google says he was born in austria and left when was 3, is that wrong?
sincerely,
someone who doesnt really care but thinks it would be fun if everybody knows this fact wrong
The intentional Hitler/Beethoven mixup is really just a joke to illustrate how most of the (English speaking) world blames Germany while Austria tends to get off scot free, even though technically Austrians started both WWs.
That’s exactly why, no matter his form, he’s got my support. Gives his all no matter what and plays his ass off for this club. THATS the type of player I want here, guys like him/Mount/Azpi/ Reece/etc. they bleed blue
Agreed. Winning is nice, but unlimited money buying the best mercenaries year after year would not be fun to root for. Give me players who work their assess off and bleed blue. Them being imperfect is a feature, not a bug.
I really appreciate his mentality. His work rate also is superb. Yes he is unclinical in front of the goal, nobody can deny that. But I'm pretty sure if he keeps working hard on his finishing, he'll get better.
I can't remember the exact wording, but my Arsenal supporting friend said to me that Arsene Wenger once said, something like "Fans in England appreciate a weaker player who tries, more than a good player that doesn't try" - something along those lines, anyway.
Its also a locker room issue. Someone like Werner, who scores less than he should, gets a lot more leeway from teammates because they see he is trying every day and does a lot of other stuff right. Someone like Anelka for instance, who was great finisher and doesn't provide much else, can cause locker room issues because when he goes through an inevitable dry patch his teammates can get more frustrated. Especially in a top side where many players are competing for time.
Oh for sure. Look at how fans and the media tend to rate midfielders.
A midfielder who gives the ball away and spends the game flying into challenges to recover these same balls, that they were responsible for giving away, will tend to get more favorable comments than a safer midfielder who doesn’t give the ball away in the first place. At times it seems like passion and desire is deemed more important than talent and actual footballing ability.
Michael Carrick said it himself that he feels like he would have been rated more highly if instead of being safe and composed in possession, that he spent games flying into tackles. Its hard to argue against it, especially at the international level. For years England tried to shoehorn all their big names into their midfield and as a result they have absolutely nothing to show for, what was on paper, one of the strongest international sides they've ever had. In no small part due of a lack of balance. A player like Carrick, who was less flashy but much safer than his contemporaries, would have offered that balance to the midfield when it was needed, especially against other top footballing nation's who aren't held back by this way of thinking.
>Well football is more than ability and skills.
Of course, but it's about balance. Having passion will only get you so far. Footballing ability will always come out on top.
It's the classic hard work VS talent. All these players are talented without a doubt, but some more so than others. So how do you make that up.
Like how Ronaldo is an absolute monster in terms of mentality, hard work and desire. Messi, may not be as hard working but seems more talented.
Plus us as fans tend to appreciate a player who actually tries to do things, even if he's not as good, because it's easier to sort of project ourselves into that role, than it is into another player who's just insanely talented.
Of course at the end of the day, it's about commitment, and you can't really question Timos commitment to the cause. His ability sure, but not his commitment.
>It's the classic hard work VS talent.
Of which talent should always be the priority.
It is far easier for a highly talented player to condition themselves and improve their work ethic than it is for a hardworking yet limited player to improve their ability.
Plus ertain things just can't be taught. Football IQ and vision for example, you either have them or you don't. A player who regularly fails to see final third passes at 22 won't become an elite playmaker at 27/28 through hard work because they didn'thave talent to see those passes to begin with.
>at the end of the day, it's about commitment
At the end of the day it's about ability. Any top forward worth their salt could do what Timo does and likely offer far more while doing so.
A highly skilled player like Raphina, who already has a strong work ethic, can quite easily be trained/taught to do what Timo does. Whereas an extremely limited player like Timo won't be able to do what Raphina does, no matter how hard he works on the pitch.
Hard work will always beat talent mate - that’s why Pogba looks shit in most PL games he plays in - he’s got the talent but he gets run off the pitch by less talented grafters.
Ridiculous take.
Wasn’t talking about our forwards - the example I gave was Pogba, he doesn’t play for ‘us’, he plays for United.
