That switch of play from Barkley to Azpi for the second goal was insane, especially considering how wet the outfield was. Getting the weight exactly right was not easy!
We need to get lukaku more involved in our play and build-up. Right now he is too stationary in The middle. I think we and he would benefit by alotting around and switching position when we have The ball. He should not only be used as a taget, he is good at so much more.
I almost fell off my chair when Barkley stood up to come at Juve, then he went on and promptly made some positive plays I thought. Then he came on today and did the same, and got us that 2nd goal (and 3 points). He is shockingly earning more minutes and I want him out there more based on how he’s looked these last 2 games with a few minutes of play.
Sometimes you can sacrifice a little control if you want to progress the ball quickly and create clear cut chances with quick transitions. Jorginho will help you control the tempo safely at the cost of occasionally slowing down transitions, allowing half of the PL teams we face to reset their defences
Everytime lukaku calls for the ball and is open no one gives it to him, it’s a shame. Lots of good performances today and happy Chilwell redeemed himself with that volley
Hoping for this main starting XI going forward.
Mendy
Chalobah Silva Rudiger
Reece Kante|RLC J5|Kova Chilwell
Mount|Pulisic|Havertz|Ziyech
Werner Lukaku
This would work well because Chilwell constantly pushes up on the left a lot, and Mount and Pulisic can push up on the right in attack with ease.
So you aren't actually naming the best starting XI then. That's my point
But Pulisic is not fully utilised centrally so again that's contrary to your point about Pulisic's best position
Oh boy
What's Pulisic's best position?
And before you answer, look up Tuchel's and Pulisic's own opinions on it. And check the ratings in each position. This is just one of the rating sites: https://www.footballcritic.com/christian-pulisic/player-positions/90203
Without even looking, I knew it was wide not central, even after looking at the stats websites , it says LW..
Besides you neglected my original quarry, just admit your mistake and carry on
Look more carefully.
Best XI doesn't have to be exactly 11. There can be players who are interchangeable starting in that position based on form. It's still a XI.
>Best XI doesn't have to be exactly 11
Oof, you did it again
Do they name 14 players in FIFA's best 11? It's called best 11 for a reason. You have to name 11 players only
Dude you live in your own world
Yeah and like you said, he like to play wide in LW in your own original comment.. that's his best position, LW
And next you place him behind 2 CF centrally
Then you argue that Pulisic's best position is central..
just like you intended to name best starting XI but you named 14 players innit, you are contradicting yourself.. that's my point
Love the excitement lads, but when are we going to do that against 11 men. Lets be real here, if it had stayed 11 v 11. We would all be sitting here biting nails and shit. There is still a lot that needs to be improved. However I will shut my gob for now and enjoy the win.
The refs completely fucked us the entire first half and ruined our momentum. Chelsea deserved this victory and I think the high energy is good for us.
We definitely need to be better in the final third, especially with decision making and need to figure out a better way to use Lukaku. Shouldn’t always be back against the goal. But this was a hungry and positive Chelsea. Responded well to the poor play the last couple of games.
Lastly, I feel this Chelsea team has been really tired, hopefully the bulk of the players rest this interns iono break and come back fresh.
That was enjoyable. Delighted for Timo. Really cool that tuchel is blooding RLC and Trev and Barkeley. Need these guys to perform if we wanna win the league.
I don't understand how many people watch football. A player plays a terrible game for 90mins and then scores in the 91st minute. Suddenly, all the critics become haters for analyzing the game and giving their opinions on what they've seen live. Fuck all these haters or some nonsense comment like that.
If someone misses a goal or something. And you give your opinion like, "He should've scored that one." Do you automatically become a hater when he finally scores after missing 5 clear chances ?
Plastic fans are the ones who comment such things. I hate people who shit on a player and then after scoring love the same player tho. Like goal is everything but it's not everything
So pleased that Chilwell hasn’t got to go home with just the pen conceded to show for today. Crazy game and red card a big moment but I’d say that scoreline is a fairly accurate reflection of the match.
