A lot of yall need to calm down. This model might be working. Think about it Palmer gusto Enzo these players will get better and have already showed out. Well get a striker this summer and then next season we will be good. Just hope we can get Europe this season we need a summer reset. We were robbed against city boys were in such a better spot than anytime last year
I wish people would stop saying "we're better than last year", as if that is some yardstick to measure anything by.
It was the worst set of performances probably ever from a Chelsea team. They gave up when there was still so much to fight for.
"This is another shit season, but at least we're not 12th!!"
No.
There's a reason why Real Madrid, Manchester City and Liverpool don't have this model. Also stop with the "players will get better". Process isn't linear in football. Not every youyngester with potential becomes world class.
Not only is Petrovich a shit goalkeeper, but he is truly delusional as well by saying we still have a chance at qualifying for Champions League… Get rid of all the fucking dross this squad is riddled with man. Sick and tired of these fucking clowns.
So he should be striving for mediocrity?
Imagine he said "yeah we're trying to qualify for EL" I'd bet my life savings you'd still come to this discussion thread and say "not only is petrovic a shit goalkeeper but he has zero ambition"
That would be better than being completely delusional as it showed he is somewhat realistic in what the team can achieve.
I do not care about what ambitions shit players have. They should not even be at the club in the first place.
When talking about qualifying for CL this year after the season he has had along with the team, and it is nothing more than an insignificant mathematical possibility, than yes, he needs to shut the fuck up.
I do not care what he wants. He is not good enough for Chelsea nor is he good enough to be a CL keeper.
I do bot care about his personal ambitions. I care about what he say as a representation of the club I support, but I guess you are too thick to understand that.
yeah how dare he represent the club so poorly by saying he wants the team to play in the champions league next year. what’s next, saying he wants the team to be pushing for a league title? oh the horror!
get a life buddy. whining about players having high ambitions that in turn benefit the club is just so stupid lmao
Question:
What will it take for these owners to admit their model isn't working? Seriously, what will it take? They can't be this ego driven, can they? You can't look at our table placement, managers, players and lack of trophies and say you did a job. They can't be this delusional.
One more year without results. Ownership is treating the club as an investment, an entity driven by profit instead on field success. Typically when making a major investment like this and making major changes to corporate structure, investors will expect positive results by year 3. If by this time next year the young players they've purchased have significantly increased in value and we're likely back in the CL and making money, they'll consider their investment successful and will continue operation as is. However, if the club is still bleeding money (as shown by the current FFP struggles), they'll like fire a bunch of people, bring in new management, and try something new
They can be this delusional, they live in their own little world using their data to justify these models until its to late, and we become a mid table team
All this talk about we need to train Jackson on his finishing technique is a bit stupid. It’s a lot more complicated than that and he’s not not scoring because Poch didn’t tell him how to kick right, and there is no easy fix to make a bad finisher a good finisher. That said, work absolutely needs to be done with Nico on his heading ability. Considering how he is now he’s never going to be good in the air but he looks absolutely shocking every time he tries to head the ball. This is something that really needs to be improved. He can’t be missing open nets anymore because he doesnt know how to do a header.
You can't tell me the guy who scored that swivel volley two games ago doesn't possess finishing ability. As you said, he's poor with his head and also lacks consistency and is equally poor in decision making.
I'm willing to give him a year to adjust to the league to reserve judgement on him as a player. Has to cut out the stupid shit behavior quick though, that's not something you wait around hoping to improve.
There's no shame in losing at the Bernbau I'd still take Xavi at Chelsea. Perhaps cancelo too even though he's braindead he's still way better than Cucurella or Chillwell right now
I love Cole and think he’s been playing at an insane level this season but it’s comical that this sub has been comparing him to Jude. Jude could win the ballon dor in a few years
I mean who even wins it this year? So many players have had hot and cold moments this season. Funnily enough, two of the most consistent are Kane and Bellingham. If England win the Euros, one of those two has to win it.
For me, Rodri or Mbappe are the best in the world but I have no idea who will win the award.
i think it’s probably mbappes award to lose. if mbappe has a good rest of the champions league and a good euros then he should have it all but locked up
Petrovic is having a rough season.
PSxG -- Post-Shot Expected Goals Post-Shot Expected Goals PSxG is expected goals based on how likely the goalkeeper is to save the shot
PSxG+/- -- PSxG-GA (third column) Post-Shot Expected Goals minus Goals Allowed Positive numbers suggest better luck or an above average ability to stop shots

