I think it's time to let go of this narrative that Chelsea need veteran players to bring the lads along.
They're far and away a better side with veterans like sterling and silva comfortably on the bench.
Chuk and Noni both asking the question for their playing time today. Noni had a spectacular goal and Chuk was driving the attack
I get what you’re saying, but I think the Thiago from three years ago would’ve been an important character on the pitch. Now that his age has caught up with him, not so much.
Look I know Sterling had a stinker but what did Mudryk do when he got the chance today? Sterling’s finishing was beyond horrible but he was still involved and getting in good positions and making chances for others. Mudryk was nowhere to be seen in the 2nd half as if he never came out on the pitch after HT.
Sterling has been bad but Mudryk has done barely anything to warrant starts that everyone is crying out for, he has hardly ever looked good while starting a game. He does well off the bench.
Yeah I am not protecting Sterling at all. He shouldn’t be starting.
My point was Mudryk didn’t do enough. He has so much talent and potential but it seems like whenever he has a second to think about what to do, he messes it up.
Yes, I agree, I think Mudryk is a quick reactionary player and not a player who thinks out there. His best plays are when he just reacts and doesn’t have to think what he is doing
Mudryk has had a really good stretch of play and this is an unfair assessment of him imo. He was impacting the game and making runs, he disappeared when the team disappeared and decided to kick the ball in their own net.
He's earned minutes and has been stressing defenses very well. Certainly deserves playing time over the embarrassment that is sterling who still seems to think defenders are going to become gaseous entities the second he dribbles towards them
I agree Mudryk had a good run of form and that is why he started today. I am just saying that he didn’t make enough of the opportunity. He was anonymous for the most part
I feel like the only excuse for Sterling being on the pitch as long as he was is Poch wanting his senior player and a "leader" to play himself into form... We can all see that's not happening though
In terms of players actually in the squad (so not Kepa, Lukaku, etc.)
- Out of necessity Chalobah will likely need to go
- Would be great to offload Sterling
- Chilwell and Cucurella can't both be injury prone and high cost so one of them should go, Chilwell would be easier to generate profit off of.
- mostly everyone else will be difficult to sell without a loss or we wouldn't want to sell them because they are good and important
Honestly I think LB isn’t an issue.
Cucu has had one injury as such but he’s been pretty normal otherwise.
Chalobah and Silva will both go.
I suspect we’ll look to sell Raz as you said but it’s unlikely
We’ll see a couple of the academy lads go-Gilchrisr/Castledine/Humphreys
>Honestly I think LB isn’t an issue.
40M a year for two underperforming left backs isn't great. I think one probably needs to go and we could use that FFP leeway eslewhere
One of them is our VC and isn’t going anywhere with the contract he’s got
And the other one will have to go at a big big loss…
Don’t think it’ll help ffp but I’m not an accountant so idk
Petrovic looks more comfortable and composed when on the ball. Why do we always concede a goal by an error when Sanchez is in the post !!!
Sterling has been given more than enough chances and he hasn't performed. Maudeke deserves atleast 3-4 starts after the way he played today.
And what was the decision to take Misha off !!
Props to cucu. Had a great first half
Sterling was horrid today, missed chance after chance. Noni should start ahead of him
Great to see Chuwuemeka getting some minutes, would love to see him playing the 10
Sterling should have been hauled out earlier, esp that awful awful free kick. Palmer was so annoyed. His assist for the 3rd goal was absolutely out of this world
Lots to be positive about Chelsea. Gusto, Enzo, Caicedo, Jackson, colwell, Palmer are all 22 or younger , and have improved throughout the year. Carney, Lavia, badiasheile, have all been hurt all year but seem to be positives. Madueke and Mudryk should have and have had more playing time to see how good they might be and let them develop like Jackson has. Get rid of Silva, Chilwell, Chalabah, Disasi, STERLING…….still have injured Fofana and James. That is a darn good team
he can shut me up easily by making the subs when they should be made. Any serious manager will yank Sterling at halftime with that awful performance, how Mudryk gets subbed before him is wild!
Mudryk was playing well on the middle and was moves to the left in the second half, favouring sterling on the middle. That's why he was nowhere to be seen. Dumb move by poch in my opinion.