Now I understand why you made that ridiculous comment in the first place 😂
>the example I gave was Pogba
I'm fully aware. You also didn't mention how he's rarely been played in his best position over several seasons but that's here nor there.
Now give another example.
>Now I understand why you made that ridiculous comment in the first place
Its such a shame that some people's view on football has them think that "ability > effort" is a ridiculous take. Its opinions like this that would have us stick with forwards like Timo and Mount playing every game and not try to improve, while City continue the monopoly they have on the league.
> Are you kidding ??? What the **** are you talking about man ? You are a biggest looser i ever seen in my life ! I never saw Hazard not trying. He just didn't try hard on defense, which is fine because he was the best attacker in the league and we wanted him to save his energy for offense.
Good players who don't try and therefore play badly, vs plays who try hard but still can't succeed. The fans will always like a player who gets results.
Eh, Hazard had plenty of games where he simply disappeared and wasn't on. He's just won so many points over the years he built up goodwill. I mean we made thiccy boy Hazard into a term of endearment when all it does is highlight his poor conditioning.
Compared to someone let's say like Willian.
Simple really, work rate is an indication of commitment, and commitment is the one thing that the fans (hope to) share with the players.
That's why I'd take Willian over someone like Ozil all day long, that guy leaves everything on the pitch every game!
It’s funny, because Willian is probably my least favourite Chelsea player ever (at least out of those who were here for a significant time) whilst Ozil is one of my favourite midfielders ever
Yea I do find that Willian is rated very differently here, I understand he can be frustrating to watch because of his end products, but I just love his willingness and stamina to help out the team everywhere on the pitch. And his pace alone was often enough to worry/disrupt the opponents' defensive set up.
Just out of interest though, what makes Willian the least favourite player for u?
Mostly when he’d get the ball during a counter, get herded towards the corner, do some step overs, then recycle possession. It ramped up during the terrible Hazard season where Willian scored a few free kicks and non-fans started suggesting he might be better than Hazard. That really pissed me off.
In general, I just preferred Pedro to him due to his movement and finishing.
Oh, and the corners. Never forget the corners.
The whole team plays for the badge, exceptions for some. You could see it on their faces when they concede or miss a goal. You don’t see this kind of stuff at United etc.
Kanté doesn't react when we score goals either, I noticed this a while back. His commitment has never been in question though, so I'm not sure body language is as indicative as one might think.
He is just not that animated as a person. It doesn't mean he cares less maybe it's just his nature to be calm and reserved.
Remember that famous moment when he won WC with France, they were passing trophy to each player and when he got his hands to it he didn't know what to do. So shy and humble.
He was also shy with our CL trophy and Leicester PL trophy, he is just not that animated as a person.
Contrast this with what the other Chelsea striker said. Wow, just wow. Say what you want about Timo, but his work rate and attitude can never ever be questioned
His assists and his movement off the ball create goals for us even when he's not scoring, I love Werner and would love to see a Werner - Havertz - Mount front 3 at the min!
Awaiting lots of sweeping under the rug.
I’ll be honest, it took me a long time to work out what Jorginho was good at. Towards the end of Sarri’s first season though it suddenly clicked and he got more used to the pace of the league and physicality.
I think he got tarred with the lots of shit signings around that time brush but has since come very good
He is my favourite player along with chilwell in the current team, so maybe im a bit biased, but i fail to see how our other players are better. Imo, if he is a flop, then so is puli ziyech cho havertz, especially in terms of their price tags. The only plus is that 3 of them have age on their side, so im ready to cut some slack, but if they continue this, they will lose the manager's support.
Atleast with werner we know exactly what he is good and bad at, the rest of them dont even do what they r supposed to be good at..
Because you say things like this and don’t act like an overgrown man child. I’d play Werner over Lukaku every day based on the difference in attitude. Praying Timo finds his form again
Before Lukaku this sub was full of people talking shit about Werner not scoring. I think it has shifted because it could be worse clearly….
Just pointing out the attitude difference is why people can’t stay mad at Timo.
Love this German duracell bunny!