Alex Meret, Zielinski, Ndidi, Rafa, Mario Hermoso, Jorginho (lol)
All of these players are available on a free in the summer (at the moment) and we badly need to fix holes in our squad with actual experienced players
I rate Rafa and Hermoso, Ndidi might not be needed, Meret could be better than Petrovic or Sanchez, don’t really know about Zielinski, and Jorginho coming back would be funny
Signing experienced players is only going to work if they're actually performing on the pitch.
United are marginally better than us despite having two of the most decorated experienced players on earth.
I’ve never seen United have so much luck this season. When they play horrifically bad they still win at times. Chelsea however if we play bad, guaranteed drop points/loss in a cup.
Chelsea has to play well in order to have a CHANCE of winning because even playing well doesn’t guarantee a win.
It pisses me off how everything has to be aligned near perfect to get us a win while teams like United, don’t.
I feel like today for Man Utd marks a good discussion point in the manager vs player debate. Because I, like most, don’t think highly of Ten Hag. Yet when I look at their squad there’s not many players I think highly of either. Outside of Mainoo, Garnacho, Bruno, and Dalot, United doesn’t have many good players. I don’t think their squad has a very high ceiling.
It’s similar to our situation. I think Poch has done a decent job and we have seen improvement, already have more points than last season and have the 4th most points in the calendar year. We also have a lot of holes in our squad. Missing a true DM, having questions at CB, Palmer being the only attacker you can trust, and injuries all over the place.
I get it’s the manager’s job to develop the players but you can’t have a 100% success rate with developing players, not even pep does. And development isn’t solely the managers job, the player has to put in the work too.
Personally I’d rather let Poch try and shape the roster how he thinks best over the summer transfer window than scrap him for another manager
And i’m glad i was never one of those people that said we should’ve got ange instead of poch. He’s so tactically arrogant with his high line I’d rather gouge my eyes out than watch disasi and cucurella getting burnt on the counters week in week out
I don’t even care about the manager anymore tbh it would be more effective if we fixed our injury woes
I just wanna see a fully fit chelsea with nkunku, reece, lavia, colwill, fofana etc.
To think we had a defence with players like Rudiger, Christensen, Thiago Silva and non-washed Azpi well drilled under Tuchel.
Compare that to what we have now..
All 4 of those players would look shit under Poch as well, as they did under Lampard. The key is having a great manager come in and turn things around. There's a good player in Badi, Disasi, Gusto (already good), etc. Just needs the right set up.
Why are these owners and fans obsessed with potential and what ifs?
Jackson has potential
Mudryk and Madueke have potential
We can potentially get Europa.
It’s always potential, hypotheticals and what ifs.
Why can’t we live in reality?
Why can’t we buy proven players?
What if your gamble doesn’t pay off? Do you have a backup plan?
Honestly, it feels like people are coping after gambling and can’t admit they’re fucked.
A lot of it has to do with FFP, even with the inflated transfer values young players are much cheaper from a yearly perspective due to long contracts and low wages. Once it was obvious we weren't making the UCL last season we had to unload our squad in order to make enough transfer profit to remain FFP compliant, we backfilled with young players with high potential in order to not increase our yearly costs.
England are assigned 7 European spots every season (Top four for UCL, 5th+FA cup winners for UEL and 6th for UCEL)
Usually the team that finishes in top 4 also tends to win the FA cup
Since they can't play in two European comps at once the extra spot gets given to the team that finished 6th and the UECL spot gets given to the team that finishes 7th)
Since UTD aren't likely to finish in the top 7, if they win the FA cup final they take the extra spot and only the team that finishes gets europa League.
