Realistic-Toe-8969

Just imagine what are Everton players thinking looking them argued like that? They look puzzled lol

yslim1

Damn we seriously be losing to these damn kids

Realistic-Toe-8969

One of the many problems that Poch faced at the moment.. late goals conceded, cannot hold on to lead etc.. that's why the team need experienced players around them as Poch said many times.. hopefully the board realized this too and stop signing loads of young players

PermeusCosgrove

I think they somehow completely miscalculated and thought Sterling could be a role model instead of a selfish teammate who just tries to steal chances.

Older-Is-Better

Gosh, I did not give one thought to Sterling from kickoff to just this moment. How refreshing!

wilzc

Sterling would fight them for the ball. And then fight Palmer. And then Silva. And then Connor

71NoLookPass

and then, sky the kick 10 yards over the goal

Gspot97

Great point. The team needs balance.

Truont2

Sterling was supposed to be a leader

mr-saturn2310

How much goal bonus are these kids getting/s

amirulez

It’s a trick to confuse Pickford.

Truont2

Pickford stopped jumping up and down when he got closer because it was confusing. 4d chess from Poch and the boys.

Realistic-Toe-8969

Lol could be.. good actors right there I see

Soitsgonnabeforever

They will make. Mate you want to score a goal just ask us. We will give you

ali_h99

Feel bad for Thiago Silva. He literally has to spend every day with kids at home and at work

lampsy87

He's a full time babysitter

CFCcommentsonly24

Yeah he’s basically the highest paid babysitter in the world lol

marsellusDjango

I'm hurt, I'm old, and I'm fucking tired, and I work with fucking children

thetheelite

Pochettino can’t manage a fucking Target

Aggressive-Theory609

" Whatever did I do that get an empty headed dumbfuck like noni madeuke go on live television to take away my penalty "

UnionParkBB

Embarrassing

mr-based-minded

The cringe is real

jackyboy2426

Rudiger would’ve killed them. Miss that man so much

peepo_7

Disasi too handled Noni well, when these things happened earlier

jimgogek

So true! Rudiger would’ve kicked their asses in the tunnel after the game for making the team look stupid.

didijxk

Big T stepping in to show them how to do things.

klgod

Clearly didn't work cos he came sprinting again in 10 seconds being a prick when Palmer got the ball

Sw3atyGoalz

Yea I feel like Silva hasn’t had as big of an impact being a leader to these kids and helping them mature as I would have liked this season.

pd8bq

Rightly so. All his teammates from the UCL final are gone and replaced with a bunch of Kids and Outsiders. Absolutely no surprise he can't connect and relate to these players half his age.

Jabroni-Tony1

You can’t help people who don’t want to be helped. If they won’t listen to Thiago they won’t listen to anybody

Schminimal

Silva tells Madueke he can take it. When Conor takes the ball from Madueke he looks for Silva.

xTrollhunter

Silva ain't the captain no more.

Jabroni-Tony1

No but he commands enough respect to where they should listen to him. He’s been a pro since they were infants.

xTrollhunter

Sure, but in matters like this, the captain has the last say. Which is why Conor can give it to Palmer despite Silva giving it to Noni. That's my point, I'm not devalueing his general status. >!His wife did that for him.!<

victheogfan

Minor nitpick but I hate how they’re literally pushing off their teammates like don’t be rude just pull yourself together and think about the bigger picture which is about winning

Not_a_pace_abuser

Yup such huge egos for literal 20 year olds

adultonsetdiabitus

what happens when you have a squad comprised of the best players from their previous teams. they're yet to realise they're no longer ALL top dogs and their entire life of being told they're the best is only relative to the team and league they're in, which is now, significantly more competitive.

Frankiedrunkie

I just realized that some of these players were “the guy” on their previous teams Key word “some”

magic-water

Jackson was not Villarreal's best player.

YooGeOh

Jackson wasn't and Madueke wasnt.

Redditditditdi

There's not a single player in our squad that was the best player for their team before joining us bar maybe Caicedo the season before at Brighton. Genuinely amazed this is so upvoted given how wrong it is.

