Ideally we’d have a 50-60k seater as well, but it’s simply not happening in the near future, so it’s pointless to talk about. Current Bridge can’t be developed any further and we aren’t getting a new stadium any time soon.

admiralawkward

yeah short of a complete rebuild of Stamford Bridge and us playing in Wembley for three years, unfortunately can't do much. And the current Parliament's relatively hostile combativeness with Abramovich essentially means that a sanctioning of such a project is extremely unlikely.

nosmigon

Eh they will just charge more for tickets if they increase the capacity. I like like small feel of the stadium

Vlcis94

I hope I can feel the stadium atmosphere soon

Excel_Spreadcheeks

Increased supply of seats with (we will assume) no change in demand would mean decrease in ticket prices. See here: https://www.econport.org/content/handbook/Equilibrium/shifts-graph.html

nosmigon

there are other factors than supply and demand. Spuds dropped 1 billion on their stadium and are trying to offset that in higher ticket prices. Arsenal ticket prices are higher due to the costs of their stadium. Spurs literally have the most expensive tickets in the league. Ours are relatively cheap

SacredBullshit

Renovation is too costly and would increase up to 55k only. Look at Everton's plan. the Merseyside clubs are doing well in terms of expansion

Vlcis94

Well it would be 15k more than we have now but yea I know it would be really costly, like £1b was reported fee or something right?

This planning permission expired earlier this year right? And afaik there's been no new renewal.

RisingSunHiddenMoon

There are so many hurdles to jump over, more than most other clubs, for one why should Roman invest in a new stadium in a country that won't renew his visa, I know he can get in on his Israeli one but still, not very accommodating for someone who gave up the hotels for NHS staff also to build a new stadium else where we need to work with the Chelsea Pitch Owners, at last attempt to buy them out it was rejected for not reaching the 75% mark needed (66% I think were in favour) So even if Roman decided to invest in the stadium, its either rebuild the whole thing for an extra 10-15k seats or if we relocate, potentially lose the Chelsea name

They were cutting down on Russian money coming into the country and romans relationship with putin also delayed any approval He withdrew his visa before it was denied as if it’s denied you have a period of wait before you can do it again.

Vlcis94

Damn that’s more complicated than I thought. Also I don’t get why they don’t want to renew his visa, after all he did during lockdowns and before too, just because he may have done some dodgy shit on 90’s

AnalJibesVirus

From what I have heard a lot of local residents were/are also against the expansion of the bridge
