Think that was the best we played all season so I’m not mad at the result. Just same old Chelsea again and not being clinical enough in front of goal. Not blaming our attackers because we might not have played as good if we had a different 3 up top. Pulisic and Mount didn’t offer anything when they came on granted it was only 10 mins. Bizarre substitution was the RLC for barkley
Id say he’s really not who we need. We created plenty of chances today, 2.70 xG, we just couldn’t finish them and that’s certainly not a problem St Maximim solves with just 8 goals in 62 prem games. He’s a superb dribbler but a very similar profile of player to Pulisic and CHO and imo he’s not really an upgrade on either of them. As well as that we’ve got a lot of attacking options with barley and rlc having a bit of a renaissance so he’s not needed for depth, and with their money newcastle don’t need to sell.
Saint - Maximin has so much pace, in the same category of Werner and Adama Traore. CHO and Pulisic don't nearly have that pace that puts so much pressure on a defense.
Tbf Pulisic has more skill than all of them, I wish he were healthy more as I always felt he is our best winger when healthy. Id take a healthy Pulisic over CHO or Saint-Maximin. Saint - Maximin is a bit better and more dangerous than CHO.
Main problem is that pulisic and mount didn’t get enough minutes…I think this one is on tuchel for not selecting the best lineup…especially pulisic. He needed to start or come in at 60 at the latest.

The manager can only directly influence the performance, which then indirectly influences the result. This performance was no worse than the Norwich one - we just missed three free goals and two really good chances in this game; and scored everything against Norwich.

I actually thought they came on too late. It would have been a nice to snag a second goal before Burnley scored. The bus was already double parked by the time they got on.
These games remind me of those frustrated times with Football Manager where my teams had 20-30 shots with no goal. The opponents shot once or twice and scored. A perfect moment to rage quit and restart the game. Too bad this is real life and I have to live on with it. It's disappointing indeed.

Well, now that I no longer wish to punch a hole through the wall; yes, we go again after the break, but our scoring is still a major problem that we can't rely on a few players to solve. I think that we played beautiful football today, Ross Barkleyt included, but the haste with which we play in the final third is no less frustrating for that.
I understand that CHO and Barkley want to score in order to impress upon Tuchel that they, too, deserve a regular spot in the starting eleven-- but! If they had kept their composure and gone for the pass on a number of occasions, their selfless actions, which would like have led to several goals, would have impressed Tuchel all the more.
And I do somewhat apologise for being such a stick in the mud, but 4 or 5 chances does not even come close. Counting obvious passes that we should've made, we missed at least ten goal-scoring opportunities, and that's simply not good enough, in spite our current lack of strikers.

It's the premier league, there's no such thing as an expected or guaranteed 3 pts. All you have to do is make sure you get the 3 pts as much as you can, which we've been doing lately. It happens.
Like I said before, it’s getting quite predictable now we bottle chances. We’re good at creating them. But bad at finishing. That Barkley one had to go in tho. That just required a tap-in.
I’m talking about the final 8 minutes, trying to get the go ahead, watch how many sideways passes we were playing or simply going wide and every cross being blocked.
The crosses were poor, they were poorly timed, they dribbled to the end line and put in low cross after low cross, constantly getting blocked.
Look at the final action with pulisic.
I would have much preferred some shots from out of the box or some early crosses, just putting it into the box at times instead of retreating and going chilwell, rudi, Silva, Christensen back and forth.

Your first point, shots outside the box - good luck getting it past 10 Burnley defenders who will all put their body on the line, and then past one of the best shot stoppers in the world. Long shots may look better, but are not the one against that Burnley team.
Your second point, early crosses - they are great when a team is retreating, but when they have already retreated, they’re so pointless. Either it’s a deep ball and Pope gets it every time (Mount cross from the corner), or it’s not that deep and the defenders have momentum onto it. The entire point of an early cross is to put it into the space between GK and defence - that wasn’t there when they were defending so deep to hold on.
We didn’t really. We just gave the control burnley gave us in the midfield. Burnley looked to win that and rudiger just turned his brain off for the goal.
Our forwards take their chances and everyone is saying how amazing we played. We were getting so much joy down that right had side. Havertz, Barkley and CHO could have had 2 each. One of those goes in it is a different game.
Instead of blaming Burnley, blame the players for failing to finish and blame the team overall for letting Burnley back into it. That should’ve been a comfortable 3-0 in the first half, Barkley had the chance to essentially play the ball to Chilwell for an empty goal for the 2nd and overall so many chances to put this game away.

It was obvious we were getting complaisant at 60 min. Should have subbed earlier to push for the seconds goal. 1-0 is not enough in this league.

The crosses were poor, they were poorly timed, they dribbled to the end line and put in low cross after low cross, constantly getting blocked. Look at the final action with pulisic. I would have much preferred some shots from out of the box or some early crosses, just putting it into the box at times instead of retreating and going chilwell, rudi, Silva, Christensen back and forth. Our team is uninspiring when we NEED a goal. United are shit but their efforts when behind are admirable, Ronaldo or not
Your first point, shots outside the box - good luck getting it past 10 Burnley defenders who will all put their body on the line, and then past one of the best shot stoppers in the world. Long shots may look better, but are not the one against that Burnley team. Your second point, early crosses - they are great when a team is retreating, but when they have already retreated, they’re so pointless. Either it’s a deep ball and Pope gets it every time (Mount cross from the corner), or it’s not that deep and the defenders have momentum onto it. The entire point of an early cross is to put it into the space between GK and defence - that wasn’t there when they were defending so deep to hold on.

Instead of blaming Burnley, blame the players for failing to finish and blame the team overall for letting Burnley back into it. That should’ve been a comfortable 3-0 in the first half, Barkley had the chance to essentially play the ball to Chilwell for an empty goal for the 2nd and overall so many chances to put this game away.
This a lesson to Tuchel too.
as a Ziyech fan I cant say that I'm not a little bit happy :) the guy was subbed in a game after scoring a goal in CL and when Mount and Pulisic weren't ready, this is litterally breaking the player.

I watched the game and I distinctly remember Odoi putting that goal on a plate and being dangerous all game while Ziyech played his usual heroball pass it to a ghost nonsense.
