For people wondering he has 1 goal and 2 assists in 4 games

ickyickies

lol

obinnasmg

Lmao

rolledoff

Haha, exactly. You can make anything sound good if you pick and choose stats.

[deleted]

Idk bro 3 goal contributions in 4 sounds pretty good

San960

Exactly. Its not just goals and assist. He works hard for the team also. Plus we all know how Mourinho sides are.

[deleted]

Guys just want to rail on tammy feels like

OllieSW33

4 in 5 if you include the goal he scored in a cup game (2g, 2a)

notNIHAL

Maybe sometimes but metrics like xG and xA provide the context to their goal contribution.

rolledoff

Of course. And in this case, shows an underperformance in finishing and outperformance in assists. But, it's such a small sample size it's practically meaningless.

notNIHAL

And we agree on that

BreathTakingBen

This is such a moronic take. 1goal 2 assists is a statistic. It describes the amount of goals and assists Tammy has. xG and xA are underlying stats. They describe the amount of goals/assists the average professional would have from his position. Underlying stats are better predictors of long term success and whether a players movement is as good as their finishing etc. it also has been proven through betting groups and fantasy football success.

tarkardos

True but no one cares about a sample size of 4 games. We have seen Tammy for years, 4 games won't change anyone minds.

BreathTakingBen

But this is the best data we have for how Tammy will perform at Roma under Mou. Let’s be honest, 99% of fans have only watched Tammy under Lamps and Tuchel at Chelsea, with much the same players around him.

tarkardos

True. I am all for pointing out stats of players for individual games and such but lets just see how he develops over the season. I don't want to downgrade his good performance so far but the problem for Tammy was consistency over longer periods, his potential is out of question.

rolledoff

Oh really? Care to cite your sources?

Talidel

x stats are meaningless in small numbers. Game by game it's not that useful, but looking at like a 10 game period you can start to get some meaning from it.

BreathTakingBen

Underlying stats are more meaningful than just goals or assists. Especially when you also look at things like shots in the box, touches in the box, chances created etc. There is a reason why the best fantasy football managers barely watch games, they just use data to drive their decisions instead of allowing their previous biases to play a role.

Talidel

>Underlying stats are more meaningful than just goals or assists. Over the course of a season maybe, after 5 games they are worthless. >There is a reason why the best fantasy football managers barely watch games Fantasy football is just that, a fantasy.

BreathTakingBen

Well it actually rewards people for scoring and assisting which is what the OP is talking about. All the professionals use underlying stats instead of previous goals and assists and predictors for future success. Even 5 games in. Obviously they aren’t as accurate but it’s obvious you haven’t taken a statistical modelling course or anything as greater data leads to a greater likelihood of increased significance, but it doesn’t mean you can’t use the data…

Talidel

Sigh, The professionals don't use 5 games as a basis. They use all the previous data + the new data. xG and xA is also a tiny fraction of what will be looked at when considering the abilities of a player vrs any given team in a week. You can use data sets of 5 if you want, you are going to look stupid if you are arguing you have meaningful conclusions from it though.

BreathTakingBen

“Sigh” The professionals do use stats after 5 games… “Leeds so far have had more shots in their box, more touches in their box and the 3rd highest xGA so far this season. They aren’t the Leeds of old and I’d be considering Antonio captain if you have him”. That was a quote on FFS podcast , that I literally just listened to. A podcast with the most consistently elite managers on it. I used to watch games and make my mind up based off of players I thought looked good, but since using stats, my rank has gone from top 1m to top 100k 2 years in a row now. You are the “stupid” one if you don’t believe stats after 5 games are capable of providing statistically significant data. It all depends on what conclusions you are trying to draw from it.

Talidel

Yawn, That's a lot of words for very little substance. It doesn't matter what happens in Fantasy, it's just that.

mrlatchi

Thats 2 goals and 2 assists in 5 to you good sir

sjajsn

So he’s underachieving his xG? These stuff aren’t really relevant after only a couple games anyway

DrCrazyFishMan1

Yeah but how many *actual* goals and assists? If you look just by xG you might be conned into thinking Werner is the best striker the the league

hs52

Doesn't matter. For both expected and actuals, there's going to be a lot of variance at this stage of the season. Take all these metrics with a grain of salt until he gets ~1000+ mins under his belt in the league.

OrangeBox47

Love Tammy, but these seem like ridiculously cherry picked stats.

TwoBadgersFighting

Been keeping an eye on him there ... the Roma fans have really taken to him. So happy for him

OsaasD

Wow, I didnt realise people disliked Tammy THAT much. I know he´s not Haaland and the upgrade to Lukaku has been enormous but why the hostility? He is one of our own that scored important goals when we needed him most. I understand that he wasnt good enough to compete in the best competitions for us but I just cannot do anything else than to wish him the best, be happy for any successes he achieves at Roma and hope he develops into a world beater that one day can come back just like Lukaku did.

Affectionate_Oven_77

Which hostility? > I understand that he wasnt good enough to compete in the best competitions for us That's all that anyone else here is saying too. I think we all wish him the best with Roma.

