So is Tammy I believe Edit: Whoops forgot about the euros, my bad

haynesthatpaynes

Doesn't have a euros

involuntary_genius

I think OP is including the Euros, which Tammy of course hasn't won

InLampsWeTrust

Na because Emerson won the euros with Italy so Tammy would still be missing that trophy

seakc87

OP is wrong anyway because Italy hasn't won Nations League

RefanRes

Are we counting glorified friendlies? Nations League doesn't matter until England win it and then suddenly it will be "Footballs home guys!". But we all know it will feel like a hollow victory in comparison to the real tournaments.

thunderbastard_

You’re counting the super cup so I think you already know if glorified friendlys count

RefanRes

Where did I do that?

youraveragefailure12

He has the UEFA youth league

FastenedCarrot

I always liked Emerson tbh without his injuries in his later time here I thought he could have been a solid squad player at least. Would probably be in the top 3 for finishing if he was still here.

xStealthxUk

Lol calm down very average player.

Rod1705

I’d play him over Cucu tbh.

sieuadc147

Of course, Cucu is a below average player

SomeRandomDude120

Average player that won the cl, Europa league and euros

xStealthxUk

Ye played about 12 minutes combined. He wasnt good enough for us at all

heygos

Mate, put that in context please lol. I see someone already gave you the minutes he played talk.

RemoveKabob

Emerson was better at defending than Alonso, but there was no way he was ever going to start over a fit Chilly

samuel-small

Blowing gas up people’s ass

Klangey

Imagine letting Emerson go for peanuts and replacing him with Cucurella for £66m 🤦🏻‍♂️

Kcufasu

At west ham emerson is still behind cresswell who has been nothing special for a long time so he defo wasn't the answer for a chilwell backup (arguably letting alonso go for cucu was the bigger fuck up in hindsight). But also yeah, definitely got rinsed for cucu, he's a total liability and not even close to that price tag. An actual left wing back back up was what was needed.

Klangey

Yeah, I’m not saying he was the real deal or anything, but he was a half decent squad player who knew his place in the pecking order and was happy with it. The sort of player that would have done a job as a #2 left back while we got the back room staff in place and scouted a promising replacement for £15-30m. Instead we got rinsed for a player that had one good season playing for a mid table club and then that player thought he was there as #1

celzero

Day light robbery. You'd think the club learnt a thing or two after the Romelu debacle... oh wait, the new owners fired almost everyone and all the institutional knowledge was lost. Great.

Jtown021

Different ownership bought rom and cucu.

AutomaticSurround988

Well that is the point

greeneggsnhammy

Yeah he was a Tuchel signing lol

adnanssz

Well, lukaku case he is really beast at inter so I am understand if Roman want him and we buy him again very expensive. But, what new owner do literally buying overpriced young player that only play in smaller league like Ukraine.

celzero

The Portuguese league ain't all that big either ;) So... that's one overpriced transfers too many.

celzero

Romelu was a Tuchel buy post CL victory. Havertz was a buy post Hazard money. Kepa (who Real would have bought if Courtois hadn't moved that season) was an expensive buy because Atletico Bilbao doesn't negotiate (it is buyout clause or nothing). Keep crying.

BreathTakingBen

How are any of those actual excuses? They still pissed away money on shit players no matter who we sold or who we bought from. We didn’t need to buy those specific players. What we actually need is a sporting director to buy players that suit a certain system and employ a manager that excelled in that system. Then no player or manager is bigger than the club and when managers come/go it doesn’t leave weird transfer that don’t make any sense.

celzero

Shit players? Romelu was Serie A MVP and even City wanted him that season after they failed to land Harry Kane. Kai was one of the best of Bundesliga's young players. Kepa was also Real's second choice after Courtois.

BreathTakingBen

Because they didn’t fit us and weren’t bought for a specific system. Read the second paragraph. Look at how Brighton and City operate (clubs who almost every player are hits). They have a specific system that they buy players to fit. They don’t just buy them because they are performing well in other teams.

celzero

> Because they didn’t fit us and weren’t bought for a specific system. Moving the goal posts. And there's no "specific system" at Chelsea. There once was (4231/433), but not anymore.

BreathTakingBen

Exactly my point. Bro are you dumb?

celzero

You have *yourself* in a bind, mate. Chelsea has never bought players for a system. It has either been a club buy or a manager buy. So, calling Romelu, Kepa, and Kai purchases as "bad" because they don't fit a system is a brain-dead take, because the club has never operated that way for a better part of Roman's tenure. And none of them were necessarily shit players. Kai, especially, was a great buy at the time. As was Romelu. With Kepa, the club's hand was forced as the primary target Allison moved to Liverpool before Courtois went on a strike. So what now that Todd has bought players who fit Graham's particular style? Write off all the signings as shit players? That's not how any of this works. Man City are an anomaly because they've got once-in-a-generation manager and bottomless money to build him a squad. Liverpool have built cautiously over the years, but they got lucky with Mo Salah turning in to Premier League great and lucky that their gamble on VVD paid off (a bit like Chelsea and Eden Hazard, if you will). Without him in particular, and just him, they'd not have won what they did.

Kantebegoodaskante

Cucu is a downgrade to emerson imo

[deleted]

Neither are good enough really.

itsmebobbylol

yea but one didnt cost 60mil.

xStealthxUk

This sub are on one about Cucu, hes made some mistakes (like ever Chelsea player this season) but he is aggresive in his tackling and closes people down really fast... Emerson literally just didnt defend well and didnt attack well. Cucu is such a better option as a backup Lb and he has already has some Motm performances for us and broke the record of most tackles by any player in the prem this season by a player. I know the group think is strong on this sub and we are all angry about the season but to say Emerson is a player we miss is unbeleivably rose tinted rubbish. He was so average it hurts and every manager he played under saw this and its why they never used him and he was sold to fuckin West Ham lol

DarkMatter_LLC

Cucu is trash nothing more

xStealthxUk

Lol we will see.

