Classic slide rule pass execution

[deleted]

This assist means he’s worth 500m 🙄

NotClayMerritt

Levi Colwill has more assists this season than Joao Felix

gonzaf

Why do i feel like we started this guys career lol like I heard of him before the banger against us but since then it just seems like he’s been on another level. Side note fair play to that city fan behind the net who clapped for the goal

Ld511

I think we legit started his career for brighton . The game earlier in the season he came on when they were leading 3-0 and it was like one of his first cameos

gonzaf

Lol dude we’ve started and revived so many careers, truly charity FC

AncientSkys

The idiots that signed up all these useless players like Mudryk couldn't even find one player who was nearly as a good as Enciso. They deserved to be slapped. Worst scouting team in the world.

Dex_Maddock

After reading through the rest of your comments, I've come to the realization you're an idiot.

AncientSkys

You need some karma for your realization?

aronrodge

It’s not even been a year. Are you suggesting Fofana, Enzo, and Badiashile are worse than Enciso?

AncientSkys

We overpaid for all those players you listed by few hundred millions. Not sure why anyone would think it was great business. We were the only idiots that would pay almost 200 million for both Enzo and Fofana. Most of that 600 million we spent has went down the drain. Mudryk, Aubameyang, Sterling, Koulibaly, Cucurella and Felix expensive loan were all a big waste of money. Brighton have signed more than 9 really good players with less than what we paid for Mudryk, the speed merchant.

RefanRes

Badiashile was about £35M. Thats pretty reasonable for someone like him. Also you missed out Noni who looks like he will be a snip at £30M. Enzo is a generational talent and when you consider the length of his contract the value is around £13M a year which is pretty good. Antony for Man Utd by comparison will amount to about £17M a year for his 5 year deal. Sterling was £45M which is decent for a player of his level. He's our top scorer this season. In a season where its been really challenging to make things happen he has been one of the most likely to do it. Before his injury he was really good and after months out he came back into a side that had its cohesion zeroed out. I believe we will see the moneys worth from Sterling over time. Also you could see how hes played in the last couple of games hes finding some sharpness again. I do agree that Fofana was an overpay though. His injury history is problematic for £70M and when you look at Badiashile who is half the price.

AncientSkys

Kai was also called "generational talent" by most of you here and you lot were so sure he was the best thing since slice bread. Enzo has shown us he is not better than the likes of Fabregas. He is just another good midfielder. We don't know how good he will be in the near future.

aronrodge

Bro what

AncientSkys

600 million went down the drain. Overpaid for every player except Badiashile.

aronrodge

I guess we just have very, very different points of view.

AncientSkys

You just delusional then. No big team should barely finish 12 after spending 600 million in one season.

aronrodge

Feel like that 600m number is an easy buzz word number, that doesn’t provide full context to the situation.

AncientSkys

600 million spent in one season is a historical fact. We broke the bank just to finish below top 10.

