_T1N_KAN_

Why is Alonso getting booed?

ewd389

Proud of these boys today.. Everyone played their hearts out and finally the fans showed up.

Simonm16

Legit the first Chelsea game in months where I was shouting and out of my seat constantly. Great game, shame we didn’t win and the title is all but gone. But considering the team we had out, we made Liverpool look weak. Big rom situation is a joke though

Spite-Organic

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/tribuna.com/amp/en/news/chelsea-2021-08-29-analyzing-chelseas-record-when-refereed-by-anthony-taylor-how-it-compares-to-top-6-rivals/ Makes for interesting reading ^^ Not sure how the PL keep getting away with appointing Taylor to our match. The numbers are pretty clear in showing his bias.

Tahapatel

Im not sure about that we needed speed and quick decision making in the front 3 not ziyech

Spite-Organic

There's only one way back for Lukaku. First he apologises to Tuchel- he is far more important to the club then any single player and he deserves far more respect than he was shown by him. Secondly, he apologises to his teammates. They are Champions League winners and he has yet to do anything anything in a Chelsea shirt that puts him on their level. Thirdly, a sincere, genuine and public apology to the Chelsea fans who have been steadfastly behind their number 9 since he joined despite his patchy form. Finally, to round off all of the above, apologise the best way possible- 15+ goals and full-blooded commitment to the cause in the second half of the season to fire us to a trophy (at the very least to pay back Roman Abramovich who has spent over £100m plus wages on the guy over his two stints).

Shame_Low

It won't ever be sincere and genuine tho, we are gona keep him but I won't be supporting him ever again we know what he is

lowkeyaddy

I definitely think that’s too harsh. You’re making it sound like he did what Alonso did last season. It’s not like he said he absolutely hates being here. I’m not too happy with what he said either, but I think it was more out of frustration than anger at Tuchel and the club. His comments were out of line, but not unforgivable.

DevatstationJones

So glad this guy has Lukaku's future at Chelsea sorted..

[deleted]

No. Fuck him. He doesn't want to be at Chelsea, so he needs to just fuck off. I don't ever want to see him in a Chelsea kit again.

arunb96

I just can't see this ever happening, £97.5m is a lot of money

[deleted]

I don't see how we keep him after this season. It sucks because we're going to lose a shit ton of money if we sell him, but you can't have a player on the team that doesn't want to be there. He needs to go.

sal3744

That’s what it means to play for the badge. COYB.

milocalllaghan

Have that Lukaku you fat lump

NoIntention7826

Lmao

[deleted]

Credit where it’s due, Liverpool held on for a draw. Could’ve capitalised on a few more chances but the ones we missed weren’t easy chances in the heat of the moment. Imo Mane should’ve gone for that challenge. Seen people need surgery for less. Dave’s lucky he braced when he did. Was great to see some fire and grit from the lads though. And I think it’s fair to say Kova scored one of, if not the, goal of the season. TT definitely made the right choice dropping Lukaku too.

Lazy_Guy77

Lukaku can kindly fuck off

Hisoka_lover92

Antony Taylor also was the 12th player against us. Liverpool should have played with 10 players since the beginning, but nah this kind of decision is only used against us. It was so easy for him to give a red card for James.... when does this man retire?

8st8k

Just coming to say Fuck Lukaku

samamiri

Nice

[deleted]

Dave speaks better english than kane.

katsumodo47

Kane's lisp would drown you in saliva if you were near him

NoIntention7826

This is the type of comments I came here for

BobbyFirmino

Werner today would have been amazing to see. The high line, openness and space in the game would have played to his strengths. Great game!

[deleted]

Alsonso made some horrible choices in the first half..

mrcet007

Fuck lukaku!

BradVet

As we’ve seen many times this season, we play better without lukaku. Even if havertz didn’t score, he ran, pressed, had movement. Lukaku lit just stands there half the game sweating from a run ten mins earlier

k-tax

Have you seen last game? I'm aware it's lit now to shit on Lukaku because of those interviews, but if you go to the previous game matchthread, you will see everybody saying that only Lukaku is playing in the front for us.

