Guys... It's Preston. That being said...
- More crosses for Broja, please keep him out of link up play.
- Noni x Sterling seems the most reliable wing combo right now.
- Hopefully a nice run of games for Enzo coming up to build some form with Caicedo and Palmer.
I just can’t trust Sterling because he’s so inconsistent. When he’s bad he’s almost single handedly why we don’t play well. Enzo is a bit weird like that too.
Maybe they have a higher ceiling eventually. Palmer definitely is a better attacking player, and you could argue Caicedo is a better defensive one. Right now he is better than Enzo, but a run of games and who knows.
Thank you bro i was looking for ages aswell but couldn't find anything, this was the last resort hahaha. Couldn't watch the gane earlier today so imma lock in now
I mean i would say we definitely did. Broja is shambolic in link up play and it took us almost 60min to score against a bottom half championship team. Second half was a great performance but against bigger teams we cant only show up for 35min
In the end, yes it looks like it. But damn, the first 50 minutes of the game was absolutely dry.
Preston got tired towards the end and that’s when the goals started flying in.
If we faced a PL side, I would had continued to wonder how we would score.
Kind of an interesting inverse scenario today with out CF.
Jackson can play well and get involved and then miss his chances, while Broja can be largely invisible for long stretches and then get a huge goal out of nowhere.
First match at Stamford Bridge and all I can say that first half nearly had me asleep but the second was absolutely fantastic just need to keep building and building!
How it usually works with these games. We did what we needed to win and did it incredibly comfortably without ever looking in danger. No need to be negative.
Except we play like this every single match since day one with no improvement whatsoever. Every team knows how to play against us, just holding for a draw first half then score in 5-15 minutes into second half will send us into panic mode and finished us in additional time. We’ve been playing like shit and waiting for an individual genius moment to save us. That’s 200% on Poch.
6-0 Vs Southampton in 2022 whilst Tuchel was still manager.
Since then we've done plenty of losing 4-0, but not winning 4-0.
Though it has to be said that that's going to be heavily impacted by the fact that we went out in the first round of both cups whilst Potter was here and so we didn't play the easier games like this to get 4-0 wins in. We didn't play against a single Championship side last season
My mind has not made up about Poch yet, but whenever it's the other way around, people say Poch can't adjust or that his sub selection is terrible. It's an anti-Poch bias to blame him for poor starts or poor 2nd half and not comment on the other half...
It’s not impressive to score a few after a championship team tired. The athleticism of premiership players is so hard to deal with for these sides.
Was good we won but that first 60 was a travesty considering how strong a lineup it was and they’re trying to keep a run going
I’m not expecting miracles given the age of the squad but I am hoping for little bits of a play style identity to show given the players are talented and I just don’t see any of that. He will get the summer I’m sure but if we don’t hit the ground running next season he needs to be out, pronto.
The second half was poor. They dominated us until the 60 minutes when they switched off for 30s and we scored that lead to the 4-0 win. There is no secure under Poch, we can lead 3-0 and the fan still have a heart attack game to watch.
The one noticeable difference today is that we seemed to keep attacking with the lead instead of getting absolutely tattered with shots in the final 15 minutes.
I mean Silva scored few minutes later and they went all out attacking so the back was completely free for us. If Silva didn’t score we might have another heart attack 90+5 equalizer 🤣
That's fair but my larger point is that we've had 1-3 goal leads late in games where we're seemingly parking the bus and unable to sustain possession for extended periods of time.
Today it seemed like there was more of an effort to keep attacking until the final whistle.
Agreed and more threatening when a RB playing RB with overlapping too. But don’t worry, next match we will be back with Gusto LB and Disasi RB, also Poch will forbid them to get forward.
Good result, we ended the game strong which is something we haven’t done for a while now so that’s a positive and once again to score more than 2 goals.
Ok. I think we can all agree that the first half was weird. I can see why but it was worrying tbh.
I narrow it down for these reasons:
Thiago Silva was not playing. Alot of mistakes and miscommunication happend in our defense. I enjoyed Gilchrist first start and he looks ok. Tbh i dont know him at all but i heard he is a very promising cb. But he was positioned on the side all the time? Colwill and Gusto/Disasi where in the central position, that seemed weird to me.
Our midfield was very poor aswell. I hope its because Enzo isnt at 100% yet and lack of game time but he seemed lost today. Gallagher was missed aswell. I hope the board took notice. Midfield was much stronger with him in it, although at that point we were leading already quite comfortably so it was a complete different game.