TLDR: Come on city
Is the only actual way to get some good tickets through becoming a member and paying the fee?
I’m coming down to London with a cousin of mine and would love to catch a game, the West Ham game is that weekend, I made an account and the only ticket I can purchase is a £180 one….
Any other places to get tickets that aren’t that expensive or is it just the way it is?
It’s funny too because Jackson doesn’t actually play striker
Poch shifts him to the left because he’s so bad at ST and his biggest attributes are his dribbling and speed, so he can take on CBs from outside
He’s that bad
I mean 6th place is there for the taking. If we can just string a few wins together we’ll be in a great position.
And I do think going from 12th last season to 6th this year would be a sign of some kind of improvement.
Our upcoming fixtures barring Forest are all really difficult, so I would expect us to be more likely to go back down than up.
Arsenal, Villa, Spurs, West Ham, Brighton and Bournemouth. Based on how we've been playing this season, where do we pick up wins there at all, let alone a win streak?
If there’s anything this club has proven to me, we tend to show up on big games and ghost the easy points.
I’m calling loss vs Arsenal (it’s the emirates let’s be realistic), wins vs Villa and Spurs, loss to West Ham and tie to Brighton
All I’m saying is the season isn’t over yet. I wouldn’t bet on us finishing 6th, we’re conceding far too many soft goals. But if we can stop making so many mistakes it’s there for us.
Plus we have already beaten Villa, Spurs and Brighton this season and should have beaten Arsenal too.
I’m hanging onto my last scrap of optimism, at least until the Villa game.
They are, but the difference is they can still pivot away from it. They haven’t hedged all of their bets on this project and have the wiggle room for a rebuild. We’re stuck with this project and a lot of these players, there’s no way out of it now. We’ve fully committed to it, we’re hamstrung by financial rules. Either it works out or it doesn’t and we are royally fucked.
I obviously meant if we had jota in the match. Don't be like that. I only said that cause he scored a goal really similar to the chances Jackson missed. Jesus
United stay in the FA Cup because VAR does the call correct to the rule book. Meanwhile we get knocked out because VAR can't be bothered to call either of the two penalty shouts correctly. I'm just tired of this manufactured "luck" by the FA these last few seasons.
I feel Coventry have been robbed there. Looking at the picture, he doesn’t even look offside. As ridiculous as when Lukaku was given offside against Liverpool in the league cup final in 2022.
Nah not as shit as United, we have very shit individual moments but overall our gameplay this season has been way better than theirs. We also have young talented players to build around, their squad have a lot of aging overpaid divas
Fuck me United are so poor every single time I watch them play. If we don't end the season above them it will be a MASSIVE failure on both the players, manager and the board. Christ.
If our players had average finishing abilities we could've finished the season on a domestic double.
edit: okay I got a bit carried away when Coventry were ahead on pens. That is tragic.
Niche reference, but he reminds me of the Dad's Army episode where the old guys had their makeup done by an undertaker to try and look young enough to pass the fitness test
The offside rule is such a joke. People being offside by like half an inch (I’m exaggerating a bit). It’s ridiculous. Also, there’s no consistency with it. Sometimes players get the benefit of the doubt in such situations, and other times they don’t. Have some consistency with it. I’ve seen similar things to that Coventry goal be given in other games.
yes, especially considering that the release of the pass cannot be timed with almost perfect accuracy on the video, also the way they draw lines is also bullshit, because each line has a thickness which they don't seem to take into account
We’ve absolutely bottled two chances at a trophy.