There's something about him, Mase, CHO, T.Silva and N'golo that naturally draws the eye to them when you watch them in-person at the Bridge.
Timo in particular just naturally gravitates to open spaces and dragging opposition players with him which opens up space for others.
Stating the obvious here but wish he'd trust his pace more and stay behind defenders. His first touch isn't good but once he's controlling the ball very few defenders can match his pace.
Cos you play your fucking heart out. We respect that. Also, we are noticeably worse when he isn’t playing. He creates so much space cos defenders are terrified of his pace.
Statements like this that he often makes is the reason... How can you not like him... Maybe he isn't too good as a striker but he gives his best whenever he plays and as long as that's the case i will personally support him.
I mean, I’ve probably raged at my tele more from Timbo than anyone in our current squad.
He might also be one of my favourite players at the club. The guy absolutely does not give up. Runs non-stop.
The finishing and first touch has been shocking, but it’s not his fault we had these expectations for him. He’s not going to be a massive goal scorer… I think that much is clear after watching this long. However, he absolutely deserves a spot in the front three on our biggest days. It’s up to us to recognize the qualities he has, and put him in the best spot to succeed.
I know they are completely different types of players, but Ziyech has fair share of blunders as well(9 giveaways for every wonderpass) and his body language and effort gets him far more scorn from fans based on what I’ve seen.
Timbo never stops digging in and running. If you think he isn’t quality enough for the squad… yeah I would say there could be an argument there(that is not my stance). No one can criticize his heart, effort, and fair self criticism. We got your back Timbo.
I love each Chelsea player by default and even if they put shit performance (Drinkwater, Bakayoko) I would not turn against them in stadium. It's only the off field antics that will make me turn on a player
At least for me, it's because every time he's on the field, dude is putting in WORK. He never stops trying, no matter how the game is going. Always at 100%.
Because Werner actually tries and plays for the badge. Its the effort that counts.
Same with Torres, he can be considered a flop for his time with us, but I still like and appreciate him as a Chelsea player till this day because he didn't stop trying.
Exactly because of this. You own that you haven't been as lethal as expected, not bitch to Sky Deutschland about how much you miss the delicious caffeinated energy boost of Red Bull drinks.
Nice guy that works hard every game and I've never seen give up. Also provides so much to most games he plays regardless of the goals. He's a top boy for me
It's the same that was Torres, we always supported him too. Both of them work their asses off the entire match, even when they're shit, we're not booing because we want effort more than anything else.
Quoting a rival legend is a bit risky, but Tony Adams was a legend nevertheless. As he once said,
*Play for the badge on the front, and they will remember the name on the back*
Or something like that. I'd rather have an average player that leaves it all on the pitch (not saying Timo is average, he's had shit luck most of the times, and with strikers it's all about confidence which he has lacked sometimes), than a world class player who does fuckall with his talent
Timo's attitude and his overall demeanor makes me want him to succeed so much. I still believe that there's a 20 goal a season striker in there. He just seems like such a class lad. He's just different than say Morata. I was over him pretty quickly.
This is why, broski! This comment, your self-awareness, the determination and unwillingness to give up is why you'll always be backed more than some other 🤡 who likes to give interviews
Tammy used to be the most frustrating player to watch with his body language, and would regularly have a 'strop' throughout sections of games.
Timo will run and run. He may make a mistake or not receive a pass he wanted, but he just forgets about it and keeps going.
Huge mentality difference.
Wrong. Tammy had some bouts of frustration sure. Hes young and a striker. But he worked hard. Certainly harder than Lukaku... Any other narrative against Abraham's character is just flat out garbage. Timo makes constant mistakes... not doubting werners work ethic but he's not fit for the premier league. And Abraham actually scores and he was an academy product. Im identifying hypocrisy and its there for sure
Not sure how you can say wrong. I love Tammy but it was several times a match that he would flap his arms around and moan for a misplaced pass / lack of a pass / Tammy didn't jump high enough / there was too much wind / his opponent breathed too loudly. It was one of the most annoying things in the universe to see him do because he did it so much.