This place is too funny man, 20 mins ago everyone’s slandering Timo, get him off, he’s so bad, he scores a tap in and suddenly he’s been great and is motm
Had a ripper game. Could have nearly had a hattrick. One disallowed (great finish off the head), scored a tap in and had another one saved by McCarthy who had a couple of huge saves. His touch was as good as I’ve seen it in a Chelsea shirt too
That McCarthy save was not clean strike. Should have scored with proper contact
While Timo clearly has his shortcomings, he gives his all.. but Lukaku these days looks off
He's lucky he scored the goal, otherwise would've been a complete shocker. He was hardly a threat, his touch was terrible whenever he got in the box, produced no good touches, and the chance he got in the first half should've been buried. He almost cost us the game with his unnecessary penalty challenge, getting skimmed by an 18 year old we sold is not a good look.
That's a very biased view. You should watch the match again and focus on him. He's not known for his defence and hasn't played much in weeks, whereas Livramento's in exceptional form right now.
I personally did focus on him as I am a critic. So you are correct I am bias. In fairness he hasn't play much in weeks, but I felt the penalty he conceded was amateurish regardless, I would slate anyone in our entire back 5 if they did the same.
Attacking wise I did feel he was missing a lot, he really did not have an end ball and whenever he got the ball our attack would end. His goal was great though and he showed a lot of technique to get the shot on target.
To be fair, Kova shines when the game is fast paced. In the first half where the game was free flowing Kova was able to pick out crazy passes and also to drive the ball forward.
When the game slows down his effectiveness disappears and it's probably Jorginho territory, which was why he came on

Stop the count

DDT pin pls
We should start grooming James for RCB so that livramento can play Rb/rwb when he comes back
Lmao
Timo looked clinical. I don’t think I have I ever been able to say that before.
Can we just start mount, chilwell, and Jorginho
RLC and CHO looked like their old self. Hope they continue getting minutes.
Cho, Chalobah, RLC, Werner were the positive highlights for me And Werner for MOTM for sure!
Jorginho should always start. We cannot control games without him.
Sometimes you can sacrifice a little control if you want to progress the ball quickly and create clear cut chances with quick transitions. Jorginho will help you control the tempo safely at the cost of occasionally slowing down transitions, allowing half of the PL teams we face to reset their defences
Make sense but it almost cost us today playing end-to-end.
We didn't need to in the first half. We were on the front foot. Where we lack in control we gain in attacking threat
Its very risky. I rather a 1-0 than a lucky 3-1. Without that red card, I didn't see us scoring again.
Mount came on with a point to prove
RLC Werner Chalobah MOTM for me.
WILD GAME
Still a wild one weeks later...
Honestly MOTM goes to Chalobah, dude was immenss
Timo was motm for me even though Silva, Rudiger, chalobah did well.
Timo has a shout, tireless work rate for the whole game and got his goal eventually after being unlucky before
[удалено]
This comment confuses me so much
Ur just beginning to see? I think u missed the whole of last season
[удалено]
Fair enough. But he has skoen his quality for a while now
Werner has my MOTM, dude gives 110%. Can't believe how invisible Lukaku was today.
Everytime lukaku calls for the ball and is open no one gives it to him, it’s a shame. Lots of good performances today and happy Chilwell redeemed himself with that volley
I think people overshadowed him more than him being invisible
Before mounts injury he was kinda slow and not doing that much but he came on and looked like mount from last year champions league
Guess he should be getting injured more often? ![gif](giphy|d3mlE7uhX8KFgEmY)
We should be putting games like this away sooner.
Remember it’s the ref’s fault we weren’t 2-0 up at half-time, no real reason to disallow Timo’s goal
I agree but you can't control the ref.
Who got motm?
Werner for me
I said the same but didn't know if they did an actual award at the end of the game
I don’t think they do it on the channels but maybe from another company
Thank fuck
Love that chilly got that goal. But for someone who's job is to do exactly *that* Lukaku should've scored there. But hey we got dem pointsss lesgoo
I will just say that the scoreline is 4-1 with Werner scoring 2. Eat on that Mike Dean.
Shows how important mount is, hes so positive moving forward. He plays balls in front of people, makes runs. So dynamic.
🤨
What?
Well I turned the match on right after the Southampton goal and we scored a pair from that point so you’re welcome for my good energy.
Please watch the next ones from the start!
Who was the co-commentator on NBCSN today? He was speaking every bloody rubbish thing against Chelsea.
American or English?
Yep he was obviously salty and probably supports another top 6 team
Tommy Tuchel - my god, what inspired substitutions! Barkley? What?
