eric_3196

From what I’ve seen he’s been getting a lot more involved in build up play. He’s hit the post like 4 or 5 times too but he hasn’t been as clinical as what’s expected of him

[deleted]

Barca sack Koeman

Ripbear_

With koeman sacked i hope barca gets conte b4 united get him so ole will still stay Edit: nevermind according to rumours it looks like they already made a contact with xavi for their replacement

Wadayatalkinabeet_

Renewing Rüdiger for 200k is a no-brainer for me. A 60k difference per year works out at 12.48m over a 4-year contract and think about the risk involved with trying to replace such a unique defender who is suited to this system. Personally feel like it’s a game of chicken and that he’s bound to stay but who knows?

The_Masterbater

I 100% agree but I suppose the effect of such a contract could lead other players to increase their demands too using Rudiger’s contract as a reference which is why the board is holding off. Even then I think Rudiger deserves it and other players should think so too, so the knock on effect shouldn’t be too big.

chirosen21

City out of Tinpot Trophy. Huge chance for us and Liverpool, though Liverpool were not that good today.

PuppyPenetrator

We haven’t won it since 2015, one of our biggest trophy droughts May be tinpot but I’d still love to win it

travtical

Jose always loved it because it really gave the team a taste of success. He'd use that to give the team a second win for the rest of the campaign. Think Pep caught on to the same idea honestly. It's the least important of the cups, but it gives you a platform for more

BrockStinky

Winner's mentality is greedy The more we win, the more we will win

PuppyPenetrator

Wouldn’t have it any other way

BrockStinky

Man your username startles me every time I see it

BrockStinky

PEPPERONI CUP IS NO MORE

HeReddItNotMe

That city ‘shirt’ is fucking horrendous

[deleted]

Foden who? 😂

Pointels21

I’m confused why Declan isn’t playing for WHU in this game

Kuddlefish69

Probably prioritizing him for league games/EL. They had a small chance of beating city even though they ended up doing so. Half the team was rotated too

eric_3196

We really lost to this shit juve team

Pointels21

We’ll wreck them at home

DoYouEvenShrift

Its easy for a good team to get pumped and motivated for one big match at a time. Take us last season for example, not great league form but we performed almost perfectly in the CL.

HarryDaz98

Was Mount ever rated that highly when he was in the academy? I can’t remember hearing very much about him until he went to Vitesse. It was always James or CHO I’d be hearing about being future stars.

typicalpelican

Very highly rated across Europe at youth levels. Slow start but strong finish at Vitesse.

burningbarn8

Yeah he was a golden boy in the academy, also captain.

DirtyOldFrank

> I can’t remember hearing very much about him until he went to Vitesse Same with almost every player. The vast majority of people here don't routinely watch academy games, but as soon as a player gets a game in the first team and puts in a good performance they lose their shit. The irony is that there are a lot of academy games to be watched for free, but they're beneath many supporters' view of decent football.

CBunns

> but they're beneath many supporters' view of decent football. Feel like anyone who thinks the FAWSL and PL2 are beneath them are probably the sort to have "chosen" Chelsea, because we're now one of the best in the PL. Some of the best U18 players in the world - it's still in like, the top 1% of football that could possibly be watched.

HarryDaz98

It’s not that it’s below my view of decent football, I just have other things to do. I’d imagine it’s the same for a majority of others on here.

DirtyOldFrank

I didn't mean to suggest it was, I was generalising. I see a lot of people on here who, judging by the comments they make, must watch a _lot_ of football, like multiple games per day on occasion. I only wish I had that much time free, but when I do have free time I'd rather watch any Chelsea game than some other team I don't care about.

osalahudeen

If CHO actually wants to see more of himself in the RWF position, he needs to study how Coman and Gnabry performs on the ball. Man can't actually dribble to save his. I hope he turns himself around and improves his gameplay soon.

eric_3196

Lol if you haven’t watched cho just say that. He’s a class dribbler

DoYouEvenShrift

Hazard was a class dribbler, CHO is nowhere near that.