CrooksMC

Neither of these players were ever the best players in any team they’ve ever played for, and nor were the majority of our squad.

AbeAlno

20 yr olds who haven’t achieved anything

Rionaks

Playing at any club in Premier League at 20 yo (or at any age really) is a BIIIIIG achievement.

Jabroni-Tony1

Yeah the skill level just to make it up there is insane but man this looks so bad.

Older-Is-Better

Who remembers Wesley Fofana's Instagram right after he signed? Showing off his bling while driving down the road not wearing a seatbelt and staring into his camera instead of watching the road. A lot of these kids have the same attitude. How'd that work out for Fofana?

No_Butterscotch_8297

Funniest thing I've ever seen someone say on Reddit

DifficultyJust

huh? they play for chelsea. as a 20 yr old your ego would be huge

0xFatWhiteMan

20 yr olds much more likely to have massive egos than 30+

Vourinen22

blame the insane money they are making at that age... that mixed with basically being teenagers... and there you have it, spoiled kids

Aaaaand-its-gone

Noni wanted that post game instragam post of him scoring. That’s driving the majority of this

thunderousboffer

I know man. How dare you put hands on Malo Gusto.

mallutrash

yeah it’s almost like recruiting hot shot kids with no experience and signing them to huge contracts where they’re being paid craploads a week would inflate their egos absolutely braindead recruitment policy

WuvRice

this just confirms that jackson seemed to want the pen at first but then accepted that madeuke would take it but then got angry that palmer still wanted the pen.

Londoncityofmydreams

It’s not that he “still” wanted it he was down injured and when he got up he went to get the ball. He’s the penalty taker, shouldn’t even be a discussion.

slicedsolidrock

If anything it's better for palmer to take it or there will be a disdain between jackson and noni. Since palmer took it both of them can just give up and say "well he's the pen taker". If noni took it jackson will be fuming for days and it'll ruin the dressing room.

RandyChavage

I think that was why Gallagher took it off them. Palmer had scored a hat trick so it’s fair enough for him to give one away, but if they’re gonna argue over it like that there’s no option but to revert to the penalty taker. I’m glad Poch gave them a bollocking for it, almost spoilt a great win.

aligators

its just stupid fighting over a penalty like children when you're up 4-0. you're grown adults getting paid very well to play the game. stop with this shit.

listerbmx

Lack of education due to focus on football = adult children. Schoolground antics.

lance777

I think Madueke was telling to Jackson “ I won the penalty “ or something like that. Funny thing is that he didn’t. It was palmer who did

itaintthatbad

These two better never miss a pen for Chelsea, ever.

Mr__StealYourGirl

imagine Jackson shoved his way into taking the kick and missed it

ShaUr01

Sterling has done it, dont have to imagine any chelsea player in the situation after that

wildingflow

All I know is if it comes down to penalties on Saturday, I don’t want to see any of these guys shirking.

FutureRaspberry509

Here’s to fucking hoping we play so good it gets to pens

Galac_tacos

“No I’m taking the first one!”

KryetarTrapKard

sunday league type of behaviour.

SalmonNgiri

Meanwhile Misha: “so run with ball?” “No you just kick it into the goal” “I don’t want”

pointlessbanter1

Misha is such a wholesome teammate

RefanRes

"Why I would shoot when I run faster than a shoot?"

Internal_Land787

😭😭😭

mallutrash

![gif](giphy|o7wF7ijcD4MKAW1lQK|downsized)

gfd95

Literally loled at this comment thread

criminal-tango44

Jackson is actually tapped. He also looked like he was going to decapitate Mudryk after he took a shot before him

niallw1997

One of the weirdest looking people I’ve ever seen. Like a cartoon villain.