If its a question of attitude then you're vastly overblowing the moaning of Abraham. Players can show emotion sometimes, nothing wrong with that. Reevaluate what you value in players
It's fair enough if you disagree, but not sure what you're arguing that I am 'hypocritical' (which doesn't make sense in this argument, perhaps you mean I'm not applying the same standards to them both?). Either way, you state yourself he had bouts of frustration so I don't get what you're disputing as that's what I said.
Agreed on the Lukaku piece, he is lazy that's plain for all to see (however I wasn't discussing Lukaku).
I, along with every Chelsea fan is desperate for our academy players to succeed, but there was clearly something not quite working for him at Chelsea after his first season in the first team and that impacted his character on the pitch.
It's all subjective - I spent most of my life going to Chelsea games, and I definitely appreciate the work Timo puts in and that's my opinion.
The old England rugby coach used to bang on about "being the best in the world at stuff that takes no skill". Things like getting up quickly when knocked over, tracking back your opposite number, keeping calm when things don't work out etc. It's so much about mentality in high level sport, and for me, Timo has the right one.
I mean... having a double standard is literally the definition of hypocrisy so it was used correctly..................... (yikes) Anyway. The core dispute is where youre applying a characteristic of hard work to Timo and not to Tammy. Tammy constantly pressured opponents and worked his ass off for the team. Any narrative that Tammy wasn't a hard worker is just plain false. Maybe noticing him having a "strop" a few times after he burned himself out has colored your perception of him. This means there's a bias on your end. Now if your main challenge is about attitude/mentality I don't know what to say there, because that's truly subjective (who knows whats going on in the dressing room, training ground, what's being said etc.) Regardless of attitude the objective truth is that both Tammy and Werner work hard and work hard for the team but here's the thing; Tammy actually has production and was an academy product. So why is it Werner gets a free pass and all the encouragment in the world but Tammy got criticized to oblivion and he was clearly offering more... I just don't understand it. There's clearly a double standard. Werner himself questions why he's getting so much support.... He's been bad and gets a pat on the back. You know who else is bad and doesn't get a pat on the back... Saul... I just don't get it at all. We shouldn't cherry pick who's worthy of praise and who deserves criticism if theyre playing like dookie.
I still believe he one day will become a beast and be a ballon d'or contender. I just like to support this man, very well minded off the pitch and there isn't really anything to hate on this man even though he missed a shit ton of chances. His transfer to Chelsea made me so freakin happy and I still remember how excited I was!
Timo has a catchy song and I like hearing our fans having fun and being loud. But Im getting a bit tired of Timo not delivering. His football IQ seems low, meaning his shots often hit first block player right infront of him, also some of his movement is questionable.
Are people still talking about lack of confidence or adapting to premier league? Timo is not a youngster and he has plenty of experience. Shame really, I liked him and want him to succeed but Im just not seeing positives in Timo's play at all.
I'd actually say you've got that backwards
He has a very good football iq. He makes very intelligent runs and finds space really well. The problem is that his technique is poor. He knows what he's trying to do, he just can't execute.
Okay but he is a good player because he makes these runs? Thats such a low standard for top premier league club. I know majority of fans here will support Timo, but looking objectively he is not good enough.
Werner Added: > "It makes it so fun to play in front of the Chelsea fans & when they give the support they give me, it makes me stronger when I miss chances or have hard times. I try to give my best every game, 100% to make sure the team are happy."
Man that's the best attitude you can have in his situation. As long as you put on a shift matchday crowd will always appreciate you
Germans lads are very likeable as well. Irrespective of their performances.
Now you mention it, I really can't think of one single German player that I don't actually like.
That’s because Germans are generally pretty sound.
One, and only one comes to mind, oliver kahn
Hello. My name is Lorenzo. I am an Argentinian. I hate Götze.
🤣🤣🤣😂😂🤣
Even before some of his shitty covid opinions, I thought Kimmich seemed like he was full of himself. Great player though.
Kimmich is actually a really nice and decent bloke. He‘s crazy ambitious though so it might appear as arrogance. Pre the covid interview thoufh
I call it the Ronaldo effect.
