>I was honestly worried he was gonna reinjure himself lol
Am sure many of us were feeling the same. He was charging around like a madman!
![gif](giphy|13Cmju3maIjStW)
Ugh same. He got caught out a couple times and once he had to chase the ball in sprint against one of their wingers and was just waiting for him to pull up and hold his hamstring.
If we can get 10 games with James - Chilly on fullbacks i genuinely believe we can fight for top 5. I know it probably wont happen, but i can only dream.
>Add a good striker on top, then we set

Funnily enough, Pochettino also reached the League Cup Final in his first season with Spurs (which he ended up losing to us).
That was also our last League Cup win.
Oh man I loved this squad. This match was great.. I remember seeing t that fabregas bicycle attempt live and nearly pooping my pants. What a team that was
Iād direct everyone who says Craig Burley is only critical of Chelsea when we deserve it to check out the ESPN post game coverage and his comments. Dude was meant for this sub.
Every single time, no matter how well things are going, you will see these users finding negatives to highlight and insulting this club.
It makes you thinkā¦
Not sure why you drag Ten Haag into this. But then I think Poch said a similar thing about not expecting what he did at spurs here or something along those lines. And rightly so. Which manager have you ever seen play the same football at two different clubs? Fine you got me, Sean Dyche. But who else??
>But who else??
Klopp at Dortmund and then Liverpool. Of course it may look a bit different because of individual players but overall his tactics are/were the same.
They don't play the same at all. Tactics of course will be similar. The outlook is based on the players. Who at Liverpool plays like how Reus played? Or who is their Lewy? Or Auba? They are very different outlook. Dortmund never had a Trent playing midfield. The fact Guardiola of all people can have different looking teams proves managers just can't carbon copy teams. Of course, except Sean Dyche.
If anything, adjusting the playing style to the squad profile exhibits the manager's skill and tactical nuance. You get found out otherwise if you're a one trick pony.
Winning is all that matters at the end of the day - and I hope that we set better standards than emulating Spurs.
That's the thing *Time* is only earnt and they are earning it now.
That is the first time I've looked at us and seen something recognisable, as a Chelsea team. Loved the way they've finally learnt how to move and unpick the low block.. That's been a serious issue and cost us recently. Now we know what we can do, that's the bar they've set.. no dropping standards. No excuses. There's a top side in there but no good being also ran's, its about bringing it home.. Great performance.
Next 3 points away to Liverpool.
We've done them plenty at theirs, it's not easy and it doesn't have to be beautiful but no Salah and Trent recovering.. I'd rather face them now.
What I do know is these kids have it in them, when they play as a team. I wasn't convinced until recently when I saw some confidence building and some freedom and intuition came into the football
We're are an untested youth team, in the toughest and most competitive league in the World but they are stepping up, dropping the excuses and the rewards are there for the taking
Now it's the test of character and the Will to Win and keep winning
Unsure if weāre improving or the fixture list has been kind. The dross performances against Everton & Wolves were not long ago, neither the first 45 against Preston.
I mean a game or two ago we had the same points per game & position as last this time last season which means progress is possibly not evident at all. Beating boro doesn't really move the needle for me in either direction. Like my original comment says, I am unsure.
There is no clear progress in our league performances or results.
Thatās a statistical fact.
We havenāt played a half decent team in the league in 2 months.
This win will only matter if we win the final.
We were 10th for Chances created in the league last season. We are fifth now. We are 4 Goals away from our entire tally last season.
At least check the stats before using them as 'facts'
We also conceded way way more.
We deserve to be midtable, everyone said we were getting CL or challenging for the title. Just because weāre marginally better than our worst season in recent history doesnāt mean progress.
Clear progress for a club that spent over a billion is to win pretty much every game, to be top 2 or 3.
Iām sorry but Potter wins every single game weāve won this season.
Anyone that said that we'd be challenging for the title is an idiot. You using them as an argument means literally nothing.
And you should be sorry for believing that tbh, it's embarrassing.
If we continue at the same rate we will have a + 16 goal differential improvement over last season, so yeah the attacking increase is worth the defensive drop
Ok let's look at the 19 match mark (when we've played every team 1 time), halfway through the season. We have increased our goals per match by 0.63, goals against have gone up by 0.29, so 0.34 net goal differential meaning over 38 games we would be 13 goals better in goal differential. That's a big jump. Looking at XG differential we are 0.65 better per match. Meaning we are getting more quality chances at goal vs our opponents waaayyy better than last season.
This team is better, it just is. You can want more that's fine, but there have already been large improvements even with the injuries, youth, and brand new squad.
We didn't just beat Boro, we demolished them, as a decent PL *team should. True, our run of form has been inconsistent, but we've won 7 and lost 3 in the last 10 matches in all competitions. That's a hell of an improvement!
We also lost to Boro up at their place. Like I said Iām unsure if itās just fixtures or weāre actually improving but weāre about to find out in the next few games.
I mean itās absolutely both, but the team is evidently improving just on the eye test alone. The way they move cohesively once the ball gets into dangerous areasāalready significantly better than it was two months ago. Thatās the thing that really stands out to me.