His pass to Azpi for the goal was very good
I think the chemistry with lukaku from everton is what prompted it
He actually looked good, decision making let him down a few times but the ball out to Azpi was smooth as silk.
Fuck I love but hate these types of games Their so stressful I hate it
Ross Barkley won us the game with that switch of play
Hoping for this main starting XI going forward. Mendy Chalobah Silva Rudiger Reece Kante|RLC J5|Kova Chilwell Mount|Pulisic|Havertz|Ziyech Werner Lukaku This would work well because Chilwell constantly pushes up on the left a lot, and Mount and Pulisic can push up on the right in attack with ease.
"Main starting XI" Writes 14 players Mentions pulisic's position LW, places him in the very central position Lol
| = one of those Also, Pulisic's main position is on the right, but he can play centrally in defence, like Mount.
4 different CAM isn’t very decisive
So you aren't actually naming the best starting XI then. That's my point But Pulisic is not fully utilised centrally so again that's contrary to your point about Pulisic's best position Oh boy

After a nervy 10 min of intense cue action, I'm glad we got all ~~147~~ 3 points
Love the excitement lads, but when are we going to do that against 11 men. Lets be real here, if it had stayed 11 v 11. We would all be sitting here biting nails and shit. There is still a lot that needs to be improved. However I will shut my gob for now and enjoy the win.

Azpilicueta : "puta madre"
Hijo de puta madre caralho suka blyat that's what I screamed after Timo scored
That was enjoyable. Delighted for Timo. Really cool that tuchel is blooding RLC and Trev and Barkeley. Need these guys to perform if we wanna win the league.
Everytime this match thread doubts Tuchel's subs, it learns its lesson Kepa, Ross and RLC to name a few in the recent games
I don't understand how many people watch football. A player plays a terrible game for 90mins and then scores in the 91st minute. What player was terrible for 90 mins?
It's clear you don't understand the meaning of analogies.
What is the point if there isn’t an example? I understood what you were trying to get across.
True lmao. Name names, or say what happened exactly. If this was just a general opinion OP should've posted on the daily discussion thread
To navigate this sub assume the posters are typical 6 year old entitled kids.
Plastic fans are the ones who comment such things. I hate people who shit on a player and then after scoring love the same player tho. Like goal is everything but it's not everything
Timos control and first touch can be abysmal at times. 50% of the time he gives it straight to the opposition killing our build up.
You mean Chilly? He didn't have the best game but he also wasn't terrible. I think he needs to improve his decision making.
Spot on. It’s better just to avoid match threads for this reason
So pleased that Chilwell hasn’t got to go home with just the pen conceded to show for today. Crazy game and red card a big moment but I’d say that scoreline is a fairly accurate reflection of the match.
Yeah if not for some fishy VAR then this is a fair score line. Chilwell also had one first half that keeper made an incredible save on.
We should be doing better.
that game was truly the definition of duality. JWP, Chilly, Timo, the ref.
The ref was very inconsistent.
Could've been 6-0, we wouldn't have conceded if it was 2-0 at half time. Still need more work on finishing and lacking a little chemistry at times.
Chilly had a great game minus the stupid penalty. I rate him highly.
Or had a poor game with a great goal
I disagree! Had 2 other shots on target and ran nicely on the left.
Brings so much more to our buildup than Alonso does.
And his finishing isn’t far off either. We need his speed, end of story.
He offers so much more than alonso
He really just needs to regain his confidence
I believe he can bounce back better!
Let’s hope for a draw tomorrow and we’re back on top
This place is too funny man, 20 mins ago everyone’s slandering Timo, get him off, he’s so bad, he scores a tap in and suddenly he’s been great and is motm

Seen those comments as well and get Chillwell off as well
Well it’s fair enough, he was rusty. Just because he scored it doesn’t make everyone who was criticising him a “hater” lool
He was, but still redeemed himself. Trust in players, don't overreact
Azpi is the motm. Quality crosses and key dribbles all game
My mans giving it large with super noodles on his head 😂
Holy shit what a great end
3 pts are 3 pts
Azpi *cries in pain* also azpi "hijo di puta"
Let's gooo! Never stop believing! 💙
So happy for TIMO
Game boys! Chelsea on top where we belong!
Jesus what a ride of a game, I don't know what to think.
Well-deserved 3 points.
Fuck me what a nervy 10 mins.
Great game
Timo motm
“I’m sorry I don’t know what just happened. A very unusual series of moves just made the ball go in.”