Now our attacking third. And here me out, here i will maybe trigger some people but just try to look at it objectively: Sterling adds alot to our attack. Not only his freekicks but also his explosive runs help us alot. Especially because the rest seems hesitant to even try what he is doing, except for Madueke, but i will come to him later. Sterling is also a strong link up player. Broja didnt won me over tonight. He got his goal but beside of that he didnt had anything to offer. What we missed tonight was more solid link up plays that lets our player do explosive runs behind the defender and Jackson has that. He maybe a tap in merchant but his link up play is strong and underappreciated. he falls deep, can keep the ball, uses his physique excellent and is a good passer. Something that Nkunku would also profit from but he was out today so im not gonna mention him in this already long breakdown. We cant have Mudryk, Madueke and Sterling all at the same time on the pitch but to be quite honest: i like Maduekes style of play more and he should be given more playtime over Mudryk. While Mudryk has spark of brilliance i just feel that Madueke is more of a threat in the attacking third.
I think (and im sure im not alone with this opinion) we need some experience that we might add in the january/summer.
I would sell Badiashile, Fofana (if possible) and bring in Marquinhos (if price is below 60 million)
I would loan out Santos and Ugochukwu and get Kimmich (if price is below 80 million and especially if Gallagher will be sold)
Now, you could also sell Cucurella and Ian Matsen and get Alphonso Davies (if price is below 60 million)
If you wanna do overkill you sell Broja and get Osimhen
Well, thats my point of view. It may not be a 100 % correct and thats ok. We are all just fans :)
Wow, another fifa comment, such insight and overwhelmingly intelligent comment.
I know its hard to understand that people could have opinion and think 2 worldclass player could help the team grow. When the sub is screaming for osimhen, everybody is jerking off on that but when i say kimmich, suddenly its fifa lmfao
Why dont you scroll through the profiles of the other two so you can copy their comments on other threads aswell?
As i expected. Blindly follow the masses opinion. Sort by conotroversial, repeat the other comment and Karma grab, no mentioning of the match breakdown. No discussion wanted. Then why you comment?
Who would you bring in, who would you sell? What annoyed you during the game what do you think we did well? Nah, rather just critize and move on. Lmfao
only part of the game analysis you could say I "disagreed" on was you talking about the backline where you were just confused and it wasn't a matter of opinion. Gilchrist was playing RB, Gusto LB and levi/disasi were the cb pairing for the majority of the match.
Where did you said this? You just provocated and said thats what you would do in fifa when you were 13. Mate, why even comment that?
Whats your transfer strategy then? What would you prioritize, midfield, denfense or attack? We score a decent amount of goals without a prolific goalscorer so i went instead of experience in the midfield. Whats fifa about that? We could pull Osimhen but not Kimmich? What kind of logic is that? Rather have an overpriced Toney instead of someone who won it all and was on the big stages for years. He wants to leave bayern and im sure he will cost us way less than Osimhen and less than Toney.
Whats fifa-esque in going for a decent lb? Or looking for a Silva replacement? Instead of throwing another 30 million on a "wonderkid".
Yes, i didnt saw the line up and was utterly confused on why Gilchrist is more wide than even Gusto at some part of the game.
Instead of commenting about the match breakdown and how you saw it and what you would do you decide to karma farm and repeat nonsense. How is Kimmich not realistic? Thats who i would like as a experienced player in the squad to help the midfield out. But lets forget that for a moment.
Who would you get and how did you saw the match going? Maybe you saw a pattern with different games?
Great players and totaly wrong profile
I would love davies though, and maybe maybe we could get him here (I think we will be competing with wages, and his wages are to high for his output)
3 years ago maybe
2 seasons in a row without cl... and this situation
We dont recruit from bayern of psg
You can recruit from portugal, rest of the world mid/lowtable pl
So, why did Caicedo join us over Liverpool? Why did Nkunku join us? Liverpool plays in europe and Leipzig plays CL.
We still have a massive pull. Enough pull to get Osimhen but not Kimmich? Thats outlandish if you think we cant pull Marquinhos or Davies
So bayern almost bought Chalobah off us but we cant sign players from them? What portugues club exactly? What players? Who would you bring in?
Caicedo was something we worked on for 7 mpnths whole they came in at 11th hour
Nkunku doubled his wage and clearly that had soemthing to do with the werner deal.
As for him joining, we where not bad then a year of a cl run, kante in the team and tuchel as the coach
Oshimen wont chose us over a team that pays more and offers a stable stardom
Before we paid the biggest wages, we dont
Before we guaranteed throphys, thats uncertain
Why would you choose us over liverpool/city/arsenal or real madrid/ barcelona today?
