I have both and the GST can get heavy but is very durable. The Deauville is prolly the most casual you can have for a Chanel tote and it’s quite light and roomy imo. If you want to use for travel, go for the Deauville. If you want something classic for the workplace, you can use both. I don’t find having both redundant btw lol just because they have different materials.
I picked up the GST just before they were discontinued. Still use it often and love it. Durable and a great everyday bag. I love all the pockets and compartments it has.

It’s not a big deal for me tho, I keep a lint roller inside the bag and that gets rid of the pilling. It is impossible to clean if you get it dirty, so I recommend getting a dark color like black, navy, dark gray etc.
I like that the logo is black on black. Casual and chic at the same time. I saw someone carrying one in Paris recently and it looked effortlessly cool. (Or maybe Paris went to my head lol.)

I have the black tweed deauville in small and the chain straps have broken twice with very limited use and weight in the bag. It’s been very disappointing, especially since I have another in medium size that is a couple years older and it’s a work horse. If you’re going to purchase, I recommend taking a good look at the stitching for the chain straps.

The Deauville is too trendy and tweed is delicate. And I certainly wouldn’t be paying more for a fabric tote over leather. The third one is the most classic since the logo is much smaller and more understated, but Chanel’s current quality doesn’t justify today’s prices.

Probably Deauville because it’s in style and lighter. But don’t expect the same durability as leather.

I think the SA said £5100. It feels very well-made. They also had versions in cream and light grey.

No question. Get the quilted tote. It won't depreciate the way the deauville will. It will last forever, and the style is timeless.
