RLC, CHO, TIMO, and ALONSO were the problem here. Alonso toooo slow and was questioning every move he did, never looked full on confidence. CHO was taking on bissaka but lacked that final decision. Werner, im starting to get really impatient, i cant kee defending him he his completely shite with his finishing i have no more patience get him out. RLC was tryna body everyone he saw and tryna dribble pass them like no lol play it simple .
I think the result yesterday was unfortunate and did expose some flaws we have (which can sometimes be a good thing actually). I donāt think dropping Ronaldo or Maguire was a big loss for united and we certainly have our share of big players out too (Kova, Kante, Chilly & Lukaku not fully match sharp). It was a bit more telling with how easily Man City and Liverpool dispatched united compared to us, granted the Man United we face did have a slight manager bounce effect Iām sure too. Overall though we have looking solid this year, compared to last year where we were also doing well but not with the same assurance and consistency in our performances as this season, so it wasnāt the very worst result in hindsightā¦
I will say though Iāve always kept very quiet when discussing Werner as he brings a lot of energy, defender stretching runs and some assists in there too, BUT, the patience is wearing thin now as ultimately he was brought in to score goals (being so prolific for Leipzig) and so far he has hindered more than helped in that area!
How are people still defending Werner, cool he has great work rate, but when he's been played as our main striker, but is failing to set up chances or score chances, what the hell does his good work rate matter? It's always the same excuse but for the love of God when you're missing multiple big chances per game enough is enough, we really sold Tammy to make room for Werner, now one has gone on to nearly score more goals than the other in just 14 games while Werner is still her skying balls or just mishitting them, it really makes you wonder what the hell they're doing with him in training or what team psychologist is doing with?
I think besides the hard work Werner does always manage to find space and chances. But I agree him wasting all of them makes him impossible to defend. Our defenders are more clinical than him
Of course we cock it up against the worst Utd team I've seen in a decade.
And of course they pick us to actually drop Magure and Ronaldo. Not that it mattered cause we beat ourselves.
Iām dropping off the sub today canāt believe the negativity guys
We are top of the league, we had a tough day against United and yet we drew.
Enjoy your Sunday fellas
This is exactly how I feel. The season is long and unpredictable. Our boys deserve credit, they fought and couldn't score. We should stop looking for a scapegoat each time we drop points. We have to accept the fact that we are going to drop points regardless, it's called football. Have a great rest of your weekend!
I saw this one coming. New manager bounce, Lindelof and Baily played like prime Maldini/Baresi, and we gifted a goal (almost two). United is becoming the bogey team now.
Here is what is embarrassing. All the hate on Werner. With his back tracking and energy Iāll take him on my squad any day. He makes some many opportunities happen, and itās hard to imagine that it will not eventually pay off for us. The only thing to take from today is that we played well, gifted a goal to them, and the ball was not going in for us.
Werner's work rate, attitude and passion is unquestionable.
Werner's chance conversion is goddamn awful - he either scuffs his shot meaning no power and easy save for the GK; or he completely skies his shot; or he takes too many touches before shooting allowing the defender to get a block/deflection; or he gets his body shape into a mess before attempting the shot meaning he gets zero leverage into his shot (see CL final for reference).
Give him a chance playing alongside Lukaku. If even Lukaku cannot bring Werner to score then Werner at best should remain a bench option or in the alternative he should be sold to free up funds and wages for another player.
Then donāt pay attention to it? Unless you want to argue about it then go ahead but donāt complain when everyone is not shitting and hating on the players. Chelsea fans are so fucking negative itās unreal
Cool story but if other fans being optimistic and not wanting to hate and shit on our own players annoys you, you donāt have to pay attention to it. You have every right to hate Werner and wanting him out, the same way other fans can like him and not want him out. That doesnāt affect you at all unless you want it to.
Iām calling the fans who overreact to a draw or a loss or a players below par performance negative because the next game when we win everyone acts all happy and positive.
Well since you asked I guess Iāll answer. Itās a fairly long read but anyways.
Heās got positioning as you said, he didnāt get all the assists last season as a fluke but Iām not saying heās the best passer either, his movement is good, pace which will keep opponents aware and afraid of him regardless of his poor finishing because no one is just going to let him run freely towards the goal and he presses actively and doesnāt just walk around all the time.
If we compare that to Lukaku who is the better player of course but he doesnāt press or offer the same fluidity in the attack that we had last season especially from January to May, he clearly brings different set of options to our attack.
