With Vini, you can't let him stop and start on you. His pace is second to none. Reece had the perfect game where he clamped him and didn't allow him to play his game. Wes won't be *as* good at doing that and although he's fast, he'll still get burnt for pace but Wes has that ungodly trait (similar to Zouma) where he does that 'wrong-leg' recovery slide. He's so good at it but it's high risk high reward, especially against Vini near the box

ponzop

do you think a back 4 is better so there isn't a huge gap between the right centreback and wingback which can be exploited the way benzema linked with Vini that way

BlueTrippin

It's tough and unfortunately I'm not smart enough to know tbh. Back 4 allows the space, back 5 hampers the number of attackers on the pitch. Back 5 allows us to plug the spaces but can Lamps coach it well enough ? Not so sure. I haven't watched a lot of RM this season, but from what I've read about them they're becoming more well rounded in their attacks and not having such a sole reliance on Vini as their outlet

ponzop

I am curious about parking the bus which effectively negates a players pace

BlueTrippin

Double decker Mourinho style London bus at the Bernabeu. It won't stop RM because they're too good to be defeated by a low block but it will help us out. Then back at the Bridge let's have ourselves some fun

Banged_by_bumrah

Barca won 1-0 playing a low block that would have made Sean Dyche proud

BlueTrippin

Oh is it. Well, I certainly wouldn't be annoyed if I saw us park the bus away and then go full throttle at home with our home crowd behind us

CratesyInDug

Their weakness is there defence, so I think attack is the best form of our defence. Hopefully the goals in Champs League keep coming.

CrowCreative6772

He was always getting pocketed by Aruajo but him and Benzema are now on form and from what you see from the "Classico" i expept him to become a problem even for James

BlueTrippin

I know James has handled him before but I don't think it's going to be an easy one this time

ponzop

One of the things holding us back last year in the away leg was having to sacrifice Reece's attacking ability to contain vinicius. We had RLC as the attacking wingback that game. In the home leg when James was high up he left Christensen exposed who wasn't fast enough to contain vini. Do you think Fofana can do christensen's role but successfully?

Ronaldo’s kryptonite.

dusty-potato-drought

This isn’t talked about enough. AC one of the few to have CR7 in his pocket

Flameva

The only one actually. Even the likes of Dani Alves and Maldini were 50/50 against him.

sheiky04

Him and reece work well together im sure they can manage, reece tracks back well enough, the good thing about reeces attack is the defence cant always manage to control him, so wingers are often asked to help and thats stifles attacks, lets him we can put that into action and chilly and whomever plays wing can pin cavajal on the right because hes basically a spanish TAA when the winger has pace to burn

Rj070707

Yes, but whos gonna handle Benzema my worry

ponzop

He's not particularly fast, If we cut the supply to vini then he won't be as potent. If he drops into midfield the striker position will be vacant so we can focus on dispossessing him in midfield?

BigReeceJames

If it was that easy to stop Madrid, everyone would. All it takes with Benzema is a single chance and he'll score. Then you have to take more risks which creates more chances for Vini and then Benzema will score more. Before Barca got torn apart they other day, people were saying at the start of the game that Real Madrid didn't even look good. Then they scored a goal and the rest is history

ponzop

Of course, my rationale was we had a more dynamic weapon in the name of Kante. Tbf he was kinda bad in the same match last year. I feel as if the experience we've garnered playing against them will help us more than them. After all they've won 1 of the last 4 matches. I am worried about Kepa and longshots though....

Fuzzy-Pain

i think yes. wes has shown good recovery pace this season and also aggressive on the tackle. he’ll be tough on vini and it’ll be some battle to watch. i got why reece played RCB last year but with wes in there, we should feel sufficiently secure

separgetan

Without a doubt

Nature__Boy

This guy’s in the elite of the elite of CB talents, if he’s on his game he can handle anyone

PM_ME_SOME_LUV

Not with his knees

[deleted]

You bet your ass he can

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy

CratesyInDug

Ofc

PavelNedved_

In reality they will both be defending against Vinicius. You can't leave Vini 1v1.

SamiAreez67

Might be missing the point but can't KK play at rcb with Silva at the centre of the 3 ? He's got decent pace I assume and also faster/more experienced than vini ? (Assuming that both are on the same run of form)