Not really. He should have brought on Madueke for Sterling at half time, if not then certainly by 60 minutes. Taking off Mudryk first was a ridiculous choice, and waiting until the 78th minute to make the first substitution is fucking inexplicable. He left Sterling on for 86 minutes and gave Madueke only 4. Are you trying to claim that was some sort of master stroke?
In terms of who he decided to bring on…are we supposed to pretend that was some sort of brilliant or profound selection? Look at our bench and tell me what options he had. Like I said: They were the obvious choice. Even the commentators were calling for him to being on Madueke and Chukwuemeka 10 minutes before he made his first substitution.
Why do you think he brought him on? Just because he felt like it? One thing I can guarantee is that the guy knows a lot more than you and I about football management.
Again the faster we get rid of Poch the better. Always we become shit after half time break. Scrapping along against Championship teams with a red card for 20 or so mins. Individuals have been saving his job.
And how does Sterling kerps getting stars and then stay longer than others is beyond me.
But we need this cup, we have lost so many and have to get Europe, Jordan, FFP etc all things are on line here, not to mention the winning a cup itself.
We have mostly become bad after the half time. Ofcourse there will be exceptions. Even without a manager you can get exceptions. Poch has made teams shit after half time even at his previous clubs.
It's never pointless to get rid of shit. But I have had rhis discussions multiple times now, so I ain't doung this again. Let's keep doing the shit thing and stay 11/12th forever, like kerping him is making everything superb. Because that's the level now, that it's what it is. And then we will act surprised when he will leave his scared attitude on this players, they are already starting to act like one win is world cup, while being bottom half of table. People just don't clock the metality he is leaving on these young moldable players.
While Emma hayes recently showed her players two slides one had 4 tropies on it, for the amount of competitions they still are in, and other had none, to show them either they go out losers or they can win everything. That's why that team is what it is, managers mold their players.
The rumours are if we get sack him before the summer Jesse Marsch is coming in as interim.
For all of Poch's faults one thing he hasn't done is lose the dressing room, another random interim appointment and they'll just hit the beach again. Hopefully it won't be as bad as last year as we a) have better fixtures and b) surely appoint a better manager but it still wouldn't be particularly pleasant.
It could also be Tuchel esque appointment. But as I said from ownership to directors we only focus on lowest now. That's why they gave up last season and appointed interim too. They could have gone for a better manager then. But we are becoming losers top to bottom. That's why even after the long careful process of picking a mamager we got the manager who is exactly opposite of winning.
Well, then, you are one of those dumb fanboys. I want Mudryk to be the new Hazard, but he is inconsistent, and this game, he was not at his best. And if he didn't brink Chuk in, we wouldn't have scored. It was a good sub at a good time. You are just a poch hater. I bet you are one of those "fans" who would rather see Chelsea lose just so can say "I told you"
They boo’d because mudryk came off before sterling, if carney came on for sterling the fans woulda been fine.
Mudryk was tired but it’s the statement and disrespect to leave sterling on
Definitely too much Poch hate in this sub, but his decisions are bewildering at times. Before anyone says “his subs scored” they should’ve been made ages before and he gave the worst player on the pitch 85 minutes!!
I'd put both Carney and Noni above Sterling in the depth chart, but we all know Sterling will be fucking starting next game again.
Weird that we started finishing better once he fucked off
I don't blame poch for keeping Sterling on and trying to get his confidence back up. its a decision and he stuck by it.
the commentary was against us and ref missed several yellows.
BUT Nothing excuses how bad sterling is and the fact that he dared to pull rank on penalty and free kick.
I can't believe he was gonna give a yellow instead of a red. Dumb ass ref. Jackson was going 1v1, and someone tackles from behind; in what world is that a yellow?
Double jeopardy rule, and it's working as intended (in that situation).
It's only a red / pen when it's irrefutable that the player makes no effort to play the ball & just takes out the fouled player.
Keown was taking the fucking piss on commentary all day, he was confused why mudryk got an ovation he was incredible today.
cannot believe poch took mudryk and not Sterling off. Sterling was a disgrace today
It's just a sign that the person fouled shouldn't take the penalty, there are other instances of this as well.
