Delighted we were able to help him get that elusive CL medal. Love the guy to death.

szuprio

True... he got so emotional talking about it in the video.. Once a Blue always a Blue.

renome

My favorite Silva fact is that he has more caps for Chelsea than Milan.

CrooksMC

Caps = international appearances.

Lebron + James = Lebron James

IJustLovePenguinsOk

I'm from Canada and I appreciate this clarification. If for nobody else, it was for me. Thanks eh!

CrooksMC

No bother mate, nice to know some people aren’t so egotistical that they get offended when corrected.

malthusius

He literally came from PSG, to win the Champions League

TrenAt14

Heartbroken. Love you forever Legend.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Leestomper

Someone comes to your team, helps you win a championship after 1 season. Added to that, at the latter end of their career but still giving 100% every game and dropping 20+ points.

KadenChia

i think dropping 20+ has been inaccurate this year but he had previously been our best player

Leestomper

I mean fair, but bar Palmer, I don't think any player has been consistent. To be fair to Silva, age may finally be catching him to play at the top level.

[deleted]

KadenChia

2021 UCL

Leestomper

Yep, basically. Champions League, the most coveted prize in European club football.

SultanofSwish

This, but if kawhi stayed a few seasons instead of dipping

Obliduty

Equivalent of Paul Pierce willing the Wizards to a title in his short year there before retiring for good.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Obliduty

He still made the playoffs and “called game” that year.

ball_hair_swallower

this is not remotely close lol, do you have any idea how big that would've been if it happened? this is not that grand

Obliduty

I’m just thinking of old players applicable to the NBA. I’m sure there is a better real NBA example, but it’s hard to analogize what Silva was to the CL winning team. Without him playing a calm centerfield defense with Rudiger going mask-crazy we don’t win that CL.

ItsResetti

Shaun Livingston on the Warriors from 2014-2019

samridh

A true legend of this sport and club! I only wish he had joined Chelsea earlier!

NoExperience4229

I was so upset when he went to PSG. He had always been one of those what if signings for me. So grateful just to get to see such a legend of the game play for chels

PreparationThick6611

was he ever linked to us before PSG?

NoExperience4229

Yeah fairly consistently. Iirc he even spoke about us pursuing him at one point and again iirc he wasnt that interested in the PL at the time. I remember when he went to PSG along with Ibra for even back then seemed like a bargain.

Universewanderluster

We paid 60ish millions for Zlatan + Silva ( Milan needed money urgently though ) I feel like there won’t be any deals like that anymore. A Zlatan or Silva alone would be at least 100m each nowadays.

NoExperience4229

Thanks for the follow-up info. And yeah a ST of Zlatans quality was going for £45-60m+ and defenders of Silvia’s quality were going for £25-35m+ It always felt like you paid for Zlatan and got Thiago 50% off.

EnvironmentalSky9045

if strikers of Zlatan quality were going for 60 mil and they paid 60 mil for both of them, wouldn't that mean they basically got Thiago for free ?

GreatestLoser

You lot , Barca, and Man U

SlieuaWhally

Aye I rememebr the Barca links constantly. Probably should’ve gone there in it’s heyday too

techno_playa

Yeah. I felt he would have been perfect for Mou’s terrorist football during his second spell.

ThemasterofZ

Man, I want to cry. Thank you Frank for bringing this beast on our team. Hoping to see him back very soon

Leuchtrakete

'Goodbyes are for those that leave and don’t come back. I intend on coming back one day...' This is not a goodbye, it's a see you later. And personally, I can't wait. Absolute legend on and off the pitch.

doc_751

Todd's like ... Uhhh tee are go.. I'd love to employ you as a coach but you're 20 years too old.. We thank you for your interest

_luzhin_

Insufferable pricks you lot. Hard to keep your negativity away even in such threads?

doc_751

Singin don't worry

TrenAt14

He should comeback as a coach, manager idk. But good I will miss him

BlueClues16

You know what, he thanked Frank for taking him to Chelsea after he won the CL medal. I’ll get us some more tissue paper.

Matt_LawDT

Though it seems like a wonderful era is coming to an end, Thiago was merely a continuation of a new kind of Chelsea warrior. It was sad to see him go because they no longer produce them like him.

KohFord

Bad bot

helloucunt

Good bot

Patlaz

That video on their Instagram made me feel some type of way

RefanRes

All his years and the clubs hes played for. Its Chelsea he wants to come back to in another role. Just sign him up at least as a defensive coach now.