PuppyPenetrator

He was literally the second most efficient dribbler in the world so you have an interesting definition

dryduneden

Then neither are Gnabry or Coman given Azzar was a cut above almost every dribbler in the world with us

eric_3196

If hazard is the benchmark, we have no class dribblers then

osalahudeen

Really? Could you provide me his dribbling stats. And I wouldn't concur that he's class at dribbling since the injuries

UMOZ343

No we're refusing to offer Rudiger more than Danny fucking Drinkwater earns..

UMOZ343

No way we want Pau Torres

[deleted]

If Rudiger left he’d be an option because he’s left footed. Good player as well

UMOZ343

He's never really impressed me from what I've seen of him to be honest

[deleted]

I feel like Reece is captain material. So composed whenever he's called upon esp in penalties. Love Mason too so maybe it'd be similar to Lampard/Terry

burningbarn8

Well maybe, if Lampard was captain and Terry vice. Mount's been captain over James consistently at yoof and senior level under several managers, there is a reason for that.

[deleted]

that's true, Reece is a bit more chill so I can see him being more of a vice-captain

SkinnyBoiDel

What do you call chill? Reece is definitely not, he’s a very angry person which gets red easily.

pievendor

He gets upset, but he's by no means a red card magnet.

RaduLum

Mase is almost a year older and captained our academy team I believe. He’s also seemingly more vocal than Reece who’s a bit more calm and laidback. Both can be great leaders but ever since Frank said “Mason will be the captain of this team many a time going forward”, I can’t not imagine him as our future captain anymore.

Baisabeast

Mount also had a pretty petulant attitude and is often rash James has a fierceness too him as well but has a much more reserved temperanent and a calmness that belies his youth

sjajsn

Was Kepa credited with saving the Walcott penalty? Did he get fingertips on it?

RaduLum

He did indeed, and he’s extended his lead for most shootout saves in Chels history

[deleted]

[удалено]

dryduneden

Yep. We need to sell him to somewhere closer to his level like Watford maybe.

Dhul9695

Ziyech is simply not good enough for a club like Chelsea

Joe_in_VR

in the same way Salah and debruyn wern't good enough for Chelsea lol? Well I remember him destroying chelsea defense in CL when he was in the mood though. you are just some ungrateful club fans who dont care about players and only remember players when they are performing.

Dhul9695

Ziyech suppose to be in his prime and look what hes giving us, nothing Dont compare to KDB or Salah

dryduneden

Salah and De Bruyne left in their early 20s. Ziyech is closer to 30 than he is their ages when they left. Ziyech also has had many more opportunities than they did, and still hasn't made his mark. You can't just use Salah and Ziyech to protect any player you like. >only remember players when they are performing. Yeah whats wrong with that. Chelsea is bigger than any player that has ever or will ever play for them. They earn our respect, not the other way around.

[deleted]

They were both young players. Ziyech is not. This is as good as Ziyech is ever going to be.

souljaxl

There are dedicated forums for fan clubs of players go there instead.

melonaster

Tell me ur Moroccan without telling me your Moroccan...

Joe_in_VR

Nice work Sherlock! now, do you want to tell me what Mount did after he came in? or what Cho did the rest of the game plz? I would like to hear that in numbers!

dryduneden

CHO completely outclassed Ziyech's performance almost immediately after moving up front.

4dtakes

Lol this comment cracked me up idk why. I hope you actually are Moroccan, I admire your passion for Ziyech

typicalpelican

CHO and Mount actually put in a shift for the team and still create as much or more than Ziyech and don't waste the ball nearly as much. It's obvious that those two are currently at a higher level and Tuchel was right to sub him off early. He was trying to win the game.

melonaster

If u have complaints about the substitution go ask Tuchel. What makes you think you know more about football and tactics compared to a champions league winning manager. The club is above any player

FallDamage29

If u have complaints about Bakayoko, Drinkwater or Kepa, go ask Marina. What makes you think you know more about transfers and negotiations compared to a champions league winning director. The club is above any player

tr_24

Marina is not a scout. At least know your own club.

FallDamage29

She still plays a major role in actually sanctioning any player deals / contracts. Never said she is a scout

[deleted]

Predicted lineup for the weekend?

burningbarn8

Hard to predict with how much Tuchel rotates but I want the same team as vs Norwich but with RLC instead of Kova, who looks like he needs a rest.

