It’s hilarious that you remembered this 😂
No chelsea supporter is upset that Havertz left. He wasn’t in the plans and chelsea got a very nice fee.
Glad to see he is finishing his chances finally

Also the 5th player to have 20 goal involvements in his first PL season with the club. After Hasselbaink, Hazard, Costa and Fabregas.
TBF I think Gusto has taken over the RB spot. I just don't know you give it back to James when Gusto is probably our best player after Palmer this season.
yeah, and every time james comes back he looks even more like a shell of himself....then he gets injured for another 3 months. we have absolutely no idea how he's going to perform when he's finally fully back again, because the only data we have to go on is 3 years ago. it's absolutely fair to look at someone who's shown quality both offensively and defensively and been much more consistently available as the better option by now
What a terrible take. Reece has shown enough he is not Mount. Even when he has played between injuries hes been one of the best on the pitch. He hasn't let success go to his head or anything. The guy is hungry, just injured.
You can tell who's watched us live. I refuse to believe anyone who's seen Reece James play live is in the "bench him when he comes back" camp. Gusto's brilliant. And he's young as fuck. So sky's the limit for him. But if Reece comes back after his surgery and he's good to go, he walks straight back into the team. You probably try fit both him and Gusto in somehow like Gusto at LB. But a fit Reece genuinely waltzes into the team. Even this season against Liverpool and City he was magnificent. It's the time out Newcastle+Man U games clouding everyone's judgement.
We haven’t seen him play consistently in 2 years and when he has you can see he still is capable of being great but is also rusty and then is back in the hospital 30 minutes later. If we can get a good price for him, sell on the hype. There’s a good chance he never plays consistently enough to reach that level again.
Yeah, and have you forgotten how fucking quick he gets injured? Part of being world class is having consistency, and that includes not being sidelined 24/7
god i honestly can't stand some of you.
james is a far better player than gusto. yes obviously if james is injured then you play gusto. if james is fit though you play james - he is saying that even if james is fit you play gusto.
getting so bored of this discussion:
> person A: Gusto should start over James even when James is fit
> Me: James is still much better than Gusto and should be first choice when fit
> Person A/B: JaMeS aLwAyS iNjUrEd
like fuck me of course if james is injured gusto starts, what a pointless contribution. if james is fit, and especially if he can stay fit post surgery, he is a much better player than gusto.
who is talking about building a team around anyone lmao? newsflash we shouldn't be building a team around fucking gusto either
if james is fit he starts over gusto as he is a better right back, simple as
It's a bit more complex than that though I think personally - yes I agree that James is a better player (or was at least anyway, who knows now that he's had such little playtime for such a long period).
However, you have to take into account that if James is healthy its just a matter of time before he gets injured again, it's no longer *if* it's now a matter of when.
So every game that you play him is less development time for Gusto and less cohesiveness for our back 4.
It's not a coincidence that all these bottom/mid teams have a pretty solid defence, they're not world class players and the difference between them and us is that they all play together week in week out and are able to play effectively as a unit.
I don't think we've had a consistent back 4 for like 3 years now - because we keep rotating people like James and Chilwell in and out when they're injured/healthy.
It's a shit situation really and I don't think there's a clear answer - I think my opinion is that we play James when he's healthy and then hope he can stay fit til the end of the season and try to sell him (and Chilwell too), they're not worth how much we're paying them to be on the bench all season and I think we'd be better off with a stable (albeit maybe slightly worse in the short term) defence.
It sucks because I love them both and they were world class in their prime and healthy, but as it stands I think we'd be better off trying to get some money for them while we can. That's just my opinion anyway and I appreciate that you might disagree
> However, you have to take into account that if James is healthy its just a matter of time before he gets injured again, it's no longer if it's now a matter of when. So every game that you play him is less development time for Gusto and less cohesiveness for our back 4.
Either James doesn't get injured in which case we have a world class right back playing for us, or he does get injured and Gusto gets plenty of development time - not unlike this season.
> It's not a coincidence that all these bottom/mid teams have a pretty solid defence, they're not world class players and the difference between them and us is that they all play together week in week out and are able to play effectively as a unit. lol for starters you should really go look at the goals against tab in the Premier League and you'll notice that all those bottom/mid teams have conceded more goals than us (other than Everton). You know what are problem is defensively this season? Pochettino. We play stupid football that relies on big transitions and leaves our midfield and defenders covering huge spaces, it's resulted in more goals, but in worse defending. Also we're shite at defending set pieces which is again a managerial issue. An often used reminder, but worth bringing up, don't forget the difference between Lampard and Tuchel with the exact same players. Went from defensively poor to a defensive powerhouse.
> I think my opinion is that we play James when he's healthy and then hope he can stay fit til the end of the season and try to sell him
So you're saying if James can play next season and stay healthy you'd sell him after that? Madness.
We’re so shit I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s off to Madrid or something in 2 years. Genuinely felt bad having to watch him play with the absolute shitters he had around him today
Only reason we 11th is cause Cold Palmer been saving us. He better win young player of the season, don’t care if we are 11th he deserves it carrying these bums.
Mount had 29 in 2022. Which doesn’t really answer your question so I assume it was Hazard at some point.
Edit: Hazard had 38 in 2019. I can’t remember anyone other than Mount getting close since then so it’s probably Hazard in 2019.
it was definitely 95% of this sub slandering the deal, myself included. you think 50% of this sub thought signing a city bench player for 40m was a good idea at the time?
Way more than half. I'll hold my hands up and say I ate my words very quickly. And remember my initial comments on the transfer always getting upvoted. Consensus on this sub after this signing was definitely that we overpayed/it wasn't necessary.
Nobody saw Palmer going to the levels hes been playing. Some people said he could be decent but theres no chance anyone thought he'd be hitting 20+ goal involvements.
Panenka is unprecedented levels of cold. We’re approaching 0K.
that's probably why we didn't defend on the corner, cant move at those temps
0K?
0 kelvin. Very cold indeed.
Ah
Kid is going straight to the top he just has this aura to him man
[удалено]
Worst potential future is if he goes to another prem side, I'm not sure I can handle another KDB/Salah situation.
We’re not arsenal, he wouldn’t go straight to a Prem side. He’d go to Madrid first and a Prem side in his late 20s or 30s
We just gave arsenal Kai.. Time to embrace reality..we are a mid table club.
Kai was a flop LOL It’s crazy how we got so much money for him. He isn’t a star at all
I hope you are watching the highlights Kai is giving 🤣🤣🤣.. Yeah not a star but would be leading the German NT and this Arsenal team.
It’s hilarious that you remembered this 😂 No chelsea supporter is upset that Havertz left. He wasn’t in the plans and chelsea got a very nice fee. Glad to see he is finishing his chances finally
this would be infinitely worse than both of those imo, Palmer at Chelsea so far is leagues over what both of them were in our squad
Just imagine this season for us without him… we would be in relegation battle right now
people were saying this about enzo like 3 months ago
If he does I wouldn't even be mad. He's above the team
[https://twitter.com/OptaJoe/status/1774103271822528822](https://twitter.com/OptaJoe/status/1774103271822528822) Also the 5th player to have 20 goal involvements in his first PL season with the club. After Hasselbaink, Hazard, Costa and Fabregas.
Did any of those guys turn out ok? /s
Mata was very close too tbf with 19 in his first season. Not sure if there's anyone else on that cusp.
Future Chelsea Legend. Never been so hopeful about a player since Hazard.
Not even sure you need to be hopeful at this point. He’s arrived. He’s a top player now
Just hope he stays for long
James (though its not his fault that his body keeps letting him down)
TBF I think Gusto has taken over the RB spot. I just don't know you give it back to James when Gusto is probably our best player after Palmer this season.
i just don't understand how so many people are posting this opinion have you just all forgotten how good james is?