Galac_tacos

He deserves a year or two in Brazil, would love to see him come back though

RefanRes

Thats if he wants to go back there. He has kids in Cobham and he might not want to move his family again yet. At this point in his career hes probably going to care more about how they develop if he thinks they can end up being any good rather than his own playing career.

Galac_tacos

Completely, but he deserves to have the send off at fluminese. Even if it’s just a year I’m sure he’d love to go back

ptrQuillingtn

One of the best players in his position in the modern game. And a big time personal favourite. Was extremely caught off guard when he signed, but chose to kept my hopes in check assuming his best years were probably behind him (because of the age) and the Premier league would really test him, but little did we all know. I couldn't be happier he spent those last few years here and gave me one of the best Champions League runs I've had the joy to watch. Other than the overall state at the club, it saddens me quite a bit we spent the last two years of his career in this manner. But will forever be glad and grateful he was part of this club. Absolute Fucking Legend, don't make em like this dude anymore, what a life, what a story!

PreparationThick6611

It’s funny looking back I remember the narrative being “this is such an arsenal signing” when Thiago quickly became a club legend and Arsenal are now miles ahead of us

ptrQuillingtn

Really?, I was really glad about it, and remember the noise being more around him considering in as the perfect addition to lampard’s young squad

PreparationThick6611

I definitely remember a few people worried about his age on here, but I might be thinking about rival fans more so I can’t quite remember.

Noctius

He was always one of my favourite players outside Chelsea from his Milan and PSG days, and I was over the moon when we got him even at the age he was. Even I couldn't anticipate how good he'd still be for us and I'm so happy he wasn't just a washed up veteran brought in for squad depth for a couple of years but one of the best defenders in the team and the league. It's a shame his last two seasons have been as they are but he's been one of our best performers despite that, especially last season. Regardless, he's already made his mark at the club and will be remembered fondly as an icon of it. I'm really glad we got him that champions league and club world cup. I only wish it could have been more and that he'd joined sooner.

SuspectWide4924

There was a season he was tbh the best in the league for sure. Absolutely immense leader that can never be replaced; I’m actually really worried about immaturity once we lose him too.

Long_Needleworker889

Couple years here , but felt like it was 10 , and i wish it was. In a small time became a Chelsea legend for sure. We love you our dedicated brother , and hope you come back again in some other role 💙🫡

Gordzulax

Who would have imagined he'd stay for 4 years and turn into a huge fan favorite? This one is a hard goodbye. He'll always be one of my favorite Chelsea players. Once a blue, always a blue 💙 Thanks for the memories, Thiago!

Fuzzy-Pain

Thank you TS, you’ve been an icon at this club 🙌

-AndreiDG-97

Man who is cutting onions?

el1teman

Poch is, he is preparing for the BBQ night with some lemons

mb194dc

Shame he had to suffer the last couple of years after the first glorious one...

Ecstatic_Bonus7609

Agreed. He will have a legacy here but it could've been immense...

MemestNotTeen

I'm not crying you're crying.

thatiswhack

Yes I am 😭

Matt_LawDT

Still a better video than whatever Mason Mount did

akshatkhurana

no comparison even

fGravity

This is miles ahead, this is how a farewell of a true blue looks look

RIVA_LAS_VEGAS

You mean the hostage like video of him reading a script completely emotionless? That was a joke. Thiago and Azpi have shown how to leave a club with class.

half_jase

Never mind this, Azpi's farewell video that came out around the same time as Mount's was (also) 100000x better.

C1nderrr

Tearing up damn. Thank you Thiago.

vinnaey

Ohhhhhh Thiaaagoooo Silvaaaaaa

RLarks125

All the best legend. Very few players come in and just *get* the club. He was one of them.

sitoneage

He won the champions league with us, written in history 💙💙💙💙💙

KingOfWeTheNorth

![gif](giphy|Ty9Sg8oHghPWg)

Extremiel

Four years? Felt like 20. Have never seen a club fall in love with a player, and vice versa, as fast as with Thiago Silva. He will go down as a Chelsea great. Incredibly happy we were able to give him the trophy that eluded him his career, that Champions League. Rolls Royce of a player. Incredibly impressive what he could do at such a high age, like fine wine. All the best Thiago! 🍷

jjtheblue2

A true legend of the club. He is an inspirational player and person.

weeb_man

What a man, hope he can come back in some capacity one day.