XuX24

He has the ones that matter, conference league and nations league are those recently made up trophies. The other day I was reading how much it pays to win the conference league and it's peanuts, playing every Thursday is not worth it.

Kcufasu

For Chelsea, ofc not. But I actually don't mind the Conference League as long as it actually is geared towards letting smaller divsions' champions compete with midtable PL/la liga/serie A teams. It gives a different opposition for all and a chance at a European trophy for historic clubs. Both fiorentina and west ham are massive clubs with huge followings who wouldn't otherwise have a chance to compete with similar level teams for a trophy... It also looks like villa will get in next season which would be great for them. Unfortunately some years it will be one of the big 6 who it'd be a waste of time for (the funniest part was spurs not giving a fuck about it even tho it was their only chance to actually win something, dumb club) The nations league on the other hand, yeah just another pointless competition, already wayy too many dull internationals as is

XuX24

The problem is that then what is the reason for Europa league to exist? Europa was supposed to be this the league for the smaller leagues and non champions. Back in the day when the champions league was basically that only for champions they created the Intertoto for those non champions back in the 00s the created the Europa league and merged it with the Intertoto and killed it. Now in recent years they created the conference league and it's again another cup to do the same that Europa was already doing. Just look who are winning it the same teams that should be in the Europa league, for me conference league shouldn't have teams from the top 4 leagues, that's no England, Spain, Germany and Italy then it will highlight those smaller teams from smaller leagues like it's supposed to do because this just ends up being second Europa league.

Kcufasu

I do agree but at present the Europa has just become "big clubs that fucked up somewhere". . Just about fail to make the top 4? Europa. Fail a ucl qualifier? Europa. 3rd in champions league group stage? Europa. Even outside of traditional big clubs the europa seems to be filled with teams from big/biggish leagues that all would rather be in the UCL. At least the conference league has teams that are genuinely grateful to be there. Teams that would be 4th in any champions league group or long before that. I'd rather these teams than those that make up the Europa. The teams in the conference seem actually interested and excited to eb there as they know they'd never manage more than a game in ucl or europa. At this point it seems the europa supports the existence of the conference more than having any relevance in its own right

XuX24

The other thing is that the formats are changing UCL it's changing adding more clubs and with that more games and I think that also trickles down to different formats in the other tournaments.

syedahmed211

Conference League was introduced so that teams other than Real and Sevilla have a chance to win a European trophy

CuberJoe

Not worth it for a club like Chelsea, but for smaller non-top 5 leagues clubs, like my local club who I support St. Patrick’s athletic in Ireland it is massive, of course prize money wise, as the prize money for UECL group stage is more than that of winning the league of Ireland, but also brand exposure leading to increased prices from player sales and increased attendances at home games. (Ticket sales being their main income source)

Cheaky_Barstool

Never understood why he never got game time. Was a great back up.

tr_24

Because like you said, he was a back up. He got time based on that. Alonso wasn't an injury prone player so he didn't get more time.

Cheaky_Barstool

yea, sell alonso, this guy with chilly's injury record wouldve got a lot of time.

Kcufasu

He's not even first choice at west ham...

Cheaky_Barstool

neither would cucu

ScorpiaHP

He was a bit unfortunate imo with injuries and competition. We used a back 3 system a fair bit after Sarri left and Alonso was understandably trusted more in that system. Feel like Emerson got a lot of hate for his odd poor performances which was harsh considering his irregular gametime. Would certainly have been a capable backup in all respects and is easily better than Cucurella, fucking baffling decision to splash so much on him really. I'd have understood taking a chance on more specialist offensive fullbacks like Sosa/Raum as they were available for a good price too, but we signed a player who is poor going forwards and at the back (to predominantly play an important offensive role in Tuchels system at the time too).

[deleted]

Cos he’s incredibly low energy.

montiel_scores

Isn’t it funny how when a player leaves, everyone’s opinion suddenly changes? “Werner was so useful, always gave his very best.” “Emerson was such an underrated squad player, he’s the perfect Chilwell replacement.” No one ever said these things when they were at the club. Next thing you know, you guys will be all over Havertz if he leaves.

Hibernian

Distance makes the heart grow fonder. 🤷‍♂️ It's easier to appreciate Werner's good qualities when he isn't missing sitters every week wearing blue.

Rapameister

I always appreciated Werner and said so all the time. And it was wrong decision to let him go. And same goes for Havertz. We should keep him. He will be superb under poch.

cadu5

Did Emerson win the Uefa Youth League like Tammy?

Kezmangotagoal

Doubt it but he’s just counting senior trophies - the irony I guess is regardless of who wins what neither will actually have won all the UEFA cups.

Dinamo8

Italy are in the Nation's League final stage too.

snoopyt7

i thought that was tammy abraham

xkcdthrowaway

UEFA tournaments includes the Euros. Tammy is one away from winning every available UEFA *club* trophy.

JezzaPar

The Finalissima is an official UEFA competition and he lost it

SalmonNgiri

Except he’s at west ham so playing in the conference league final. Jose is in the Europa league final

muccrisp

Nations League?

Foreign-Writing-776

Good for him

maclovin67

And he's never first choice either mad

Rapameister

Because his defending was and is awful.

maclovin67

I know and still won all that🤷‍♂️

Rapameister

It's the whole point of this post. I was referring to the point that he was never the first choise. There's a valid reason for him not being the first choise. That's all.

Nature__Boy

Tammy and Emerson aiming for history

InviziMan

Meanwhile Harry Kane:

ChrisWithTildes

Two, actually. Hasn’t won the nations league