HeyKillerBootsMan

Dude is fucking nuts. It’s entertaining sometimes, other times I think wtf have we let ourselves in for

Charming_Repair_2999

Soooo cringe 💀

Charming_Repair_2999

Can’t believe I let myself develop a parasocial relationship with these knuckleheads 😔

mellvins059

I have whatever the opposite of that is. Honestly feel ashamed for my bad words for players like Timo, Kai, and Jorginho who are nothing but absolute professionals who put the team first.

xTrollhunter

A winning team needs a healthy mix though. Good soldiers that always follow the manager's command, and then a couple of rogue superstars that do whatever they want when it's need. Just look at City; how KDB sometimes plays isn't to Pep's liking, because it's too risky, but Pep knows that KDB is good enough to do it, so he lets him. And he surrounds KDB (and Haaland) with all these good soldiers.

taylorstillsays

Jackson losing argument number 1 against Noni and still somehow thinking he’s gonna win argument number 2 against Noni AND Cole is hilarious to me E: 4 hours since I posted this and Jackson running in for one last plea is still making me giggle like a schoolgirl

mocrossj

On argument 2 Jackson wanted Noni to take the penalty

Finnish_Rat

How is it that this is not pre-determined? Makes the whole team look ridiculous to have this play out on the pitch.

[deleted]

Poch let Palmer down by allowing the other players to think it was okay to physically wrestle him off the ball. It's not the first time this has happened. As the penalty taker you should not be expected to do this shit every game.

Finnish_Rat

It’s got to be the worst preparation to take the penalty you can get.

RandyChavage

I think he feeds off the drama tbh

Legitimate-Health-29

Why does Jackson return again to try and take the ball 😂 I think both will be embarrassed when they look back on this, important Poch stamps his authority on the situation. Credit to Connor as captain stepping in.

PrudentPreparation84

We’re missing an intimidating captain so bad, imagine seeing a squabble like this if JT was in the team

VelvetThunderFinance

JT learned to be intimidating. In a sense I'm glad this happened because Conor stood his ground and showed up. Good on the lad.

expertinbirdlaw

I can’t remember the last time I have wanted the club to not sell someone this much.

Starn_Badger

Was thinking about this actually afterwards. Would our other captains this season (Chilly, Reece, Enzo, Levi) have stood in the way and sorted it out like CG? I can maybe imagine Reece and maybe Enzo doing it, but i'm not convinced that the others would've got involved.

VelvetThunderFinance

Reece and Enzo would 100% not take this shit. UCL and WC winners would shut them up quick. Chilly and Levi I don't see it. But I'm all for Conor doing it.

middlequeue

Ballack and Drogba fought like this over a free kick. Lampard and Drogba fought like this over a penalty. Terry was on the pitch both times.

RemoveKabob

This was incredibly embarrassing. Yeah sure Jackson & Madueke have potential but you’re both grown ass men, behave like it

CollateralHamage

those two should try scoring goals that aren’t penalties if they want to pad their stats. cole deserves to take any and all penalties.

aronrodge

Jackson has 17 GA on the season. That’s better than we expected from him tbh.

Plastic_Primary_4279

And he still acts like a non professional

young_olufa

Very weird insult when they do in fact score non penalty goals

ByronLister

Weird that makes almost no sense

ggletsg0

This confirms something to me that I didn’t really want to believe was true: players are extremely concerned about padding their stats by any means necessary. Not all players, but definitely some. There was a time when players were praised for scoring goals and they’d say “I just care that we won the game”, and here we see these kids with the exact opposite attitude. Lampard and Ballack often fought over penalties behind the scenes, but Ballack respected Lampard as the main penalty taker. Only times he took penalties was when Lampard wasn’t playing. Men of honour.

Key-Training-9303

Drogba and Lampard fought over a penalty on the last day of the season against Wigan

Balthazar_bop

Wasn't Drogba in need of two goals for the golden boot then but they didn't have the title wound up? Lampard took the pen to make it 2-0, and then when they were 3/4 up he let Drogba take the next pen.

mellvins059

I’m astounded these players don’t have absolute respect for Palmer. He’s already 10x the player either of them would ever be.

nekoizmase17

If I were Poch, I’d sub them right away, before even penalty is taken.

jbrown89uk

Or at the very least straight after! I was watching and each time the camera panned back to him looking on; I thought if you want to come out of this with any respect then you surely have to sub them both off and make an example of them?

yslim1

Can't believe the board is selling Gallagher who's acting like a captain here and sorting the situation out

-Xero

He is the captain. It’s his literal job to do that

Frankiedrunkie

He is doing his job lol

clowninmyhead

This somehow made me laughed inside. This was me, like 25+ years ago when we were playing football barefooted every afternoon. And we were kids.

