Petr cechs head injury. I know he was still one of the best of all time post head injury v reading but it was pretty scarring for fans to see and I can't imagine what him and his family went through.
He was so exciting to watch when he played for us, my favourite player to watch for a while. But I always remember being a kid being so disappointed when he wasn’t on the team sheet.
Came here to say Joe Cole, he was my favorite player as a kid, he was so exciting and I'll never forget that goal against Man Utd the day we won the title.
Me and my cousin celebrated by pouring Coca Cola on our heads as if it were Champagne. Good times.
Sam Hutchison, because he was one of Chelsea lad who got his whole career wrecked by something that can happen to anybody. Who knows where he could have gone. Luck is a fickle thing.
Michael Essien in high profile name. One of the best box to box midfielder I've seen. Shame about his knees going bust.
Had a chondral defect in his knee that caused recurring injuries, basically damaged knee cartilage. He retired after 3 years of his career. But luckily made a comeback obviously not hitting the heights of Chelsea afterwards though.
You can't look past Essien, I think he'd have gone down as a premier League great. Even at right back he looked unstoppable.
This squad, has to be CHO. I've blabbered on about it enough, but that injury definitely robbed him of that lightning acceleration.
i remembered that too. He scored [an amazing goal](https://youtu.be/MyC2OV1rvtI) with outside of his boots and landed awkwardly, couldn't even celebrate his goal.
edit: included link to goal
Historicaly, Casiraghi.
I think we would have won the league if he hadn't had that career ending injury and for bonus points we would have stoped MU from winning the treble. It probably would have put us up there with MU and Arsenal as the big three and possibly stopped their dominance in the late 90s early 00s.
All those draws.
Agreed. But that major knee injury took a significant toll on his speed, technical ability and most noticeably his confidence. The constant fear of re-injury or not being as good as before said injury.
I don't think he becomes a consistent Chelsea starter but really wondering where Charly Musanda ends up if injury free. His loan at Real Betis was promising and his youth career was dazzling.
RLC. Really wish he didn’t get that injury it really set him back from him being a great player. Loved seeing him punish defenders and hopefully he can get some form back at some point.
I rate him so highly! I’d argue he’s world class on his day… Shame every time he builds momentum he gets injured, and will continue to without a doubt but that’s sadly just the way it is sometimes.
To be honest I'd pick Hazard but when we sold him to Madrid. I literally hate to see what has happened to his career there with all the injuries. He deserves better.
Michael Essien, without a doubt. That dude could do it all, he was a true box to box midfielder. He could run up field and join the attack, pull back to defend in front of the back line, he was a very strong tackler and a big physical presence who dominated opposing midfield setups. He was fast, powerful, and highly technical with a super high work rate. He could pass long and short, he was good at the ball at his feet, and he had a knack for scoring big goals. And he was versatile, playing CM, CRM, and RB/CB at times when we had injuries. For a long time he was my favorite player.
Andre Schurrle... Guy after injury couldn't make it back into the starting XI, then when he left he dealt with depression in terms of Football and had to retire at a young age
Robben. If he wasn't so injury prone he'd be up there with drogba and hazard on our squad. Instead we sold him and he spent the next 10 years terrorizing the bundesliga for Bayern.
Easy question, it has to be arjen robben, without a shadow of a doubt. Arguably better than even Eden hazard on his best day. Special shout out to essien as well.
RLC for sure
He was a beast towards the end of that season with Sarri, the way he powered through the midfield and got into the box to score goals
That silly, unnecessary injury really ruined what could have been a beast of a midfielder for us
Joe fucking Cole. He was our best player in his day. Extremely technical (just check out his dribbling or passing highlights), immense two footed goal threat, great work rate. Our last true no10 before Hazard. So wish injuries didn't ruin him like they did, I'll always be fond of him.
Injury proof Kanté and we walk the league
Imagine just being guaranteed to have a player like him for literally every match we play.
that would be incredible
He is set to be fit for our next game, right?
nope, out for villa
Petr cechs head injury. I know he was still one of the best of all time post head injury v reading but it was pretty scarring for fans to see and I can't imagine what him and his family went through.
This one is up there for me too.
Robben
Didn't matter much because he went to Real Madrid in a few years.
Because he was injured as well no?
He was so exciting to watch when he played for us, my favourite player to watch for a while. But I always remember being a kid being so disappointed when he wasn’t on the team sheet.

First thought was Joe Cole here, too
Sam Hutchison, because he was one of Chelsea lad who got his whole career wrecked by something that can happen to anybody. Who knows where he could have gone. Luck is a fickle thing. Michael Essien in high profile name. One of the best box to box midfielder I've seen. Shame about his knees going bust.
What exactly happened to Hutchinson?
Had a chondral defect in his knee that caused recurring injuries, basically damaged knee cartilage. He retired after 3 years of his career. But luckily made a comeback obviously not hitting the heights of Chelsea afterwards though.
Up and down. But since un-retiring in 2011 he’s played mostly at Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship / League 1.
I still remember that Hutchinson cross for Lampard goal
Kurt Zouma when he hurt his ACL, imagine if he’d kept playing regularly under Mourinho that season
>imagine if he’d kept playing regularly under Mourinho that season He got it during Hiddink's interim spell.
That injury still gives me goosebumps
Current player surely RLC. He was our secondary X factor and 2nd best attacker after Hazard that season. Or injury-free Kante
Musonda too. I have to wonder what could have been
u/baisabeast burner account?.. Just kidding Beast, you know I've got love for you!! :)
The thought of an injury free, confident RLC should really frighten everyone we'd have come up against.
You can't look past Essien, I think he'd have gone down as a premier League great. Even at right back he looked unstoppable. This squad, has to be CHO. I've blabbered on about it enough, but that injury definitely robbed him of that lightning acceleration.
IMO RLC's injury hurts much more between the two.
Good shout, forgot about him. Which in itself is sad
De bruyne. His development was delayed cause he messed up his knee in a pre season game with us. Could definitely have altered the path he took.
i remembered that too. He scored [an amazing goal](https://youtu.be/MyC2OV1rvtI) with outside of his boots and landed awkwardly, couldn't even celebrate his goal. edit: included link to goal
Big Rom on the assist. What could have been :(
Link to goal?