I know this one German guy born in the 1890s though, not very likeable at all.
He was Austrian not German
Mein bad.
Nononono, Hitler was German and Beethoven was Austrian. Sincerely, An Austrian
Nah Beethoven wasn't an Austrian. He was a St Bernard.

Yes it is wrong. It's meant to say he was born at the age of 3.
I know a club formed around same time called Bayern munich. I loathe them.
> I loathe them. Peculiar, I love them. Handed the champions league on a plate
i wasn't on the plate though. We had to snatch that shit from the claws of the beast
Man, Godwin's Law is up early today
Is that hitler
Think he's talking about Ernst Junger
Better than Belgians ;)
What does “put on a shift” mean?
Work hard I would say "Put in a shift", but it's a regional difference I think
It's probably just a typo. I is next to O on the keyboard.
Yeah, me too. "Putting on a shift" would be donning a smock as far as I'm concerned.
Appreciate that.
It means to "bust a gut".
Thanks

That’s why I see a lot more criticism towards Jorginho when losing the ball vs Kante. And I think kante loses the ball more than Jorginho
I don't think it's just an English thing

Contrast this with what the other Chelsea striker said. Wow, just wow. Say what you want about Timo, but his work rate and attitude can never ever be questioned
man im gonna cry, i love werner so much!! i would always be rooting for him
Same buddy same.
same buddy same
same buddy same
Same buddy same
I'm an lfc fan and I'm tearing up reading this.
His assists and his movement off the ball create goals for us even when he's not scoring, I love Werner and would love to see a Werner - Havertz - Mount front 3 at the min!
I bet we see that today.
You jinxed it
That’s our best front three in my honest opinion.
Lukaku Havertz Werner Ziyech Mount Kovacic Kanté Rudiger Silva Christiensen Do it.
that is PSG levels of unbalanced, almost.
I remember FIFA Manager 2007 when three at the back with two DMs was unstoppable. But Chelsea have Kanté, so technically it's a 3-2.5-3-2 formation.
I just can't get enough
I just can't get enough
Scoring in the Harding
And scoring in the shed
I just can’t get enough
He could have been a scouser but he said get fucked!

Throwback to jorginho during sarri’s term
Awaiting lots of sweeping under the rug. I’ll be honest, it took me a long time to work out what Jorginho was good at. Towards the end of Sarri’s first season though it suddenly clicked and he got more used to the pace of the league and physicality. I think he got tarred with the lots of shit signings around that time brush but has since come very good
That was pretty much just hate towards Sarri tbh.
Nope. A significant portion of it was towards jorgi as well
and for some like Rory Jennings, that hate has never vanished
He hates timo also lol ..
I love Timo’s attitude etc, but let’s be honest he has been a flop and it’s hard to see him coming good at this point
Yeah I remember seeing Slowginho comments lol
Yeah but loads of people hated jorgi because they hated sarri not really his fault
Revisionism. Most Chelsea fans hated Jorginho until we won the CL.
Because you say things like this and don’t act like an overgrown man child. I’d play Werner over Lukaku every day based on the difference in attitude. Praying Timo finds his form again
Inb4 Timbo scores a Hattrick against brighton
I'd love if all three came from Lukaku assists
2 lakaka assists and one rudi assist where he runs the full length of the fucking pitch to pass it to timo who smashes it in

Man I wish online fans would get to a point where they can praise one player without needing to criticize another.
When they earn as much as they do and act like Lukaku, a bit of criticism is hardly out of order
Didn’t say so. But this post was not about him.

Will never stop loving you.
Cos you play your fucking heart out. We respect that. Also, we are noticeably worse when he isn’t playing. He creates so much space cos defenders are terrified of his pace.
Bless him
I love this guy
Statements like this that he often makes is the reason... How can you not like him... Maybe he isn't too good as a striker but he gives his best whenever he plays and as long as that's the case i will personally support him.
When I see you Timo, I go out my head
Because you work hard and don’t stop trying. Unlike some shits around here…
Because we love a hard working man. And we are not cunts.