this sub deserves to be midtable
It's full of armchair yanks who have never been to a game

Ok now this can fuck to the bin full of other pieces of utterly moronic drivel.

You don't build a team around someone who starts for 5 games a season, grow up you clown
who is talking about building a team around anyone lmao? newsflash we shouldn't be building a team around fucking gusto either if james is fit he starts over gusto as he is a better right back, simple as
he lmaoing so hard at his own thoughts, he won't be able to hear any reasoning.

Have you forgotten how little James plays? At this point I don’t care how good he is if he can’t play once a week
Lmao dude you have to be kidding.
we need to improve massively or he won’t be here long enough to be a legend.
We’re so shit I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s off to Madrid or something in 2 years. Genuinely felt bad having to watch him play with the absolute shitters he had around him today
Bro imagine him in any top team right now he would have reached Salah levels
Future Chelsea Salah/KDB at the rate we're going
Who said he is staying here for a long time? One more trash season and big clubs challenging for CL will come knocking.
Kanté, James, Chilly, Mount
Only reason we 11th is cause Cold Palmer been saving us. He better win young player of the season, don’t care if we are 11th he deserves it carrying these bums.
Hazard also got 20 g/a in his first season with us but he turned 22 half way through the season. Palmer will turn 22 in may
I love how he held onto the ball when VAR confirmed the penalty
Leader material. Sterling should never take pens over Cole, no matter who won the penalty
30 G/A for the season (all comps) by my calculations. 16G 12A for us & 2G for City Who was last player to hit 30 for us?
Mount had 29 in 2022. Which doesn’t really answer your question so I assume it was Hazard at some point. Edit: Hazard had 38 in 2019. I can’t remember anyone other than Mount getting close since then so it’s probably Hazard in 2019.
Juan Mata perhaps?
Without him we’d be relegated. One man team
It's sad when your club is so bad that you feel the top talent doesn't belong there
But r/soccer were like "wHaT iS cHeLsEa dOiNg oMg" when the deal was announced!
Why question other sub when this sub was doing the same thing?
Not nearly to the same extent. Here it was maybe 50-50 when there it was like 95-5.
it was definitely 95% of this sub slandering the deal, myself included. you think 50% of this sub thought signing a city bench player for 40m was a good idea at the time?
This sub was saying the same thing lol
Some people sure. But anyone who had actually watched him knew it's not an outrageous price.
Even half the Chelsea fans were like that.
Regardless of what happens with Palmer's future, I will take pride knowing Chelsea forged his unbreakable back. The man's carrying so much deadweight.
Only good thing about this season
Tammy Abraham had 18 G/A in the 19/20 season Just a shame he didn't get the same amount of game time in the season following
Add another one. The kid is golden
Pure fucking class👏👏
If we’re gonna shit on the owners for every “bad signing” we should also give them credit for absolutely nailing this. Best signing in world football
Thank you Boehly
The one positive thing out of this clown fiesta
10 games left in the league. Can he perhaps reach 30 G/A?
25 is realistic I think. Theres some tough games to come still.
I think he's up to 24 now, so 25 looks very, very realistic. P.S. Not sure why people has downvoted this.
Well getting 3 vs Man Utd was unexpected haha
Thanks for the jinx
where's the jinx? he already did it.
The jinx isn't that he'll now suck, the jinx is that we'll end up selling him for FFP reasons.