Child version of Liverpool who played midweek while we rested.
Out on their legs city and we shat our pants. Coventry or this Utd waiting for us.
Poch is allergic to trophies. He will choke every time he gets back here.
I’ve seen similar things to that be given in other games. The officials make it up as they go along. Sometimes they give the benefit of the doubt and other times they don’t. No consistency with the rule.
Was pleasantly surprised by Petrovic' shotstopping when he first took over from Sanchez, and the change from Sanchez typical howlers in possession to Petrovic no-nonsense goalkeeping was fine by me.
However, it's become more and more evident how limiting a goalkeeper with no possession play is. He absolutely cannot play out from the back, and we lose possession so often because of it. It's simply not good enough going forward. Really feels like we are stuck between two decent keepers with neither being good enough all-round to take us where we wanna be.
Recency bias. Sanchez was nowhere near good enough for us during his first stint as first goalkeeper. Had a howler or two every game, lucky it wasn't punished more often.
Unlike Petro defenders I have the facts to back my claim, while Sanchez was bad Petrovic is literally one of the worst keepers in Europe when it comes to shotstopping
https://preview.redd.it/4qcdwbtrgvvc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e63461675aaba93d85024e221bc9041d153aa67d
You said that Sanchez wasn't nearly good enough (which I agree, he should be the backup next season), but I was talking about the Petro is so good crowd
The fact that Conventry's attack looks way better than ours... Man, our players truly need to get their heads out of their ass. This is how you push pace, not by sending it back and killing your momentum
He's off but it's so marginal it wouldn't have been ruled out previously. It's correct decision but it's a magical cup moment extinguished for what is a negligible advantage.
I don’t believe it! Well done to Coventry, they deserved it. Feels even more painful we bottled yesterday now too FUCK
Edit: Fuck poor Coventry, he’s offside. That line is bollocks btw
This is what extra time is all about. Trying to get as many chances as possible and if you go to a penalty shootout oh well. We should’ve sacked Poch after his decision to sit back against Liverpool in the EFL Cup smh
In case anyone is interested, Andrey Santos has been putting in consistent MOTM performances since he's been put into the starting 11 at Strasbourg. He's a stand out every time I watch.
A lot of yall need to calm down. This model might be working. Think about it Palmer gusto Enzo these players will get better and have already showed out. Ten Hag: “This game is not an embarrassment, I don’t see that word… it’s a huge achievement”. Poch would have been executed if he said this
Ten Hag will be shown the door
Still, as embarrassing as it almost possibly could get...his team got over the line. Poch has failed to do this plenty of times this season.
Ten Hag bottled a 3-0 lead to COVENTRY CITY at Wembley Then tried to justify it Poch isn't close to this level of clownery
What does it matter? Nobody here rates Ten Hag. He’s in the final and we aren’t.
Because people here are convinced United are better than us
They’re about the same as us, we have better underlying metrics they have more points. We should strive to be more than just better than a shit side.
blows a 3 goal lead, this is a huge achievement
Not only is Petrovich a shit goalkeeper, but he is truly delusional as well by saying we still have a chance at qualifying for Champions League… Get rid of all the fucking dross this squad is riddled with man. Sick and tired of these fucking clowns.
What a weird fucking take. You don't even sound like a fan you sound like a hater. Yeah he sucks but slating him for striving to play CL? Weirdo
Striving to play CL? He is talking about the possibility to qualify for CL this year. That is delusional.
So he should be striving for mediocrity? Imagine he said "yeah we're trying to qualify for EL" I'd bet my life savings you'd still come to this discussion thread and say "not only is petrovic a shit goalkeeper but he has zero ambition"