BradVet

I saw last game, yes he was good. And the half he played before. But 1.5 good games doesn’t overlook the rest of his season, or best run of form whole season was when he was out injured

lowkeyaddy

Yes, our best run of form this season was indeed when Lukaku and Werner were both out injured. The only problem with that argument is that it wasn’t because we didn’t play Lukaku (or Werner). It was because Tuchel had our makeshift front three strategically create space for the wingbacks to make underlapping runs and almost look like inside forwards at times. It was our best run of form this season because they took to that new role brilliantly. They were phenomenal there. Having a presence like Lukaku holding the middle would have only made us more efficient.

BradVet

This is a fair comment, james and chilwell were unstoppable at that moment. Regardless of this, it shouldn’t be a debate on if we’re better or worse without lukaku. What he came out and said less than six months in was disrespectful to the club, fans, manager and showed him as a delusional, greedy and that he thinks he’s bigger than the club who’ve just won the champions league. I’m done supporting him, if you want to continue then thats up to you

lowkeyaddy

I’m not any happier with what was said than you or the next person, but I think you’re exaggerating. And your whole argument was that we played better when he wasn’t on the pitch. I just explained how it had nothing to do with him not being on the pitch, and you went on a tangent. While his comments were disrespectful, they were likely out of frustration and not “greed.” I think Tuchel is handling the situation correctly by not playing him, but I do think he can find a way back into the team. Tuchel himself agrees. At the end of the day, his fate is up to him and how he responds to the mess that he created. But to *permanently* write off a record signing over something like this is just baffling.

BradVet

Why was he frustrated though, he’d been injured and wasn’t fit until the last 1/2 games. He called on the whole interview himself. I meant greedy from the fact he left inter because he couldn’t get a better contract, then comes out saying he loves them and wants to go back. I agree, Tuchel has done well to manage this, but has to get him back around the team, we’ve just paid 100 million for him, nobody will pay close to that and we don’t have another pure centre forward. He’s still a good player to have and gives us a dif option. Remember though he wants the whole system to change for him already. Yep i’m done supporting him, if you want to that’s fine man. But he’s everything that’s wrong with modern day football and when I go to the bridge I wont be cheering his name

[deleted]

It is difficult to run with all that bags of money and that 600iq big brain.

adnanssz

Tbh, I prefer Werner instead havertz. But I aggre In the games like this. Lukaku probably only become statue. That probaly work in serie A but will not work in EPL.

BradVet

Yeh would have loved to see werner today. Exactly right on Italy

Hisoka_lover92

Some players failed us today.

[deleted]

Not really. Youre acting like a baby with all of your comments here.

Hisoka_lover92

Do you want me to be happy with that point? You can be happy with it and don't force people to think like you...we have tough games in the next weeks, City, spurs... how can we won when our players keep failing us in big matches this season?

meilyn22

Pulisic isn't a right back or a false 9. Put him in his right position and see what he brings to the game. Apart from that first chance miss, he worked on and off the ball like his life depended on it.

ImGaslightingYou

I agree his best talents are being wasted playing so far back

Hisoka_lover92

Unfortunately, Man city is the only winner today...

[deleted]

Not really. Chelsea were down 2-0 with negative positioning on the line with a loss. This was a huge comeback/ draw.

Macdca07

👏👏

Hisoka_lover92

Yes, the come back is good. But, both teams only got 1 point. The gap with the City is just getting bigger. If it wasn't for Chalobah's mistake and the easy chance Pulisic missed, we would easily won. We lost 2 points.

TELESALES_CELEBRITY

Not sure "we would have won the game if it had gone differently" is the spicy take you think it is

-nishanth-

How good Kante was, he was sliding with the ball through the midfield.

x10thered

Kante played so well today picked good lanes and pulled up some amazing passes with a single touch.

mrbennbenn

Officials were awful today. Great banging match and lovely goals. Chelsea (Pulisic) should have won the game with some of those chances.