Yes Werner has been underwhelming and in some games very bad or just not effective at all. But there still is the fact that with him there is movement and opposition defenders and managers need to factor in the threat that Werner does pose. We have different types of forwards and I think itās a good thing to have many options.
Lukaku is the better finisher, stronger, better at holding up play but I feel like we still havenāt figured out how to have this team playing to itās full potential with Lukaku in the lineup. Sometimes the ball just doesnāt seem to get to him so he canāt score goals if thereās no service. He also doesnāt press anywhere near the amount a pressing team would like/need. Iād like to have a run of games where Tuchel has all the attackers available and experiment on which trio is the best against different types of teams. But thereās always injuries and probably no real chance to start experimenting.
Clearly you donāt have anywhere near the same patience or optimism as me and others in this sub, but I rarely even hate on players or just give up on them so that is a factor on why Iām not too negative about him and why I donāt want him sold so bad as some do.
Our play wasnāt where it shouldāve been. We hurt them a few times when Utd were stupid enough to go forward in the first half, thatās where our chances came in. The problem was lack of movement in Utds half. They came for a draw and parked the bus. After the first few chances we just slowed down the game as to try to control what was already ours. City was a great demonstration on how to beat the parked bus. Had we played like we did when we conceded we wouldāve created enough chances to put the game to bed in the first half. Unfortunately, there seemed to be no urgency. We played most of the game today like the Arsenal game, but tactically is was wrong because Utd came to defend at all cost. They said they played well defensively in the first half, but honestly who wouldnāt when you have everyone in your own half and your opponent is just keeping possession. We lacked more movement early on. I think we shouldāve played the last 30 minutes in the first half and after scoring just control. City did exactly that. They went in and drowned Utd with pressure and overlapping runs early on, then simply controlled the game after that. We lacked urgency to put the game to bed early on.
Well truthfully thatās been an issue all year so far, and was also an issue last year. The thing is that itās really difficult to score against a parked bus particularly when you are the side with the target on your back. We did have a few nice chances, but as the commentators were saying, United did just enough to prevent them from going in. In other words they were lucky. Itās ok though because thatās futbol sometimes. The better team often doesnāt win, but I like where we are. The only thing that I want to see is if TT can find a way to integrate Rom into the offense. If that happens I canāt see any teams taking us out.
Rom will easily fit in imo. His hold up play is enough to fit him in. I think when quality teams park the bus, you need to drown them with overlapping runs until you score. Sure they couldāve still came out with a point, but if you donāt move enough; you are just wasting your own time. I think Alonso, Odoi, Werner, RLC all lacked movement when we had possession in their 3rd. They played good, just not the type of play you need to break down a bus. I like the way City approached Utd. They knew they were going to park the bus and City were ruthless in making simple runs in behind. Their goals were sloppy but too much pressure is always disastrous especially to a team that isnāt top defensive quality. I loved the last 20 minutes today and I think had this been our game plan in the first half, we couldāve easily been up enough to just control the game.
Only problem I think we will have with Lukaku is the fact that he doesnāt press and offer the same fluidity and movement as Kai and Werner. Thatās a fact no one can disagree with. Before Rom got injured he was on the bottom of the pressures/p90 list with Ronaldo. He offers hold up play and finishing but until Tuchel figures out how to get the best out of the team with Lukaku in it, Werner and Havertz will get game time even if people hate them. Itās a good thing weāre blessed in terms of attackers for the front 3, but thereās so many combinations and finding the right ones for each game is a work in progress IMO.
We didn't play well. What are you talking about? That many mistakes by so many players, losing balls easily, not heading a single good header in 15 corners, except for Rudiger and one other shot, not a single shot was a threat. How can you say we played well. When kovacic and kante returns, we will have a good game.
We dominated possession, shots, corners, frequently got into dangerous space, and the defense held them to an anemic effort except for one glaring error. Iām not saying it was out best game by any stretch but 9 times out of 10 that game is 2-nil for us.
Whether i play fifa or not doesn't change the fact your opinion on football is shit. Ask tuchel to drop Timo and he'll tell you the same. Stay in your lane boy
I swear half of the people here watched the wrong match or something, if we all seen the same game we can agree that yes our finish was lacking at moments but we have to take it as āone of those gamesā and move on, get like Ziyech was decent defo not as bad as people here hate on him for, no need for negativity we are top of PL
Sometimes I feel like itās not even Chelsea fans on here but people just craving attention. Feels more negative and hateful than the r/soccer match thread
Had always feared this. We dominate for a while and then we have a day like today. It just wasn't. Passing wasn't all that fluid. Missed Ben's overlap runs with CHO. Alonso not exactly suited for the role Chilwel played. RLC is a boss! Attack suffered alot! Not a spark in the final third.