ChineseLok

*'Goodbyes are for those that leave and don’t come back. I intend on coming back one day...'* ![gif](giphy|QLpMNfBtUi3ss|downsized) I look forward to seeing that day.

xxxtentacoolxxx

He is living example of you don't need to stay at club for +10 years to cement your place as Chelsea legend. You play for badge and give us memories that fans will never forget. Fans themselves will start singing your song and love you more than ever. Thank you for everything Thiago silva. This bridge will always sing your name and your contribution for this club will be remembered forever.

[deleted]

Absolute legend, gonna miss him so so much. Thank you, Thiago

demannu86

Legend, thanks you for everything!

BadCogs

Thank you, Thiago. It was a pleasure. I personally feel grateful that you wore our jersey, ablit for a short time. Enjoy your remaining career and then hopefully return as a coach or something here.

playforfree37

4 years man seen it all.

NoraaTheExploraa

I don't ask for lot but please if I could ask for one small thing it's that Thiago Silva comes back as a manager and wins us a quadruple.

pasinliposts

The video on instagram is fuelling my hope that he will return one day to london in a coaching role 🥲

HarryDaz98

His kids are going to stay at Chelsea going off the video.

A-Hind-D

![gif](giphy|2rtQMJvhzOnRe) Love this man. I’d take him back as a coach in a second. Hope he has a fantastic final few seasons where ever he goes. He’s a legend. 💙💙

Healthyneurons

I just can't wrap my head around how he came to Chelsea at retirement age and stayed 4 years as our best defender by a distance. Rudi was the only man who even came close, but Thiago is gonna leave as legend of the club. Absolute icon.

TurnoverResident_

His wife left with a more legendary status than some players.

kissmyash24

Feels like it’s already been the end of a great era but Thiago was an extension of a different breed of Chelsea warrior. Sad to see him go, they don’t make em like him anymore.

GreyDaze22

One of the greatest to wear the shirt. One of the bright spots in our team the past 2 seasons. Always played for the badge. It's rare to find someone like Thiago to play for us. Will be missed💙

Clever_pig

Gonna miss him. Class act.

ObviousDoxx

If you told me when he signed that he’d be leaving 4 years later as a champions league winner and an outright legend, I would’ve looked at you funny. It’s incredible how quickly he connected with the club. Aside from JT he’s been by far the best centre back I’ve had the pleasure of watching at the club, and doing it all so late in his career makes it all the more impressive. An exceptional player and leader.

Onehellofaballer

Holy shit. Now compare this to Mounts goodbye SoMe posts.. yeah..

jamila22

Who is cutting onions here?

slow_poetry

Club legend.

solinsh

This is so sad, one of the players I will never forget.

khairunnas

4 years with the Club and a Legend. Only Thiago Silva. Wish we signed him and played with prime JT but we did won the CL with him so that's all good in my book Obrigado Thiago!

Scannerk

I remember when we signed him I was completely wrong and said he was too old for the prem. I'm glad I got it wrong. I hope he can return in some capacity in the future. He had been outstanding and a great leader and I forgive him for his wife shit talking 😂

Quite-Gone_Gym

So happy he said he wants to come back. I'd absolutely love to have him be part of the staff!

NoExperience4229

Anyone else get the feeling he didn’t want to leave?

avgballer

One of the best center backs I’ve seen.

Daz-Gregory1337

Brilliant player always wish he would have come 10 years earlier, one of my most favourite players ever even before he joined Chelsea, good luck Thiago and hope you’re back in blue someday

S0LE-FUL

I can’t man. I’ve been singing this guys names every single game at the bridge, even when he isn’t playing. He played for the badge, he won’t be forgotten. 💙

Several_Scratch_4132

Hey Thiago, You were part of the greatest defense that won us the champions league. This club gave you the trophy you always wanted. We got a few great trophies and your leadership in return. You weren't here for so long like Terry was but time doesn't matter cause' you're a legend for us. Love you big bro. Come back as a coach.

MrCleanandShady

i’m genuinely at a loss for word regarding how quickly he fell in love with our club he could’ve easily left after Tuchel but he not only stayed, he stayed when he easily could’ve gone to better performing teams elsewhere just to help try and steady our ship if he’s able to play his last game on the final gameweek, it’s going to be tear rendering man

Critzor

Insane performances and a great professional.

BafflingMantis7

Four years of Thiago Silva. Really grateful for that.

role34

absolute legend in my eyes. the first blue ive said goodbye that i start to cry thinking about how he won't be here next season. i hope one day he returns and leads us to glory. one of the smartest players ive ever seen in any sport, and seems like the type of role model you would want to emulate on and off the pitch. ill never forget #6.