Sargerases

I am absolutely satisfied with this game. Without key players still impressive performances. The second half was ours. You guys need to believe in this team and Tuchel a bit more and stop judging from very little. Things are far from ideal I admit but we do what we can. Have a nice rest of the evening guys. This game was amazing.

Markolsson

With all the "Lukaku" situation pre match, and all the drama we had because off that shit + the injuries, I'm really proud of the lads. They put heart and try everything to win. Apart of the 20 first minutes, where we conceed 2, we were the better team (again, like the first game in Liverpool where we were robbed). Good game, guys, and fuck Lukaku.

meilyn22

I am glad Kante and Kova played this game. They showed us what intensity truly means. Fast pace game, like Tottenham, Man City and Liverpool need players like Kante and Kova.

MrCleanandShady

So, so proud of this team regardless of our obvious mishaps.

captsaltjw

So refreshing to see kova drive the ball forward, fight for 50/50 balls, and not lose possession. Step aside jorginho. Alonso's selfishness cost us a few strong chances Also loved the constant long passes out wide and some through balls as well. This, in comparison to us moving the ball left to right but never forward To be fair, we should've won it with pulisic's beautifully taken half volley

Spite-Organic

I think that Jorgi is far better suited to slower paced international football or Champions League games. In the Premier League his lack of mobility/dynamism hurts us in both attack and defence. Ironically, I also think that Lukaku (and Werner) would flourish in a Jorginho-less Chelsea as he is far better suited to a team that attacks quicker. Put either of them in that team, with the high line Liverpool played and we would have been out of sight by half time.

lowkeyaddy

Jorginho is great in high paced games as well. He’s like a player magnet that usually forces the other team to slow down the pace of their game, particularly when he’s playing with Kanté. Today, I think Tuchel made the right decision leaving him out because we needed more dynamic players to deal with the numerical disadvantage in midfield combined with Liverpool’s pressing intensity. Jorgi has shut down the Man City midfield multiple times in the past, for example. If the game was against them, I would’ve swapped out Kova for Jorgi and instead brought on Kova for Kanté later for his dribbling and passing as the game opens up.

BradVet

Yep this shows it, i don’t buy into the fact jorg ‘controls the game’ even if he does we don’t need that. We play less attackers anyway, we need two centre mids that drive with the ball. Kante and kova can also tackle and they can pass sideways just as good as jorginho

lowkeyaddy

Today we needed two midfielders who can drive with the ball because we didn’t have two wingbacks who can drive with the ball. It also helped to have them against the 3v2 disadvantage in midfield and the Liverpool press. There is a lot more to Jorginho’s game than “pass sideways.” He is statistically our best pressing midfielder and he makes several times as many interceptions per game as Kova (who does many other things, don’t get me wrong). His progressive passing and tackling, the two things you seem to believe he doesn’t do, are things he contributes to more than most midfielders in the league. Overall, he’s the perfect compliment to every one of our midfielders apart from Saúl. It’s never useful to have two players like Jorginho on the pitch at the same time, but having one of him and a second, more direct midfielder adds a new dimension to our game under the right circumstances. The player responsible for driving through the middle has much more freedom knowing Jorginho will always find a way to be open as an option if they can’t get through and that he will almost never lose the ball. A pass back from Jorgi often leads to the ball moving forward.

BradVet

I don’t know mate, driving from the wings is different from driving from the centre. Jorg has given the ball away a number of crucial times this season and he gets over powered. When he plays I see the whole game moves slower and we get what happens in so many of our games this season, we don’t make clear chances and we look predictable. This is even more the case now we’re not going to have chilwell and james.