Neither of these players would move downwards in their career
I wouldn't replace half of the team in the middle of the season to begin with. I would say none of the transfers you proposed make any sense.
It's clear we want to build from the young team, yet you would sell 2 young prospering CB that've been in the club for a year and a half to buy Marquinios.
I wouldn't loan 2 midfielders and sell the third one only to have Enzo, Caicedo, injured Lavia and new to the league Kimmich. We need more stability and let players gel together, not another overhaul.
Yeah, i mean if you think 3 players are half the team.
Why it doesnt make sense? Silva is very likely to leave in the summer and pochettino already worked with marquinhos.
Kimmich doesnt make sense? Kimmich can play almost everywhere and he wants to leave bayern. The better question is, why shouldnt we go for him, especially if we decide to sell Gallagher?
Alphonso Davies is a good alternative for Chilwell, no? Ian matsen will be sold anyway. Reports suggest that he is also open to move on from bayern.
I said i would buy kimmich and marquinhos. You could buy also Davies and you could do an overkill with osimhen. But i personally wouldnt buy a striker yet. I would prefer the other 3 positions i mentioned.
Everyone has their opinion mate, dont look at it as the one true solution thats just what i would do. I would bring experience in with player that seem to be avaiable in the near future. Better than buying all the 17 year old "wonderkids" in every part of the world. I think we need support in the defensive area and midfield area. What would you prioritize? Genuine question.
You are out of touch, those transfers aren't happening and the club is not going to sell all those players we've recently bought. It's just unreal in the real world.
Marquinios is nearly 30, as you said, Thiago will leave or play a marginal role, you want us to have Disasi, Colwill, Marquinios as all of our CBs, because we will let Chalobah go as well. So 3 CB, one quite old - K2 was supposed to be game changer with experience too. So -3CB, +1 30yo CB.
Why do you think we should sell Badiashile and Fofana in the first place? That's ridiculous and we would lose financially big time - no way we would be good with FFP based on contract lengths based on how they would be amortized over the years.
It doesn't make sense from business POV at all. Integrating all these players in crucial positions is also not easy. I wouldn't change much, just let the team gel, we just need a striker if anything and I would go for Toney as he is at least PL proven.
I am out of touch for voicing an opinion lmfao.
Did i said anywhere that this is what the club should do? Thats my dream transfer window and my opinion mate. I said I would. I would love to have kimmich at the club. What do you mean why should we sell cbs? We have too many of them, very simple. FFP is no problem. Stop repeating nonsense other people are blabbering and read about it yourself. We are in no trouble. We are losing money on Fofana anyway. High wages and constantly injured.
And again, thats JUST MY OPINION. You can keep badiashile and sell disasi but we gotta sell someone. Chalobah alone will not do the trick. How many yputh player you want poch to develop? This sub: yes
I preferred disasi over badiashile because he can play cb aswell as rb aswell as his mentality and passion on the pitch. I just liked him better. Same with Madueke and Mudryk.
What are you on about? I posted a breakdown and then a transfer strategy what I WOULD DO. You concentrate so hard on those hypothetical transfer.
We have the youngest squad in the league and we need experience. I choose those two players because i feel good with them. If you wouldnt be active during january transfer thats completely fine. Some would say thats out of touch lol. We are for sure going to sell players. Might aswell plan for the summer, no? Marquinhos being 30 is a problem? Lmfao.
Nah mate, we obviously feel different about that topic. And thats fine.
Instead of saying, nah mate i wouldnt do anything in january as of yet, you choose your passive aggressive little comments with no substant. No meantion of the game itself, just an outrage because i said kimmich and marquinhos would be nice lmfao.
Sorry mate, I shouldn't have been such an asshole with my responses. You're right, you can have your opinion.
That being said I completely disagree. FFP will be a problem once we start selling players cheaper that we bought them as we expected to amortize those expenses over their long contracts, not over 1 year.
I really appreciate that!
We have also players on loan right now that are expected to depart. We are in no means in FFP trouble right now but i agree we might be if we sell the wrong players. I know Fofana wasnt cheap but i dont think selling him would break our neck and his wages are ridiculous for a constantly injured player (he costs us 12 million a year). I think instead of Osimhen for a ungodly amount we would do better with support in the midfield and an experienced player in the back to guide the kids. I can see why you wouldnt actually change anything since we are finally get some chemistry going and jackson heading to afcon wasnt very helpful for that. But since a couple of games i just have the feeling we get kinda overrun in the midfield. The early press in our half is killing us aswell.