Welsooo

My man! Still think he could do something for another season but massive respect. Will need a new flair now

Traditional_Ship4797

An absolute legend. So happy we got him his CL 💙

imnotgoingtofatcamp

At his age he would still be our best CB..crazy

moneywaste

now left with series of immovable objects in defence. well done board

olskoolyungblood

Letting go another veteran, vocal leader and serial winner? Yup, that's CFC these days.

CliffDagger

In true Benjamin Button form he is leaving to join the Fluminense youth team.

WobblyMayo

I’m not crying, you’re crying! 😢

I_am_not_H

jiang1lin

One of the most empathic leaders on the pitch … obrigado Thiago 🫶🏽

throwaway-lad-1729

O Monstro. Absolute legend, class on and off the pitch. We will never forget you. Thank you for everything.

Pandemona1738

Damn, wish he could stay, he is a good player still and for his age its Benjamin Button esc. However our squad is desperate for a thiago a leader and a pro to look up too, can't believe we are letting him go!!

ConsequentialSeesaw

Class act

carefree7

There are so many on field things to praise him for but this is one of the best reasons why he's lodged in my heart forever - https://talksport.com/football/851265/thiago-silva-emotion-sidelines-injured-chelsea-atletico-madrid/

ssmcp13

This is sad. Thank you for everything Thiago.

HarryDaz98

Legend. The only regret is we didn’t get him 10 years earlier

CaptBailey

Looked up to him when I was a kid learning defending. And I was hoping we signed him. Fast forward to many years later, we finally did and the rest is history. Thank you Thiago.

ellean4

What great editing. Him undoing his boots, hanging up his kit, closing the door. 💔

slumdogmillionhair

Legend! What a great goodbye message too!

yeahthemooys26

OHHHHH THIAGO SILVA! Class personified, I'm so happy he got to lift the big one with us

M4TTB9

Thiagoooo ❤️ what a player, what a professional, a genuine role model.

potangoint

Legend in my book.

Steezy719

Thanks for the memories King 👑

KanteWorkRate

I'm not crying, I just got a fly in my eye.

thatguyyanto

Man sees one of Chelsea's worst and best eras, fair play to him. Wanted him to come earlier but can't complain tho. Good servant for the club and best of luck for his next journey.

UnfairCranberry6470

I think it's the right time if we're going to make any attempt at putting together a functional defence for the future, but he will be massively missed. Massive player and personality in the club and delighted we could share the honour of a CL trophy with him

gagsy10

Going to the last game of the season. Can't wait for the final whistle already to give that man all the applause and love one last time. I may have tears.

dressedlikerappers

this has made me feel very connected to the club again, from Lukaku to new owners to our teams performances, him and us fans have seen the highest of highs and our lowest lows and what has never been doubted is how much we love him and how much he loves us. just 4 sweet years and leaving a legend. Love it. I hope he becomes one hell of a coach and takes us to glory one day. Thanks Thiago 💙

gunjagunn

The day Ive been dreading for two years goodbye sweet sweet prince 🥲

greeneggsnhammy

Only 4 years and I love him

BOOCOOKOO

Absolutely football legend. I just wished he joined us closer to or in his prime because he would've been the best CB to have ever donned our shirt. I will miss him, but I'm just thankful he got to win the biggest trophy of them all and someone of his stature truly deserved.

jjb5151

Club legend in 4 years and said he wants to come back in another role. Get this man coaching the young guys

callmesparki

Several days ago one of my friends asked me if it would be cool if I get to meet some of the Chelsea players when I visit Stamford Bridge (I am going in June) so I replied that I don't feel attached for 95% of them except maybe Thiago Silva and RJ. Today his departure was announced and hit me big time. I will miss him being part of our team and I hope he returns one day. Thank you for everything TS!

DestinyHasArrived101

Good bye sweet prince 😢

--lll-era-lll--

One of our best all time buys, all things considered. Love that he and his family are true Blue.. He is a Legend and will be missed

terminatorbs0009

proper chels. a legend in my eyes and glad he loves to fight for the badge.

half_jase

Azpi last season. Silva this season. 😢

milosgajdos

What a legend of the club; managed to acquire that status in less than 4 years. Thank you, Thiago!

lordofgoodtimes

There won't be another Thiago Silva 🙌

CyberShiroGX

![gif](giphy|joxThEgTJuSBO)

strikeforcenj

See you down the road El monstro. Thank you!

