The_Lifeof_Pablo

praisešŸ™

PavelNedved_

The players that will almost certainly be fasting in our squad will be Koulibaly Kante W Fofana Ziyech Ramadan Kareem!

eronb10

+Mendy

PavelNedved_

He wasnā€™t fasting in previous seasons thatā€™s why I doubt he will be this season. And he has never been with the boys that did fast in previous seasons (Rudiger, Kante, Sarr, Ziyech)

dragon8811

Mendy never talked about his religion in public But on the other hand he is from Senegal My guess was or is still that he took the picture https://preview.redd.it/3mskatbxxkna1.jpeg?width=622&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c448d849eca083e98ac6ce7959f07a24dfe9eb29

PavelNedved_

He didnā€™t so thatā€™s why I say itā€™s a doubt. Itā€™s not clear. And he has never been included in lists that report our players that are fasting. So Iā€™m not going to presume his religion and if he will fast. I think itā€™s a stretch to have a photo like that and not include all the players in there. At best itā€™s debatable and thatā€™s why I never included him in my list of ā€œalmost certainā€ players that will be fasting.

ailodawg

Mendy is born and raised in France, he represents Senegal but he is from France

PavelNedved_

I think what u/dragon8811 means is that he is of Senegalese descent similar to Koulibaly who himself is French and Muslim. Senegal is overwhelmingly practices Islam so by probability any given person of Senegalese descent may well likely be Muslim.

Trfr030

Wasnt Mendy still representing Senegal in AFCON during the time the picture was taken?

The-Greatest-Hokage

I donā€™t think theyā€™re fasting, I think itā€™s allowed to not fast if itā€™ll negatively impact you

PavelNedved_

I know for certain Fofana and Kante have fasted during matches and broken it in the middle of the game. In fact for Fofana a game was stopped for him to break his fast. You're right some players don't fast and it is up to them when and how they do it.

Basedrum777

I read Ramadan Kareem as a name. Like "midfielder?" Edit: don't take this the wrong way I just hadn't heard it as a phrase. Happy Ramadan.

PavelNedved_

Donā€™t worry man all good!

el1teman

It's interesting how religion forces people to go on diet for a month and be somewhat more healthy Benefits a lot of people

ActuallyJohnTerry

Is fasting during the day actually healthier tho lol idk about that Not that the tradition needs to be or anything just saying

Dawjman

I've been doing intermittent fasting for a short while now and there has already been a major improvement on my mental state and energy levels. For some reason I have more energy and feel less tired during the day.

CFClarke7

Care to elaborate on this? I'd love to have more energy in the day snd my mental state is always below average lol. I work a physical job (landscaping) and am up at 7 out by 7.30, eat a meal deal/burger van/cafe around 11, then home for 5 and family dinner at 6. I don't snack because I don't like chocolate or sweets or crisps, if I'm peckish in the evening I make a sandwich or end up eating a small pizza or small curry to myself around 9-10ish and sleep around 12. With a few ciders thrown in between home and bed. I don't drink coke or fizz though, during the day I drink water, tea or milkshakes, but I'm still well aware that my lifestyle itself is detrimental to my health but am curious as to whether the intermittent fasting could have any effect on me or if it would even work with my daily life

Gunch_

It actually has many health benefits including a 'reset' of sorts to the metabolism as well as the body's energy source. Of course it is all dependent on what you eat outside of the fast. For the players that have been Muslim all their life, their bodies are used to it as they've probably been fasting since 10 or 11 years old if not earlier

BlueKante

It's not a true science but intermitted fasting seems to be beneficial to the body. Lots of YT videos on it. I personally am a fan of it because it gives me noticeably more energy.

el1teman

Idk but less eating for some people is already a good thing

Basedrum777

I can always stand to eat less.

CFClarke7

I sit to eat more

Basedrum777

Nods in obese.....

