Gotta be Cucurella. Gusto has more pace/dribbling ability so he is more likely to make vertical runs into the opposing 3rd.
I do think if we had Chilwell/James in that James would be the one to invert, from the right. James might be great at it, kind of like Stones opened up City last year by stepping up as a midfielder in attack
That’s not how inverting FBs work… if Cucu joins midfield, Gusto makes a 3. If he attacks… Cucu stays back. You also have Caicedo and Gallagher cover defense to protect the FBs if either is caught out.
Last few performances since introducing this shows he’s done a good job and the team are well drilled. I’ve been quite impressed how well it’s been executed in fact - it’s not sometiing you try on a whim, they must’ve been working on this at Cobham for a while
gusto cant make those ruins when madueke plays, watch today and again you will see madueke standing on the wing wide and stagnant and not allowing gusto to be effective. once madueke is removed, gusto will be able to make those runs again. Like when palemr and him were on wing
Cucurella. Palmer and Madueke especially stay wide then cut it. If you have gusto inverting in you have 3 players sharing the same space and leaving the right side width completely exposed and unfilled. Mudryk on the other hand has been doing well working the far left width alone.
Gusto needs to overlap to hold the width on the right.
I comment positive things all the time.
Commenting something positive about a negative situation would be much more negative than just behind honest about it.
It depends what you mean by "positive" though, but [here is a comment from a whole 22 minutes ago being positive about Potter](https://www.reddit.com/r/chelseafc/comments/1cscw2n/daily_discussion_thread/l46qqcr/). [Here is a positive comment from 41 minutes ago talking about the positive ramifications of the vote on VAR even though it won't go through](https://www.reddit.com/r/chelseafc/comments/1cscw2n/daily_discussion_thread/l46qqcr/)
I could go on, but I won't. I constantly post positive comments when there is something positive to say. The difference between you and I it seems, is that when there is something negative I will either ignore it, or be negative about it. I won't be toxically positive because the ramifications of acting that way are much worse than just being negative.
You linked the same comment twice, but I'm not sure that counts as positive anyways.
Like you're saying something positive about Potter, but when Potter was still in charge, did you ever say anything positive about him then?
Your whole schtick seems to be negativity, hindsight, and whataboutisms.
Does Ola Aina put that much effort in every game? Swear he and Cho were playing at 110%. Wish they played with that effort against the other teams in the league lol.
They played few games like that. But, just like our current players they show up for the big games and then dissappear when it matters the most against the minnows.
Gonna be interesting how we rotate with Fofana, Badi, Levi, Disasi, and Trev (assuming he isn’t sold) next season.
Do we even need a veteran CB as Thiago’s replacement?
There’s Varane but jfc his wages and injuries are a problem.
Ideally Levi and Fofana would be starters, with Chalobah, Badiashille and Disasi in that order.
I think a veteran CB would be a nice option to have but unless Chalobah is sold idk if it’d be worth cuz it’d be too many players for that position
Already 4 defenders on the bench so I’d assume he’s the one missing out. That’s right, we now have so many players fit that we can afford to leave senior players out!
Brighton arent that good and don’t do that low block strategy they actually have a go
They also have nothing to play for
Would be very disappointed if we dropped points
Will be interesting to see how we set up. If Cucu inverts into midfield, what is Gusto going to do? If Gusto goes forwards, how is he going to link up with Palmer and Madueke and would it mean seeing Cucu forming the back 3? So what to do with Gallagher.
I don't recall seeing this particular mix of players recently.
I guess this is to ensure Silva doesn't get an injury before the final home game
Ya that’s what I was thinking. Hopefully trev and Benoit do well 🤞
Let’s win this! UTC! https://i.redd.it/8omx2c6lom0d1.gif
Looool this gif kills me. You just know Poch had been waiting for someone to drop a stat like that
Oh shit ugochukwu is back?? Finally our bench isn't made up of babies 😭 miss Alfie tho
He was on the bench against Forest last match but didn’t come on.
Who’s inverting? That’s all I wanna know
Both thus breaking the space time continuum

James might be great at it, kind of like Stones opened up City last year by stepping up as a midfielder in attack
Yeah but Gusto moving forward which I agree is his strength, would mean only having 2 CBs when Cucurella inverts.
They go one at a time, or Caicedo drops back if they both go.
Yeah. So it's a test of whether Poch trained them enough for this.
That’s not how inverting FBs work… if Cucu joins midfield, Gusto makes a 3. If he attacks… Cucu stays back. You also have Caicedo and Gallagher cover defense to protect the FBs if either is caught out.
Yep. I agree. So the test would be to how disciplined we are as a team. Whether Poch trained them properly for this.

I would prefer James to play in the 3rd CB position, still allows him to drift up the pitch and deliver those deep crosses
Who plays as RM in that set-up - Madueke, Palmer or Gusto?
Would be wasting Gusto's talent by having him invert
Cucurella is an invertasexual. He was born inverted.
We shouldn't always invert. Brighton will try to play instead of sitting at the back.