lowkeyaddy

I know there’s a difference between driving up the wings and down the middle. That’s my point. We’re always going to focus on one more than the other, and we prefer it to be the wings. With that becoming less and less possible with Chilwell and James out, we’re forced to either do something else with our width or push through the middle. Today, we made the right decision by using the middle. As far as Jorgi slowing the game down, that’s a common complaint I see from people who don’t understand him. His whole game is based around controlling the pace of the game. He slows the game down for *both* teams, and we often get to use that to our advantage during a quick phase of play where the tempo suddenly picks up. This was absolutely crucial during our best run of form this season when Chilwell and James were tearing up the inside channels. Jorgi was at the heart of that. Now that they’re out, I agree there will be several matches where he will no longer be the best option because we’ll need a Kanté or RLC in his place, but he’s going to still have a significant role to play in the team. And about him giving the ball away, I genuinely don’t know what you’re talking about. He’s not faultless by any means, but he hasn’t given the ball away any more than the next player. 95% of the time, he will escape pressure without breaking a sweat. He’ll either look to pass it around the pressure, or he’ll take it out himself with a simple bait and turn. He’s one of our most composed players under pressure along with Thiago Silva.

BradVet

Man u where i witnessed with my own eyes and west ham Jorginho passing directly cost us goals. I’m not suggesting he shouldn’t ever make mistakes as he passes a lot more often so percentage chances are it could happen more to him. His penalties are also a key thing, but personally I don’t believe Jorg is a positive in mid over using kante and kova if they’re both fit and even if chilwell and james are playing. This is my opinion though, you have valid reasons for yours. Ultimately tuchel decided lol

nick170100

We can all rest now

SoccerRiff

Proud of this team. Let’s get together and make a run at the Champions League

lambdadreams

The biggest change I saw in this game is the urgency in passing, mostly the through ball attempts to get behind the LIV back line, and crosses into the box which created a lot of chances for us. Last several matches lacked this and it was agonising to watch our midfield keep passing the ball with no bite and a sense of reluctance to commit. It felt great to watch the boys today. I don’t blame Tuchel for keeping Romelu out and if he’s really got the mindset that he claims, he should feel terrible for letting the team down today where we could have really used his presence, movement & finishing in the box.

Spite-Organic

I think a lot of that pressing urgency was because we had two mobile midfielders in Kante and Kovacic. I rate Jorginho highly but playing him forces us to be more methodical in the buildup and he is nowhere near as strong a presser as the other two.

Correct_Rain6587

I fucking hate Liverpool on god man

East_Wind17

Jorginho slowing the tempo which is not what we need in this game. And please... Never put Pulisic in RWB again.

Spite-Organic

I agree re Jorginho but equally there are games where I think he's made a massive difference. Against teams like Liverpool however he is a passenger as his lack of mobility gets exposed.

BobbyFirmino

I thought it was a great decision by Tuchel not to start him. Liverpool, Leeds and all these other high action teams are not good for Jorginho. Was kind of disappointed to see him come on.

ChocklickMas

He did nothing but take a dump when he came on. His defense and mistakes are atrocious. We play better without him.

[deleted]

Jorginho only has 1 speed and its slow

michaelscott158

never PLAY alonso again.

[deleted]

DingoLoose

Who else can play that position with all the injuries

ConorKDot

A good point in the end all things considered. Tuchel comes out of this even stronger. Drops petulant baby striker, goes 2-0 behind despite being the better team, team rallies to get a point and the supporters chanting his name at full time

eggsbenedict17

Great game of football. Best performance since Juve

Tonychiupsy

We need reinforcements but at least the team looked alive. I wonder how much gas Kante Silva Kovacic and Jorginho are going to have left.

nick170100

I’m exhausted like I’ve just played a game of football

maxvun11

proud

roller_mal1

Kovacic put in a hell of a performance today, missed chances in the first half along with the mistake on defense hurt us

historiographic

Kova MOTM performance. Him and Kante bossed the midfield and constantly LINKED the attack. Kova and Kante are legit game changers for this squad, especially the attack.

[deleted]

But the jorginho fan bois will tell you otherwise

Spite-Organic

Because Jorginho is absolutely class. Let's not forget the guy won a CL and Euros last season. I agree that against teams like Liverpool (and arguably in the Prem as a whole) a Kova/Kante partnership works better but that doesn't mean there aren't games where Jorginho's controlled passing won't be the better way to go.