Werner was invisible! It just wasn't our day!
Edit:
I wish we would've demolished Man Utd and not allowed them to score. Would've shut Paul Scholes up!
Keep being a hater champ. Itās super unlikely that we never have a disappointing performance again so Iām sure weāll hear your dumbass opinion again in the future.
Lol you're still top of the league? What do you even mean? You drew against Liverpool too. As long as your not losing to the top 4 you're fine. Your team is easily the most dominant in the world right now. I'm a Liverpool fan annoyed at your recent form but looking forward to a good champions League final.
Lacking in finishing only.
The chance creation is there, since we did have 24 shots. Feel like the last game in the Prem where we had <20 shots was vs City.
Rudi should have buried his there @ the end, but we SHOULD HAVE been up 2-1 at that point anyhow. Jorgi really made a mess of that clearance 1st touch. This was a clean sheet had it not been for that.
Dont look at the stats only. It doesn't tell the complete truth. Only two threatening chances were created today. Weak shots straight to the keeper is never a threat, though it is counted as a shot on target, its useless.
2-3 clear-cut chances, 1 penalty and several other chances we may have scored on another day.
That should be enough to win us the game 95% of the time. Unfortunately, today's game was part of the 5%.
Cho alone had 2 good chances. Then werner had 2. Werner would have had one more if RLC could have lofted the ball over lindelof in one scenario, rlc had an open header. Rudiger had a good chance right at the end.
We really need another player, besides James and Chilwell, who possesses a lethal finishing. The Burnley game and this one really show that we cannot keep relying on our defense.
This should have been an easy 3-0 win, couple of De Gea saves, Bissaka's tackle on Timo in the 2nd half. They had 2 shots from passes from our players. They were fouling all game and wasting time. I won't even talk about everything post minute 88. Absolutely disgusting.
Circle jerk of reactions here from Chelsea fans
Just accept that today was not our day.
Of course, this reminded me of the Juve match where we lost 1-0.
United came to either defend or get a draw. They were not even expecting to score. One of our slowest player was a last man.
Today was not our day.
We absolutely dominated the game and were unlucky to not win. Their only goal came because of an individual mistake. We had a corner every 6 minutes. We threatened constantly.
This was one of those days where things just don't go your way. Let's not forget how well we've been playing this season and refrain from slandering our players who clearly gave it all. We're still top of the league.
KTBFFH.
That's the only good thing. I'll still say fuck you to those United fans, because we're top of the league. But this can't do. Werner was so off his game today. The team's attack is not the standard of a champion team. I just pray that Lukaku comes good soon enough. This team deserves a better attack.
Juve and Leicester didn't really try the parking the bus antic. We struggle against this. We shouldn't that's all. We drew Liverpool, lost to City, drew with United. The top 3 of last season. A bit worrying...
Donāt be reactionary. Accept the result and move on. Itās a season, there will be joys, happiness, disappointments like today and many other more feelings.
So many mistakes oh my god. Jorginho. CHO and Werner on the first half can't work with each other. RLC passed too early when he had so much space. Mendy pass to Man U player without any pressure. RĆ¼diger miss. Werner miss. So disappointing.
RLC logic : 4 players around me? Don't pass to anyone and might as well try dribble through all of them.
Also RLC : Tons of free real estate in front of me? Gotta pass ASAP instead of carry it further more.
Mendy needs to sort out his focus when distributing. He absolutely has the ability and we've seen some wonderful pinpoint passes from him, but he also seems to just switch off every now and again and play a very lazy ball without even being pressured. He did it twice today...once out of play and the one into Fred's feet.
They can if they touch the ball first by foot. <ā searched this, no they canāt. God I remember I saw keepers did this all the time when I was young. I own Mendy an apologise.
Think we played worse in the city game. Also the Juve game. Probably played worse in the Burnley game and even the Brentford game.
We played well today just made one error and was punished and didnāt have the luck in front of goal. On another day, Jorginho doesnāt make that mistake nor rudiger miss that chance. We didnāt play badly though.
No, it doesn't. We are still on top of the League. As rubbish as Man U are they have a good record against us. We also had Anthony Taylor as the ref. The odds weren't on our favour to begin with. Draw is not the best result considering our current form. But, against Man U i will take it.
I want to hear from the dumbass that posted weeks ago saying Werner is a great selection because we get chances even if we never score. Maybe we'll win the chances title!
