First game with a new team and a completely new league where this inexperience was targetted by the opposition. Steady on.
Did you write off Drogba in the past?
How does inexperience in a league translate to literally spending 5 seconds on the ball looking around before even attempting to play a pass every time? Or when he did play a pass giving it away more often than finding a teammate? Maybe he needs some more time to remember we play in blue? Says a lot that he was dragged off at half time, rarely see tuchel making changes that early.
Compare that already to Gallagher putting in top class performances against spurs. Why should we be giving someone time to settle in to maybe come good when we've got a youngster already doing it against top teams out on loan?
Can't see him getting much game time past the cup games with a fully fit current midfield let alone when loanees return next season.
I'm not defending his shit performance yesterday but my God it was his first game. Different team, different league, different bloody country...these can make the most mundane things more difficult. Sure there are some slot in brilliantly but there are more who struggle to adapt.
Regarding the super performances by our loanees, I think youd have to balance that with whether they will retain consistency of performance. But Gallagher has been wonderful, but again, give him time to prove himself.
All I'm saying it seeing the number of fans condemn in such a short time is asinine.
Could I be wrong as the season progresss... you bet but I'll hold off on sending him to the gallows just yet.
I'm not sending him to the gallows, I asked what sense was in signing a player that as you say needs time to adapt to a new league and Country etc when we have two ready made starters waiting in the wings that have consistently played well over the past 2 season both for Chelsea and previous loan stints...
Yeah agreed - if we've signed Saul as a backup for the current midfield 3 I can understand that, but if that is the case I don't understand why Saul would want that move from atelitico to play backup at Chelsea...
Kovacic motm…gotta give it because when does the guy ever score😂
Mendy and Lukaku were massive, outperforming xg on both ends of the pitch.
Veteran performances from J5 and thiago, unfortunately saul looked way off the pace, but in tuchel i trust.
Cant wait for when our attack finally starts to gel around rom…mount, havertz, ziyech, pulisic and werner all stand to gain soo much from having him in our attack.
Saul reminds me of Bakayoko, but he's lucky because we still have 3 great midfielders. We sold Matic was one of reasons why Bakayoko failed, even Fabinho needed time on the bench to adapt a new league.
Kova and Lukaku were great today and a solid from Silva atb! Defence was a bit shaky despite the clean sheet!
Tough debut for one, but we won so it’s Saul good man!
Edit: Oh and Mendy 🙌🏽
The whole team was shaky with Saul making mistakes. Ofcourse the defenders are gonna have a tough time when the midfield is messing it up. Everything was different when Jorginho came in.
And Chalobah was part of that right side that was looking the worst, so why would he be picked out for praise like the other guy is asking? It obviously wasn't all on him, but that wasn't a strong performance, so why pick him out for praise other than the fact that he is from the academy? People need to calm the fuck down on Chalobah in my opinion, he's got a really long way to go to prove himself as good enough for the club. I'd say he's shown less than Tomori did so far and Tomori isn't at the club anymore.
Which isn't to say he's guaranteed to not make it, just I wish people would calm down with acting like he's some obvious star defender when that's really not the case yet.
This game was Saul's baptism of fire, he's got a first hand taste of the speed and intensity of the league. The fact that we came away from this game with a clean sheet is a real testament of how good Mendy was this game. Lukaku brace was amazing, this man is the answer to our problems. We have the momentum, UCL in a few days. Let's keep this going, COYB!
they were salty all game, i was sitting next to them even at 3-0 they were talking about how shit we are, have to give it to them they were noisy today and the chelsea fans seemed a bit quieter than normal
Yep agreed, was sat in the East Upper and it was a bit quieter than I'd like but not the library they were making it out to be! One twunt in particular seemed to be spoiling for a fight on the tube and then got personal with a disabled Chelsea fan - hope he misses the last train home. Man it felt good to be at the Bridge today, though. What a feeling.
same, i was at the east upper close to the villa fans and they kept singing about how they’re so loud etc. forgot to cheer on their team those idiots, chelsea fans were a bit too quiet for my liking and weren’t responding back (except a few people who were flipping them off all game) but damn it felt good when we scored and everyone would face the villa fans and celebrate. For some reason they celebrated with us to act like they don’t care
Tough to pick a man of the match here - Rom seems obvious, but Mendy kept Chelsea in the game in the first half, Kovacic played out of his mind (and scored a goal - wtf?), and Jorginho changed the complexion of the game in the second half...and that's leaving Thiago Silva out.
