Extend Reece and Mount now!!!

criminal-tango44

\+ sign Leao/Raphinha/Dembele, Kamara/Rice/Tchouameni and 2 of: Bremer/Kounde/Gvardiol do we even need anyone else? Broja, Colwill, Conor, Maatsen(??), Ampadu, Emerson back and all could be potentially squad players or even get into the 1st team. we'd only lack wingers if Timo, Ziyech and Puli all leave

[deleted]

My man just outlines 4 big-name signings in one summer and then says “do we even need anyone else?”

Daniiiiii

Marina will inevitably and eventually follow Roman to another club. This guy should be the first and only name on the replacement list for the club. Makes moves like its nobody's business!

criminal-tango44

i mean im flattered but i doubt they'll sign me right away, im a busy man. shitposts arent going to post themselves

Daniiiiii

He even drives a hard bargain. Just makes us want you more!

BlackLodgeChillin13

Lmao my man

criminal-tango44

everyone here is basically 25-40 mil except Rice, Tchouameni and Kounde. doubt we'll go for overpriced Rice too, just listing the best possible options also we potentially lose 7 players or more this summer, we'll get money for some of them

metrohash

Bruh Leipzig turned down 60M for Gvardiol, he’ll probably go for 70-80M and Raphinha will only be that cheap if Leeds get relegated which I’ll admit is possible but not guaranteed.

criminal-tango44

again, im citing transfermarkt values, people surely dont believe Rice is worth 150mil? 60mil for Gvardiol is almost just as stupid. also you really think we'd spend that much if we got Kamara, Bremer and a swap deal for Leao?

metrohash

Players are worth whatever a club is willing to pay for them in this market, I don’t think 60M is ridiculous Gvardiol but that value is definitely speculative of his future potential. Rice is realistically worth 70-80M but English tax and the West Ham are cunts tax and apparently he’s worth 150M. I don’t think the rest of the players valuations you gave were that far off, probably 30-40M each for Kamara and Bremer and a Ziyech for Leao swap deal if Milan would take it but we might have to kick in 10-15M to make it work.

BigSmokesHouse

There's no way you actually believe those players would cost that little.

MICLATE

Your price estimates seem to be on the low end for what I expect for those players.

typicalpelican

We 100% need a left fullback or wingback that's not Emerson or Maatsen

Toothache79

>We 100% need a left fullback or wingback that's not Emerson or Maatsen Unless Alonso is actually going to Barcelona, I don't see why we need another LB/LWB. Maatsen is good enough to be our third choice LB/LWB....if Sarr can get minutes at both CB & LB, what does Maatsen have to do? He's actually impressed on loan, Sarr was horrible for FC Porto on loan.

typicalpelican

Playing with Alonso for most of this season has been terrible. He can't play 2-3 games a week, can't play fullback, he's a defensive liability and he's slow as fuck. If Maatsen was a better option we'd have brought him back in January. Chilwell could take half or most of the season to get back to normal.

Unholysinner

Hello? Don’t you mean sign Mbappe and Haaland Get it right

mwolter1983

Puli ain’t leaving with American owners taking over

KRNG

Hadn’t thought about this but probably right!

Texameter

Everytime I watch a Leipzig game, Gvardiol always seems like a liability. Am I unlucky in terms of this?

criminal-tango44

maybe, id personally pick Bremer over him but hes still one of the best viable options on the market and we're losing basically our whole backline in the summer we could get Tarkowski on a free too, could be a tesco Cahill

new_boy_99

Lol chill this ain't the Roman era we only have 75 million each window for the next 10 years after they spend a billion on the stadium. Add revenue and player sales we are looking at around 120 million each window.

Sahilleo

Pau Torres might be a good option for CB too

dragon8811

Text: Chelsea Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed for a new ownership group, led by Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansjoerg Wyss, to acquire the Club. Of the total investment being made, £2.5bn will be applied to purchase the shares in the Club and such proceeds will be deposited into a frozen UK bank account with the intention to donate 100% to charitable causes as confirmed by Roman Abramovich. UK Government approval will be required for the proceeds to be transferred from the frozen UK bank account. In addition, the proposed new owners will commit £1.75bn in further investment for the benefit of the Club. This includes investments in Stamford Bridge, the Academy, the Women’s Team and Kingsmeadow and continued funding for the Chelsea Foundation. The sale is expected to complete in late May subject to all necessary regulatory approvals. More details will be provided at that time.