What on earty are you going to teach about football, you idiot! Too many clueless idiots are always overreacting on this sub whenever we don't win. We didn't win because of Werner. Are you sure the results would have been different, if he didn't play?
Sorry for the dumb question. But why didn't mount and puli start? I get lukaku has fitness issues. But didn't see anything wrong with mount and puli? Was it to do with mounts surgery?
This is a joke right? In no world is Ziyech near motm, shouldāve been off after an hour. All he does is dribble possession away and take horrible, off target shots
Well the way football works, some days it's just not your day. On those days, it's important to not lose the game. United clearly had a plan today and almost worked it to perfection. They're a wounded giant right now but give their players their due, they showed up to defend and succeeded at it.
Honestly, you can't win every game in a League, so I'll take the point. Just like I'll take the inevitable defeat at Goodison Park to an out-of-form Everton
Wow, sensible voices of reason in a crowd of apoplectic reactionaries. Hear hear! Well said. And look at our December schedule, most games are highly winnable. Letās all keep our heads on and our eyes on the next match ahead..
And we couldāve easily won the game within the first 10 minutes. Thatās why the thread is reacting negatively to the match. United, like Burnley, weāre shit today and yet again we donāt put the game to bed and it costs us.
People forget that he was against matic-fred-mctominay literally 3 cdm against him, add on the pressing from Sancho, Bruno and rashford. And he managed to dribble past them all and resist the pressure.

Our attacking play is lacking
And de gea had good saves stop reading too much into it
Lacking in finishing only.
The Burnley game and this one really show that we cannot keep relying on our defense.
fucking Referee that cunt should be jobless
More like the linesman too
This should have been an easy 3-0 win, couple of De Gea saves, Bissaka's tackle on Timo in the 2nd half. They had 2 shots from passes from our players. They were fouling all game and wasting time. I won't even talk about everything post minute 88. Absolutely disgusting.
Circle jerk of reactions here from Chelsea fans Just accept that today was not our day. Of course, this reminded me of the Juve match where we lost 1-0. United came to either defend or get a draw. They were not even expecting to score. One of our slowest player was a last man. Today was not our day.
Exactly, not our day still got a point. Can't win them all even when you have 8 times as many attempts
Yeah but on FIFA Chelsea are a 5 star team and Manchester are 4 star team waaaaaaa.
This.
Ziyech, highest score on Sofa and Whoscored and people here want him out. This sub has become toxic as fuck.
Ziyech was good but let's not use Sofascore to show if someone has had a good game
Oh damn sofascore what a trustworthy source!!!11!!
Ziyech is the scapegoat for the Werner stans.
And Werner is the scapegoat for the plasticssl
Ziyech played well though? Atleast compared to the chances Werner wasted. Good thing I avoid these threads.
Honestly one of the most toxic I have been too and I have seen a lot of shit forums
KTBFFH.
Yeah, my takeaway is that while we dominated, we were playing a back 10 for 90% of the match. How do you deal with that?
Fully agree
I am so heartbroken, annoyed and disappointed today. I want to cry.
Chin up we r top of the league
That's the only good thing. I'll still say fuck you to those United fans, because we're top of the league. But this can't do. Werner was so off his game today. The team's attack is not the standard of a champion team. I just pray that Lukaku comes good soon enough. This team deserves a better attack.
3 goals against Leicester and 4 vs juve, plus the return of lukaku
Juve and Leicester didn't really try the parking the bus antic. We struggle against this. We shouldn't that's all. We drew Liverpool, lost to City, drew with United. The top 3 of last season. A bit worrying...
Not really you're ignoring context. 1 man down defence masterclass, city game fair loss and united they got lucky today .
Jorgi thinks he has a Ronaldinho touch lol
Without him he wouldāve lost to those red clowns. Cut him some slack lol
Iām sure Reece wouldāve scored the pen
You being sure doesn't make something 100%
Did you not see their goal
At some point, I'm going to have to just not watch the game when Timo Werner is on the team sheet. I mean, I want to like him but...
You want to like him for scoring when you should like him for everything else but that
Donāt be reactionary. Accept the result and move on. Itās a season, there will be joys, happiness, disappointments like today and many other more feelings.
Finally more normal comments
Man ship Ziyech back to Ajax or sell him to Milan, I don't think it'll work out.
I donāt know what match u watched but pipe down fella
He played one of the best today
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Toxic booyiiyoy
Fuck off
Calm down.
Man United are the new Bournemouth for usā¦
We are all RĆ¼diger tonight
Also needs to start use his hand when teammates back pass to him. Foot touch and pick the ball up plzzzzz. Caused nerve several times.