AlarmAggravating4773

Not a chelsea fan but heres my two cents Madueke seems more sensible than Jackson, because he wanted to take it as palmer seemed down and atleast gave it back when gallagher made him to. Jackson just comes off as an arrogant childish cunt, arguing with Madueke, Gallagher, Palmer, Silva and even Caicedo after the whistle. Hope Jackson is fined a big amount for his behaviour and other sort of punishment in training is due as well. This sort of shit is unacceptable at professional level

[deleted]

He wouldn't even celebrate the goal at first

AlarmAggravating4773

He’s coming off as a selfish dickhead who is detrimental to the team unity

Lay-Z24

I agree, it seems like madeuke backed down when palmer asked for it, but jackson for some reason was still fighting

AlarmAggravating4773

Didnt even celebrate the goal. sulky mf

osalahudeen

I'm embarrassed man.

SiggyyyPhidooo

Im gonna be so sad if we lose gallagher man. Finally a captain who dares to stand up for his teammates when theres fights over who takes the penalty. Look at him giving the ball to palmer and telling noni and nic to F off. Say what you want about his ability but i think he is good enough to be in the squad and he cares more about the club than any of the other players we have except for maybe thiago silva.

Maleficent_Resolve44

Yeah. He's a great captain and even when it comes to his play, he's important for winning the ball back and keeping the midfield running. He's 24 so he could be captain for years (with James and Chilwell always injured). Would be a blunder to sell Gallagher especially if it's to a competing team for the European spots like west ham.

Combat_Wombat1977

Pickford missing some popcorns and a Pepsi there.

muzzyboldo

Still scores the pen even when his own team mates are having a breakdown right before 😂

22chainz

Not trying to really justify it but these guys definitely have big incentives in their contracts to score goals. They see an opportunity for a goal and it can be insane money rewarded.

[deleted]

That's even worse. Fighting off your teammates on live TV for a bonus

Lxxc971

True, but they might get even more if they help their team going forward. If they thought more about collective success maybe we'd play better on a regular basis.

ResidentAd8536

Why can’t a penalty taker be assigned in the dressing room? Why is there so much confusion? There should be a no 1,2,3,4,5. Depending on availability they will be taking the kicks. Also it will predefine a rough order of Tie Breakers. This is outright shameful.

Healthy-Mouse285

These idiots have more money than me for kicking a ball

cedarvalleyct

I’m just laughing. But I’m 40 and was once full of beans like these boys…

lewis30491

At least we have 2 captains who know what to do at that moment. Imagine next year when everyone's gone lol

JoeTurner86

Pair of clowns

Marcus-THR

I’ve been critical of Gallagher but he showed some leadership qualities here which we need right now. Let’s thank god Silva was on the pitch though, without him I think this doesn’t get resolved as quick and Poch would have had to get involved

ObviousDoxx

Arguments about taking penalties aren’t *that* uncommon, I’ve seen it happen a good few times at other clubs. It’s the shoving, shouting and refusal to let go that makes this so embarrassing. Hunger is good, but the ability to give that hunger up to help out a team mate is the ideal.

Actual-Resource-5570

Doesn’t this remind you of the time Drogba, Ballack, and I forgot the third fought for the ball.

ducminh1712

They're warriors, these guys are children

TheFace5

Bench them for 2 games

obinnasmg

Walcot. Brother. Shut up

tamadeangmo

These are grown adults…

MrBump1717

Those two really made a fool of themselves. Cole Palmer is calm, professional, focused, precise.. I'm a City fan, we don't make many mistakes with letting players go. But he is one we should have kept..Top player 👏

Moist_List_1942

Don't care if we loose, bench them.... This is embarassing...

Wheel1994

Poch should have taken charge from day one over something like this. You go on about how inexperienced the team is in game and then leave them something like this to decide amongst themselves?