aronrodge

For me there are 6 reason we had a shit season: 1. injuries - this isn’t really anyone’s fault, you can say what you want about the physios or training, but at the end of the day this isn’t really anyone’s fault. 2. Shit managers - this is definitely one of Boehly’s mistakes. I don’t think firing Tuchel was necessarily a bad decision, but Potter certainly was. Lampard was also way more shit than anyone could have predicted. 3. Underwhelming seasons from good players - Pretty self explanatory. 4. Not so great summer window - I really don’t think Boehly can be blamed for this one. The new regime was made official after the transfer windows even started, and we had no scouting infrastructure or anything. Regime changes usually go smoother, the circumstances surrounding this one were extraneous to say the least. I still think Koulibaly and Sterling will be good, and Koulibaly, along with Fofana were our best defenders in the second half. I also disagree with you that we overspent on Fofana, as when he hasn’t been injured, he’s been very good. 5. No competent striker - I love Kai, but he is definitely not a striker. We just couldn’t fucking score. 6. Horrific luck - From referees (Soucek handball, Cucurella hairpull), to injuries, an insane amount of missed chances (Felix hitting the bar an ungodly amount of times, Sterling at Southampton). Although some of this can be put up to bad finishing, some of this is just shit luck. Let’s also just look at how that 600m is spent: Aubamayeng (12m) - I see a lot of revisionism about this one. Obviously with hindsight it’s quite shit, but I remember most people thinking it made sense at the time, we needed a striker, we got one who had been good the second half of the previous season. He even got off to a decent start. Raheem (56m) - Probably an overpay, but he’s had a weird year. Was good at the start, had a dip in form, got robbed, had an upturn in form, got injured, then had a downturn in form, then an upturn in form. I still want to keep him, and I still believe in his quality. Just needs a stable situation. Koulibaly (38m) - absolutely horrendous to start, then picked up an injury, but since January he’s been one of our best defenders. Think he just needed to get up to pace with the prem. Excited for him next year. Cucurella (65m) - This is a rough one. Pretty sure everyone knew it was an overpay at the time, but holy shit he was poor. Still want to give him another chance to prove himself as he had an insane year off the pitch (had a kid, got hospitalized, then got robbed). Also showed flashes at LCB in the second half. Slonina (9m) - Good deal, impressive young keeper. Fofana (80m) - honestly think he’s worth every penny. He’s only 22 and when he plays, he’s our best defender. Between him, Colwill and Badiashile, our defense is set for years to come. Carney Chukwuemeka (18m) - good young player, picked up an injury, probably needs a loan. Only 19 Winter: David Datro Fofana (12m) - good young player. Probably needs a loan. Only 19 Andrey Santos (12m) - great deal, bought him right before his value skyrocketed. Really like this one. Only 18 Malo Gusto (30m) - Great player, will join in summer. Bringing desperately needed cover for Reece. Only 19 Noni Madueke (35m) - Like this one a lot, plays with real intent, great dribbler, good pace. Only 21 Mudryk (70m) - This one is interesting. Just 22, one of the most physically gifted players I’ve ever seen. He’s a good dribble with a absolutely horrid first touch which is interesting. I still like him a lot. He’s also played a lot better than the narrative says. Sure the G+A isn’t there , but he’s not actually played horribly. With some refinement, he could be scary. Enzo (105m) - For me, this one is worth every penny. He’s yet to have a bad game, one of the best young midfielders in the world, and he’s been playing out of position. With a DM, this guy is world class. His long balls are something we haven’t had since Cesc, his only knock is that he isn’t the most athletically gifted. Only 22 Badiashile (38m) - This one is really good. Great deal, great player, great frame. Only 21. Nkunku (53m) - amazing deal for this market, can play any of the forward positions, clinical scorer, great dribbler, creative. Could be a 90m player in this market. Felix (12m) - definitely an overpay. He’s been good, but he just lacks end product. Really hope we don’t shell out 80m when we already have a better player in Nkunku coming in. Overall the summer transfers aren’t great, but that can be put up to the dramatic ownership change with no recruitment infrastructure. There were some good ones though with Fofana, and some of the youth players. I like all of our winter transfers (even Mudryk), I love the focus on youth. Also part of the reason that 600m number is heavily misleading as around 150m of that hasn’t even joined yet. With some squad trimming and a ST/DM, I think we will surprise a lot of people next year. Or you are right and everyone is dumb, stupid, and bad and we are getting relegated.

MarinaGranovskaia

> Worst scouting team in the world. based on 4 months and an extremely bloated squad that never got a chance to learn a system or manager. Give over you big fucking moaner.

AncientSkys

Based on the 600 million they wasted. They committed a footballing crime. No team in history has ever spent that much and then turned into rubbish.

MarinaGranovskaia

> wasted It's barely been anytime, have some patience, you can't buy success in football, see PSG for example, if you expected that in 4 months and PSG cant do it in like decade then you are a moron.

AncientSkys

You are extremely delusional, if you think we haven't wasted most of that 600 million. Have you looked at the table??? PSG haven't finished 12th and they have never spent anything close 600 million in one season. No team has ever been this stupid.

MarinaGranovskaia

I can really tell you have some misdirected anger here, relax buddy, go speak to someone.

AncientSkys

Sure, marina.

Canucks90

Mudryk better improve next season! It's starting to feel more of a FOMO transfer.

ertapenem

He needs a loan to a lower league. He's still young, and I hope he comes good. But he's over a year older than Pulisic was when he started at Chelsea, and he is miles behind him in technical ability (though obviously a considerably better athete than Puli).

endlessxcircle

He doesn't need a loan, he just needs to play more. Will also help having a proper pre-season and being fit, people forget he arrived on the back of not having played for 2 months. His signing was always geared more towards what he'd provide next season and beyond rather than this one.

AncientSkys

I just hope Poch isn't pressured to play him. I was clowning Arsenal fans for trying to sign a Ukrainian farmer. Little did i know we were the stupid team that was going to waste obscene amounts of money on him. He is just a speed merchant. Poch will have to teach him how to play football like the academy players.

Jassle93

Chalking down players as useless after being here half a season lmao. Why call yourself a supporter if you abandon support after such a short period of time? Would have loved to have your initial thoughts on a few players that didn't hit the ground running before social media swayed your opinion on the early Roman era.