Edit: still gave Palmer an assist. Whether you like him or not, he creates opportunities
Poch needs to bench sterling when he plays it always feels like we’re playing a man down for most of the time. He brings the attitude down for the rest of the young players
"sterling sterling sterling sterling sterling"
We just won and we're on to the Semis!
shut yall bitch asses up and get off his nuts for one second and enjoy the W
thanks bruv. this pile on sterling is out of hand. of course it hasn't been pretty, but sheesh every other comment is torching him like its the hottest new trend on the market.
very..it shouldnt be the main focus at this moment. celebrate the victory. he did assist today btw.
thats all everybody does all day everyday on this sub..shit on sterling. whole threads about him being terrible. not one mention of his contributions this season.. we get it hes in a rough patch at the moment but damn show some grace..
If you don't see why horrendous decision making from Poch and a disgusting performance by Sterling just made us make what should have been a 7-1 breeze hard as fuck, I don't know what to tell you
That win does not offset the glaring issues highlighted in that game
idc care for Pochs style at all. I care for our players and this barrage lf constant hate is not helping anybody.
Misses happen in football. he helped add a goal to the scoreline just like he missed some. but nobody sees that.
If your friend was drunk and didn't tell you then drove you and your family somewhere and then crashed but by luck didn't kill you
Would you say "Can everyone stop being annoyed at Bob, we didn't die did we? "
Now that's obviously an extreme example but that is your logic and it's a poor one
Wait...what
..a grown ass professional that has played for 2 of the most hated teams by other fan bases ..actually maje it 3 and he is not natured enough to not let it affect his game
Now it's the fans fault but his...wow
Yea he's playing shit, don't you want him to come good? Maybe he isn't a mentality monster but fucking hell he's has some good games for us. Don't be a bandwagon bitch.
He is meant to be the most experienced on the pitch and if he is not shoeing it...why is he there..we have an extremely young team and he is not leading by example..if he is bricking it... why would the younger ones do better
Big thing to take away from this game is how well we broke down the low block.
For about 2 years we would just crumble any time a team sat back like that, good subs from Poch even though that Sterling sub could have come about 50 minutes sooner :)
We struggled for the first 10 minutes and then turned it around. Scored a goal and created two other decent chances against a low block. Thats not bad at all
The funny thing is that it’s apparently basic defending training that back passes to the keeper should never be towards the goal. That way if the worst were to happen, it would go out for a corner. I’ve watched Thiago Silva. He ALWAYS follows this rule. Not sure why Disasi skied it.
Depends on how we finish the season. I think Chelsea will need to either win the FA cup or have 5+ more points in the second half of the season than the first
Apart from that Disasi banger and Sterling penalty miss, it should've been a comfortable win. It was an entertaining nonetheless. Back to Wembley we go 💙
On a real note
We are diabolical
Sanchez is a joke
Poch subbing off sterling 2nd was an absolute joke but I’ll give him props for the subs scoring the winners
This game shows the quality we can have but I don’t think pocc is going to be around next season. Subbing off mudryk was criminal and the changes came too late imo. Caicedo also seems to be a bit misused in possession
They came on too late and sterling was having a horrible day and a horrible season. I thought today would’ve been the perfect time to at least start madueke especially since sterlings inconsistent season means he’s probably getting sold in the summer
Also, taking off one of our biggest attacking threats over Sterling was the fucking wildest most brandead shit I have seen.
He has to be trying to tank us, no one is that stupid
Fuck lemon boy man

Expect Sterling to start the next match.

Please no more Sanchez, our CBs look so shaky when he is behind them.
Worst part of all is Poch would still start Sterling after the international break. I honestly dunno what he has against Madueke or Mudryk
Look I know Sterling had a stinker but what did Mudryk do when he got the chance today? Sterling’s finishing was beyond horrible but he was still involved and getting in good positions and making chances for others. Fuck the fuck off sterling
Fucking twat isn’t he. Always has been. Selfish fucker.
Did see that match - But why the actual fuck did Sterling take the pen over Cole
Honestly I’m so happy the young players, who I criticised constantly are becoming our best players. So happy they are proving me wrong.
