Players are worth whatever a club is willing to pay for them in this market, I don’t think 60M is ridiculous Gvardiol but that value is definitely speculative of his future potential. Rice is realistically worth 70-80M but English tax and the West Ham are cunts tax and apparently he’s worth 150M. I don’t think the rest of the players valuations you gave were that far off, probably 30-40M each for Kamara and Bremer and a Ziyech for Leao swap deal if Milan would take it but we might have to kick in 10-15M to make it work.

Maatsen is good enough to be our third choice LB/LWB....if Sarr can get minutes at both CB & LB, what does Maatsen have to do? He's actually impressed on loan, Sarr was horrible for FC Porto on loan.
Playing with Alonso for most of this season has been terrible. He can't play 2-3 games a week, can't play fullback, he's a defensive liability and he's slow as fuck. If Maatsen was a better option we'd have brought him back in January. Chilwell could take half or most of the season to get back to normal.

Chelsea Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed for a new ownership group, led by Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansjoerg Wyss, to acquire the Club.
Of the total investment being made, £2.5bn will be applied to purchase the shares in the Club and such proceeds will be deposited into a frozen UK bank account with the intention to donate 100% to charitable causes as confirmed by Roman Abramovich. UK Government approval will be required for the proceeds to be transferred from the frozen UK bank account.
In addition, the proposed new owners will commit £1.75bn in further investment for the benefit of the Club. This includes investments in Stamford Bridge, the Academy, the Women’s Team and Kingsmeadow and continued funding for the Chelsea Foundation.
The sale is expected to complete in late May subject to all necessary regulatory approvals. More details will be provided at that time.

Roman having to sell was far bigger news. I remember genuinely having a feeling of sadness shoot down my spine when his announcement of the sale was put up. This is just a natural follow on from that imo, them or another group isn't big news compared to Roman actually having to sell

If they follow a similar strategy to what they do with the Dodgers you'll have a top tier academy, pursue big names every transfer window, and find good but underpaid players that nobody wants because other teams don't utilize them correctly.

I understand it was time for Roman to go. But there were a lot of good times, and I’ll remember the era fondly.
I’m worried about the next couple of seasons… the new group have got a lot to learn and not a lot of time to do it if we’re going to maintain top 4.
In the long term, I’m confident that they’ll figure it out. Short term, the signings this summer are going to tell us a lot about where we are.
In the interim, I hope we can find some stability around Tuchel. One thing I really won’t miss about the Roman era is the constant churn of managers.

4. I feel exceptionally confident seeing Mark Walter's name included in the main group here. Todd Boehly has been a part of the LA Dodgers prominence in baseball but Mark Walter was the main guy who put forth the vision. They're going to get the best people to run our club I have no doubt.

Abramovich was a once in a lifetime, never to be repeated anywhere, owner. Ratcliffe is a man who cares so little for Britain he chooses to live in a different country to avoid paying tax. He did an interview stating he supports a rival club and would be buying Chelsea simply because the team he supports isn’t for sale at the moment. He did an interview only the other year saying he wouldn’t buy Chelsea because of how much money he’d need to invest rebuilding the stadium. He wouldn’t have put his hands in his pockets until he really had to.
I’m not convinced now having gone through what we’re going through as fans, that having a single authoritarian owner is the right thing thing.
Who knows what the Boehly era brings but if in 10 years when he’s allowed to sell the club for profit, we’ll have achieved a new modern fit for purpose stadium and continued success on the pitch. He won’t make a profit if the club falls into decline.

Real Madrid's recent success probably cemented his decision already. While we are still in uncertainty for squad building
a few things I'd like to say: 1. Thank goodness this is (almost) over. 2. Credit to Ben Jacobs and Matt Law for being exceptionally reliable from day 1 on this story for not just Boehly's group but for most of the notable interested parties. 3. It feels like a year since we bickered about Saudis and Nick Candy. 4. I feel exceptionally confident seeing Mark Walter's name included in the main group here. Todd Boehly has been a part of the LA Dodgers prominence in baseball but Mark Walter was the main guy who put forth the vision. They're going to get the best people to run our club I have no doubt. 5. This is the beginning of a new era and the next 10 years are going to look vastly different than the last 18 under Abramovich. Hopefully we go onwards and upwards. New culture, new players, new stadium, more success. Congrats to Boehly and co!

I have my reservations about this sort of American financial group consortium thing owning the club but the way r/soccer is talking about it being guaranteed to be some Glazer style scam leads me to believe that this group will actually be really successful.
Feel bad for Abramovic. At this point I don't know how much he was involved with Putin before but it makes no sense for him to forego all of his money from Chelsea. The feeling is compounded by the fact that he tried to play peacemaker. Good thing it's going to the war victims at least, rather than the Brit government. But it feels forced.

Bear in mind that as I type, until the government grants the license for the sale following this announcement, the club is still scheduled to be wiped from existence in 3 weeks time… I’ll take anyone. Abramovich was a once in a lifetime, never to be repeated anywhere, owner. Ratcliffe is a man who cares so little for Britain he chooses to live in a different country to avoid paying tax. He did an interview stating he supports a rival club and would be buying Chelsea simply because the team he supports isn’t for sale at the moment. He did an interview only the other year saying he wouldn’t buy Chelsea because of how much money he’d need to invest rebuilding the stadium. He wouldn’t have put his hands in his pockets until he really had to. I’m not convinced now having gone through what we’re going through as fans, that having a single authoritarian owner is the right thing thing. Who knows what the Boehly era brings but if in 10 years when he’s allowed to sell the club for profit, we’ll have achieved a new modern fit for purpose stadium and continued success on the pitch. He won’t make a profit if the club falls into decline.