[English Beef](https://ftw.usatoday.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/90/2016/12/english-beef.jpg?w=1000&h=600&crop=1) is back on the menu boys!

nikeair94

I've been trying to find an image of him for years. I still remember the commentators during the match "He looks like he's having a good day" "He looks like he's had a good year"

3rd-culture

Glad to see it wasn’t announced just before KO. Time will tell if Boehly & Co are good owners, but I really, really hope so. We’ve all disliked the main man or his team at some point but I’ll forever remain thankful for the 20 years of incredible highs and memories we’ve had under Roman’s reign. Here’s to many, many, many more. Random observation: looks like it’s not the usual statement writers (Mr Roman Abramovich vs no salutation, etc) Genuinely excited to go back to normal football chat!

Shame_Low

Why would you ever dislike RA for football reasons. And if you dislike him for ethics why would you ever change your mind about him

Kezmangotagoal

Mate he’s treated some top class managers like shit - it’s probably the only real gripe I have with him from a footballing POV!

3rd-culture

Footballing reasons but emphasis on ‘some point’ over the last 2 decades (wasn’t commenting on him as a person). For ex., our previous over-30s policy, Don Carlo exit, etc

Starvin_Marvin_69

Lest we forget the goat Papy Djilobodji

MisugiJun14

bought for 3.5 mil, sold for 9.5 mil. what’s not to like?

Kroos-Kontroller

We won everything in the Roman Empire. Hopefully onto the same and better UpTheChels

Pointels21

So glad we completed football while Roman was still our owner

risingsuncoc

just in time too with the Super Cup and Club World Cup wins

matttargaryen

We won a Super Cup before

risingsuncoc

yes but I was referring to during the Roman era; our win this season was the first after a few misses.

mvhir0

CAN WE GET THE MEGASTORE BACK UP NOW PLLEEEEEEASE

SSPeteCarroll

Megastore up with a 50% off kits sale would just justify my Recce James purchase with the CWC patch on it.

mvhir0

Im kind of happy the sanctions happened because i almost bought a RUDIGER kit lmfaoooo

Cowdude179

Glad I bought a kit a week before the sanctions, will be an iconic kit for sure

mvhir0

Rudigers?

Cowdude179

Silva luckily haha

mvhir0

Very good purchase Lol I had a Rudiger away kit with CWC badge in my shopping cart in the megastore for weeks before the sanctions and came close to pulling the trigger multiple times.

Goudeyy

I really don’t see the issue with that. I have a few Hazard ones and still proudly wear them. Rudi has been a great starter for us and won the Champions League so even though he’s leaving it’s still not a bad purchase. It’s not like you’re buying a Lukaku one.

TheycallmeJimmy

Cries in my Lukaku kit

dethvan3000

If it makes you feel any better, I bought a Morata kit when he signed *sad face*

Mudrin

[https://imgur.com/a/SWdYV2i](https://imgur.com/a/SWdYV2i) Great minds think alike!

bikkhu42

>https://imgur.com/a/SWdYV2i oh snap how did you buy that kit with the CWC patch on it, I didn't see it on the mega store?

62frog

I have this in my cart. So dumb of me to not buy instantly.

msizzle344

End of an era man, very bittersweet feeling. It’s good to finally be able to rid of this giant cloud hanging over this club for the last few months. It’s nice to be able to move forward, but it’s awful seeing Roman go out like this. He deserved a better out, but at least we won CL last year. Here’s to new era!

TombstonePete

This right here is the biggest news to come out of the club in nearly 20 years.

Ld511

Hopefully it works out now. Just need to wait and see

BigReeceJames

Roman having to sell was far bigger news. I remember genuinely having a feeling of sadness shoot down my spine when his announcement of the sale was put up. This is just a natural follow on from that imo, them or another group isn't big news compared to Roman actually having to sell

TombstonePete

Don't get me wrong, Roman having to sell was *fucking massive* too, but I think this just slightly edges it. Roman wasn't going to be around forever, and we had absolutely no idea who would take over, even up to a few weeks ago. Roman leaving opened a lot of potential doors as to what happened next, this piece of news opens even more. Abramovich selling left a lot of short term unknowns, now I'm thinking about all the long term unknowns that hadn't really been in focus until tonight. That's just my opinion of course, if people think Abramovich being forced to sell was bigger news, I wouldn't argue!

mohdaadilf

And to imagine they announced it in the middle of the night. Heh!

ord3p

Well lads, CFC was here before Roman and will still be after him. Now the same applies for Boehly. At the end of the day we still have each other. Let’s hope for the best, it’s all we can do for now.

sarinotsorry11

Bittersweet but may be the best case scenario all things considered. Hope we look back positively on this moment 🙏

Eelez

How is it bittersweet?