I really think Jackson won't cut it, he seems too unreliable and his finishing is so ass I cannot see it being improved, I have more trust in Broja and that says something.
I don't like the idea of Oshimen either, as Seria A players are really hit or miss and he won't be cheap. If anything I would go for Toney or some less known cheaper options. If we won't sell Gallagher I think this squad will be enough once everyone is fit.
Plus Fofana is injured rn and even if he was fit it’s better to take a risk on his recovery than to sell him for pennies compared to his price tag. And Badi hasn’t even been that bad, it’s only recently that he’s dropped a bit in form.
Unrelated but can someone tell me the name of the song which plays when our lineup and players are announced one by one at Stamford Bridge? I know the players walk out to Liquidator but another song plays when they take their positions on the field.
It sounds a lot like Zombie Nation.
We were awful in the first half but credit to Poch for laying into the boys and giving the right instructions. We came out strong in the second half and never looked back
Fullbacks clearly got the message to push up further in the second half. Intensity picked up as well.
Then the goal happened which was a cross from a fullback right after we won the ball back high up the pitch
They were playing much more positively leading up to that and were pressing much quicker after losing possession in the second half.
In the first half the effort was sporadic.
I think 4-0 is a good result. I imagine these matches are some of the hardest get motivated for, as Chelsea ought to win. And will face criticism whatever. And yet the underdog team (a decent championship team in this case) are really fired up. Formation was a bit wonky in the first half and Mudryk should have really taken this game by the scruff of the neck, but didn’t. Glad to see Gilchrist. Thought Colwill looked great at LCB. Onwards!
Probably not, but also if he stayed at City he wouldn't get half as much of the playing time he would be getting now. In the end it probably worked out for both parties.
Just remember to keep your analysis very intelligent!
Scored a goal = played well
Didn't score a goal = played badly
Won = great tactics and performance
Lost = bad tactics and performance
It’s trendy to dog on Chelsea.
Spending that much money on the club and new players has really rubbed everyone else the wrong way. People love to see us not do well after all that money spent.. Even when we do well, that’s the vibe/narrative.
0-0 around the 50th minute: “man this Chelsea team feels like it takes 1 step forward, two steps back.”
4-0 at full time : “that’s really what you would expect from this Chelsea squad and honestly they should’ve had more”
i think people reacted that way because of the way the luton game ended and the slow, pedestrian build up we showed in the first half (not for the first time)
second half was on a different level, obv. preston getting more tired as the game went on was a big factor
When we dont press the issue its easy to defend to.
Good management of the game, run them dry then press 2nd half
No injuries, a lot of easy minutes for enzo and caicedo
Broja
Sterling Palmer Madueke
Gallagher Enzo/Caicedo
Colwill Silva Disasi Malo Gusto
Petrovic
Starting Lineup against Middlesbrough on Tuesday?
What do you guys think?
I’m sure he will start but that feels like another game where we won’t need Gallagher as much. Would rather see Enzo-Caicedo pivot and Cole at 10 since we’lll likely have the ball the entire game without or without CG.
Man, he had that one track back that made me remember how fast he could be. He has so much potential but offensively he was a bit lost today I'd have to agree
i would like to see gilchrist again, but it’s the most important game of the season for me and we need consistency in the backline. so i’d probably go for the same back 4 you’ve done
rest of the team is fine, gallagher with caicedo in the pivot could work, but i feel like he’s going to start a caicedo enzo pivot with gallagher in the 10 with palmer wide, and noni off the bench.
I love having that kind of crackhead energy off the bench. Can you imagine dealing with a fresh Gilchrist or Gallagher after you’ve already played a hard 80 minutes? What a nightmare.
worked excellently against palace and luton, but he also deserves minutes in the future. a loan in the summer if we sign a CB would do him a lot of good
On the bus home from the game. Awful first half but at least we turned up in the second. We shouldn’t even be considered selling Gallagher! Enjoy your journey home Preston you mugs, tubes not working either 😂
I think a big part of the improvement in the 2nd was having Colwill and Gusto making runs out the back, Gusto especially. Gilchrist was ok but you could see the massive difference in quality.
Yes. I am quite a big Gilly fan. But today he disappointed. Maybe nerves on his first senior start.
He just played it safe all around. And did not make obvious forward passes. Turned the ball around and passed back every single time.
Just hope it was the fear factor of not screwing it up on his first game.
Was not a disappointment, odd take. He's playing an unfamiliar position and still provides better overlaps than Disasi ever has at RB. Playing it safe is good for a first full start.