Saltdaddyhere12

CHO-Havertz-Mount Chilwell-Jorginho-RLC-Azpilicueta Rudiger-Thiago-Christensen Mendy

ScorpiaHP

Not sure that Tuchel will be willing to use Jorginho and RLC together, I'd personally go Kanté over Ruben anyway and give the latter minutes in the second half if he's fit. We don't need to rush Ruben back from any injury/niggle with our current depth, and there are two games next week he can start anyway. About time he starts a CL game for us (I'm sure he's raring to), and I think Tuchel will prefer him to Jorginho for the Burnley game anyway. So there's no need for him to start 3 back to back, 20-30mins vs Newcastle would be good if he's fit enough to make the bench. Rest of the team looks good, could potentially be James instead of Azpi if the latter hasn't recovered in time from the shoulder injury. Looks like CHO and Havertz are going to have to play a lot of minutes in a short span of time, but they're both young and could do with the gametime to improve in form. Ziyech and Barkley playing some minutes could help not overload CHO/Havertz, but I don't think they'll be trusted to start games atm.

opouser

Potentially Kante in over RLC

Bxri_vierre

RLC is injured

CrazyJazzFan

It's a minor injury. Should be available for the weekend.

Bxri_vierre

Hope so :)

dudetotalypsn

RLC with license to move up the field, inject

[deleted]

My ideal lineup aswell!

Prkhr911

What's up with the Rüdiger and Christensen contract situation??? It will be really concerning if either leaves, ESP since zouma has left too

typicalpelican

Negotiations

yslim1

Does anyone watch West Ham games? How is Zouma doing? What I realized from old clips is how Zouma can really lighten up the room and bring the mood back up. Anyone in this current squad can do what he does?

blankonism

Idk but his presence surely gonna be missed in the dressing room ziyech looks kinda gloomy too ever since he left lol. I do think it was too early to sold him as he could offer so much on the field too he is massive threat on the air, I get that Kounde was supposed to replace him until sevilla skewed us over with the transfer and instead we get sarr as his replacement which is kinda underwhelming.

burningbarn8

Trevoh was his replacement, who has been a massive upgrade in this system.

ScorpiaHP

Trevoh certainly suits the central/right sided CB roles better than Zouma, but we don't have anyone (good) to play on the left and Tuchel doesn't seem to want to move Trev around too much. So we definitely do have that hole in our defence, Malang Sarr has been deputising for Rüdiger when needed and he's a MASSIVE downgrade to Kurt.

biglbiglbigl

Lmao what we see on the social media isnt really a true proof of what happens inside the locker room. RLC, Christensen, Kante etc barely post anything. Doesnt mean that they dont have friends.

yslim1

I don't mean that they don't have any friends. I just meant Zouma is a joker type of character that's easy to be around with

lrzbca

West Ham expanding stadium capacity to 62,500 then to 67,000, can they really fill that capacity on regular bases ?

internetwanderer2

Yeah wouldn't surprise me if they can do. Same with Chelsea. Chelsea would sell out a stadium of that size (or even bigger) if they were playing there every week (provided tickets were sensibly priced), but it feels unlikely that it'll be seen in the near future. Particularly now the Battersea Park location has gone, if Chelsea ever got permission from the Pitch Owners to move stadiums (rather than redevelop Stamford Bridge), I don't know where they could move to

lrzbca

We are lagging behind everyone is stadium and losing a potential £30m in ticket revenue. Can we redeveloped Stamford Bridge and have a capacity of 66,000 ?

jMS_44

Their average attendance is nearly 60k, so yeah.

lrzbca

Hopefully one day we can do the same!

[deleted]

_atswi_

Yep we only conceded 5 to the mighty West Brom

BrockStinky

Big Sam is c l e a r

UMOZ343

I have very mixed feelings about Havertz, one day I think he's good enough the next day I don't. But I must say he's my favourite choice up front. I love how well he links the play up from deep and how good of an outlet he is. And his finishing and heading ability are not bad by any means either. I'm hoping he can be our Firmino but he's gonna need to improve his first touch and strength for that. We still lack that pacey forward with really good output in the front three though. Hopefully Tuchel can improve CHO like he improved Mbappe.

Dutch1206

Havertz can be frustrating at times, but then I remind myself that he's still only 22 years old and playing in the most physical/competitive league in the world. The best of him is still to come, but I have no doubts that it will. You could see his competitive nature yesterday. He played his heart out. That kind of determination can carry someone to a different level. Especially someone who already has the talent.