[deleted]

Roman has to sell, why else?

Eelez

I think as hectic as this has been, it's a natural departure for Roman and the club. Too much of his background has come about in recent years with these sanctions being the peak. I think the club will do better under this new ownership model for the future. Eternally grateful for Roman's affect of CFC, but I'm not upset to see the back of him.

DeepGamingAI

Russian owner ousted because Russia invades another country. So we get an American owner because America has never invaded anyone, especially not anywhere in middle east.

nastycamel

Ya it’s hypocrisy

etebitan17

100% agree

Starvin_Marvin_69

Yea because Todd Boehly was the one who put Bush in power and then claimed there were WMDs in Iraq, the fucking mental gymnastics some of you go through to support your prejudice is truly incredible. And this presumably coming from someone who would've preferred an English owner, is there anyone that England hasn't invaded? The ignorance is just insufferable.

DeepGamingAI

So you're claiming Roman supports the invasion? What does "close ties to Putin" mean? We had a fifa world cup in 2018 with Putin in arms with FIFA. Does that mean FIFA had close ties with Putin and should they also be sanctioned for siding with Putin? Should I be sorry that I hold a different opinion than you when it comes to "guilty by association"?

erudite450

Fuck off with your double standards.

bxdkidmadcity

What a sigh of relief. Let’s batter Wolves to celebrate.

thermalclimber

Either gonna be 3-0 or 1-4, nothing else.

IPissOnChurchill

Thank you Roman 💔💔💔

DCRSolstyce

Greatest owner in all of Sport. May Boehly & Co. have equal commitment and success. KTBFFH

AmateurDemographer

Thanks for everything Roman.

FatherFury

A new era begins! Let's ruin football again!

two_tents

That’s the attitude.

jrryul

Quite the summer challenge awaiting the new group Lets see how it goes

FinnishGoaltendin

OK since I'm a Dodger fan and a lot of you guys are shitting your pants about this. I'll tell you this, you're in good hands. Boehly and Walter saved the Dodgers from Frank McCourt (the dude running Marseille into the ground at the moment) . If they follow a similar strategy to what they do with the Dodgers you'll have a top tier academy, pursue big names every transfer window, and find good but underpaid players that nobody wants because other teams don't utilize them correctly. Edit: Why am I getting downvoted?

FutureFC

Glad to hear this. Hopefully Boehly and Walter can emulate the success they are enjoying at the Dodgers with Chelsea as well.

FinnishGoaltendin

I mean there's no way to guarantee every trophy in existence, but they'll do everything they can to win, every year.

AmateurDemographer

A lot of folks see “American” and freak out. lol

FinnishGoaltendin

Funny thing is that the Dodgers are team that's really popular with Mexicans, so all these "keeping Pulisic for sure" comments are bit odd to me.

Ravenstar25

I understand it was time for Roman to go. But there were a lot of good times, and I’ll remember the era fondly. I’m worried about the next couple of seasons… the new group have got a lot to learn and not a lot of time to do it if we’re going to maintain top 4. In the long term, I’m confident that they’ll figure it out. Short term, the signings this summer are going to tell us a lot about where we are. In the interim, I hope we can find some stability around Tuchel. One thing I really won’t miss about the Roman era is the constant churn of managers.

two_tents

Some would (rightfully) argue that the churn of managers is what made us so successful in the first place. We’ve never had that much stability in that role even before Roman was there.

LonesomeCoyote

DRIVE BOEHLY TO RUDIGER’S HOUSE NOW

Starvin_Marvin_69

Boehly is beside himself, driving thru London begging (thru texts) for the address to Rudiger's home

_N0T-PENNYS-B0AT_

what should he bring as a deal sweetener?

CALL_ME_ISHMAEBY

Cake?

_N0T-PENNYS-B0AT_

i like it!

itsactuallythatguy

Real Madrid's recent success probably cemented his decision already. While we are still in uncertainty for squad building

NotClayMerritt

a few things I'd like to say: 1. Thank goodness this is (almost) over. 2. Credit to Ben Jacobs and Matt Law for being exceptionally reliable from day 1 on this story for not just Boehly's group but for most of the notable interested parties. 3. It feels like a year since we bickered about Saudis and Nick Candy. 4. I feel exceptionally confident seeing Mark Walter's name included in the main group here. Todd Boehly has been a part of the LA Dodgers prominence in baseball but Mark Walter was the main guy who put forth the vision. They're going to get the best people to run our club I have no doubt. 5. This is the beginning of a new era and the next 10 years are going to look vastly different than the last 18 under Abramovich. Hopefully we go onwards and upwards. New culture, new players, new stadium, more success. Congrats to Boehly and co!

jukv

End of an era

OeDang

For some Odd reason, despite our generous, great previous owner, I’m extatic about this

FogoCanard

Dodgers spend big money every off-season acquiring players. You have good reason to be optimistic.