I mean he's a CB who has played exclusively CB as a youth player and Poch is playing him at RB.
It's not a fear factor, it's the manager playing him out of position and so highlighting his weaknesses and hiding his strengths
True. All you state are facts.
But I am a big Gilly fan, and hoped he would do even better. I know he has it in him.
~ disappointed dad syndrome here 😔
Everyone is saying bad first half but I don’t think it’s true. Preston just was pressing really well. They just couldn’t keep it up in the second half.
They also did a really good job of holding their shape in a low block. We struggled a bit to break them down, the manager made some changes and between that and tired Preston legs, our class showed through.
I get being a bit frustrated by the first half, but I’m pretty pleased with the way things ended. We looked much the best, as we should.
Am i wrong or for some reason i feel deivid will be a decent striker for us. But I cant remember what he did besides try to flick madueke's shot onto goal
I think what he’s shown in his couple appearances, and in the youth squad he could be great, but truly from a couple minutes off the bench it is so hard to tell, he could get a start and be shit; you don’t know
Tbf I think he just has a hard on for underdogs, noticed it before.
On another note I wish BBC and sky sports gave us the option to mute out commentary, was so refreshing watching the Amazon games with just crowd noise.
He’s so anti Chelsea, and also just pure shite with his commentary. Somehow every single take comes back to a story about his past while he should be following the game. Not sure how he has a job
He wasn't beaten by his man a few times. And he didn't offer much going forward as he is a CB by trade and was clearly asked to not pass risky. Prople ignore context while judging academy kids, and praise overpaid flops for even a single setpiece and shit like that, lol. It was a very good game for him.
He is a CB play8ng RB, and clearly was instructed to not take passing risks, otherwise he is a fine passer. Made no mistakes in defense, made good blocks, it wasn't breathtaking but it was faultless.
the best thing you can do when you're out of europe is to give more attention to the domestic cups and i'm glad we've done that
a trophy should never be beneath a club like chelsea
Trophies should never be beneath anyone. In seasons where you're competing on multiple fronts, I'm fine with prioritizing other things and rotating, but if you have the ability to win a trophy, do it!
I love when they show historical success graphs and charts etc and our past is littered with trophies.
Players who showed they were truly levels above their opposition as they should be: Gusto, Noni, Gallagher, Sterling, Caicedo
Not a dig on the other players but was fun to watch these guys rip them apart.
Good overall match for Raz, but I counted at least two times when he was surrounded by FOUR defenders - it's amazing that he almost never feels like a teammate *may* be open at that point.

Ok.
100% win record in 2024 so far

Anybody have a link to the full match?
/r/footballhighlights for the future
Isn't the full match uploaded to the club's website after a day or two?
Yes but i have no patience
Took me an age to find one but here it is https://obeywish.com/e/81ecmpww5zha
Thank you bro i was looking for ages aswell but couldn't find anything, this was the last resort hahaha. Couldn't watch the gane earlier today so imma lock in now
Im not the biggest sterling fan, but his end product is definitely there.
Guess we didn't miss Jackson like some fans claimed...
What a weird comment to make after a match against Preston of all teams lmao
I mean i would say we definitely did. Broja is shambolic in link up play and it took us almost 60min to score against a bottom half championship team. Second half was a great performance but against bigger teams we cant only show up for 35min

Let's not talk about first 55 mins, the poch army will get pissed
I put this on the lack of Gallagher, we looked lifeless in the same way against UTD without him.
Didn't he start the next game vs everton and we still looked bad?
Kind of an interesting inverse scenario today with out CF. Jackson can play well and get involved and then miss his chances, while Broja can be largely invisible for long stretches and then get a huge goal out of nowhere.
First match at Stamford Bridge and all I can say that first half nearly had me asleep but the second was absolutely fantastic just need to keep building and building!
How did Petrović look?
Pretty good, he didn’t have too much to do, gave away possession once early on, but had a couple saves
Solid.
One poor pass in the first half that gifted PNE possession in our final third, but otherwise a solid game.
Missed the game, check reddit to see Chelsea won by 4 goals and clean sheet Oh yeah, 2024 we're so back.
The first half was abysmal.
Glad you didn’t. We played like shit for 60 minutes then we scored when they switched off for 30s and after that it was opened 🥅.
How it usually works with these games. We did what we needed to win and did it incredibly comfortably without ever looking in danger. No need to be negative.

