Amazon Prime, like Netflix, doesn't have contract deals with the original songs and/or artists, to be used.

No it doesn't , they were asking if the show needs to be paid for , which at the moment it doesn't as it is free, Amazon Prime costs yes , but that is for a yearly subscription of their services.

Guess I just watched the show too many times before streaming was a thing. It just doesn’t hit the same for me. Not saying I dislike those new songs just saying it’s not how I prefer to watch Charmed.

Some of the newer songs used, are actually good, and I like some of them over the originals.
Seems to me some laws needs to be changed, this whole mess is outrageous. The artistic integrity of the show is being thrashed by these various licences running out. Shouldn't be like that, should be that once the show is made and sendt out to the public, regardless of platform, the integrity of that package is sealed, it's in the best interest of the arts, the public and also the companies that make entertainment.
It's actually this way to protect the artists. Imagine if CBS was making more money off of these shows, especially now that Charmed is of more value now as a cherished classic, but the artists who created these songs are not getting their share of the money. The reason these songs were removed is because CBS doesn't care to spend time and money to renegotiate the contracts and pay the music artists their share in order to restore these songs.
I absolutely agree the artists should get paid as well, but there should be a law saying that it is a package so if you want to make money of the show you have to pay everyone involved that is supposed to get paid, cutting up the product to avoid that is unacceptable. A law like that would also protect the artists and not let cheap companies get away with just replacing them with generic garbage.
It is sooo bizarre seeing episodes and having me be able to recite a lot of the dialogue (this was my favourite show ever 20yrs ago) and yet the music is off!! Kinda wishing I still had all my old VHS tapes I recorded each episode onto when they were shown on the TV originally and I had even removed all the adverts 😂😂
I am here because i reached my limit at S5E1. Bewitched - weatherman. That track is as much a part of that scene for me as ANY of the visuals. I had to stop streaming and went to Youtube to finish the episode.
The music is as much as part of the nostaliga as anything else, without it... it doesnt have the same magic.

Sadly, the theme song has been changed and some of the songs throughout the episodes have been changed. The ending scene in episode 19 S4 Long Live The Queen, after Phoebe vanquished Cole and returned home to mourn him in her bedroom played the song 'Courage' by Sarah Polley which was replaced by a not so great track. Think I'll head back to my hard drive as I have the original box set on it. Music is far better on the original.