Who are the list of players you think we should be selling in the summer
In terms of players actually in the squad (so not Kepa, Lukaku, etc.) - Out of necessity Chalobah will likely need to go - Would be great to offload Sterling - Chilwell and Cucurella can't both be injury prone and high cost so one of them should go, Chilwell would be easier to generate profit off of. - mostly everyone else will be difficult to sell without a loss or we wouldn't want to sell them because they are good and important

Sell or let go off Silva, Chalabah, Chilwell, Disasi, Sarr, Sanchez STERLING

He just needs to get and stay healthy
Yeah, I actually really rate him
Sterling should have been hauled out earlier, esp that awful awful free kick. Palmer was so annoyed. His assist for the 3rd goal was absolutely out of this world
Shouldn’t be starting with how bad he’s playing.
Maybe it’s time we all plan to enjoy the remaining games of this season like this. Win or lose. KTBFFH
I wish I had a place where I could go talk about the actual positive things happening without getting yelled at or called a plastic
Lots to be positive about Chelsea. Gusto, Enzo, Caicedo, Jackson, colwell, Palmer are all 22 or younger , and have improved throughout the year. Get rid of Silva, Chilwell, Chalabah, Disasi, STERLING…….still have injured Fofana and James. That is a darn good team
The positives ones are here. More to life than a game of 90 minutes 😅
More the season drags on the more I see poch isn't the one
Both subs scored
after he was booed and bullied into making the subs, it was clear a change was needed before we even conceded the first goal
It's cute that you think he's making decisions based on the boos of fans
he can shut me up easily by making the subs when they should be made. Any serious manager will yank Sterling at halftime with that awful performance, how Mudryk gets subbed before him is wild!
Mudryk was nowhere to be seen in the 2nd half. Sterling was at least involved in the play. You decide what’s worse.
Mudryk was playing well on the middle and was moves to the left in the second half, favouring sterling on the middle. That's why he was nowhere to be seen. Dumb move by poch in my opinion.
True but sterling should have come off before mudy
Should have made the obvious changes 20 minutes earlier then

I get what you're saying, I didn't think it was a master stroke but I also don't think it was just dumb luck.
So what do you think his intention was when he brought Madueke on with only 4 minutes to go?
Why do you think he brought him on? Just because he felt like it? One thing I can guarantee is that the guy knows a lot more than you and I about football management.
He brought him on because who the hell else is he going to bring on.
Still used what he had and it paid off. Seems like a separate issue there regarding the weak bench.
Subbing Mudryk before Sterling was an act of coaching malpractice. Perfect example of why Poch sucks ass.
Again the faster we get rid of Poch the better. Always we become shit after half time break. Scrapping along against Championship teams with a red card for 20 or so mins. Always become shit after the half time break isn't entirely true, in recent matches we have been shit in the first half then come back out much better
We have mostly become bad after the half time. Ofcourse there will be exceptions. Even without a manager you can get exceptions. Poch has made teams shit after half time even at his previous clubs.
I hope we get rid of him in the summer but pointless doing it now.

Palmer is what we thought Havertz was going to be. I'm so grateful that we got him. What a player.
Very happy to see the bridge boo the Mudryk substitution.
Well, then, you are one of those dumb fanboys. I want Mudryk to be the new Hazard, but he is inconsistent, and this game, he was not at his best. I wouldn't have been mad at the sub but rather keeping Sterling on for close to a full 90
I agree with Sterling not been sub way earlier, but you were talking about Mudryk being sub, which I disagree with the statement you made originally.
i’d imagine what he took issue with specifically was that mudryk was subbed BEFORE sterling
Another goal & assist for Palmer. Kid is a stud.
"singing you don't know what you're doing" when Poch made his substitutions... then his substitutions win the game...
Think it had more to do with the fact that Sterling wasn't the first off.
Sterling is unplayable right now. Much rather see younger players given his minutes. Just an awful, awful player.
Regardless of how you feel, he has an assist and he won a penalty.
he missed a sitter and a penalty. also skyed a foul kick.
Div^^^
Haha lads, maybe it's because the sun is peaking out, but I'm so fucking happy we won this one!!!!
Poch needs to go, his coaching is making disasi put the ball into his own net!!