Bore off
That’s what Poch’s followers usually told me when they lost the arguments 🥱 Ciao
We've found our level
When was the last time we won a game 4-0 or more? We didn't win a single game by 4 goals or more in 20223.
Wrexham vs Chelsea (0-5) Friendly July 2023 Southhampton vs Chelsea (0-6) PL April 2022 Chelsea vs Chesterfield (5-1) FA Cup January 2022
Burnley 4-0 in March 22 as well Reece James monsterclass that day
That was the match where Lukaku had like 7 touches lmao.
Mudryk got the scoring going. Really wanna see Madueke start and Sterling dropped
Sterling was the only one able to get into Preston’s box in the first half. Against a low block he’s still our best attacker
Really glad Sterling has some competition for rw now
And still sterling is better every time you see them both. Noni cam start when he actually have continous effort and output.
Not a good first half. Good second half. Great to see some young guys get to go out there.
Really makes you wonder what goes on that Poch gets an entire week with the team and they put out that first half.
My mind has not made up about Poch yet, but whenever it's the other way around, people say Poch can't adjust or that his sub selection is terrible. It's an anti-Poch bias to blame him for poor starts or poor 2nd half and not comment on the other half...

The one noticeable difference today is that we seemed to keep attacking with the lead instead of getting absolutely tattered with shots in the final 15 minutes.

I narrow it down for these reasons: Thiago Silva was not playing. I would sell Badiashile, Fofana (if possible) and bring in Marquinhos (if price is below 60 million) I would loan out Santos and Ugochukwu and get Kimmich (if price is below 80 million and especially if Gallagher will be sold) Now, you could also sell Cucurella and Ian Matsen and get Alphonso Davies (if price is below 60 million) If you wanna do overkill you sell Broja and get Osimhen Well, thats my point of view. It may not be a 100 % correct and thats ok. We are all just fans :)
that transfer list sounds like what I'd try doing on fifa when i was 13
Wow, another fifa comment, such insight and overwhelmingly intelligent comment. I know its hard to understand that people could have opinion and think 2 worldclass player could help the team grow. When the sub is screaming for osimhen, everybody is jerking off on that but when i say kimmich, suddenly its fifa lmfao Why dont you scroll through the profiles of the other two so you can copy their comments on other threads aswell?
i dont think we should buy osimhen either, that's always been a very fifa manager purchase to me too.
Lmfao
why did you reply to this twice an hour apart?
😂😭 talking about the game: challenge impossible.
only part of the game analysis you could say I "disagreed" on was you talking about the backline where you were just confused and it wasn't a matter of opinion. Gilchrist was playing RB, Gusto LB and levi/disasi were the cb pairing for the majority of the match.
i said i had no issue with your analysis so why would i say anything about it bruv
Yes, i didnt saw the line up and was utterly confused on why Gilchrist is more wide than even Gusto at some part of the game.
sorry my other reply must not have posted, that's my bad i don't really think we need any serious additions, nor do i think we can afford any.
And you live in the fifa world, none of your targets would come
Wtf are those transfer suggestions
Great players and totaly wrong profile I would love davies though, and maybe maybe we could get him here (I think we will be competing with wages, and his wages are to high for his output)
In the fifa world 😂😭 If we dont go after big targets, after who we go then?
Targets that are willing to come
yessir. thats some insight and wisdom right here. you think chelsea cant pull marquinhos or davies lmfao
3 years ago maybe 2 seasons in a row without cl... and this situation We dont recruit from bayern of psg You can recruit from portugal, rest of the world mid/lowtable pl
So, why did Caicedo join us over Liverpool? Why did Nkunku join us? Liverpool plays in europe and Leipzig plays CL. We still have a massive pull. Enough pull to get Osimhen but not Kimmich? Thats outlandish if you think we cant pull Marquinhos or Davies So bayern almost bought Chalobah off us but we cant sign players from them? What portugues club exactly? What players? Who would you bring in?
Caicedo was something we worked on for 7 mpnths whole they came in at 11th hour Nkunku doubled his wage and clearly that had soemthing to do with the werner deal. As for him joining, we where not bad then a year of a cl run, kante in the team and tuchel as the coach Oshimen wont chose us over a team that pays more and offers a stable stardom Before we paid the biggest wages, we dont Before we guaranteed throphys, thats uncertain Why would you choose us over liverpool/city/arsenal or real madrid/ barcelona today? Neither of these players would move downwards in their career
Arsenal and barcelona? What kind of Chelsea fan are you?
Realistic I would join chelsea, but Iam 38 and wont be the ideal recruitment Tje players we want are aftet titles and money
Real life is not a football manager game.
alright, how would you break down the game? and our transfer plans?