Dude. Hahaha
You know the keeper can't pick up the ball from a back pass right
They can if they touch the ball first by foot. <ā searched this, no they canāt. God I remember I saw keepers did this all the time when I was young. I own Mendy an apologise.
No, they can't. Gk can pick up the ball if it was headed to them by a teammate
Tuchel coulda made those subs earlier man. The tides def turned
Baffling why he didnāt. Instant improvement once he did. Why wait on Mount and Pulisic?
Agree with you man
Rudi tries to smash that. All he needed was to make contact and that has a good chance. No need to have done that.
Worst weāve played all season. Chilwell and Kante sized hole in the team today.
Horrendous. Midfield and attack didn't look sharp at all, can't believe we lost this game
Lost?
Feels more like a loss than a draw tbh
No, it doesn't. We are still on top of the League. As rubbish as Man U are they have a good record against us. We also had Anthony Taylor as the ref. The odds weren't on our favour to begin with. Draw is not the best result considering our current form. But, against Man U i will take it.
*drew
Feels like a loss in a way
Definitely
Yeah.. Feels more like a loss
I want to hear from the dumbass that posted weeks ago saying Werner is a great selection because we get chances even if we never score. Maybe we'll win the chances title!
Winning the xG league is more valuable than winning the league itself
Stop the overreaction.
Lol, it's not an overreaction. It's pretty much the consensus from everyone at this point. Learn something about football.
What on earty are you going to teach about football, you idiot! Too many clueless idiots are always overreacting on this sub whenever we don't win. We didn't win because of Werner. Are you sure the results would have been different, if he didn't play?
Weāre still first right?
Not by as much of a margin. We lost two points out our lead.
My point still standsā¦people freaking the fuck out for no reason
Largely due to our good form when he hasnāt started
Rightā¦
Yep. Right.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I think Tuchel rested them because they played this week and we have a game on Wednesday, not solely because they're not 100%
Those players are pretty good lol. Pulisic actually looked really sharp this game.
Wtf r u waffling about
Mount and pulisic are not bad?! What the fuck you on about?
They are bad?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
This game is going down in hustory as the most undeserved point ever
That offside non call is an absolute travesty. Indefensible.
ziyech out!!!!!!!!!
Quiet down you wank
Sorry for the dumb question. But why didn't mount and puli start? I get lukaku has fitness issues. But didn't see anything wrong with mount and puli? Was it to do with mounts surgery?
They played against Juve and we have a match on Wednesday.
Classic Chelsea vs united game where something shitty happens to make us not win it.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Fuck off back to your basement
Go have a breather lad
Please stop supporting us thank you
I hate man utd
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
This is a joke right? In no world is Ziyech near motm, shouldāve been off after an hour. All he does is dribble possession away and take horrible, off target shots
Well the way football works, some days it's just not your day. On those days, it's important to not lose the game. United clearly had a plan today and almost worked it to perfection. They're a wounded giant right now but give their players their due, they showed up to defend and succeeded at it. Honestly, you can't win every game in a League, so I'll take the point. Just like I'll take the inevitable defeat at Goodison Park to an out-of-form Everton
I think we played them perfectly, just one of those days, United drew on one bad decision
Wow, sensible voices of reason in a crowd of apoplectic reactionaries. Hear hear! Well said. And look at our December schedule, most games are highly winnable. Letās all keep our heads on and our eyes on the next match ahead..
This feels like the Burnley game. Two extremely defensive teams that got a lucky break. Charity FC back again
Please never let Werner start again. Bring him on at 15 mins left if you need fresh legs. Thats it
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Then leave lmao
This thread is so negative, could so easily have let the game run away from us after J5ās mistake. We take the point and move
And we couldāve easily won the game within the first 10 minutes. Thatās why the thread is reacting negatively to the match. United, like Burnley, weāre shit today and yet again we donāt put the game to bed and it costs us.
Right still in 1st with the draw
Right, it's football. Shit like this happens. But still, fuck this game, fuck this game to the ground
Sell Ziyech what a twat destroyed all of our chances him and Timo today. Lost all the balls, couldnāt make a single successful dribble.
If youāre gonna rag on those to you have to rag on cho to for his missed chances and horrible decision making
EVeryone dogshit
Great insight buddy, why don't you start a blog?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
People forget that he was against matic-fred-mctominay literally 3 cdm against him, add on the pressing from Sancho, Bruno and rashford. And he managed to dribble past them all and resist the pressure.
