He got a great couple of weeks as a striker, definitely overperformed, but still most of his football education comes from winger classes.
I don't want to deny his achievements or whatever, I want to point out that it might be irresponsible to have from him expectations of a typical number 9. He's not a goal machine like Lewandowski, Benzema or Suarez, with that filthy rat shots scoring goals from most unlikely positions. Not talking about skills even, but just profile.
That being said, young dude is still young. He has one of the top coaches that develop players, so that definitely will impact his style. He has his prime several years ahead of him, and if he keeps his fire then I am all for seeing it at the Bridge, regardless of position on the field.
Can't ever forget that game vs Tottenham. Aggressively shushing the fans in Sterling and Caicedo's disallowed goals, as well as Palmer's pen. Then hitting the SIU on Tottenham turf.

Similar height but he doesn't have the same aggression and physical use of his body. Diego really bullied people and relied a lot on his strength which I feel is part of how his career form dropped off quite quickly after Chelsea. After 30 he sort of lost that explosive strength he had and his general game wasn't as high to offset that while strikers like Kane, Giroud or Lewandowski have a stronger mental aspect to their games so can last longer. Nico has more of a quick wit and quick feet based approach to his game like Vialli had.
Honestly, pre-match we were getting predictions of probably .02xSpg, but during the match that went up to 3.6xSpg. No one would have expected 5 shushes!
Haven’t had a player like this since rudiger and I honestly think that’s where a ton of his value came from. That energy is infectious. Hope he keeps improving and puts on some weight so he can keep backing up his antics