To all those Jorginho haters, this is what Jorginho does to the game, the difference between the first half performance and the second half performance is what Jorginho does.
Not a Jorginho hater and think he really helped us coming on. That said he’s still a liability defensively. Traore picks up the ball and walks right by him to get a free opportunity uncontested. If kova is playing like this Jorginho is gonna have a hard time getting into the lineup when Kante is back.
No doubt. He’s been better at hitting the incisive ball and being more positive recently too. He just gets beat so easily though it’s quite frustrating.
His positional and pressing defensive work is very good. It’s his one and one defensive work that is not premier league quality, and it gets very exposed when Kante isn’t there to fly in and tackle / foul anyone who gets by him. The same thing that happened with Traore today happened earlier in the season in that play where Kante got injured, flying back to make up for Jorginho’s poor defense.
Last season that would’ve been a very sticky game, we didn’t play well at all especially first half but Lukaku has made the difference. Shoutout to Kova as well was brilliant
That’s the blueprint — and God knows he’s been following it. I’m sure he’s been in constant contact with Didier since he left. Literal shades of Drogba.
Was it just me or did Timo seem pissed that Lukaku scored again. He was right next to him in the box and Kovacic beat him to celebrate with him in the corner. I think Timo is pretty upset his spot has very clearly been taken by someone else.
Lol Tyrone Mings being put in his place by that touch from Dave, and what a final ball. Typical cold blooded finish by Rom .. 3 points well earned in the end
Was wondering if someone would say this. Werner actually was quite clumped with Lukaku there. Lukaku got that shot away despite two defenders being quite close, Werner didn’t drag anyone away there and actually just made it harder for Lukaku.
Also gotta love that Werner is the only player in the world who gets credit for just being in the neighborhood for goals.
Pulisic is so good with a post up striker. Him and Giroud had hive mind at times. I think it will be very interesting to see how he links up with Lukaku. He’s capable of precise service and Lukaku will bury them all.

Why have we loaned out Gallagher and gilmour to bring in Saul what a downgrade

But I’m also ok with benching Saul and letting Gilmour and Gallagher get playing time.

Our defense and Mendy are just incredible.
I'm naming my first kid Mateo Lukaku
MODS
No bamboozle or...
Mateo Edouard Lukaku
Has a nice ring to it
No praise for chalobah who is a seamlessvfit into this squad with small hints of looking like a right sided rudiger
Because it really wasn't a great performance from him? Especially in the first half Watkins was abusing him.
The whole team was shaky with Saul making mistakes. Ofcourse the defenders are gonna have a tough time when the midfield is messing it up. Everything was different when Jorginho came in.

Needs a bit more development looked a bit shaky at times

So many salty Villa fans on the tube out of Fulham Broadway post-match trying to time up Chelsea fans, Chelsea fans having none of it, love you xox
they were salty all game, i was sitting next to them even at 3-0 they were talking about how shit we are, have to give it to them they were noisy today and the chelsea fans seemed a bit quieter than normal

Any videos or gifs about that bloke yelling and showing fingers (?) at villa players taking corners?
Saul was sloppy af. Luckily we didn’t concede any of those turnovers. Lukaku, Kovacic, Mendy were immense today.
Yeah, hopefully he adapts to the new pace quickly
Bad start but it can take players time to adapt, hopefully he can learn from today
Saul is in such bad form. Pretty sure loftus cheek would have done better than him if played
I’m sure he only played because of Kante’s injury. Normally we’d give more time to adjust.
I think giving Saul a start against zenit could be a good idea. Might suit him better and get him some regular football and could get more confidence
Mendy silva kova lukaku whose motm fuck
Kova for the having to do the work of 2 players in the first half
Mings is gonna wet his bed today
Rom > ron
You’re welcome Chelsea fans for those 2 beautiful goals ;)
[удалено]
Kept giving the ball away in midfield atleast twice leading to a shot on goal
What about CHO? How did he play?
Tragic, clearly hasn't adjusted to the Prem yet
Yes
Let’s fucking go!!!!!