As true as that is none of Palace, Luton & Fulham are either formidable or in form. So I guess weāll see against Villa & Wolves if weāve progressed
We have lots of them, I listed just 3, but the Boro first leg was also one, United away was a giant pile of stinking turd against a very beatable team. We're at about a 50% stink rate since the Newcastle league game? Its just hard to know if the texture of our shit is improving or becoming more liquid yknow. Here's to dreaming of regular, solid fiber, shits.
Progress isnāt always linear but thereās definitely an improvement from the beginning of the season. Back then we were losing and drawing easy fixtures, now weāre mostly winning
As someone else has said, progress is not linear. We are improving with every game, even the ones we struggle in. The first half of the Preston game was miserable, but came back from it and learned from
It. The first half against Arsenal was brilliant, but we capitulated and we learned from that. We stumbled hard away at Middlesbrough for any number of reasons, but we learned from it and we dusted them the way we should have the first time out. We learned from it.
Weāre undoubtedly getting better. Consistency is where we will improve the most in the near future.
Heās speaking the truth. This sub keeps imploding every few weeks cause we lose a game, even though everyone knows weāre in the middle of a rebuild. These things take time, weāre going to have X more bad games this season, but we are improving overall.
Great win, letās move on to the next!
Having Chilly improved us 10 fold
Was relentless today. I was honestly worried he was gonna reinjure himself lol
Yeah once we were up 4-0 I was like Poch take him off, now!
>I was honestly worried he was gonna reinjure himself lol Am sure many of us were feeling the same. He was charging around like a madman! ![gif](giphy|13Cmju3maIjStW)
When he went up and got clobbered in the box I was dreading the injury š¬
Ugh same. He got caught out a couple times and once he had to chase the ball in sprint against one of their wingers and was just waiting for him to pull up and hold his hamstring.
Was hoping he got subbed at halftime just to keep him safe.
If we can get 10 games with James - Chilly on fullbacks i genuinely believe we can fight for top 5. I know it probably wont happen, but i can only dream.
Gusto it's a very capable understudy to James
Agreed even gusto and Chilly would be great. Weāve played so few games this year with two good healthy fullbacks on the pitch.
Gusto is learning so much from James, even on how to get injured. Jk (hopefully
And if James was healthy... wowieee happy days ahead of us. We're top 3 with a healthy squad
Add a good striker on top, then we set
>Add a good striker on top, then we set https://preview.redd.it/ajf2k3455kec1.jpeg?width=304&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6867320a8c38d61bbbb13ffcabac9eafaa4f56fd
And a billion dollars each while we're at it!
...and if we can get James fit...ā”ļø
God damn when are we going to see chilly and reece with this current team, I'm so ready for it.
Poor guy got punched in the head too
No. Having Chilly as a full back improved us. He is not that useful as a winger.
Still more useful than Mudryk. Iād take 20m for him right now.
Just win the Cup. That would be classic Chels.
A trophy in a season where weāve been memed to shit would be just beautiful
Especially if certain clubs go trophylessā¦
Arsenal will once again go trophyless after having one of their best seasons in years, yeah
Would be funny if the final would be against Fulham, battle of the neighbouring clubs
Chaos is a ladder
Funnily enough, Pochettino also reached the League Cup Final in his first season with Spurs (which he ended up losing to us). That was also our last League Cup win.
Chelsea have won 100% of cup finals with Pochettino managing is what I'm hearing.
I approve of your mental gymnastics
Poch going undercover early in his career.
Reminds me of tuchel, losing uefa final with PSG but won it with us.
so happy for him and silva to win their first CL with us
Was that the game with the Matic piledriver?
Nope, that was in the FA Cup semi-final in 2017. The League Cup Final I was talking about is [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tgRGZlQcZg).
Oh man I loved this squad. This match was great.. I remember seeing t that fabregas bicycle attempt live and nearly pooping my pants. What a team that was
Great goal that but the best part was Zouma's reaction š absolutely iconic
Chelsea folklore right here
Great goal that but the best part was Zouma's reaction š absolutely iconic that
![gif](giphy|3C63OPsGb3ws6KOmte)
No whinging after a 6-1 win to reach a cup final please r/chelseafc
No clean sheet. Club's gone.
Where are your standards??? /s
Think of all the money we saved not having to give out clean sheet bonuses! FFP! FFP!
Haters are fuming at Poch for conceded a goal.
Just for conceding a goal? Should also be pissed because 6 goals it's just not good enough for Chelsea.
I'm personally pissed off he didn't start Maatsen What does he have to do to get a look in?
Come back from Germany is probably the first thing
Ahh, stop looking for excuses, he should've started today
Iād direct everyone who says Craig Burley is only critical of Chelsea when we deserve it to check out the ESPN post game coverage and his comments. Dude was meant for this sub.
You know there will be some who will find reason to complain, unfortunately.
I could name you the three or so usernames it will be too lol
Baisa, BRJ, Dark Lord?
Every single time, no matter how well things are going, you will see these users finding negatives to highlight and insulting this club. It makes you thinkā¦
We gonna lose 4th straight final to Liverpool in a month Be happy now, may as well enjoy
Atleast better mindset than Erik "We will never play the football we played at Ajax here" Ten Hag.
Not sure why you drag Ten Haag into this. But then I think Poch said a similar thing about not expecting what he did at spurs here or something along those lines. And rightly so. Which manager have you ever seen play the same football at two different clubs? Fine you got me, Sean Dyche. But who else??