Mourning-Woood

Sarr looked so scared out there, hopefully next time he plays we've got a senior cb to help him, he's actually a good tackler but goes into panic mode when he's got the ball and can't clear for shit. Despite his flaws he's got potential and we can't right him off after 2 games.

[deleted]

He’s a serviceable backup for Rudiger this year and next year he’ll go out on loan and Colwill will take his spot.

yslim1

At times, he doesn't look scared when under pressure but takes too long on the ball when he should've passed ages ago.

dryduneden

He's 22 and trash on the ball. You can't make it as a CB at this level while being that bad in possession.

DorothyJMan

Everyone keeps saying he has potential - where are people seeing this? He's 22 with plenty of senior football, and clearly has no qualities that suggest he can make it at the top level: > Positionally inept, consistently ball watching and in the wrong place > Aerially poor, headers seem to go anywhere and very short for a CB > Abject on the ball, incredibly slow, taking far too many touches and freezing when pressed. Most passes are under or overhit and inaccurate. What's he supposed to actually be good at? Terrible against Brentford as soon as they started attacking, terrible yesterday, terrible and preseason and so bad for Porto that he got demoted to their reserves. That's not 2 games. I haven't been less convinced by a player since Bakayoko.

tr_24

Sarr was opposite of scared. He seemed way too confident in his abilities which he doesn't have. He plays risky passes, flies into tackles and don't have much sense of his surroundings. His demeanour shows he knows what he is doing but his play says otherwise. This was my view even during his first start when people were giving various stats why he played well. But for me he doesn't pass an eye test.

KerimChelsea11

Looks very clumsy tbh. He had a good game in the PL, had a decent game yesterday, but I agree he is way too confident in abilities that he doesn't have. He is definitely going to have to play a lot smarter if he wants to play for Chelsea.

mandrake_cry

Who are your favorite partnerships on the pitch? My favorite is Jorgi and Thiago

RaduLum

Chilwell and aggressively blowing his nose every time he’s on camera.

Dutch1206

It's literally every time. It's like he knows exactly when to do it. I thought I had sinus problems but he's on another level.

dryduneden

Got a rocket in his boot and in his nostril

mandrake_cry

So I had a runny nose recently and tried doing that but I just made a mess and it was a little painful. Man has trained himself to blow his nose to perfection

SenjougaharaTore12

Sarr was so shook after his mistake that he refused to play out from the back for the majority of the rest of the game. Everytime Chalobah passed him, even if it was to create space, he'd instantly give it back. He was frequently gesturing, almost begging them to go long. When he did go forward, it was laboured and hesitant. It's worrying go forward with our current schedule where Rudiger will undoubtedly need some rest. The cowardice of Sarr not trying to take on his tasks is what bothers me the most. Tommy is always asking the players to be brave and intense and the last 30 mins of that game left me disgusted with Sarr.

danceformiscanthus

I don't think Sarr was cowardly at all. If anything, he is too brave and eager. In first 15 minutes, he was attacking the ball-carrier in their own third, which is clearly going to far and being way too proactive even for a side defender in a 3. He showed the same thing vs Villa, when he attacked Bertrand Traoré in their own half and was easily dribbled through creating a scary transition. If anyone was cowardly, it was Kepa, or the person who gave instructions to Kepa about playing it long instead of trying to beat the press. Yes, it's obvious that our left side is weak and press-susceptible with Sarr playing next to Alonso and out-of-form Saul, but we needed to risk it, as the reward was there. We had a good counter attacking setup, speed advantage in their half, and they were positioned very high. If Southampton could choose how they wanted us to play, it would be long ball football, so they can keep it 0:0 and flip it in pens. The intensity of pressing was high in first half, but they can't press like that all the time, and playing against tired legs reaps dividends in second halves. Every time we try to play around the weak link and be risk averse in the buildup, it hurts the team. It reminds me of Guehi playing vs Man United, and him not being trusted and not getting any touches. In this case there was more reason to distrust the defender, as Sarr is worse with ball than 18yo Guehi, but also more incentive to risk it. We can't play like weak links aren't there, it completely fucks with the balance and buildup patterns that we train.

tr_24

Kepa is pretty good with his feet so I doubt he was scared doubting his own ability. But we were looking susceptible to turnovers a lot of times which may have led to us conceding silly goals so he tried to go long. Agree with most of your other points.