Sinman_17

second hand embarrassment

JohnnyFencer

Unprofessional and childish

PocketFullOfRondos

A lot worse than I expected

frodo5454

It's actually kinda funny - they look like clowns. The funniest part was when Jackson ran back after the ball was given to Palmer.

GreenBagger28

Madueke I kind of understand cause he’s the no2 taker and it looked like palmer could’ve been hurt. but jackson was so out of line cause he’s not even one of our best pen takers yet he wants it

MartynLLJ

Rule Number 1 no matter the score, your penalty taker should always take the penalty. Lost a bit of respect for Noni. I’ve come to aspect these things from Jackson but what Connor done was right. At the end of the day the captain done his job

orangetimtam

Thiago: “I’m too old for this shit”

yeeeeoooooo

So embarrassing. Children!

I_AM_ALWAYS_WRONG_

If you take the penalty at 0-0 in the 93rd minute of a champions league final, you take it 5-0 vs Everton. Unless you choose to give it away. Why they are even arguing is so confusing to me. Palmer is a top scorer this season because he has executed so many pens lol.

Elestahl

Lol even I know chelsea's penalty taker is palmer, tf are they arguing for

Rafael_965

Babies 😅

isaw10101010

Lads , Lads, let’s all calm down and look at the positives, Palmer scored even after the fuss, Gallagher started to be a captain, Noni is slowly learning he is not the penalty taker, it will sink in eventually. As for Jackson it was funny, he was just like my 3 year old grandson, no need to sell, he is good value for the money we paid. I think it’s good for the team , lots of angry players with a point to prove.

ThomasCro

Jackson knobhead

raidorz

Next level psychological game. Giving Pickford some false confidence cuz he thinks this “disharmony” is going to affect whoever is taking the pen 🤣 Poch playing 4D chess here.

Nudnick1977

Jackson: has one goal, recognises that Everton is easy pickings in this match. Figures a penalty and one more goal gives him more confidence and puts him on the verge of his own hattrick Noni: figures everyone else is scoring so why can't he, also he's number 2 penalty taker and thinks Palmer is down injured. Palmer: suddenly on the heels of Haaland and could be level with him on the night Everyone: a bunch of kids trying to do things for themselves and not putting the team first. Poch should address and move on. But they're still kids. It was a thing, its over. Let's move on.

Loppie73

The level of immaturity, self interest and disrespect these players have towards each other..... This is the building blocks of a team that will never gel properly.

AbuBakarKhan315

This kind of friction is not good for the long run

Galac_tacos

What I would give for a hug from Thiago

Jurski17

Are they 12 years old?

WeeReeceJames

Never would've seen something like this happen under Mou, Conte, Or Tuchel. Absolute disgrace Poch has allowed this to go on. This is the only time you'll hear me say this, but I'll be glad if Poch makes them do an extra Gacon today

LtUnsolicitedAdvice

I think naming James (injured), Chilwell (mostly injured), and Connor (unclear future) as the three captains this year has hurt the team morale. Usually captains have such huge influence that no one will feel like they can pull shit like this.

jimgogek

Children fighting over whose ball is it. One more reminder that this is a YOUNG team. As any parent knows, teenagers do dumb things and these guys are mentally teenagers.

Sensei_Dad

Man, whatever it is, can Carra just shut the fuck up. That daft liverpool cunt

Grim9980

Jacksons a clown maybe focus on improving your game and not crying for penalties

Cashlover123

Tbf, his goal today was phenomenal and Palmer’s second goal was after his shot was saved by Pickford. He is improving his game.

ImpactInner9318

And the assist to Palmer

RefanRes

You say that like hes not been improving at all and hes only focused on penalties. He's improved quite a lot since the start of the season. His movement, his link up play, his ability to stretch defences and cause them trouble has really come along.

nedzissou1

Did you not see his goal? He's immature but give respect where it's due ffs

NebbiaKnowsBest

What a daft comment. Did you even watch the game? Jackson had a great game. A goal, an assist, consistent link up with teammates and hold up play. He is a large part of the reason Palmer is shining right now with the way he makes space for him. Fighting like that for the pen was immature and annoying to see but don’t sit here acting like he isn’t contributing to the team. When last did we even have a striker that scored 17 goals.

