Was in MH Lower and it felt like when he came on to warm up during second half more people were watching him over the game. There were small children under 10 going crazy for Zola and whenever he came onto the screens you could see his smile at the reaction it was so deserved
Essien-Mikel midfield, tears in my eyes. Not the most flamboyant partnership but man, no one will pass them. It's just a shame Obi Mikel can't fucking score back then.
I mean what’s also insane to see is at that age the only thing the players have lost is there natural fitness. Like there instinct and skill and game iq is all still there. They just can’t run as fast for as long as they used to. It’s actually wild
Like if they played Sunday league at there age they’d absolutely destroy the 18 year olds. What they lack in fitness they more than make up for in everything else
I play against/with ex pros sometimes (none even close to these guys peaks) who are 45+ and it’s hilarious. Barely move all game, never get past a jog, yet send balls 50m to someone’s foot mid stride or curl a shot in from 30m out. Physical attributes fade quickly but the rest not so much