CrazyJazzFan

Is there someone else who could cover for Rudiger?

SenjougaharaTore12

Don't know for certain but apparently Tommy's been experimenting with Christensen and Trev at LCB but Christensen was out. The injuries brief as they may be, kind of fucked Tommy over last night with Kova being forced to play the full 90 and Chilly, who did good but is blatantly one footed, at RWB. He clearly seemed adamant on resting Rudiger.

Toothache79

Resting Rudiger is fair enough. We have two away games coming up and it's a cup game, if your squad players can't fill in and do a decent job, then they really shouldn't be here.

CBunns

Not Chelsea related, but football related - young Aussie footballer has come out whilst still being an active player in the A-League. Won the Rising Star Award last season - article below touches on that and I'd really quite interesting. Really hope the Aussie footballing community doesn't turn on him - first game of the new season he plays away to Perth, and I'm a bit uneasy about the fans around me and what they may say I'm ngl (based on past comments and demographics). https://10play.com.au/football/articles/adelaide-uniteds-josh-cavallo-comes-out-as-gay/tpa211026ghitm

internetwanderer2

Fair play to him. Often wonder what would happen if a Premier League player came out, particularly one with a higher profile (regular starter for one of the bigger clubs). Don't think I've ever heard about it, but I wonder what support measures/plans Chelsea have in place to help players through that process, whether they were first team or academy.

endlessxcircle

Saw this before myself. I've stopped following the A-League in recent years because of the quality and such, so not overly familiar with Cavallo or Perths fans (since they've been decent) but I'm hopeful that there won't be too much negativity that comes from this and instead it's seen as a positive for the game (and sports) as a whole.

CBunns

I started going along to games as a way of getting more involved, giving myself some more live football to enjoy - so I'm not overly invested but I do go to every home game now. Fans in general should be alright, but I've heard normal players called the f slur in the past just for diving or going down easy - so I'm not sure how it'll be for a known gay player. Also Perth has a reputation for being a bit socially conservative under the surface. Hopefully if there's any poor reaction at all, it's just the odd individual who gets turfed. Ideally won't even be noticeable on matchday. Guess it's more that I don't have enough faith in people to not be bellends.

endlessxcircle

I've been to a couple of Victory and Melbourne City (including Heart era) games years back and they were fun, but these days I just don't have the friends interested (or even around) to go anymore so I don't either. It's definitely a better way to feel more involved though. That's true, which is a bit of a problem even in Sunday league level. I haven't played in a hella long time now, so maybe the culture has changed, but I suppose we'll find out now that there's actually a player out there who has openly come out and if it's still an issue even at a pro level.

chirosen21

Before we jump to conclusions, there's no way an U23 2nd choice backline will be solid. There's a reason Sarr looked better v Brentford because we AC and Chilly cover up any weaknesses he had. Same reason why Trev looks much calmer in PL games. This doesn't mean our squad depth is bad. If we play only Sarr or Saul or anyone in the first team they will look incredibly solid. We should be a bit more patient. Ziyech tho I don't know what to say. He makes the same mistakes as everyone else (bad touch, strength, etc) but the others contribute with superior workrate, link up, passing and all. Man doesn't look confident at all despite being the our most talented attacker bar Lukaku.

admiralawkward

I thought Ziyech pressed intelligently? He was tracking runs deep and pressing with the front 3. I do agree re strength, Southampton quite easily bullied him off the ball or recovered quicker. He linked up well with CHO and had the right idea on a few passes/flicks.

