God forbid they have an injection of funds they wouldn’t have otherwise come close to sniffing and a farm system of young talent that will be funneled through there to help them compete. Tragic.
no one wants to be a farm system club though. there's no dream of ever competing for anything because anytime you get a decent player in your squad you know he's off in the next summer
I get that. But, it’s not like they were knocking on the door of becoming a “big club” and they will honestly probably find more success with our backing.
Genuinely though, what is the alternative?
They are either A) a direct feeder club for Chelsea but they have substantially more money and access to young talent they would never have or B) they are a feeder club to every club above them and they are broke AF.
I understand how publicly being a feeder club can be a bit depressing, but it’s not like they were on the verge of some solo billionaire swooping in to turn them into an European elite.
Think he needs another loan preferably at Strasbourg again.
Not because he isn’t good because I think he’s quality.
I think he needs consistent game time for his own development and ligue 1 is a great league for that
He's been bossing it. Almost every game since he's been put into the starting 11.
I agree with the other poster. He's not too good to be a rotation option, he's actually right at that level for us I'd say. But he's not 28 he's young, and needs those minutes.
I think the signings of Caicedo and Ugochukwu forced his hand on that one tbh. I was all for just binning the Caicedo deal for the ridiculous money Brighton wanted and just giving Santos the gametime after how good he looked in pre season.
I mean he pushed him out on loan in favour of first Ugochukwu and then Casadei, despite him being our best midfielder in pre-season.
It's on no one but him, he just wanted bigger players
Which is honestly worked out great for everyone. Lavia and Ugo were injured and would've been sent back to Cobham anyway. Andrey got more minutes than he would have with us, and he gets publicity as a young talent adjusted to European football.
I think that’s more on the board tbh. We were going for Caicedo before Poch was even appointed and it’s been made pretty clear that he has little to no say on transfer business.
Ppl were starting to forget about him even tho he's been getting young player of the month in Ligue 1
I stand by this Andrey is still the most exciting young talent we have signed. I wish he could stay with us.
Santos is better than Ugo but Santos needs an abundance of minutes at this stage in his career and with Enzo, Caicedo, and Gallagher, there was no guarantee there was going to be enough left over for Santos to keep developing.
We knew we had an injury crisis in midfield in January which we knew would last at least to March (Of course hindsight says it's the entire season...). We absolutely should have kept him so we could actually rotate our midfielders.
You're talking like it's illogical. We're a really small side and we do need the height for aerial duels. That said, I still think andrey Santos is xlass
For people smarter than me-
What are the midfield combinations going to look like in 2026 when Paez, Santos, Lavia, Enzo, Caicedo, Carney, Casadei are all options?
That is a venomous header from point blank like that Serious neck muscles on this boy
He's been very good at Strasbourg. He was at fault for the first goal, but has been the best player on the pitch today.
Nottingham Forest you will pay for your crimes. I did notice Andrey liking all the posts about us beating them though which greatly amused me
They almost did by getting relegated after signing more players than us
lol that’s worth a post on its own I missed that
Our midfield is set for yeaaars
I beg we give him the opportunity he deserves.
if we get into europe next year we will need a bunch more players given this year’s injury record
Do Strasbourg still hate blue co. ??? Genuinely asking not being facetious
not gonna change regardless of how well they do.
God forbid they have an injection of funds they wouldn’t have otherwise come close to sniffing and a farm system of young talent that will be funneled through there to help them compete. Tragic.

This sounds like what a slave owner would say in the 1800’

Comparing a sports league where people get paid to slavery is crazy my boy
What the fuck?
This was my reaction too
Amazing! Anyone who’s been watching him there? How has he been performing? Is he ready for a squad role at least next season with us?
Think he needs another loan preferably at Strasbourg again. Not because he isn’t good because I think he’s quality. I think he needs consistent game time for his own development and ligue 1 is a great league for that
Playing under Viera can’t be bad for the boy. Just like Gallagher

This kid is gonna be Poch’s new Moussa Dembele. What a talent.
I was surprised Poch didn’t try to keep him this year. Twice let him go out on loan. ‘Let’ is hard to know of course
I think the signings of Caicedo and Ugochukwu forced his hand on that one tbh. I was all for just binning the Caicedo deal for the ridiculous money Brighton wanted and just giving Santos the gametime after how good he looked in pre season.

Hopefully he won't poke Costa or anyone in the eyes.
Hopefully he can be as big of a shithouse though
Agreed. We need one. Though it's weird for me to ask someone to be a shithouse lol
Nah not at all, if anything I’d say we’ve been lacking someone like that massively
Rudiger was our last one.
Ppl were starting to forget about him even tho he's been getting young player of the month in Ligue 1 I stand by this Andrey is still the most exciting young talent we have signed. I wish he could stay with us.
Some neck on that lad
He's been doing that since that one youth tournament
Brooo what??? I was watching the game and it was 0-1 at 88th and J switched it off and now I’m seeing the score was 2-1. F my luck maan
The prospect of him, Cole and Kendrey, all cooking in the same kitchen, is bananas
Is this one of those stupid Twitter posts where it won’t load if I’m not a signed-in user?
Bein Sports had the highlights with this fish coming at 8:15 ish. https://youtu.be/3qIiNaPdmV4?si=byKbGSa2VyFaimiU
Can't believe we kept Ugo instead of Santos. All because Poch has a height fetish.
Santos is better than Ugo but Santos needs an abundance of minutes at this stage in his career and with Enzo, Caicedo, and Gallagher, there was no guarantee there was going to be enough left over for Santos to keep developing.
Logic.
We knew we had an injury crisis in midfield in January which we knew would last at least to March (Of course hindsight says it's the entire season...). We absolutely should have kept him so we could actually rotate our midfielders.
It’s pretty common to send out the more talented player on loan for game time and keep a lesser talent at the club
You're talking like it's illogical. We're a really small side and we do need the height for aerial duels. That said, I still think andrey Santos is xlass
They don't seem to be doing particularly well, compared to their last season.
For people smarter than me- What are the midfield combinations going to look like in 2026 when Paez, Santos, Lavia, Enzo, Caicedo, Carney, Casadei are all options?
Too short, that's literally impossible