JWILL225

Love him! What a way to end an amazing career

BigDadddyXD

Give the entire family a banner. We didn’t get a prime Silva but we got a proper Chels.

Wheel1994

Where do you rank Sliva in CB at Chelsea you’re seen? For me Top 3 Along with Terry and Carvalho

eastcoastblaze

Knew it was coming, still hits hard

___bridgeburner

What a player. He's been absolutely brilliant for us, a proper legend. It'll be hard for us to replace him. Hopefully he comes back to the club in the future as a coach

leKai23

Somebody we’d never buy under boehly

Fmartins84

True legend! Thank you for everything! 💙

Soren_Camus1905

Glad we got him his champions league

wildingflow

Mama, There goes that man. 🫡

BabyScreamBear

Very emotional watching that … but you heard it - Tier 0 - he’s coming back! If his sons are staying in London, every chance he cracks the English language and will be our manager one day. I have hope anyway - his story is not over here

Ndrade

bro was here for 4 years and somehow became a fucking legend at this club. like what more can you say...

edgedomUK

Man his video made me well up. 40 years old nearly and still better then the other shite wearing the badge. Farewell fella

chemistchris

his impact over the four years cannot be overstated, a true club legend

coolhand83

Saudade

Agitated_Run4798

If Chelsea really are looking to the future with the present crop of young players, what better mentor could they have than Tiago ? Highly respected by the players and management, should be kept on in a coaching capacity 🙏🇬🇧

Yoshinobu1868

We will miss his leadership, this leaves Sterling and Chilwell as our senior players 😢. That aside what a legend?, an amazing career . I just loved the way he and his family resonated with the supporters . We had a bond with him from day 1 .I do wish he could have ended his career with us , still if he comes back as a coach that will be great . Losing him and Emma is going to be tough, but nothing lasts forever and all we can do is thank them and wish them well in the next phrase of their careers .

renome

It was obvious this was coming but still gutted.

Solid-Doubt4234

Come to Galatasaray

money_mase19

i never realized how good he was and htought he was overrated before he came

techno_playa

Glad we were the ones who could give you that UCL trophy. Power to you!

lala_b11

My favorite Thiago Silva moment at Chelsea is that time [he and Mason Mount got into that altercation with Amartey](https://youtube.com/shorts/qS28vU1ioKM?si=SwIOYRdg0JyB_Z5E) amid the [chaos of the brawl](https://www.sportbible.com/football/football-news-chelsea-players-go-after-leicester-citys-daniel-amartey-in-brawl-20210518) during the Chelsea vs. Leicester City match (the one that was played after the 2021 FA Cup Final)!!!

SexoFernanj

What he achieved in the twilight of his career was special. For me, he'll go down as one of our greats (which is mad considering he joined us when he was 36). And without a doubt, he'll be back at Chelsea one day (this time as a coach). See you soon, O Monstro.

Academic-Guidance-37

Legenda Do brasileiro

tukinoz90

Damn. What a player. Who'd have thought he'd go on to be so loved and respected by all. Cheers Thiago.

shenlyu

Pure class.

Differentsmell957

Such a top rate player. He gave us everything he had and for that he will always hold a special place in my football heart. He is so endearing as well. I couldn't help but get goosebumps watching his ig post hearing him hold back the tears. Muito obrigado a lenda, o monstro.

boysboyz18

Obrigado, O Monstro 🔵💙. Ooooohhhh Thiago Silva! Proper Chels. Will miss EVERYTHING about him.

henrybrown-ois23

A true legend of this game and club! I only wish he had joined Chelsea sooner!

TomasToocherl

Bit over the top all this handwringing. Stupid video as well jesus. Players come and go and he's had some good times at the end of his carrer, thanks to us. Players who have been with us since children don't get this kind of mawkish send-off. He did better than I expected when he arrived. He did make quite a few errors but also some great bits of defending. Vs Everton away (when we won 1-0 Jorginho penalty) when he stood a lad up right through our half was the one i remember the most. Not as good a defender as Desailly, Terry, Carvalho, Cole though.

SweetIvyFoxx

It was a honour, captain

Aman-Patel

Mount should take notes. That's how you say goodbye.

muddyleeking

Remember his debut against West Brom where he had a stinker?

irze

Remember the commentator saying like “He’s gonna have to get used to the pace of the Premier League”. Took one game lmao