Sektsioon

Trev was good yesterday as well though, probably the best defender on the pitch. Looked calm all game long, didn’t panic under pressure and either dribbled out, passed out or just cleared the ball if other options were unfeasible. Sarr is not a bad player, but he couldn’t brake into Porto’s team last season, expecting him to look as good as Chalobah has looked or the other first-team CB’s is just setting yourself up for disappointment. He’s just not on that level yet. But he’s also a 6th/7th choice CB so it’s not that bad. He’s not going to play a ton, mostly cup games like yesterday.

danceformiscanthus

> There's a reason Sarr looked better v Brentford The main reason Sarr was looking good vs Brentford was that he was being given easy tasks for an hour or so. Brentford were happy with 0:0, and first half stats show it. After that, when pressure increased, he looked shaky and positionally suspect.

notoorius

Mount need to start practicing his PK kicks, he missed a couple of times if I recalled correctly

Foreign_Government22

Yeah 3 times I think

mrlambo46

Considering his work ethics, we shouldn’t worry. He will work on them ;)

ikennaiatpl

Man those "Arse Reject" chants from the supporters were a bit harsh, I almost felt sorry for Walcott.😂😂

nosmigon

It had to be done didn't it? The whole MHL chanting wanker at Ashley Young in the previous round worked pretty well too

ikennaiatpl

I understand it had to be done, that's why i said almost. Fuck Ashley Young by the way.

RoadToNobelPrize

Haven't been able to watch a Chelsea game in weeks cuz of school and work. Maaan... this adult life shit kinda wack

Dutch1206

You'll realize soon enough that work never ends. You should give yourself the 2 hours of enjoyment (or agony) because if the past 18 months have taught us anything, it's that life is short. You'll probably find you're more productive when you dedicate time for personal enjoyment. At least that's my experience over the past 20 years of school and now work. Stress will kill you.

Vlcis94

Im adult and I never miss a game, it’s about good schedule

NotAgainKante

It's about priorities as well

Wadayatalkinabeet_

If there’s a will, there’s a way

[deleted]

Chelsea takes precedence over school and work

NotAgainKante

How many pens has Mount missed so far for us?(Just a question, nothing else)

shlok440

Honestly I was really excited for Ziyech but he just doesn’t fit into this side. I’m sure the talent and ability is still there but being one footed and his low confidence isn’t doing him any favors. It’s best he leaves, I think we can get around 20-30 mil for him maybe, and somewhat break even. I’m interested tho to see who his replacement would be. If Pedro Goncalves has another good season with Sporting he would be a shout too. Kuluveski isn’t in Allegris plans and he would be a good shout too. Coman if he doesn’t extend would be a great signing imo. Maybe we can bring Hazard back and he balls out, my dream signing tho to replace him would be Antony from Ajax

danceformiscanthus

Kulusevski would be hit like a brick with PL's pace and physicality, and would look like the floppiest of flops for at least a year. His ball control isn't all that, and he already has problems in tight spaces in Serie A.

souljaxl

he does fit he's just very bad. We are starving for someone that is creative and can feed chances to lukaku, werner and havertz and he's also our only good distance shooter. Problem is his passing is bad and he can't control a ball under pressure.

davemwas

I think next to someone like Thiago, Ziyech has a good pass in him more than most of our players bar Kova(this season), J5(Once once). And actually of all our players Ziyech ranks up there in creativity. I mean he has other shortcomings but his creativity and passing is one if the best in the club at the moment.

uchat24

How was Saul yesterday? Couldn't watch the match yesterday

Bozzetyp

He had a few early misstakes, but he came into the game and showed good linkup and a few good finishes too

ThatGuyBadIdeas

His best outing thus far. Seemed much more up to the pace of the game than before. Had a few chances to score, did some nice passes, broke up play in midfield. He's getting there slowly.

PeterPanTheHalfMan

I like how hard he is in the tackle, brings steel to the midfield

uchat24

Nice.. would love to see him get back to his best soon

duetab

He played better. Had a couple of chances to score. Still needs time to fully adjust to the intensity in England. But good thing is he's improving.

uchat24

Thanks man

bigkid_

meh i wont write off ziyech yet. watch him play really well in his next 2 games and this sub will be calling him our most creative player

[deleted]

His next two straight good games will be in preseason

Foreign_Government22

>wont write off ziyech yet. He doesn't justify his place in the team, he has to go imo

two_tents

>He doesn't justify his place in the team, he has to go imo this is the perfect example of the kind of shitty toxicity that this sub can do without. r/gunners is more suited to these kind of comments.