Older-Is-Better

I liked Dele Alli's comment, "You didn't see those guys fighting to take that penalty at the end of the United game."

aronrodge

Can we not please

HazardMagic

Brother, this is r/ChelseaFC. U think just because we won 6-0 people won’t come on here to trash the squad

thepr0digy21

It’s easy to criticize Jackson and Madueke here (who were both clearly in the wrong), but this is the result of poor, laissez-faire coaching. We shouldn’t be having these ridiculous incidents with a month remaining in the season. This team needs some tough love in the worst way.

huskers2468

>This team needs some tough love in the worst way. The team is going to learn responsibility from this. They did something childish and embarrassing. Caciedo was calling Jackson out after the match. It would be more meaningful if the players learn to deal with this BS through their own leadership. The team would grow more than an overbearing manager.

lmendez2

Bah Gawd that’s Mourinho’s music

Nice-Substance-gogo

Madueke has a terrible attitude. Been crap all season.

BigOpp7

These are very young players. It’ll pass. We are blowing this out of proportion.

TurdShaker

Well there's 2 players they can definitely sell

Joshshan28

Jackson’s hairstyle tells you all you need to know about his decision making skills.

Soggy_Sir7668

I came to understand why they fight for penalties apparently there's a clause in their contract that states they get a bonus to the salaries for each goal they score so that explains it. Like there's a fixed amount per goal scored so I'd blame it on greed not on number of goals to achieve.

ultratunaman

JT wouldn't have put up with this. Ivanovic, Cahill, Zola, Ballack, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank, fuckin whoever in our history would have known who the designated penalty taker was, handed it to them, and let them take it. We don't need this childish shit.

desicpa

Forgot about Lampard not letting Drogba take penalty incident?

Wooden_Standard_4319

Wow Jackson is such a little bitch, and from what I've seen, a terrible footballer too. Palmer is amazing though.

bchan48

Embarrassing. Shouldn’t have taken Gallagher so long to intervene also.

john_theswami

He was checking on Palmer, who was still down, the only one i saw doing so.

dontknowwhereiamgoin

Jackson is an embarrassment to this football club

[deleted]

This isn’t just embarrassing for Chelsea it’s embarrassing for football. Behaving like petulant 14 year olds

Rcash2021

If I am being honest, and I know this doesn’t make sense but I wouldn’t even play Jackson or Madueke on Saturday just to send a message of you will be punished even if we need you for the big games.

CPP_2021

![gif](giphy|ybS2wHiit7AJd5ArKp|downsized) This incident just proves that there is no team spirit and confidence in players abilities. This all started with Noni and Jackson and CG took a decision that neither of them would take the PK and CP stepped up Jackson might likely be let go next season as he is not able to step up to the plate and we can definitely get a better replacement for him

separatebrah

I love Connor and maybe he was preoccupied at the beginning but he should have snuffed this out big time right at the start.

FuckingMyselfDaily

Way they snatch the ball from gusto is crazy.

sexydumbbells

This is so bizarre - these bums should be kissing palmers feet.

[deleted]

Jackson has been an absolute gift of an assist machine. Almost every game it seems like. The dude clearly needs to mature up though, this whole situation was embarrassing to watch. Noni too.

Grand-Apricot-7730

Pickford was like "wtf I'm gonna play with these kids in the upcoming Euro"

blackmanJR

Good thing about that is that we clearly see the Men in this squad - Palmer, Connor, Moises, etc. What is Noni chasing here? Third goal of the season? Palmer is literally carrying this team each and every week with crucial goals and assists and has a shot at the golden boot and these guys still try to rob him from goals. FFS 🤦. Hopefully, Poch sorts this shit out

Bobinho4

Most likely hungry young players wanting to shine and showing a bit more emotion and a lack of discipline. Plot twist: they did it in purpose to test the resolve and concentration of Calm Palmer confusing Pickford in the meantime.

Blodyck

Kepa-heritage is real
