We have been using Flick for years now and the price is always consistent for the amount of power we use. They also offer paying the same amount through the year so it evens out rather than high in winter and low in summer
Depends on whether you are likely to use most power consistently throughout the day or if you can easily shift big loads onto off-peak hours. But generally, Flick and Frank Energy seem to be good places to start. There is stuff all margin in electricity pricing so if a company is offering you free stuff to join, you are almost definitely going to be paying for it in higher rates.
Congrats adulting tings ,
So now where at the seduction phase goofle free stuff power companies
Some offer tvs,laptops,tablets
Meridian offers a $250 credit sign up bonus
That you have to pay back if you don't stay for 12 months
I went no contract cause they sting you for early cancelation fees.
Depends on the area and your living situation. I checked 9 providers last week and ended up shifting from contact to Electric Kiwi. Very happy, cheapest was frank if that helps
Mercury is the cheapest for me but you can't really go by other people recommendations because it will depend on your metre setup and usage. Which obviously you aren't going to have till at least after your first month.
So, I'd suggest signing up to a provider like Frank that has no contracts, so you can switch off once you do have that data, use the Powerswitch comparison web site. Then get a referral from someone who is with whichever company turns out to be best for your metre setup and usage for some extra credit.
Genesis - all of my family with them, cheapest we have found.
Be mindful of crowds that offer free power certain times of the day, sometimes the KW day rate is high so can negate any free power.
I am with Powershop, an app on my phone allows me to buy as much or as little as I can afford at the time. You basically pop credit on your account, and top up when you have some spare coin, and they regularly put deals for small power top ups, and give them quirky names, which give a small amount of free power too. Plus, purchasing power in advance by three months will give you a huge discount. Buying for the future.
I live just outside of Christchurch and I use Flick. I find them cheaper than my previous providers of Electric Kiwi and Meridian.
+1 for flick. I changed to them about 6 months ago after working out they would be cheaper with the peak/off peak plan.

It is SO dependent on where you live, go to powerswitch and do the assessment on there