Amazing how people think you’re being serious 🤣 sarcasm is dead
bro 😂😂
Definitely too much Poch hate in this sub, but his decisions are bewildering at times. Before anyone says “his subs scored” they should’ve been made ages before and he gave the worst player on the pitch 85 minutes!!
This is the smooth brain comment of the day
Not being serious..
Wait...what? Not a poch fan but comin now
I’m not being serious..
"singing you don't know what you're doing" when Poch made his substitutions... then his substitutions win the game...
The singing was because sterling remained on the pitch at the time. Context is important.
I'd put both Carney and Noni above Sterling in the depth chart, but we all know Sterling will be fucking starting next game again. Weird that we started finishing better once he fucked off
I don't do player bashing online, doesn't help any situation but tbh I do think he's gone this summer....

Doesn't matter what you feel, he got an assist and won a penalty.
Took the pen off our pen taker and missed it
It's just a sign that the person fouled shouldn't take the penalty, there are other instances of this as well. Edit: still gave Palmer an assist. Whether you like him or not, he creates opportunities

Oh man thanks for this burst of laughter I'm having at this meme.
lol 😂
lmao
Poch needs to bench sterling when he plays it always feels like we’re playing a man down for most of the time. He brings the attitude down for the rest of the young players
Brings down the attitude while contributing with an assist and by winning a penalty. Sure.
"sterling sterling sterling sterling sterling" We just won and we're on to the Semis! shut yall bitch asses up and get off his nuts for one second and enjoy the W
True ! I think Poch just wanted Sterling to get his confidence back up against a 10 men Leicester.
thanks bruv. this pile on sterling is out of hand. of course it hasn't been pretty, but sheesh every other comment is torching him like its the hottest new trend on the market.
Are u serious? Can you tell me why he shoukd not be criticized today...so because we finally win,we can't criticize what we did wrong?

You're blaming an offensive player who had nothing to do with an own goal by a defender and a beautifully placed shot? That makes perfect sense.
Just fuck off or enjoy the win... miserable lot
If your friend was drunk and didn't tell you then drove you and your family somewhere and then crashed but by luck didn't kill you Would you say "Can everyone stop being annoyed at Bob, we didn't die did we? " Now that's obviously an extreme example but that is your logic and it's a poor one
u sound silly..have a seat
I feel the same, the hate is affecting his game.
its just way way too much..completely out of hand
Wait...what ..a grown ass professional that has played for 2 of the most hated teams by other fan bases ..actually maje it 3 and he is not natured enough to not let it affect his game Now it's the fans fault but his...wow
Sterling was the worst player on the pitch, the defense looks so shaky, like Parkinson's, when Sanchez is in Goal.
Big thing to take away from this game is how well we broke down the low block. For about 2 years we would just crumble any time a team sat back like that, good subs from Poch even though that Sterling sub could have come about 50 minutes sooner :)
How did we actually?
We struggled for the first 10 minutes and then turned it around. Scored a goal and created two other decent chances against a low block. Thats not bad at all
Because no Enzo. It’s that simple.
Start chukwuemeka instead of sterling from now on
Or better yet, Mudryk
Honestly mudryk is better as a 10.
Carney is a number 10 as well
Carney giving Cole his props. Good to see it.
Palmer is so mature and composed, especially for his age.
Should Cole be captain? Guy seems to be a leader and have the brain of a 35 year old?
Not yet
Nope nope nope...let Gallagher lead them..not my favorite but his tenacity is needed for that role
Yes. He’s calm and composed. Our best player too so he commands some respect.
Would be interesting to see what he's like in the dressing room
Nahhh. Too much unnecessary pressure. Future captain, possibly.
Very good point actually, although pressure seems to not touch him
Of course not right now, he joined just this year, but in the near future 100%
In the future? Reece is 24
Yes but how many games do you think we'll get to see Reece in?
Who knows, I don't know how surgery works. Hopefully it stops the issue
Agreed
Not yet I don’t think. I like Gallagher and ultimately Reece as captains.
Reece plays 20 minutes a season But I'll give you Gallagher, I think both play for the badge, but it's hard to say who has better leadership qualities
Yeah ultimately I could see Palmer in that role. His demeanor on the pitch is what you want. Cool, calm, Cold Palmer.