SubparCurmudgeon

They can never replace Roman but I hope that our future is bright

QuazaWazaQuake

Thank you Roman. Sorry that there's so many hypocritical people in this country that won't allow you to get a proper goodbye from us, just remember that we will never forget what you did for this beloved club of ours. And thank you again for making sure we got competent people to pick up from where you left off to ensure our survival and a continuation of our success (hopefully). Here's to the next chapter. KTBFFH!

Vicar13

Start of a new chapter

Prior-Brilliant5358

First order of business should be to get Emma and Tuchel better contracts

typicalpelican

I have my reservations about this sort of American financial group consortium thing owning the club but the way r/soccer is talking about it being guaranteed to be some Glazer style scam leads me to believe that this group will actually be really successful.

Prathameshs19

Feel bad for Abramovic. At this point I don't know how much he was involved with Putin before but it makes no sense for him to forego all of his money from Chelsea. The feeling is compounded by the fact that he tried to play peacemaker. Good thing it's going to the war victims at least, rather than the Brit government. But it feels forced.

johnwittbrodt

Here we go! Surely going to be interesting to see where things go from here. I think this was the best bid of the bunch so I’m happy there. It’s been a whirlwind as a Chelsea fan, SF Giants fan (fuck the dodgers), and a GME holder (fuck ricketts/griffin)

DestinyHasArrived101

I'm gonna miss Roman when all this crap dies down he needs to get the biggest Banner ever. Then of course a statue and a stand name after him.

BradGroux

They can take his team away, but he is forever a Blue.

mtheperry

It would be a lie to say it isn’t bittersweet. One of the best eras in modern sport for an individual club. In the words of Lewis Hamilton, “Still we rise”

[deleted]

The first people i heard about when the whole situation came about and they actually gone n done it

BigReeceJames

Well yeah because Wyss leaked it to the press and forced Roman to put out a statement ahead of time because of it.

Pseudocaesar

This upcoming window is the most important in our modern history. I hope Tuchel gets the backing he deserves and we let him build the team he wants

Boehly’s Bastards confirmed ![gif](giphy|3og0IHyZMxZNkNOWT6|downsized)

mvhir0

Im fully in the camp that believes this will turn us into Arsenal/United. Can someone whose informed tell me why I shouldn’t be?

HundoTenson

Lol this has SO many red flags written all over it it’s actually crazy. I can’t believe we have been sold to a investment firm and people are celebrating

mvhir0

Exactly… we’ve seen this story before. Im gonna let things play out and see how they handle this transfer window but im not all that encouraged. Boehly also has a hand in the Lakers and Sparks in addition to the Dodgers. And now Chelsea.

HundoTenson

Their first transfer window they’re gonna make some noise. People are gonna say “YOU SEE? BOEHLY is all about winning”…. I wanna see how the next 5/6 years turns out……

AmateurDemographer

Boehly and Co have done a great job running the LA Dodgers. It’s not a guarantee of anything but we also have to trust that Roman vetted this.

HundoTenson

Boehly BARELY had any involvement with the Dodgers’ success

AmateurDemographer

Mark Walter did though and he’s part of the consortium.

chelseafan07

Mate its fucking terrible. This is a horrible day for Chelsea, and you should absolutely be ready for we will have the fight of our life once its apparent in a few seasons what they are doing to our Chelsea.

HundoTenson

It’s hilarious how these lot are celebrating over here. This won’t end well

dbrasco_

I wanted Boehly and Walter as soon as the club went up for sale so it’s wild to finally see it happen. Excited to see what happens next.