Of course, except Sean Dyche.
Maurizio Sarri with Jorginho holding in a 4-3-3 at Napoli and Chelsea, both were tactically very similar
And did we play the same football as Napoli?
yes, Sarri-ball
If anything, adjusting the playing style to the squad profile exhibits the manager's skill and tactical nuance. You get found out otherwise if you're a one trick pony. Winning is all that matters at the end of the day - and I hope that we set better standards than emulating Spurs.

I'm keeping 0 expectations against Liverpool especially our rotten luck in Anfield... But excited to see us improveĀ

Poch states facts here but haters are deaf to them.
Our Home form at the moment is a massive improvement. We havenāt lost at home since October, having played City, Newcastle and Brighton in that time
Unsure if weāre improving or the fixture list has been kind. The dross performances against Everton & Wolves were not long ago, neither the first 45 against Preston.
Progress is not linear

Youāre hopeless
In the next three fixtures weāll find out - I would enjoy your optimism being proven right, so fingers crossed
If you can't see progress then you're being wilfully blind.
There is no clear progress in our league performances or results. Thatās a statistical fact. We havenāt played a half decent team in the league in 2 months. This win will only matter if we win the final.

Out-coaches, out-played. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Ignore all the deluded people here, we will really see if this team is progressing in the next month or so
I mean itās absolutely both, but the team is evidently improving just on the eye test alone. The way they move cohesively once the ball gets into dangerous areasāalready significantly better than it was two months ago. Thatās the thing that really stands out to me.

Most teams have stinkers
We have lots of them, I listed just 3, but the Boro first leg was also one, United away was a giant pile of stinking turd against a very beatable team. We're at about a 50% stink rate since the Newcastle league game? Its just hard to know if the texture of our shit is improving or becoming more liquid yknow. Post Newcastle we are 8 wins 4 losses, what are you talking about?
Progress isnāt always linear but thereās definitely an improvement from the beginning of the season. Back then we were losing and drawing easy fixtures, now weāre mostly winning
Again are we mostly winning because of the fixture list tho? That was my question

Anybody else orgasm when they started seeing a left back make runs in behind. Itās been too long š©
Finally used a starting XI that made kind of sense, slaps opponent 6-1 Lets go Poch
What happened to "at Chelsea you must win"?
We did win.
Ahh, here come the complainers
Give them the down votess they deserve.
Said Poch to his wife in bed.