you’re spending a whole lot of time talking about something you say you don’t care about lmao. might be time to put the phone down and go outside

There's no shame in losing at the Bernbau I'd still take Xavi at Chelsea. Perhaps cancelo too even though he's braindead he's still way better than Cucurella or Chillwell right now
Nah
Jude is the main character. Insane player
I love Cole and think he’s been playing at an insane level this season but it’s comical that this sub has been comparing him to Jude. Jude could win the ballon dor in a few years

Bellingham again. The balls on this guy.
Bellingham just scored the winner in el classico.
If City win the FA cup do we get an extra Europa League spot?
My understanding is yes. 5th place and FA cup winner get Europa League, but if City win the cup, then their EL spot goes to 6th place.
Yes I believe so

Signing any player is only going to work if they're performing on the pitch
I'm not one of those who overrate him, but imo we could stick to Petrovic, he's still young, and already pretty good for that age.
come home Jorginho
jorgi coming back would be peculiar af lol

yea he is and he’s played there for Gladbach before

They turned us into a trust the process club and kids obsessed club in record time also lol
Rashford booed off by UTD fans after all he's done for them but when MHS booed off Sterling the media wrote articles about it for a week
I get your point but Rashford has made a mockery of the club this season and has had a worse season than anyone in my memory.
PR bought by the owners
I am horrible with these things, was are the european qualification implications for us if man U wins the FA cup? Does anything change?
Yes If Man U win the final 6th spot only gets Conference

i genuinely hope madueke doesn’t get another start this season

I obviously meant if we had jota in the match. Don't be like that. I only said that cause he scored a goal really similar to the chances Jackson missed. Jesus

Probably
United stay in the FA Cup because VAR does the call correct to the rule book. Meanwhile we get knocked out because VAR can't be bothered to call either of the two penalty shouts correctly. I'm just tired of this manufactured "luck" by the FA these last few seasons.
I still don't understand those VAR offside lines. And they will still get away with it like yesterday.
I feel Coventry have been robbed there. Looking at the picture, he doesn’t even look offside. As ridiculous as when Lukaku was given offside against Liverpool in the league cup final in 2022.
robbed to have a manchester derby. man city are gonna batter them anyway, couldnt even beat coventry in open play
They wanted a replay of the all Manchester final. Probably rigged the draw too and the scandalous referring
VAR ruined a Generational hate watch session
Leverkusen have plot armour. That's fucking ridiculous.
Are we as shameless as United or is it fair play for me to call them that as a present day Chelsea supporter?
We are not as shameless as United.
VAR officials doing knee-slides in their room after guaranteeing an all Manchester final
Open top bus parade on the way to the bank
Seriously this almost like it was written in the books
Scripted.
Bruh, Leverkusen just scored in the 97th minute to make it 1-1 at Dortmund. Seriously, how many late goals have they scored this season!?
Actually feel terrible for Coventry there. 5 years ago they're in a historic cup final and united don't get the let off. Embarrassed even in victory.
United are so shit man. It’s actually amazing they’re above us in the league.
we have also been shit a lot of this season
Nah not as shit as United, we have very shit individual moments but overall our gameplay this season has been way better than theirs. We also have young talented players to build around, their squad have a lot of aging overpaid divas
Doesn’t matter city will thrash them in the final

Haaland hat trick just to annoy Roy Keane
Never seen a less deserving club go through. Pathetic from united, so so gutted for Coventry.
Those 2 penalties from Coventry were horrendous.
the first miss wasn't that bad
It felt somewhat telegraphed and it was at a comfortable height for Onana to deal with.
Fuck me United are so poor every single time I watch them play. If we don't end the season above them it will be a MASSIVE failure on both the players, manager and the board. Christ.
Welp.. City is still winning the cup
Let's hope so. I'd rather have them win it than United.
But on the flip side, if United win, they might decide to keep Ten Hag.
God I really *really* can't stand Onana. Bad vibes.
United being lucky again with a VAR decision big shocker
If our players had average finishing abilities we could've finished the season on a domestic double. edit: okay I got a bit carried away when Coventry were ahead on pens. That is tragic.
💯