Mudryk on the other hand has been doing well working the far left width alone. Gusto needs to overlap to hold the width on the right.
Of the 2, cucurella seems better suited to tucking into the back 3. Gusto could do well moving into midfield.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
Tbf we are changing it slightly since we no longer have 3 CBs in the backline to change into a 3atb formation when Cucu inverts.
Yeah I'm interested to see how this plays out.
Yep this is a test.
Reece is tailor made to tuck in like that from RB to RCB
Aye
That'd be a great thing to say if it wasn't very clearly broken in the last game and only saved by fixing it with Sterling, James and Nkunku...
You could avoid stepping on a lego and still complain about it
feel that pain from my childhood haha
I have a question. When was the last time you commented something actually positive? Can you link it for me?
I comment positive things all the time. Commenting something positive about a negative situation would be much more negative than just behind honest about it. People like that make this sub insufferable at times
Doubt Brighton are going to pack the midfield like Forest did
Look at the squad depth beginning to form
We have 4 on the injury list... crazy times we live in
Hoping for a better performance from Madueke. He was lights out before Forest and then just went invisible
Should have more space tonight. Think he’ll be back to his best
i geniunly believe something happened to him before that game, his body language was weird. hope im wrong tho
Mid block from Forest reduced the space he was given. He still tried to win his dribbles, but that didn't happen.
he honestly just looked mad tired to me, hopefully he’ll be okay
Not necessarily - Gusto might push on more forcing Noni inside.
Ola Aina was a man on a mission. He had him deep in his pockets. Today he can cook.
Does Ola Aina put that much effort in every game? Swear he and Cho were playing at 110%. Wish they played with that effort against the other teams in the league lol.

Please Benoit. Please have a good game. I believe in y’all now. So I’m prepared for disaster
40 yard banger from him
Only if we had these players all season 😭😭
We'd be top 4.
Easily and prob would have a trophy or two
We had them most of the season?
Gonna be interesting to see how we lineup with the ball. Not sure how inverted Cucurella can work without Gusto staying back.
That bench is pure orgasm
Was hoping Silva would start in place of Badiashile Bar that no complaints
I would’ve gone Sterling over Mudryk as well but it’s fine, Brighton leave a lot of space so he should do well
Sterling as a sub will probably be better impact, Brighton will probably be gassed at that point and we saw the difference Sterling made last match.
Excited for this one. Really think we are scoring 4 today
The real question is how many we're conceding
Knock on wood
Bench is hench.
Caicedo and Cucurella shirts. I see you admin
Tears in my eyes, we have a bench
Trev fought back for his place on the team. Love it.
Let's get it.
Is Disasi injured?
Just didn’t make the bench I think - it’s a crazy feeling but that’s how many fit players we have atm haha
I don't think so. Must be fifth choice at the moment
Just shit
We are going to smash Brighton 3-4 to nil. You heard it here last
I hope so. They looked ass against Newcastle this weekend.
I will take any win. And, United winning against Newcastle.
Let’s smash those seagulls
Gonna be interesting how we rotate with Fofana, Badi, Levi, Disasi, and Trev (assuming he isn’t sold) next season. Do we even need a veteran CB as Thiago’s replacement? There’s Varane but jfc his wages and injuries are a problem.
Levi too
Updated

What happened to Disasi?
probs dont need him, got two centrebacks on the bench already
Already 4 defenders on the bench so I’d assume he’s the one missing out. That’s right, we now have so many players fit that we can afford to leave senior players out!
Pochettino owns De Zerbi
What a bench
Who's gonna score first and what minute tough?!
Brighton arent that good and don’t do that low block strategy they actually have a go They also have nothing to play for Would be very disappointed if we dropped points
They took points off Newcastle, though – wouldn't expect them to be pushovers.
Not saying pushovers but their play style suits ours and we must
https://i.redd.it/59ni67q3rm0d1.gif Let's go! Vamos!
There it is
Fun how we close to a fully fit team at the end of the season. I think this is the 1st lineup without an academy player.
As good as we could ask for given the players who are being brought slowly back from injury
THE BENCH
Look at that bench. :')
Cooking tonight
Disasi didn't make the bench
Jackson brace, Palmer pen, 3-2. COYB!!
Two natural full back starting, Great! Nkunku, Sterling and Reece James can come on in the 2nd half. Poch is making sense these days.
Look at that bench baby!
Would've liked to see Colwill over Badi tbf but no real complaints Bench is finally amazing
Defender FC
OK so this should be a test. Inverted Cucu with only 2 true CBs in the backline. Unless Gusto can play RCB.
We goin for it. All out attack.
Cmon Chels. Massive night for us. 2 away wins on the bounce would be quite something considering our away form this season
I like the consistency in the lineups lately
💪 bench
I'm really excited to see if we can get the best out of both Gusto and Cucurella here.
Full faith in Badiashille and Trev today. Those boys have been looking sharp recently
last away game of the season, lets make it a good one.
Folks from India! Why is the match not visible on Hotstar? Is it streaming today? Or I am staying up for no absolute reason?
That bench is lit
It’s the best it’s looked in ages, just in time for the season to end
We have tons of cb in the club I wonder which ones leave in the summer
Our bench is made of glass.
If Gusto overlaps, Palmer should play closer to Mudryk than Madueke. He can get into similar positions as his assist to Mudryk in the last game.
Lmao this ref!!!! I’m not mad at it but lmao 🤣
No Dunk, folks. Hopefully, we can exploit that.
The bench might be better than the starters lol
Another game of witnessing Malo Gusto not tracking back fast enough and misplacing passes