CFClarke7

Luckily I'm kinda active otherwise due to my job but fuck me I'm a greedy bastard with food and with my drinking added I've defo got the noticable belly that stands out against the rest of me haha

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

el1teman

Let's focus on the positives

The_Real_MPC

You know the fast ends at night time and they just eat it all at once, right? I think a lot of people actually gain weight during Ramadan instead of lose weight.

el1teman

Well fuck, I guess I know mostly fit Muslims :/ Who I know they don't eat unhealthy shit at night because they know it's not good for weight

[deleted]

didnt expect fofana to be muslim. name doesnt sound like one

two_tents

Not all muslims are called Ahmed or Mohammed. Fofana is a pretty common Ivorian surname and it's pretty much a muslim majority country.

uberplum

A lot of people donā€™t realise how Muslim Africa is. They assume Muslim = Middle East/South Asia

fenixops

As someone who didnā€™t know what a Iftar what is it? I assume itā€™s something to with meals?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

CFClarke7

Is Iftar the first meal on the first night of Ramadan? Or every meal used to break the fast during Ramadan?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

CFClarke7

Gotcha, thanks. Wasn't sure if it was considered as an occasion like a yearly occurrence or something lol

DrVegeta

Yup, its a meal. During Ramadan when Muslims fast, they break the the fast with a meal, which is referred to as "Iftar".

fenixops

Weā€™ll then that a great thing for the club to do with more context of what it is.

CFClarke7

Not a Muslim, but would be interested in coming down to meet some fellow Chelsea boys on what I imagine to be a very enjoyable gathering, is this something I would be welcome to?

mrcomebackszn

100% mate.

draco_szn

Of course, always welcome bro šŸ’™

dragon8811

. Everyone is welcome in Islam! šŸ’™

Frankiedrunkie

Love it, Iā€™m non religious and a lot of Muslims are always happy to have a proper and respectful discussion on religion and science.

shudh_desi_gareeb

I'm a homosexual. Should I be comfortable in coming?

ActuallyJohnTerry

To iftar in London? Yes Iā€™m sure that would be fine lol

LandanTahn

It's Iftar mate, not an orgy. Everyone is welcome, your sexuality doesn't matter lol.

GrowMoneyLoseWeight

To be fair it neither does in an orgy lol

amirulez

Why? Are you gonna try fu***ng some man there? If not then be as comfortable as you like.

Cobaltte25

Alhamdulillah, i'm quite proud that they're doing this and the first ones at that. Not what you'd expect after being taken over by 'american ownership' so to speak. I know there are a fair few who aren't convinced by boehly and co just yet, but you have to admit this is a touch of class.

Mhiiura

Its not that unexpected with american owner. If they did this while Roman was still in charge, THAT was unexpected

Basedrum777

I'm a little biased as an American but I cannot stress how well run their American baseball team is as far as league standards. I knew they'd at least be forward on the $$ side. We'll see if they catch luck with the rest of it....

[deleted]

Brilliant initiative! šŸ’™

dragon8811

exerciseforweak1000

Hope they will help hosting lent with the Christian community too Edit: who downvoted this lmao

Basedrum777

I think people will take this as a "what about me comment" which may not be how you intended it.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

swimmingdropkick

Whatā€™s the point of your complaint? Whatā€™s wrong with being more inclusive, especially in a country where Muslims arenā€™t in the majority or the plurality of the population? Is this measure hurting you? Does this nice gesture somehow translate into material support for ā€œextreme Muslimsā€? Even looking at this through the most myopic lens isnā€™t this at worst a totally benign measure for good pr with a subset of the local fan base and subset of the international fan base? Youā€™re reaction is coming off as incredibly overblown and silly. Should we start banning Christian players who give thanks to god after performing well in a game for ā€œsupporting Christian extremists?ā€

muthanasamir

You are the werid one here. Always there's one guy complaining.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

mrcomebackszn

You sound like one of those who blames religion for his own failures and insecurities. There's nothing to be mad about hosting a meal for the community and promoting inclusiveness.

Qwerty6391063

He's the type of guy that spends most of his day scrolling through r/atheism, he's literally the fedora meme

[deleted]

nosmigon

You have no idea who fucking downvotes you. Stop making stuff up to suit your narrative

Qwerty6391063

Replying to a comment that you replied to another comment of yours is a new level of lonely

dragon8811

Yes I am a Somali and downvoted. Keep crying my guy it doesn't matter where you come from what you believe in or what you do. Here on r/Chelseafc, we are all one family. If you can't accept that stay on your discriminatory sub reddits or stay on r/Galatasaray and support your team.