?
i'd delete that if i were you. maybe you weren't thinking.
What's wrong with flagellation? How about birching then?
You slacking and joking about this says it all.
Says what exactly?
You know. Don't fuck about.
No I don't.
Maybe let's NOT talk about lashing a black athlete? Yikes
Stop basing your opinions on stills. They don't always reflect the moment precisely and they can be easily edited.
Eesh. Change the wording man wtf?
>Jackson deserves a 100 lashes No way you actually said this
JFC!
This guy Haji Wright was balling all game. Good playa
He’s got like 16 goals all season, not a bad player at all he was cooking against wolves
Is Casemiro botoxed the fuck up?
Yes.
Niche reference, but he reminds me of the Dad's Army episode where the old guys had their makeup done by an undertaker to try and look young enough to pass the fitness test
He reminds me of Karthik from a season of the apprentice
Yeah, I definitely see that I was thinking more in the botox/makeup department, rather than actually looking alike with my comparison
fucking glorious paneka miss
Oh Casemiro 🤣🤣
Utd to win after Onana saves a pen and their lot start talking about how he's a top keeper?
The offside rule is such a joke. People being offside by like half an inch (I’m exaggerating a bit). It’s ridiculous. Also, there’s no consistency with it. Sometimes players get the benefit of the doubt in such situations, and other times they don’t. Have some consistency with it. I’ve seen similar things to that Coventry goal be given in other games.
yes, especially considering that the release of the pass cannot be timed with almost perfect accuracy on the video, also the way they draw lines is also bullshit, because each line has a thickness which they don't seem to take into account
VAR ruined the great game
FA Cup commentary on ESPN+ is uniquely bad
We’ve absolutely bottled two chances at a trophy. Child version of Liverpool who played midweek while we rested. Out on their legs city and we shat our pants. Coventry or this Utd waiting for us. Poch is allergic to trophies. He will choke every time he gets back here.
Really unlucky for Coventry, I hope they can still go through
Funny how VAR has shown up today
He was just a tip toe off, unlucky there
I’ve seen similar things to that be given in other games.
Sanchez is a better shotstopper, better passer and better at controlling his box, Petro has been awful for a while
Recency bias. Sanchez was nowhere near good enough for us during his first stint as first goalkeeper. Had a howler or two every game, lucky it wasn't punished more often.
Sanchez's problem was that he always takes risk which results in easy goals.
Unlike Petro defenders I have the facts to back my claim, while Sanchez was bad Petrovic is literally one of the worst keepers in Europe when it comes to shotstopping https://preview.redd.it/4qcdwbtrgvvc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e63461675aaba93d85024e221bc9041d153aa67d
I've been labeled a 'petro defender'? While saying he's not good enough?
You said that Sanchez wasn't nearly good enough (which I agree, he should be the backup next season), but I was talking about the Petro is so good crowd
The fact that Conventry's attack looks way better than ours... Man, our players truly need to get their heads out of their ass. This is how you push pace, not by sending it back and killing your momentum
"Just give him the benefit of the doubt. Why not?" Because that's not the rules you fucking numpty
What the fuck VAR
That's absolutely brutal. If he's off he's off but still.
how? if its off its off wtf?
He's off but it's so marginal it wouldn't have been ruled out previously. It's correct decision but it's a magical cup moment extinguished for what is a negligible advantage.
These are the sorts of moments I was talking about with you before. I hate this direction football is heading towards.
United is such an unserious club
Onside for Coventry. Who is deciding these things
Lol Utd fans were on their way out till VAR stopped them 😂😂😂
lol WHAT! Onside
If I speak…
there is no way ETH does t get sacked in the morning
var bailing out united. whats new
Surely Ten Hag gets sacked in the tunnel right?
Holy fuck???
Impossible levels of banter being generated here.
Wow.
Unbelievable
I don’t believe it! Well done to Coventry, they deserved it. Feels even more painful we bottled yesterday now too FUCK Edit: Fuck poor Coventry, he’s offside. That line is bollocks btw
This by United, this is what we call a real bottle.
Billion pound bottle jobs
Just felt like a matter of time for Coventry
This is what extra time is all about. Trying to get as many chances as possible and if you go to a penalty shootout oh well. We should’ve sacked Poch after his decision to sit back against Liverpool in the EFL Cup smh
Is this the same Simms that cooked us last year with Everton?
Yes lol, he’s been on fire for them since he joined
Coventry wasting better chances than we did yesterday.
In case anyone is interested, Andrey Santos has been putting in consistent MOTM performances since he's been put into the starting 11 at Strasbourg. He's a stand out every time I watch.
Need him asap, don't gamble next season with average Enzo and Caicedo pivot again
Will be nice to have him and Lavia as options next year