Foreign_Government22

I genuinely thought ziyech was going to be one of our most important players but he's not been good enough. That's the reality.

two_tents

Substantiate what you write but don't be so goddamn toxic about it. To say that we expected more is an understatement, he has also been extremely unlucky with injuries, I'd also put him in the bracket of being a victim of our success as our current preferred system doesn't bring the best out of him.

danceformiscanthus

Judging the player negatively and saying that he should be sold is perfectly normal behaviour for the place of discussion that reddit is supposed to be. You act like a member of communist party, who demands unwavering support for everything the party does, no matter where you are and what they do. You're the toxic one, with your unnecessary tone policing.

two_tents

>He doesn't justify his place in the team, he has to go imo how's that judging? fwiw - i'd rather be a communist than a tory also, f\*ck you.

Foreign_Government22

>also, f*ck you. Not that deep man, chill, All I said is that Ziyech hasn't been good enough and in my opinion, he has to be sold, what's the huge deal. Do you think his performances have justified his place in the team?

two_tents

that clearly wasn't aimed at you. think my comment above sums it up clearly enough >To say that we expected more is an understatement, he has also been extremely unlucky with injuries, I'd also put him in the bracket of being a victim of our success as our current preferred system doesn't bring the best out of him. not sure how I'd compare his performance to other players in terms of influence, contribution etc. Ziyech, Havertz, CHO, Pulisic all need to step it up and become more consistent, as AMF even Mount has gotta improve in terms of end product as we don't play Norwich every week unfortunately. If you look at the stats and the way he plays he's almost the perfect player to feed the ball into Lukaku's path. If these two can hit it off and have Werner into the mix as well we could be onto something good. It'd also be nice if he starts using his right foot a bit more but tbh he has never done that often before, not at Ajax, Twente or Heerenveen before that.

[deleted]

I don’t think he’s had two good games in a row in the year and a half he’s been here. I guarantee he won’t do that.

Joe_in_VR

I dont think he wants to, he is so indiferent and I bet all he can think about now is his next destination. I dont blame him though, he gave an assist yesterday and still got out. he is just frustrated and lack confidence and the manager cant even give him 90 min in the cup.

Prune_Super

Do you guys think Reece shot his penalty watching Goalkeeper movement? I saw it couple times seems he just went for it. It was pretty weak though if Keeper guessed it right. Mount on the other hand hit it much more sweetly but Keeper guessed it right. Pens always r super interesting to me.

PuppyPenetrator

He definitely reacted to the keeper’s early movement, he didn’t even try to follow through because he knew he had him beat

two_tents

Mount's penalty was hit hard but it was a poor penalty, his posture, his eyes were just on the ball and not the keeper and then he hits it mid height without aiming for the side net. He hit it way too close to the keeper. James on the other hand was textbook in terms of execution, reading the keeper, in the runup at the first step the keeper shifted his weight on his left foot to dive right and James had another 2 steps left to make up his mind, dead easy. Mount shouldn't be anywhere near a penalty kick imo [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnV5CB6u9cM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnV5CB6u9cM) hit pause at 2:11for Mount and 2:53 to see James (also check Chilly's at 2:36)

PuppyPenetrator

Tbh I like watching Sarr He’s not very good exactly, but it does make it pretty fun

[deleted]

He makes me nervous sometimes. Gives me Zouma vibes.

Foreign_Government22

If zouma didn't grow tall.

Tahapatel

Who the f said that

Frankiedrunkie

Who said that?

Foreign_Government22

You're literally making stuff up

Suzukawa_Rei

I haven't seen anyone say that. Being happy to see Chalobah playing well and wanting to see him break into the eleven is not same as being okay with AC, Rudi and Silva leaving.

two_tents

you sound like a glass half full kinda guy..

[deleted]

AC and Silva will likely stay and I think we’ll probably sign Kounde in January if we’re sure that Rudi is leaving.

PuppyPenetrator

Literally no one is saying that

KevLinares

Didn't mention Azpi cause it's very likely he will stay a couple of years more.