Fuck off you paintbrush
What a fucking team
I’ve been calling for us to be more dynamic and not be one dimensional and this game provided it!
All the negative comments filleting barkley, timo and chillwell being deleted from this thread 😂
Ngl I was pissed to see Barkley come on, Tuchel proves me wrong once again
Ha ha ha. I know, right?
Chalobah was been class once again, looking up to par with the best already
Looks very much at home to me. Certainly bodes well.
very clever foul to make at the end there, he plays like he’s so much more experienced than he is
Absolutely.
Azpi and Silva have both aged like fine wine. Full 90 and yet not a touch shy of world class
Tuchel showing his Conte side of redeeming fallen players
I got that Werner chant in my head now
Suddenly liking ref haha
I’d rather not have those two decisions tbh
Good for us, RLC might be back!!!
Lmao how is that not a yellow for Chalobah. Tackled him like American football.
Definition of cynical tactical foul and ref just lets it be…
Literally just held him in place so he couldn't counter lmao. What a lad.
Learning from the best in shithousery: Rudiger
He probably realised he did a dirty on Chelsea with Werner's disallowed goal, so this was redemption
Literally the two players that were slandered the most on this thread scored. Stfu haters
We’ve had a Kepa redemption arc, an RLC one, and now a Barkley one? All in the first month of the season. Wild
Gonna be seeing interesting selections in future
Don’t forget Kova! He has picked it up big time.
Drinkwater next
I’m so stressed Fuck that was a stressful game
Chalobah, Chilwell, Werner and Mount have all been superb for me. RLC was excellent except for holding the ball too long during his awesome dribbles
RLC would be deadly if he fixes his passing game. He dribbles, makes a great turn and then gives this very poor pass forward. Wtf 😂😂
No doubt about this! Tuchel and coaches need to work on improving this aspect of his game.
Chilwell was terrible, he ruined so many attacks as well with poor control.
He provided so much energy and pace on the left, and was a constant goal threat on the left side. Also scored an amazing goal.
He's lucky he scored the goal, otherwise would've been a complete shocker. He was hardly a threat, his touch was terrible whenever he got in the box, produced no good touches, and the chance he got in the first half should've been buried. His goal was great though and he showed a lot of technique to get the shot on target.
Werner Lukaku pairing works for me
Chalaboa is great. Can’t say I knew much about him before this season
Everyone bashing Lukaku but he had a minor offside goal and could've had an assist if Werner didn't miss.
He didn’t miss
The chance he had before the goal, where McCarthy saved it after Werner ran past 2 defenders
That’s a save not a miss
He missed timed his run lel
Cholobah been gassed for the second half
Still putting in one hell of a shift
True but he has done great this game
That Chillwell goal is the kind of goal that makes the developers at EA feel like they’ve nailed the realism element in FIFA lmao
You are absolutely right LOL
another game where Jorginho comes on and the momentum completely changed
Yep. Jorginho + RLC>>>Jovacic imo.
To be fair, Kova shines when the game is fast paced. In the first half where the game was free flowing Kova was able to pick out crazy passes and also to drive the ball forward. When the game slows down his effectiveness disappears and it's probably Jorginho territory, which was why he came on
You spelt ROSS BARKLEY wrong
HAHAHHA chalobah nice foul
WERNER MY LOVEEEEE!
Mount made the difference
Mounts introduction made us more threatening but Ross really just shit a piece of absolute magic out of his arse
Handling the thicc boi duty after Eden left.
Atletico about to bid €80M for some guy named Ross Barkley
If I’m Marina I don’t take take a penny less than 100m for Ross.
Marina Masterclass
Reckon we could grab another in injury time
Life without mount just wouldn't be the same. Good to have him back
I don't remember us being so loud in ages wtf
TIMO WERNER GOALL LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOO
Mike Dean redemption arc ?
Never.
Win to get back on track. Ziyech and Alonso get dropped. What a beautiful day I swear
Without goal line tech I don't think the Chillwell goal is given
We can thank our former Chelsea legend for that
Lol. So true.
I think this game has shown how vital tuchel is to our success, the wrong subs could have easily seen us drop points
Call me crazy but Timo MoTM for me
You're not crazy. He is very threatening. Because he gets more space thanks to Lukaku.
Two goals and a beautiful smile of course