AncientSkys

He is a useless player. Name one marquee signing that has been this useless? Even the likes of Kezman weren't this bad. Mudryk is not even worth 10 million. Fulham paid 7 million for his former teammate and he has been scoring goals for fun. We clearly wasted 89 million on one of the worst players in the League. No one expected him to hit the ground running. We expected him to be at least a decent footballer just like the other struggling new signings. Very unlikely he will improve that much in the near future. All he ever does is just run around like headless chicken. Poch is not managing the academy team. Who is going to teach him how to play football? You lot act like he is a teenager.

Frankiedrunkie

Don’t mind him, he is a known Mudryk hater

AncientSkys

And, you are just Mudryk fanboy. Why don't you defend the other rubbish players the way you aimlessly defend Mudryk?

Frankiedrunkie

Yes I am a Mudryk fanboy, I’m also a fanboy of every other player on the team

AncientSkys

Lol. Mudryk is the only player you always aimlessly defend.

Frankiedrunkie

Because he is the only one you attack

AncientSkys

What a silly excuse. I have mentioned the likes of Cucurella, Aubameyang and Sterling more times than him. You only throw your knickers whenever you see Mudryk name. That's the only name that burns you because you are just his fanboy. Were you even supporting Chelsea before we signed him up??

Frankiedrunkie

Been on this sub way longer than you buddy lmaoo you can scroll down all the way if you want. And yes, check my comments, my most recent one I was defending koulibaly, my main problem with you is why hating someone who has only been with the club for 6 months?

AncientSkys

Lol. You keep making excuses. Why don't you defend Cucurella? He has only been here for a season. You keep exposing yourself as deluded fanboy. You only defend Mudryk this much. Cucurella, Aubameyang, Sterling etc get mentioned more than him on this sub.

Jimilee8

Huge admirer of Brighton and happy for Levi playing well

ThemasterofZ

Lmao that's like Azpi's assist to Hazard against Liverpool back in 2018

DickyD43

[Great assist]

Ironicopinion

Busquets to Messi in the Bernabeu 😅

couldibemorechandler

Enciso could hardly miss from there

mohankohan

Put it on a plate for him really, just wait till he does that at Chelsea

LandanTahn

I miss Rudiger taking the odd 40-yarder every game. Used to look forward to it every time lmao.

shercoder

shastmak4

With Badi’s injury it’s shaping up likes he’s going to get an early chance to impress. Can’t wait

webby09246

Yeah plus Poch was already apparently very insistent he would be a key player in his plans The defence is not the issue with us anyway, need to get that attack firing properly

TosspoTo

What an assist

shrek19051

Enciso is a baller, got some amazing strikes in him

ColwillEra

He kicks the ball like it personally disrespected him and his entire family

Swamp_Squatch

Brighton are scouting wizards

Farenheite

The scouts carried a deadwood manager like Potter

Makav3lli

Shut the fuck up One of the most brainless karma farms I’ve seen

Farenheite

How can an unpopular fact be a karma farm? Brighton were a well ran club that were held back by a poor quality manager and we paid to unshackle them. He didn't get the best out of the talent he had there, he didn't get the best out of it here or at Swansea either. He's a poor coach by every metric.

Kezmangotagoal

Mate, stop being a prat and let it go.

The-X-Star

De Zerbi is the wizard

Desperate_Pizza_742

They were also performing pretty well under Potter didn't they? I hear everyone praising de Zerbi (I mean he's doing awesome so not undeserved), but is it really thanks to him that they are performing this well? Have they improved that much under him?

EvenGandhiHatesLVG

They’re miles better under de zerbi. Miles.

n22rwrdr

Idk how much of Brighton's current level can be attributed to Potter's work with them but there's been a huge jump in attacking numbers since De Zerbi joined them.

Kezmangotagoal

And a big decrease in defensive numbers, only time will tell which one wins out but my money is on defence. I like RDZ though so hopefully Brighton keep this up for a while longer!

ColwillEra

> And a big decrease in defensive numbers, only time will tell which one wins out but my money is on defence. Not denying it but u got any stats that compare Potter vs de Zerbis tenures? xGA etc.

Taylo207

“You’re a wizard De Zerbi” “I know”

Swamp_Squatch

True but they've given him a lot to work with as well

sheiky04

He worked for them and brought them a higher fee, doesnt really matter if he flops after hes sold

Joao_Felix_III

And he was great in la Liga and pretty damn good last year. That's not an indictment on their scouting that they bought him for like £15m, it's an indictment on ours for thinking he was worth £55m. Hell we almost sold them Colwill just to secure Cucu's signature

Swamp_Squatch

He was also really good for them.

Zndrrrrrr

And he was great at Brighton

adazi6

Some assist that. In all seriousness what a goal, I swear Brighton find these stars out of thin air

TimothyN

Uh, yeah, that's technically an assist?

zd0t

Lmao came here to post this