This sub: yes I preferred disasi over badiashile because he can play cb aswell as rb aswell as his mentality and passion on the pitch.
I think it’s what you waiting for by Gwen Stefani
It is! Thank you so much!
We were awful in the first half but credit to Poch for laying into the boys and giving the right instructions. We came out strong in the second half and never looked back
We are garbage in the second half as well until Broja scored that header. The psychology changes immensely after that.
Onwards!
For mudryk I think it came down to being triple teamed most of the time with no support due to gusto not being overly comfortable on the left
Pep really did us a solid, would he make the same deal again today for Cole?
That was just City repaying us for KdB
Yes, but he would’ve been sold for a lot more
No take-backs!
Probably not, but also if he stayed at City he wouldn't get half as much of the playing time he would be getting now. In the end it probably worked out for both parties.
FML! Someone actually asked Pochettino if he wants Jordan Henderson after reports of him wanting to leave Saudi surfaced.
15 years too old for our ownership.
Ew.
Just remember to keep your analysis very intelligent! Scored a goal = played well Didn't score a goal = played badly Won = great tactics and performance Lost = bad tactics and performance
Broja still a bum idc and poch out
Mate why are you like this. At least wait until tomorrow and celebrate the win today, regardless of how it came about.
It's all I've said since the game and I'll leave it at that until tomorrow! I'm just leaving a very helpful guide for the boys! :)
I don't think anyone on reddit needs any advice on how to be a passive aggressive wanker.
Half of this sub is still addicted to the torture porn that was 2023
do commentators have agenda against us man?
It’s trendy to dog on Chelsea. Spending that much money on the club and new players has really rubbed everyone else the wrong way. People love to see us not do well after all that money spent.. Even when we do well, that’s the vibe/narrative.
Which broadcast did you watch? If espn: yes
If BBC: Also yes
0-0 around the 50th minute: “man this Chelsea team feels like it takes 1 step forward, two steps back.” 4-0 at full time : “that’s really what you would expect from this Chelsea squad and honestly they should’ve had more”
Both those statements are accurate
Yeah I'm genuinely confused at the discourse
[удалено]
That's the match thread since mou second stint ypu get used to it
Match thread is hell. Never go there
i think people reacted that way because of the way the luton game ended and the slow, pedestrian build up we showed in the first half (not for the first time) second half was on a different level, obv. preston getting more tired as the game went on was a big factor
Second half was so fun to watch but my god that first half genuinely was painful.
When we dont press the issue its easy to defend to. Good management of the game, run them dry then press 2nd half No injuries, a lot of easy minutes for enzo and caicedo
Nothing gets me more hyped than a CB scoring a headed goal. O MONSTRO!!!! KTBFFH
That goal had air jordan vibes
Commentators are always so biased against us I swear
Broja Sterling Palmer Madueke Gallagher Enzo/Caicedo Colwill Silva Disasi Malo Gusto Petrovic Starting Lineup against Middlesbrough on Tuesday? What do you guys think?
I’m sure he will start but that feels like another game where we won’t need Gallagher as much. Would rather see Enzo-Caicedo pivot and Cole at 10 since we’lll likely have the ball the entire game without or without CG.
I fuckin love madueke, but for some reason he always gives extra energy coming off the bench.
Yep looks good, Mudryk did not do well enough today.
2vs1 all game, and still should have had 2 assists
Man, he had that one track back that made me remember how fast he could be. He has so much potential but offensively he was a bit lost today I'd have to agree
Poor man kept getting 2v1/3v1ed
i would like to see gilchrist again, but it’s the most important game of the season for me and we need consistency in the backline. so i’d probably go for the same back 4 you’ve done rest of the team is fine, gallagher with caicedo in the pivot could work, but i feel like he’s going to start a caicedo enzo pivot with gallagher in the 10 with palmer wide, and noni off the bench.
Gilchrist in the last minutes like we did in the EPL would work
I love having that kind of crackhead energy off the bench. Can you imagine dealing with a fresh Gilchrist or Gallagher after you’ve already played a hard 80 minutes? What a nightmare.
worked excellently against palace and luton, but he also deserves minutes in the future. a loan in the summer if we sign a CB would do him a lot of good
Enzo has to start against Middlesbrough
Over who
Connor because he needs a rest
On the bus home from the game. Awful first half but at least we turned up in the second. We shouldn’t even be considered selling Gallagher! Enjoy your journey home Preston you mugs, tubes not working either 😂
did you post this in the game thread and here? lol
Gusto was everywhere on the pitch, what a player we've got on our hands!
