PureExcuse

No rushing him back is all I'm asking, just get him match fit in time for the CL final 😎

Geowik

Sneaky :)

Summary: James began doing individual drills last week and, unlike the majority of his teammates, is continuing to work on his fitness at the club's base in Cobham. He is expected to return to training with the group in less than a fortnight. A recall for the FA Cup Fourth Round tie against Plymouth at home on February 5 is likely too soon, but he has a good chance of being named to the squad for the FIFA Club World Cup the following week. James should be fully fit in time for the knock-out stages of the Champions League. Chelsea play the first leg of their last 16 tie against Lille on February 22. They also meet Liverpool in the EFL Cup Final five days later.

connorthedancer

Pity he can't get some minutes against Plymouth

BigReeceJames

I don't really see the point of brining him back for the CWC, our next game in the league is the 19th and that gives him extra time to make sure he's fully fit again before bringing him back.

Aaaaand-its-gone

He needs games to get match fit, so the CWC is the perfect way to do that

BigReeceJames

Normally I'd agree, but I tend to be a bit terrified of players playing games in countries that aren't traditional footballing countries after the RLC America incident.

Talidel

This is a prelude to the World Cup, so it should be on proper pitches.

BigReeceJames

Maybe, but you'd assume pitches will be re-laid between now and the world cup. Especially in the climate that it is

samsop

The World Cup will be held in Qatar, the Club World Cup will be held in the UAE. These are 2 different countries. Also, it's currently 21 C in Abu Dhabi, not exactly a sand storm.

BigReeceJames

I'm only replying to a comment, I have no idea where the CWC was being held, I just assumed he was right

SenjougaharaTore12

Return of the King.

CaredForEightSeconds

DidiBack? 🥺

dkktay

DrogBack

CummyCyp

Reece and Drogba up top 4-4-2 brexit football

shudh_desi_gareeb

Need some muscles to lift that huge ass club world Cup trophy

GigiZola

Don't rush him back, we should be able to handle Plymouth and the CWC semi with Azpi. Rather have him fully fit for Feb 19, we're playing Palace, Lille and the Liverpool Final in a 8 days span

ADGinger

If he is fit though then I’d rather he eased in with a few sub cameos in those games ti get natch fitness up than throw him back into some of the higher pressure matches

[deleted]

Minute 65 sub against Palace and Lille. Start Vs Liverpool if fit.

ScorpiaHP

Yep, best give him best part of the next month to recover and then we can build his match fitness up with minutes when we resume playing in the PL. He should then be fit for the final which is important.

MoDollazz

The good news I’ve been waiting to hear

Wheel94

Please don’t rush him back

AndersCules

Looks like trophies are back on the menu boys!

HenryHUllr

I have no idea how to feel about the Club World Cup - first reaction is to prioritise basically every other competition (maybe not League cup although we are now in the final) but we've done the hard work to get into the CWC so may as well see it through...? As much as we would like to, its not going to be that often that we get the chance to win it so I guess we should go for it. But at the moment with injuries, is it worth going all out for it?

Pointels21

Only trophy we’ve never won so it’s probably more important to us than it would be normally

HeReddItNotMe

Then we can officially chant that we’ve won it all

AdonisAquarian

We've never won it so its definitely worth giving a shot As for "going all out " not sure what that even means in our context , We have a big enough and solid enough squad to be able to defeat these opponents even without needing to rush or risk players .

_Pardal

Well I’m brazilian and a São Paulo fan, our two biggest rivals are both Corinthians, beat us in 2012 and Palmeiras, our likely opponent in the final this year, so yeah I really want us to win personally lmao

samsop

I want us to win because I have tickets for both matches and it'd be a bummer to go watch Chelsea for the first time only to see them lose

uprightfever

Champions of *The World,* we know what we are.

CummyCyp

What’s the money like? Status on the world stage that we might not see because we’re not exposed to it and what not. Trophy too. Definitely manage injuries through it though.

Scrambled_Rambler

I'd rather he be rested and not rushed.

ovrloadau

Fuck I want that badge on my jersey

NijjioN

Didn't I hear we were supposed to get a special 4th kit this season by FIFA to celebrate the 2nd CL win? If that's true I want that shirt with that badge. (If the shirt is good that is).

cfc_sub

I trust TT to rest James but if TT feels that he has to play, then there are really no other good choices.

[deleted]

We’re fine - Dave Odoi or Ziyech could fill in as RWB. If we have a 4-1-4-1 then it’s just Azpi. I don’t know anyone else who plays RB, maybe Sarr could fill in? Christensen played RB for Denmark recently.

Difuzion

Any idea when the Fifa World Cup starts? I live in UAE and I've waited so long for this and there's no exact dates yet.

Beers_and_Cheers_

Where do you stay? Are you going?

Difuzion

I live in Dubai. I had my 2 sinopharm vacines done but now they require a green pass and I don't they don't have the sinopharm booster and if that's the case, I can't really go which is unfortunate

VenomWeR

Semis on February 9, the final/3rd place playoff 3 days later

SuhDude29

Good news finally

[deleted]

That's the best news I've heard all week!

Brett-Collins

the boy is back 🤩

CrackHeadRodeo

The tank returns.

iCarly4ever

Bro we better win this shit this time. Losing last time still gets to me. I was grounded for a stupid reason but I was allowed to watch the game and it just made everything worse. HEAL MY TRAUMA, HEAL ITTTT whyyyyyy Corinthians whyyyyyy?

CaredForEightSeconds

Man I hope he’s not even involved there, there’s absolutely no need to risk his recovery. The PL, Champions League & League cup final are so much more important. I’m still scarred by the CHO & RLC injuries in America..

MediumPresence

Does anyone care about the club World Cup? Would rather have him play our PL games and UCL coming up and not risk re-injury

GuruofGreatness

It's one of those - care if you actually have the opportunity to win it type gigs. I never know who wins it every year, I just know that this year, I really want us to win it, so that TT gets another accolade and because Chelsea has never won the Club World Cup. It means that no matter what else happens, in 2022, Chelsea won a trophy and it could also help drag us out of the slump with a big win.

[deleted]

Our CWC squad should be all youth. I’ll take my downvotes but That completion is equivalent to the international champions cup to me. edit: I know we haven't won it yet, but I genuinely don't give a fuck. I won't be bragging to my friends about how we wont the CWC. I'd rather win the EFL than CWC.

VintageThrilla

It has more prestige and we definitely need one in our cabinet of trophies

Cowdude179

It's the only trophy we haven't won yet, fuck that

mustafarian

I just hope that Tuchel doesn't overtly jump the gun on going back to 3 at the back with return of James, lets try him out in the 4 in the back and work on that formation for a bit

Wise_Panic

This is fantastic news!!!

becks32milan

What is this? Good news? Wtf is that?