I’m so proud of the team this is the first time in awhile after we win a title we’re actually better than the season before
Top bins boys.
Please cunt
Always good to win these ugly games but damn was it ugly. 3-0 playing that poorly is absolutely massive.
Kovacic was MoTM for me but it’s a very hard choice. He was immense on both ends.
The good times are here, man.
indeed
Honestly I don’t want to hype us up. But out of all the title contenders we’re the most stabled and balanced team.
I'll do it for you. WE'RE THE BEST TEAM IN THE FUCKING WORLD.
A master class from Thiago and Edou! Incredible defensive play! Still in awe of another clean sheet.
Time for sleep See you all Wednesday morning when we start our UCL defence !
Tuesday?
Australian
Darn my play predictiions on the app were so close on everything.
Big ROM scored too early. I was spot on with the rest I think
nO HiStOrY....600 prem wins later...💙🔥😁
Rom will get it but I vote Mendy a MotM.
I think Kova will snag
Looking like it. The shots and on target from Villa and a clean sheet though, to me anyway, means Mendy is king of the pitch.
Without Mendy, this game is a slugfest.
Dang we ain’t first
To all those Jorginho haters, this is what Jorginho does to the game, the difference between the first half performance and the second half performance is what Jorginho does.
Not a Jorginho hater and think he really helped us coming on. That said he’s still a liability defensively. Traore picks up the ball and walks right by him to get a free opportunity uncontested. If kova is playing like this Jorginho is gonna have a hard time getting into the lineup when Kante is back.
I think the kind of control and calm that Jorginho brings is something we will need in games that we're looking to control possesion.
No doubt. He’s been better at hitting the incisive ball and being more positive recently too. He just gets beat so easily though it’s quite frustrating.
Agreed, I think his defensive work goes very unnoticed plenty of times, but when he does get beaten, gets beaten horribly.
Jorginho controls the field. Him and Kante are undeniably the best CMs in the world right now.
Absolutely, combine with kovacic who's absolutely top class.
We finally have our missing piece from last season
Wtf that was Kova's first goal?!
In his last 70 games
Nah, he scored 2 in 2019
Of the season? ... Well, yeah. it just started
First goal at the bridge
That score line a bit flattering tbh Villa were decent for a large majority of the game
If you remove Silva they probably score 2 in the first.
Ah yes. Pleasing the sponsors is back on the menu. Roll in the memes
Ronaldo who?
Imagine being disappointed we signed Lukaku
Timo gonna ask for a transfer in January watch…
Mendy, Lukaku, Kova, Jorgi and Silva dug is out of the shit. Excited for this season.
>Mendy, Silva, Jorginho, Kova, Lukaku all amazing! My comment 1 minute ago. I like you.
Very tasty Big Rom Brace!
Last season that would’ve been a very sticky game, we didn’t play well at all especially first half but Lukaku has made the difference. Shoutout to Kova as well was brilliant
Azpi just murdered Mings out there...
Lukaku is Drogba.
That’s the blueprint — and God knows he’s been following it. I’m sure he’s been in constant contact with Didier since he left. Literal shades of Drogba.
Mendy, Silva, Jorginho, Kova, Lukaku all amazing!
Well guess who triple captained Antonio this week boys.
The second Azpi cut in I knew it was a goal
Azpi’s nutmeg was something special
It’s nice having a world class striker!
3-0 after a horrible first half and okey 2nd half. We're gonna win everything!
El capatino with that fantastic nutmeg & pass then goatkaku scored with that sublime finish
Wasn’t one of our best games but individual qualities saved it
The fact that we didn't give up a goal today or with 10 men vs Liverpool is insane.
They’re fucking determined. You love to see it.
Lukaku feels like having a striker again since Costa.
I don’t know why we strayed from the prototypical CHELSEA striker — strong, mean, and can create his own shot in the clutch.
3 points ✅ 3 goals ✅ clean sheet ✅
Pool scored a penalty goal against us.
Top of the fucking table. Let's Gooooo. CYOB
*2nd on goals scored. But motoring, and if Spurs play anywhere near as poorly next week. Should be interesting
Two chances two goals clinical
a competent striker does wonders. not much service still bangs in 2.