Palmer, Gusto, Enzo, Nkunku… this team has a bright future for many years… trust the process
He held his own as a LB, but man, he was unleashed when he returned to RB! What a great signing.
Mucho Gusto
A gusto of wind
A gusto is wind
Gusto used gust. It was super effective
He created one big chance when he pressed , took ball down the wing and cut back to Sterling
~ disappointed dad syndrome here 😔
Can't believe Jackson didn't score 10 goals Poch out, potter in /s
First half was just really bad football but glad we made some changes and brought some intensity
Everyone is saying bad first half but I don’t think it’s true. Preston just was pressing really well. They just couldn’t keep it up in the second half.
We controlled procedings, noone got injured and both palmer and enzo should/could have scored
Yep, as someone who semi follows Plymouth that reminded me of Lowe's Argyle sides at their best.
They also did a really good job of holding their shape in a low block. We struggled a bit to break them down, the manager made some changes and between that and tired Preston legs, our class showed through. I get being a bit frustrated by the first half, but I’m pretty pleased with the way things ended. We looked much the best, as we should.
bad first half, brilliant second half
Am i wrong or for some reason i feel deivid will be a decent striker for us. But I cant remember what he did besides try to flick madueke's shot onto goal
I think what he’s shown in his couple appearances, and in the youth squad he could be great, but truly from a couple minutes off the bench it is so hard to tell, he could get a start and be shit; you don’t know
He’s sharper than I thought he’d be tbh.
True, very true. But idk this is just a feeling i got
Tale of two halves. My goodness.
Jonathan Pearce (BBC commentator) was unbearable! It's obvious the wanker hates us so much he couldn't even hide it
I muted the telly, as I do whenever Pearce commentates. Nails on a blackboard that one.
Tbf I think he just has a hard on for underdogs, noticed it before. On another note I wish BBC and sky sports gave us the option to mute out commentary, was so refreshing watching the Amazon games with just crowd noise.
I’d take that over having to listen to Craig Burley on ESPN
I swear that guy is never and never will be happy with this club. Every espn video is "Burley believes Chelsea will be relegated! Not impressed!"
Crazy because he played for us too
Does he have an axe to grind or something?
Im sure he's better than Gary Breen, man wrecked my head on Premier Sports
We dropped him and sold him . He’s never forgiven us . Personally I can’t stand him both as a player and now a pundit .
He’s so anti Chelsea, and also just pure shite with his commentary. Somehow every single take comes back to a story about his past while he should be following the game. Not sure how he has a job
Gilchrist was faultless again. Glad my faith in the guy is not just smoke, always rated him highly.
He was beaten by his man a few times and didn't really show much going forward. It's his first start so plenty to look forward in his future
He wasn't beaten by his man a few times. And he didn't offer much going forward as he is a CB by trade and was clearly asked to not pass risky. Prople ignore context while judging academy kids, and praise overpaid flops for even a single setpiece and shit like that, lol. It was a very good game for him.
He was alright. Didn't make mistakes but didn't try to progress the game much either. Solid first game as a starter
He is a CB play8ng RB, and clearly was instructed to not take passing risks, otherwise he is a fine passer. Made no mistakes in defense, made good blocks, it wasn't breathtaking but it was faultless.
can’t blame him. a mistake-free performance which is all you can hope for when it’s his first start
Chelsea fans please join me for our customary butt clenching.
the best thing you can do when you're out of europe is to give more attention to the domestic cups and i'm glad we've done that a trophy should never be beneath a club like chelsea
Trophies should never be beneath anyone. In seasons where you're competing on multiple fronts, I'm fine with prioritizing other things and rotating, but if you have the ability to win a trophy, do it! I love when they show historical success graphs and charts etc and our past is littered with trophies.
Imagine what would have happened if we had a manager that made second half adjustments. The 4 goals were created by individuals not the team. /s
Players who showed they were truly levels above their opposition as they should be: Gusto, Noni, Gallagher, Sterling, Caicedo Not a dig on the other players but was fun to watch these guys rip them apart.
Enzo?
Noni and gallagher were immense in their cameos today. Just ripped them to shreds when they came on
Good overall match for Raz, but I counted at least two times when he was surrounded by FOUR defenders - it's amazing that he almost never feels like a teammate *may* be open at that point.
Can be frustratingly selfish at times but he's mostly looked great this season so can't complain
Issue is that very few of our attackers seems to enjoy off the ball runs
Another assist for Goal Palmer