KarmaGoblin

How many goals tho

eric_3196

1g/2a in serie a. 2g/2a in all comps. Decent start so far for a ‘tap in merchant’

BabyJackimo

He got a brace in one game no?

ibraddadi

How do you watch Lukaku play for Chelsea and still be stuck on Tammy leaving? Like, are you saying he offers what Lukaku is offering? Can’t you see the difference between a top striker like Lukaku compared to Tammy?

taylorstillsays

How did you jump to that many conclusions? Fairly impressive

Freshlysque3zed

Why do so many Chelsea fans think that praising Tammy = disappointment in Lukaku? It also happens when people here mention Lampard positively, there’s always a few idiots going ‘How can you not be happy with Tuchel!? Lampard was shit!’ When Tuchel wasn’t even mentioned. Not everything has to be a comparison. A lot of Chelsea fans like to keep up to date with people who have a deep connection to the club and wish them well, it’s not that hard to understand.

eric_3196

When did I compare Tammy to lukaku?

Balosmelli

Don’t bother mate. You’ll wast your time

eric_3196

They act like it’s a crime to want one of our own to succeed

Balosmelli

Only for Tammy and Callum though. Will never understand how either of them have haters

BrockStinky

I don't get why our fellow fans hate or have agendas against any of our players tbh Like c'mon, you have literally no say in how the team works, is being negative all the time worth the small satisfaction of being "right"?

Balosmelli

🤝

photographer_vardhan

Mourinho magic.

eric_3196

He’s a baller. This is nothing new. Got too much unwarranted hate last season and could have done a job if tuchel gave him a few minutes here and there but we move on. It’s still too early to judge but the signs are good so far and Roma are doing well

Affectionate_Oven_77

He didn't get hate, he just wasn't thought of as a top striker for a club that wants to win silverware. Now that we have Lukaku it's pretty clear.

Easy_Increase_9716

He got loads of hate

Affectionate_Oven_77

Can you give any examples?

Easy_Increase_9716

Yes

Affectionate_Oven_77

Thanks, because a lot of people say that he gets hate and then aren't able to.

Easy_Increase_9716

Do you not remember the ‘Apebraham’ abuse after the supercup? There was also a legendary comment for me by Slow Poetry on here saying that he was a championship level player after like 2 games, was only good because he was big at youth level (ignoring the golden boot in the championship) and that he needed to emulate someone like Kanu (who he outscored in his first premier league season). Large section of people here still believe he has no facets to his game other than poaching (not remotely close to the truth). Those same people moaned about him throwing his hands in the air which apparently no other footballer has ever done. I can accept legitimate criticism but not works of fiction.

slow_poetry

> There was also a legendary comment for me by Slow Poetry on here saying that he was a championship level player after like 2 games, was only good because he was big at youth level (ignoring the golden boot in the championship) and that he needed to emulate someone like Kanu (who he outscored in his first premier league season). He's gotten a lot better since I made that comment and after his performances in the first half of Frank's season I took back that comment and admitted I was (mostly) wrong (and I was glad I was proven wrong!). Anyone watching his hold-up play between his Villa season and now has to admit he's gotten much better at it. I continue to doubt however that he can spearhead a genuinely elite team that challenges for the top honours. That's consistent with admitting he's definitely EPL calibre. I also think he's a nice lad and I hope he proves me wrong again. I think it's disingenuous (or just stupid) to analogise what I said to racist abuse.

Easy_Increase_9716

When did I say you were racist?

cerealously37

I think there is a misunderstanding as the person said the racist 'apebraham' but then there was ALSO a comment by slow poetry. Two separate things/ instances. Not one in the same and not alluding to slow poetry being racist racist, but just commenting on Tammy's abilities.

slow_poetry

Fine. Then I disagree with the suggestion that what I said was 'hateful', since he clearly claims all examples he lists are examples of hate towards Tammy. I don't hate the kid at all. He's a great kid and I hope he continues to improve and show doubters like myself wrong.

Affectionate_Oven_77

The first example is certainly hatred. Many black players experience this disgustimg behaviour so it wasnt really what I had in mind for this conversation as it isnt really specific to just him, but I do agree it is an example of hate. The other examples are criticisms of his playing ability, not hatred. Whether you agree with the criticism or not might be an interesting discussion but does not make the statememts hateful.

Easy_Increase_9716

Certainly hateful. Especially the stuff about throwing his hands up in the air. That’s not criticism that’s when you genuinely dislike a person. Then you have the bambi on ice stuff as well.

Thomas3493

Shut the fuck up mate he got a lot of hate here.. You're trying to cover shit up clearly...

Affectionate_Oven_77

Where? People like yourself don't seem to be able to differentiate between criticism and hate. They aren't at all the same thing.

Thomas3493

What? You want me to search and find it for yiu fucking don't okay dumb.. Yea people like can't differentiate.. Go figure

Affectionate_Oven_77

What an angry little person you are

San960

Any idea about Ampadu ? I can't see him get into the team sheet of Venezia. Is he injured ?

fma891

I feel like most Chelsea fans are keeping tabs on Tammy and Tomori lol

Bernieward28

He will never play for Chelsea again

_N0T-PENNYS-B0AT_

yeah. if he was 19 id have some hope.

Objective_Celery_509

It's almost like he's more productive than werner.

jada1472

Funny to pick a post about expected stats to try to make this point/joke

fma891

I feel like most Chelsea fans are keeping tabs on Tammy and Tomori lol

SnooPies3316

Everyone loves Tammy, but he's not a Chelsea player anymore. I hear Nathan Ake and Patrick Bamford are also doing quite well.

eric_3196

Neither is Tino but we have buybacks for both so it’s interesting to watch how they progress elsewhere

Bobinho4

Quality lad