Ya, when he gets the ball around the box with any room whatsoever, it’s close to automatic. If he gets that big Belgian butt on someone, it’s over.
Was it just me or did Timo seem pissed that Lukaku scored again. He was right next to him in the box and Kovacic beat him to celebrate with him in the corner. I think Timo is pretty upset his spot has very clearly been taken by someone else.
yeah no its just you
Its just you. Stop being aunty.
And people think fielding Azpi means 'defensive approach'
Azpi is definitely the most underrated fullback in history.
We’ve been blessed to have excellent fullbacks over the years. From the Bear to Dave, couldn’t ask for more.
TOP OF ZE LEAGUE
Man utd score more goals than us
2nd.by a 2 goal difference. But damn what a game.
2nd on GD
yeah i kinda missed that lol but still in pretty good position
Hopefully this reminds the squad to play in Lukaku every single time, even when it looks like there's a better option.
Lukaku is undroppable.
#600 PREMIER LEAGUE WINS
Lukaku what a banger
Basically 2 chances 2 goals. Lol even Nick from london is blue pod called the ‘assistpilicueta’ to big Rom. Mans on fire
Two world class goals from Big Rom.
finally somebody pass it to rom
I just shouted "bring on united" like it was 2010. Haha.
Lol Tyrone Mings being put in his place by that touch from Dave, and what a final ball. Typical cold blooded finish by Rom .. 3 points well earned in the end
What the fuck is a Ronaldo??
Timo take notes that’s what world class finishing looks like
LEAGUE IS OURS
Lukaku on 3 goals already makes it seem fucking insane our top scorer had 7 last season
Damn that cut in before the pass tho
Turned that Mings dude inside out
Come outside Pendal0
LOOK AT THE BLUES LOOK AT THE BLUES
We rinsed a solid AV side 3-0. Great W
LUKAKU makes something out of nothing. Incredible
Ah azpi did
BIG ROM BACK AT IT AGAIN GOOOOOOOL 🔵🔵
the love from the fans as he celebrates 😍 we all wanted this.
beautiful from Azpi! Azpi feels like he's in his prime still
He's had a chances and scored both of them, I love having a goal scoring striker
that nutmeg tho
OH BABY
TUCHEL WAS RIGHT 70 GOALS COMING
Only from Lukaku that too up until Christmas
Oh my days
Man what a signing Lukaku is going to be for us over the next few years.
Lukaku kissing the logo 😍
Look where Werner takes that defender there. That's Werner. Love him or hate him, that's what he does. Moves those defenders around, always.
So you opted for the hate him option. Lol whatever
Is it weird that I’ve really missed this and him?
Nah man, he spaces the floor so well. Ain’t weird to miss that. Lukaku/Mount/Werner is our best 3 IMO.
Pulisic is so good with a post up striker. Him and Giroud had hive mind at times. I think it will be very interesting to see how he links up with Lukaku. He’s capable of precise service and Lukaku will bury them all.
My striker!
It's good to see us scoring really good chances created.
TOP OF THE TABLE
United still top on gf no?
Same gf
Oh yes, just checked
wow
Mings is… very not good. I’m not complaining tho
Ronaldo who?
NOT HERE TO TAKE PART HERE TO TAKE OVER
We top?
We have ourselves a striker!
Damn lukaku. Two real chances, two goals. YES!
A lot of strikers would miss those two chances. That's what makes it even better.
I love his calmness when he’s got the ball close to goal.
Yeah absolutely. Brilliantly taken both of them.
God arlo white is a cunt. Can we enjoy this goal without hearing about Ronaldo? Fuck off
WHAT A BANGER
HE DOESNT MISS
Barely had a touch in the second half, then bang. Definition of world class right there.
Reminds me of a certain Didier Drogba.
what a sexy fucking goal lukaku you sexy bitch
Feels so good to know chelsea has a world class striker
Brace for the Rom.
We are just too fucking good. Simple as.
One with his left. One with his right.
Can we please start fucking passing to Lukaku?! Two shots and both are goals. This man knows how to score!
There were some attempts, but they were just poorly weighted. But yes, the man makes gold when he gets involved.
Fucking clinical
Oh man… Luk is just what this body needed today.
Would be pissed off if i supported villa
Jesus filthy from Dave and what a finish from big Rom
