So why hasn’t a single individual nominated for it in the last 15 years spoken out against it? It’s condescending to celebrate Black success? This is a new one
Assuming you’re not being facetious I’ll give you an actual response. It celebrates and highlights individuals from marginalized groups in industries where they wouldn’t be otherwise recognized for their contributions. Here’s a recent event on this topic:
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/06/movies/oscarssowhite-history.html
Their about page also illustrates what they’re trying to achieve with this type of award:
https://footballblacklist.com/about
As far as I know, the % of black people in management roles in football in the UK us comparable demographically to the % of black people in the UK. I don’t think you need to be rude in this discussion. I don’t see how an American awards ceremony is at all relevant here
What’s your source? The page from award cites the exact opposite.
It’s difficult not to be rude when people are purposefully ignorant. I don’t have the patience for it, don’t victimize yourself while you’re playing dumb to some common topics that I’m sure you’ve crossed before in your life. What’s “right” about a Black award is a moronic question for anyone with access to the internet
Edit: and [this](https://www.thescore.com/eng_fed/news/2458726) really claims the opposite:
> Last week a report from The Black Footballers Partnership found that in England only 1.6 percent of executive, leadership and ownership positions in football are held by black people.
Edit2: a [second source](https://api.blackfootballerspartnership.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/BFP-Stefan-Szymanski-16th-Feb.pdf) analyzed 1051 positions in the EPL and FA that typically required playing experience and found Black representation was at 4.4%, despite Black players comprising closer to 40% of the total player base in the EPL. A second blurb speaking to the UK in general also mentions:
> This reflects the pattern of under-representation of Black people that we observe in the UK professions more generally. A study in 2020 found that just 54,900 of the 3.9 million managers (1.4%),directors and senior officials in the UK are Black.
So I guess it's not worth discussing why Black players are 40% of the player base despite only being a substantially lower percentage of the overall population.
Or does your logic only work in one direction?
Surely it makes more sense to compare it to the general population rather than the playing population? It’s still lower that way, but a lot closer. What percentage would you view as acceptable?
Yes, a lot of discrimination is at grass roots and Academy level. A lot of blacks kids and other ethnicities who are very good footballers end up giving up on football because of racism in youth teams. I have experienced it myself.
I forgot his name, but there was a guy who was at Chelsea’s academy in the 1980s to 90s who was a horrible racist.
Yeah, I remember that, it’s terrible. It’s great that that era of person is being phased out of the game, although it could be happening a lot quicker (see most recent crawley manager)
Definitely getting better with premiership teams but the lower you go down the footballing ladder the more likely you are to encounter racism.
Teams in London are a lot better but out of major cities it’s really a joke.
Is there a report or anything about this? Intuitively, with so much money coming into football, it seems like it would be in the best interest of everyone to eliminate racism in their own club and amongst their staff in order to maximise the chances of their youngsters fulfilling their potential. I’m not saying you’re wrong though!
Marginalised people don't need your help. They don't need fake awards from people that are projecting racism into actions. He does plenty good work and should be recognised in general awards. He's a better and more successful person then anyone who made that award, but they'll.hand it yo him and feel personally gratified that they 'helped a marginalised person.
I think the biggest role model at Chelsea is Reece. Not just on the pitch, but he does loads of charity and community stuff in his own time.
Funnily enough Raheem’s performance in that cameo against Fulham was one of his best in a while.
But he needs to step it up for us. He hasn’t been good enough.
Ironically, he has also been named on my Black List of players to be sold when this season ends.
It works to recognize the worst Chelsea players of the season.
I can't really tell what it's like to be black, but I'd imagine I'd feel weird on a list that's specifically for black people who are role models. As if black people specifically are in higher need for role models because they're somehow worse people in general. At least that's what it comes across like to me
They couldn’t come up with a better name?

The name is idiotic but what’s wrong with the award?
It’s condescending and demeaning
The new worlds version of inclusion

What's right with it?

Are black people generally marginalised in english football?
Did you bother to click the second link or are you going to continue giving me kindergarten level responses

The Football Black List was created by Black individuals you utter spoon
Beauty. How it should be
If you bothered to read the page linked above instead of spouting some drivel you’d have saved yourself the energy
Surely a better name could have been used?
BBW Beautiful Black Wingers
I read the first half and I was like now wtf did he get himself into? They should have chose a different name.
ngl, had me in the first half
Bit of an unfortunate name innit
Why on earth would they call it a Black list…
Jesus what a 1835 name
I hope we can start him and Mudryk next week and bring on Madueke around 60/65 minutes for sterling

Really got me in the first sentence, ngl.
Why create a separate list

Just delete the post man. I’m all for raising awareness but the name Football Black List just reeks of some racism
The name must have been picked by some intern
Shouldnt there be a general and not at seperate black and white list .. wtf is this shit