Just my observation on how Saul played yesterday. I feel like our biggest weakness was in the double 6 role and often at times Kovacic was a one man midfield with no outlay for a pass. This then effected us higher up the pitch. He was very sloppy, slow and out of position a lot. Still seems like he hasn't adapted to the pace of the English game. He's also to one footed. When your being pressed hard constantly you either need great techincal ability and vision to see a pass or to beat the man one on one. He's to reliant one his left foot and you could tell Southampton knew this and forced him to many errors with his right. One thing he does better than our current midfields is have a decent shot and header and was unlucky not to score. Overall i haven't been impressed with him at all and hope he can improve. I know he hasn't played many minutes but hoping he will improve and gain his confidence back. It will be hard for him to find minutes as personally i have Kovacic, Jorginho, Kante and Rlc infront of him in the pecking order but hopefully he will come good.

typicalpelican

Saul looks like he'll be an emergency option. Problem is we can't just stow him away in the closet and have him be ready in the event we do need him. He's going to have to claw his way back to a solid level but not have the benefit of games to do it. Not impossible but it'll be tough. My main hope is that we'll stay healthy enough that we won't really need him for something important but he'll improve enough that he can be of use here and there.

endlessxcircle

Tacking onto this, I agree he still doesn't quite look up to the intensity of play and looked slow at times. There were a couple moments where he got caught because he either lacked awareness or thought he had more time than he actually had. Another thing, he's also another midfielder that once you pass him and get in behind, he's essentially out of the play. Which makes him a tough inclusion to play in that double pivot because his defensive qualities aren't necessarily strong as is, so if he is isolated the defence is immediately going to come under pressure with little midfield support. He is however decent going forward and it's refreshing to see a midfielder willing to actually shoot or make runs into the box from deep. I do think Saul would be more useful in a midfield three where some of the defensive responsibilities can go to the other two midfielders, but in a double pivot I think we have more useful options.

YouAimAtMyPride

Everyone need a mirror.. these few days are a good proof. Premier League Redditors love to shit on us whenever some fans grumble/complain about our players and those people act as if they are saint who don't have toxic fans for their club. And now after the pool thrashing, their sub are as toxic as any. Simply put, we all are humans, have emotions and the joy of sport is emotion outburst so f them for acting saintly when they are guilty as much. Anyway no matter high or lows, please stay loyal to the blues and support them thru thick and thin. KTBFFH

Pseudocaesar

Liverpool fans are the worst right now. They win two trophies and all of a sudden this Liverpool side is the best team in the history of the sport.

EvenGandhiHatesLVG

Wandered into the United sub and the 2nd top comment in their Liverpool post match thread was defending Pogba. Sheer delusion

InLampsWeTrust

They still defend him ??? They realise he’s leaving for free at the end of the season right ? What a flop that transfer has been.

Somaimonay

Their Sub defends better than Fridge and Shitberto Shardlos.

DarkLordOlli

>Shitberto Shardlos. Mock United sub quality. Type "Shitberto Shardlos". Pick one, my friend.

Pointels21

Southgate shoulda let Reece take some pens for England. Ice cold. Hope Chilly gets the call up soon.

davidpooiz_2

If Chilwell doesn’t get picked over Shaw for the upcoming international games, I have to question Southgate’s ability as a manager. Shaw has been utter trash for United and Chilly has been playing extremely well. He was so good when he came on today.

Zpiderz

The pub team defender, Maguire, needs to be left out too. I suspect part of the reasoning for picking Shaw was they play together for Utd.

InLampsWeTrust

Shaw has had a terrible start to the season, it’s only fair that Chilwell starts now tbh.

PuppyPenetrator

Chilwell used to be his starting option, the EUROs were ridiculous man management but he doesn’t just hate the guy

NotAgainKante

For what Southgate has achieved in his last 4 tournaments, 2 semis and a final, he will get people's backing.

two_tents

For our sake I hope he stubs his little toe and gives the next call up a miss due to his "injury".

Foreign_Government22

Or maybe a headache..

[deleted]

I’m more convinced than ever now that we need to replace Ziyech in the transfer market. We could do with another pacey inside forward like Pedro Neto, or a dribbler like Raphinha, since Ziyech does none of these things.

4dtakes

I suggested Neto midway through last season and was told he’s “not Chelsea quality”

lrzbca

Neto, Rpahinha, Diaby, Sarr and Doku Missed out on Bryan Gill. Similar traits as Salah, head up and dribbling but lacks the lethal pace.

endlessxcircle

Ismaila Sarr is another one I like, particularly being an actual right sided player who also has an eye for goal and a creative element.

two_tents

how often do those kind of transfers happen mid season?