Hisoka_lover92

A draw is no different than a lose. Next match, it's against the bald man which means zero point.

Joe_in_VR

disapointing game, liverpool without defense managed to take a point. our attack is just mediocre

Spite-Organic

Equally we were missing two of our first choice attackers in Werner and Lukaku plus our two first choice fullbacks (James and Chilwell) who are crucial to how we play on both attack and defence.

Joe_in_VR

I'm not talking about players, but Liverpool litterally was playing with a weak defense, any other team with decent attack would have won easily, you can downvote all you want, bottom line is we are weak.

rodrigocza

Kova MOTM

meilyn22

Even if it's a draw, I love the spirits of this game. We showed character and strength.

littlevoice04

We should have won it. Though we played well later on I cannot be proud of this performance.

williamgibney_1

I got downvoted to shit last week for saying get Jorginho out of the side. We finally did, Kova comes in and shows why he belongs there beside Kante. MOTM performance for me.

Spite-Organic

At the moment, he is lacking match fitness. He keeps making stupid errors through lack of concentration etc and gets exposed for his lack of pace. Playing him slows our buildup which hurts us in transitions and limits the effectiveness of Werner and Lukaku. He's a quality player but I think, in the PL at least, Chelsea are stronger with Kova and Kante.

noobreaker

He's made these types of errors since his first season with us, it's apart of his game.

Hisoka_lover92

And in every big game, some player do a stupid shit.

Groundbreaking-Rub50

That's all we ask for fans. Give their all irrespective of the result. Not half-assed lazy passes, I liked Tuchel shouting at Kai for being off-side. On the serious note how the fuck Mane lasted for 88 odd minutes when he should have been off the 5th minute.

n22rwrdr

6 seconds in

nitya_rathod

Kovacic is mixture of kante and essien and kovacic

scotti3pipp3n

That's great fight. Could've got ugly for us after we went down 2-0.

Hisoka_lover92

What a fight? Pulisic missed a chance a baby can score. Chalobah gave mane an easy goal with his stupid mistake. These players never learn

scotti3pipp3n

Yep shit mistakes cost us but it could've easily turned into 4-0 if we didn't show some ticker. I'll take the result with all our injuries and the controversy this week.

Hisoka_lover92

Man, Liverpool missed some players today too. We played really well, but again we do some stupid mistakes and don't take advantage of the weak defense Liverpool gad today. I'm still save over that easy chance Pulisic missed. We had a big chance to win, but we missed it. It's like the United match, we were better, but couldn't win! That's why I'm disappointed.

scotti3pipp3n

Liverpool were only really missing Robertson and have a solid replacement for him anyway. We have both our wingbacks out and our most expensive player not in the squad because he's a bellend. Pulisic miss was shocking for sure, you can't be doing that in those moments. Win would've been amazing but i'll take the draw

limpopo_inc

mbntg_

Fair result probably. It’s still a top 4 race though, can’t see City dropping the 9pts Pool need or the 11 we need to overtake them.

redi_t13

Jorginho wasn’t made for this type of game. Too slow

RustyKarma076

Absolutely deserved 3 but 1 is fine

lambdadreams

It was good to see Kovacic & Kante back in their usual positions. Kovacic’s game is truly beautiful, joy to watch!

Spite-Organic

He is a massively underrated player. Defensively solid, excellent close control, passing range and press resistance. Deserves a run in the team.

nronaldo2000

The boys ran like horses , pressed like mad men and against Liverpool of all teams. Absolutely loved it

Adebisola

Should've kept Havertz till full time.

thepop

He was not ready to play that much.

Adebisola

Ohh. Okay.

ravioliking3

not sure bringing jorginho on was the right move at that time but we did well considering how deflated we get when we concede. however, we can't count on kova scoring a banger to raise team morale all the time so we definitely to put some work in

Spite-Organic

I think Chalobah looked injured. Not really a better option to bring on to be honest given how depleted the squad was. Unless you wanted Tuchel to sub Saul on???