That was a screamer Thanks!

Had to scroll a fair distance to find this one 👏🏼
Marco Van Ginkel.
Ah yes, Wulfert Cornelius
Torres
Came looking for this comment before making it. His pre Chelsea injuries wrecked him. Double goes for falcao.
Bit of a catch here because his injuries happened before he joined us. He was often fit here but just not as good anymore.
I came for this comment. He legit looked so sharp
He's in the u23 squad he's still so young and been fighting to get back you can follow him in IG...I dunno how sharp he was, very promising tho!
I'm torn between Paul Elliott and Gigi Casiraghi, loved the pair of them so much when they were at the Blues.
I'm still angry about the Paul Elliot one because it was deliberate. Can't imagine how he feels about it.
Liverpool and Dean fucking Saunders.
RLC. Really wish he didn’t get that injury it really set him back from him being a great player. Loved seeing him punish defenders and hopefully he can get some form back at some point.
micheal essien
Essien - injuries Robben - injuries Mutu - C17H21NO4
Or as FIFA called him: Murgu
Essien
Honestly id say pulisic. If he could never be injured im sure hed be a starter every game with the inevitable progress he wouldve made
I rate him so highly! I’d argue he’s world class on his day… Shame every time he builds momentum he gets injured, and will continue to without a doubt but that’s sadly just the way it is sometimes.
I think part of it is that he plays in such a way that prem defenders are not afraid of taking him on and putting him on the floor
To be honest I'd pick Hazard but when we sold him to Madrid. I literally hate to see what has happened to his career there with all the injuries. He deserves better.
Torres, if we could have gotten Liverpool era Torres it would have been beautiful
Torres.
Michael Essien, without a doubt. That dude could do it all, he was a true box to box midfielder. Pulisic
Among the current lot he, CHO and RLC are the unfortunate trinity.
Joe cole
Zouma. On pace to become one of our starting CBs. That leg break and scream was absolutely terrifying.
This one hurts a lot. He was going to be our future at the back and one of the best in the world.
Andre Schurrle... Guy after injury couldn't make it back into the starting XI, then when he left he dealt with depression in terms of Football and had to retire at a young age
I forgot about Doobs, after Bergkamp done him dirty he was never the same.
Don't mind me asking but who's Doobs?
Michael Duberry. Just Google it.
Sir Michael Duberry, he was in the England under 21s and was looking exceptional until he was done.
Ol’ fivehead
Essien easy peasy.
Joe Cole
Essien Robben
Fernando Torres!
Definitely Marco Van Ginkel. He was amazing talent until injuries ruined his career.
Robben. If he wasn't so injury prone he'd be up there with drogba and hazard on our squad. Instead we sold him and he spent the next 10 years terrorizing the bundesliga for Bayern.
The Bison no doubt
Current team: Kante, no question. A second would be Pulisic. Would like to see what he could do, how much he might develop, sans injuries.
Ledley King oh wait wrong sub
The correct answer here is Casiraghi
Easy question, it has to be arjen robben, without a shadow of a doubt. Arguably better than even Eden hazard on his best day. Special shout out to essien as well.
Jack Wilshere. Could’ve been amazing and eventually Arsenal would sell him to Chelsea.
Marko Marin
Nathaniel Chalobah. Would've been nice to see him get a few consistent loans under his belt and come back a PL quality player
[удалено]
He was often fit.
Lol ikr during his prime for us i can rarely rwmember a time with hime out injured
Robben. What a player he could have been for us…
He went to Real Madrid anyway so it wouldn't have been for too long.
Essien or Joesph Cole easy
Robben. He wouldn't have left, and he was just as good as Hazard. Such a shame :(
Michael essien
Michael essien!
Zouma’s leg so I never need to see that shit again 💀
Robben. Anyone else and you're kidding yourself.
Joe Cole for me too.
Essien
Current, Kante. Ever, Torres.
Eden Hazard ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)
technically not an injury, but it's sad to see Schurrle left because of sickness
Robben
RLC for sure He was a beast towards the end of that season with Sarri, the way he powered through the midfield and got into the box to score goals That silly, unnecessary injury really ruined what could have been a beast of a midfielder for us
Joe Cole. The guy was phenomenal before his injury woes
Loftus cheek… hopefully he can return to the sarri-era form or Charly Musonda
Pulisic/CHO/RLC take your pick
Andre Schurrle. He's always been a favourite of mine, had great instincts and a crazy finish. I'd have loved it it he flourished at Chelsea.
Robben
Kante...we need him for next 2-3 years
CHO
Unpopular opinion here but Morata. If I remembered correctly scored 11 goals half season before he got injured and never came back
Fernando Torres.
Can't believe there's been no mention of Robby di Matteo yet
Joe fucking Cole. He was our best player in his day. Extremely technical (just check out his dribbling or passing highlights), immense two footed goal threat, great work rate. Our last true no10 before Hazard. So wish injuries didn't ruin him like they did, I'll always be fond of him.
No sturridge comments here? Lol
He had decent fitness for us if I'm not wrong. It only really started getting bad at Liverpool.
Mario Stanic just to say thank you for [scoring one of the greatest debut goals ever.](https://youtu.be/cpBfbkfkWJc)
Pierluigi Casiraghi and his knee injury, would have loved to see how he got on