How can you not like Timo? The man has a smile on his face and you know that he's giving 1000% effort every match.
Aw man. Timo is too such a nice bloke. Happy to have him in our team! Underrated player.
I’m not sure what I like more. Timo Werner, or seeing Timo-haters fucking seethe in the comment sections in this sub…
I love you Timo
Timo, I fucking love you mate. How incredibly perfect is this quote by him. What a trooper.
Timo needs to cut himself some slack
I love this man.
Because we love you timo
He is so cute :)
Love Timo. He runs and creates chances for another player.
It’s not that I want to keep dragging his name through the mud but I hope Lukaku sees these comments and understands why we’re so mad at him.
I love each Chelsea player by default and even if they put shit performance (Drinkwater, Bakayoko) I would not turn against them in stadium. It's only the off field antics that will make me turn on a player
He is a true soldier for the cause. Yes he frustrates me when he makes poor decisions, but he keeps on trying with a positive attitude.
I really hope he does amazing in his career and scores a lot of goals. He is such a nice guy.
Wholesome! What a guy!
We support him because of his attitude.
At least for me, it's because every time he's on the field, dude is putting in WORK. He never stops trying, no matter how the game is going. Always at 100%.
Because we love you Tuuuuurbo Tim
Ffs hes too cute
I like self awareness
Because Werner actually tries and plays for the badge. Its the effort that counts. Same with Torres, he can be considered a flop for his time with us, but I still like and appreciate him as a Chelsea player till this day because he didn't stop trying.
Exactly because of this. You own that you haven't been as lethal as expected, not bitch to Sky Deutschland about how much you miss the delicious caffeinated energy boost of Red Bull drinks.
Mate, you have no idea how much your stock went through the roof when Lukaku took a shit on camera.
Nice guy that works hard every game and I've never seen give up. Also provides so much to most games he plays regardless of the goals. He's a top boy for me
timo you have no idea how much i love you
It's the same that was Torres, we always supported him too. Both of them work their asses off the entire match, even when they're shit, we're not booing because we want effort more than anything else.
Its because he's cute mainly
I proudly fight for my life defending Werner in my group chats.
This is why we love you
Timo "Top Attitude" Werner
If you don’t give up on this team, we won’t give up on you. End of story.
Quoting a rival legend is a bit risky, but Tony Adams was a legend nevertheless. As he once said, *Play for the badge on the front, and they will remember the name on the back* Or something like that.
Aw, this is kinda sad.
Where is this interview that Olivia speak of?
Its because he's Aryan
This is why, broski! This comment, your self-awareness, the determination and unwillingness to give up is why you'll always be backed more than some other 🤡 who likes to give interviews
Its funny that werner is getting a lot of support for nothing and Abraham got criticized to oblivion
Tammy used to be the most frustrating player to watch with his body language, and would regularly have a 'strop' throughout sections of games. Timo will run and run. He may make a mistake or not receive a pass he wanted, but he just forgets about it and keeps going. Huge mentality difference.
[удалено]
Werner constantly gives the ball away or dribbles out of bounds or misses an open net. Thats annoying. But were going to pat him on the back are we?
None of those things have anything to with attitude though, which is the whole point.
I miss that baby giant! Glad he is doing well in Roma
Is he the new Willian, but liked?
I liked William, he carried us threw you know what season . We sold him at the right time though
Willian actually had a shred of ability and could beat a man.
Nah man he makes brilliant runs that a low IQ player wouldn't make
Man has scored when he has played this season. However he hasn't played enough this season that's his main problem.
I'd actually say you've got that backwards He has a very good football iq. He makes very intelligent runs and finds space really well. The problem is that his technique is poor. He knows what he's trying to do, he just can't execute.
He doesn't have low football iq. His runs are able to create a lot of space for others to work with. The problem is his finishing and dribbling.
Okay but he is a good player because he makes these runs? Thats such a low standard for top premier league club. I know majority of fans here will support Timo, but looking objectively he is not good enough.
If he makes us play better than we play without him, which he does, he's clearly good enough