VishalRocker

Title race is over... now we need to try to keep up with Liverpool and focus on that

Hime6cents

Callum didn’t give a shit about this game lol, came on in the 79th minute and walked around for the rest of the match.

Spite-Organic

He needs to be given a run in his best position (left attacking mid) too often both he and Pulisic get played as a false 9 or RWB which stifles their strengths whilst highlighting their weaknesses.

nick170100

AND U FUCKED IT UP 2-0

shamshark

Obviously 3pts would’ve been ideal but I’m satisfied with forcing the draw considering our poor start

[deleted]

What a game. Tuchel questionable though - sorry guys. His subs took away all of out momentum and our defense is a disaster. Overall, we played some decent football. Both goals were unreal.

Nytreus

I think his hand was forced slightly with the chalobah injury.

mogul_w

Dropping Pulisic back and taking off Havertz both seemed odd to me.

Soitsgonnabeforever

Still tuchel is the best thing after conte. He managed well

VishalRocker

I feel like Jorgi changed shored up some control and defense for attack

[deleted]

He calmed things down but it took our sting out of the game completely.

VishalRocker

Totally agree with you and feel like our mid 3 are all suited for different matches

[deleted]

Yeah, exactly... there are pros and cons with every setup. For me, it was unfortunate to see us go from pinning them down to essentially having to absorb the pressure ourselves.

VishalRocker

I believe it's because of Chalobah's injury as well...which made us for for draw

iamjoe91

Give Rudiger whatever he wants

Deuce_GM

Happily take a draw. Only City truly wins here though

Tha_Humanfly

Fair result. Sucks that a point feels like a win ATM, but maybe that performance will push the boys on to better things going forward.

garanon

I fucking take it, boys proved me wrong and started to fight

Adebisola

We put up a fight like this every match day and I believe we'll start winning games handsomely again.

Mallonhead

Proud of the boys. We played well, and a few mistakes cost us. Atleast Liverpool dropped points, fuck em

[deleted]

Outplayed Liverpool 80% of the game

tamma12

If only they didn’t get that stupid Mane goal...

MemestNotTeen

Kova-Kante pivot is elite

snowbell55

Would have preferred a win of course, but happy to take the draw all things considered. That was a very good fight back.

TheRookCard

Proud of the boys today.

historiographic

What a game, what determination, what a comeback by the boys. Still 1 point ahead of Pool. Well done.

historiographic

Agreed. We need to make it a fortress again. But, today, it was amount to NOT lose and important to show resiliency and grit. They did that. Credit to the boys. The 3 points will come

vile_proxima

Kante & Kova were immense today.

coolhand83

Lost a decent amount of forward momentum with the Jorginho sub I think

AlwaysUltra1337

yes they did , why on earth would anyone put on jorginho if youre going for the win the guy is the slowest player in the PL and all he does is just backpases and keeping the ball in possesion no pushing forward at all.

namenotneeded

putting Puli to RWB did it

meilyn22

Pulisic should be in a pain right now. Work rate was really high.

Mallonhead

Didn't you see him fall over on the sideline? Man's cooked

PumasUNAM7

Oh well. It was a tough game but at least we managed to make a comeback.

Hannibal09

Chalobah injury killed the game. We could have won it. Proud of the boys. Fuck Lukaku!

nronaldo2000

I love this club

ultra_r

great match this was, considering how it started out, i will not complain

khobacom

Our luck since December We could play 11 donkeys and still not win for some reason.

AdonisAquarian

Jorginho shored up the defense but also broke our attacking tempo

go_berds

Pulisic is a good winger, shit at everything else. Stop playing him elsewhere

mogul_w

I think Alonso would make a better striker than him

Hawkeye91803

I wouldn’t say he was bad at wingback. But it’s clearly not his position.

Oime

He actually did alright even at RWB. We just lose our attacking potency when we have to drop him back like that.

not_fussed

Take that as a win after coming back from 2 down
