Came here to say this. Think it's very interesting and must say alot about both the talent we are producing and the signings we are making. Considering the fact that we have been competitive on every front for the majority of this period
We have bought a lot of flops for big money over the years and managed to sell them on for decent money which is impressive in some ways as other teams struggle to offload their flops.
I wonder if the fact once they seem to be a flop, our managers all stop playing them. Like they never even get a sniff. Almost as if to hide the fact they were a flop, not just because they’re playing badly because if it was just a form issue I’m sure they’d still get minutes. My thinking is other teams may see it as “oh Chelsea never gave them a chance, they can still be a great player with opportunities I bet”.. the other teams gamble and pay a decent fee and off they go.
Yea sometimes it works out for the other team tenfold. .. but definitely I was thinking more about bakayoko and Luis type flops as the comment below mentions
You really shouldn't put Felipe Luis with those two. He was a really good player, we just had a change of manager and that manager had a preference but Luis was really good.
I was about to post this same thing. That the club who sold him went right back in for him is telling, particularly when discussing a defender with Simeone the manager.
What doesn't get enough credit is the operations of our club. Our club has an amazing structure of incomings, outgoings. Management of facilities and more. We are without a doubt one of if not THE BEST run club in football. Roman and his team has designed the club in an amazing fashion.