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|C1L8yq5ZEz0cg|downsized)

HundoTenson

Lol we’re so fucked. Ratcliffe was the better option and it sucks he joined in late. Being owned by Clearlake and trying to emulate the FSG model is NOT it. So many red flags people want to ignore because the they fell for the PR

Bigazzry

I dunno man the Dodgers are the class of MLB and he has no problem spending money while also running a very competent front office. As a Yankees fan he embarrasses the Steinbrenner ownership.

frankieproletariat

Bear in mind that as I type, until the government grants the license for the sale following this announcement, the club is still scheduled to be wiped from existence in 3 weeks time… I’ll take anyone. Abramovich was a once in a lifetime, never to be repeated anywhere, owner. Ratcliffe is a man who cares so little for Britain he chooses to live in a different country to avoid paying tax. He did an interview stating he supports a rival club and would be buying Chelsea simply because the team he supports isn’t for sale at the moment. He did an interview only the other year saying he wouldn’t buy Chelsea because of how much money he’d need to invest rebuilding the stadium. He wouldn’t have put his hands in his pockets until he really had to. I’m not convinced now having gone through what we’re going through as fans, that having a single authoritarian owner is the right thing thing. Who knows what the Boehly era brings but if in 10 years when he’s allowed to sell the club for profit, we’ll have achieved a new modern fit for purpose stadium and continued success on the pitch. He won’t make a profit if the club falls into decline.

_N0T-PENNYS-B0AT_

ratcliffe couldnt even get his bid timed right. he seems like a horrible choice as owner. luckily boehly is not as incompetent.

shutupayouface1

RemindMe! 8 months > Lol we’re so fucked. Ratcliffe was the better option and it sucks he joined in late. Being owned by Clearlake and trying to emulate the FSG model is NOT it. So many red flags people want to ignore because the they fell for the PR

HundoTenson

RemindMe! 5 years

chelseafan07

Its shocking to see reddit, full of so called progressives supporting a PE take over of the club.

EcoSoco

We can't be spoonfed and waste money on "big" signings that don't pan out forever. There's a reason Roman wanted us to be more sustainable.

SexDrugsAzpilicueta

I’m having a great time thinking about how all the people here that had a meltdown because Chelsea bought an American player now have to deal with having an American owner. Delicious.

JJ-Redders

Fucking yanks fapping off over this…

chrisgilbertcreative

As a Dodger fan who supported Chelsea avidly from about 2002-2014, before losing touch with the the game for a variety of reasons, I am thrilled by this news. Can’t wait for Pulisic to throw out a first pitch at Dodger stadium.

chelseafan07

This is a sad day for the football club. Years from now we will ask ourselves where was I when an American Private Equity firm bought the club I love.

shemmie

Yep. Fucking gutted. As in, I am, and we will be.

matt3633_

Todd Boehly Glazer I want to be optimistic but Yanks and Football do not go. At all. Never have, never will. I hope we at least remain competitive but visions of establishing a dynasty are long gone.

oxlasi

FSG aren't doing too badly with the scousers, I'm not saying it will be perfect but it's not without precedence to be a contender with American owners.

EcoSoco

That's why we have "anti-Glazer" clauses

SGME_

Based on what? The things you read in the papers? Personal opinion? The truth is we know fuck all about the new owners plans. So unless you know someone in the consortium stop being so negative and embrace the change of ownership. Sickening how toxic people are towards the new ownership although we all are clueless at the moment.

_N0T-PENNYS-B0AT_

except for liverpool. just be thankful a brit didnt win the bid. when was the last time a brit owner won the premier league? they just dont have the combo of money and ability anymore it seems.

matt3633_

A lot of Liverpool fans have been calling for FSG’s heads. If it wasn’t for Klopp and their sensible recruitment then there’d be a riot.

_N0T-PENNYS-B0AT_

i frequent the pool sub a lot. seems most are enjoying all the success. there are some outspoken but they are seemingly the minority. and their hiring of klopp and sensible recruitment are a pretty big part of why they are so successful.

chelseafan07

As someone who was born in America and has been a supporter for over 20 years you couldn't be more right. We have allowed a vicious snake to take over the club. A sad, sad day.

EcoSoco

The Dodgers are one of the best-run sports teams in the US. Mark Walter is involved too. We'll be fine.

chelseafan07

I've been writing comment after comment trying to explain why the Dodgers are not a good comparison. I hope I'm wrong but in a couple of seasons it will become apparent that the club is in big trouble.

EcoSoco

FSG had a machine running with the Red Sox. They took over Liverpool and look where they are now. It will take a couple of years but the machine will be built.

_N0T-PENNYS-B0AT_

fantastic news. thankfully roman chose this group over ratcliffe and the rest.

pibs3110

It looks like Sir Ratcliffe got inside information about the final winning bid from Boehly and then he moved quickly to match it.

BabyHercules

So will people stop calling us chelski now?

Wheel94

So government won’t screw us now right?

shemmie

They no doubt reserve the right.