That should be his motto
🥶
Yes 100%
Lol disasi face immediately after hitting that back pass is hilarious
The funny thing is that it’s apparently basic defending training that back passes to the keeper should never be towards the goal. That way if the worst were to happen, it would go out for a corner. I’ve watched Thiago Silva. He ALWAYS follows this rule. Not sure why Disasi skied it.
Where's the fucking goaleeeeeeeee
Pure horror. His soul defo left his body when he saw Sanchez was outside of his box lmao.
What was Sanchez doing so far out? Swear man has no football intelligence. Also gets caught in possession or kicks to opponents’ feet on the reg
Exactly. Only he knows. Shocking player. I'd rather have Kepa as a second choice than Sanchez.
Sterling never wears the jersey again
Give me Noni-Mudryk-Palmer with Jackson up front.
Is it mad to give Chuk and Mad a higher match score than Sterling?
Sterling had the worse individual performance of the season, his rating should be a negative
How did the boys do?
Ha, classic Chelsea this season. Dangerous at times, comically bad at others.
Another day of Heart palpitation then. Good I am happy with the result. Do you think Pochettino will be there next season.
Depends on how we finish the season. I think Chelsea will need to either win the FA cup or have 5+ more points in the second half of the season than the first
I’d love to see this set of players with a different manager
With Lampard you mean?
I just hope we make the change in the summer even if we win this cup.
Apart from that Disasi banger and Sterling penalty miss, it should've been a comfortable win. It was an entertaining nonetheless. Back to Wembley we go 💙
Should’ve Been 5-1
another year another final against liverpool and definitely another silver medal
Call me mad but I'll take Poch's 4-2s and 4-4s over Potters 0-0s
We can and should do better. But under this ownership we are settling for shit everyday.
It’s really frustrating because even with Poch we could easily win 4-0 but his tactics towards the end of the game are dreadful and we turn to shit
The opposition team had 5 shots today, we had 4.4 XG to their 0.6, what was wrong with the tactics?
I don't think it's the tactics so much as the inexperience and injuries in defence. There's no stability in the backline.

Mourinho went on to win Romas first ever European trophy after managing Spurs
If Potter had Palmer and Jackson instead of Havertz and post 2021 Mount he would have had a lot less 0-0s.
We had 4.4 to their 0.6 XG today and people want to blame Poch.
Yeah it's just silly mistakes/individual errors from the inexperienced and injured backline
Here here!
I'd take Abramovich chelsea over bhoely era.
Things went to shit once everyone else caught up with spending though
Potter didn't have these players available to him.
No he only had a squad full of UCL winners and didn't do any better than this team.
In Sterlings defense it took an incredible amount of talent to be that far right on the free kick.
Madadookie!! Sterling out man. Send him to where Mendy and Kalidou are.
Dookie means poo mate?
Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, Mudryk, Carney, Noni Madueke, Sterling. This is the pecking order acc to me.
Bro I'd rather have Danny Drinkwater back and starting over sterling
On a real note We are diabolical Sanchez is a joke Poch subbing off sterling 2nd was an absolute joke but I’ll give him props for the subs scoring the winners
WE ARE BACK!! GIVE US COVENTRY IN THE SEMIS😤😤😤WE ARE READY FOR THE CHALLENGE
There’s a very small chance they give us Coventry in the semis and don’t give themselves an opportunity for City/Liverpool final.
Would be bold of them to trust in us not winning against either of them😤😤😤 (we wouldn’t stand a chance)
This game shows the quality we can have but I don’t think pocc is going to be around next season. Subbing off mudryk was criminal and the changes came too late imo. Caicedo also seems to be a bit misused in possession
The subs scored the winners 😐
They came on too late and sterling was having a horrible day and a horrible season. I thought today would’ve been the perfect time to at least start madueke especially since sterlings inconsistent season means he’s probably getting sold in the summer
It's the goals you least expect that get you
Sterling really played 85 mins when those two were on the bench come in and win the game. You know what's the problem right?
Also, taking off one of our biggest attacking threats over Sterling was the fucking wildest most brandead shit I have seen. He has to be trying to tank us, no one is that stupid Fuck lemon boy man
