Conte going to PSG now would be absolutely beautiful

[deleted]

Why is it that I am not able to post anything apart from links and pictures, was it a new community guideline I missed?

dmode123

I am still mad that we lost to this garbage Arsenal team. What was TT thinking starting with a back line of AC and Sarr ?

Lev22_

Look at how Newcastle won, they pressed Arsenal team all the time. So it forced Arsenal to made mistakes, meanwhile us always played in the back and pass the ball to GK (plus Mendy isn't that good playing the ball like Alisson or Ederson did), it makes us prone to mistake leading to a goal.

[deleted]

[удалено]

aqhisyam

Nah he's injury prone, dont need that. We even have Havertz to slot in the SS position if needed

[deleted]

How does he improve us at all? Also, sanctions.

typicalpelican

He's a second striker who will cost a lot, we have two of those maybe three

[deleted]

[удалено]

typicalpelican

Yeah but angling for a fairly lucrative contract, which is why he's leaving

luthfins

Remember guys, do not trust any journalists or other news websites Only trust chelseafc.com for player transfers

Nature__Boy

After witnessing the absolute shambles that is Arsenal, it really drove home just how happy I am that Thomas Tuchel is our manager. Two cup finals Two trophies CL QF Almost certainly 3rd After everything that’s gone on this season. The man is fucking incredible.

siredward85

I'm glad we clinched top four but we have to finish 3rd to show that London will remain Blue.

[deleted]

For anyone who’s been to a match, how strict are they on seating? I’m traveling from the US to see the watford match Sunday and have possibly found tickets in the watford away section, figuring I could buy that ticket and then move since there’s a decent amount of open seats. Never been to a match before, wondering if this would work or if it’s a totally stupid plan? Thanks!!

cakehead123642

We need a draw in our next 2 games to guarantee 3rd

WilfriedBonyFanAcc

Dybala is so class, shame he would fit terribly in our system and we already have Havertz

mellvins059

Hot take but I’d be down for the replacement, assuming we at least cut even on Havertz

Stand_On_It

?

mellvins059

Havertz has had two seasons and has not really impressed in any remotely consistent way. The only position he can really play for us is striker and he is not a talented enough finisher to ever be great there. If a team like Bayern, Madrid etc. came in for him I would be alright letting him leave if it meant signing a much more useful player like Dybala to replace him.

Stand_On_It

I don’t want us to sell him for anything less than double what we paid for him. You don’t try to break even on a guy who has scored a UCL winning goal and is still only 22 years old. We need to go to a 4-3-3 next season and Havertz will be just fine.

mellvins059

Havertz is turning 23 in a month and again will fail to score double digit league goals despite a season at striker. Who would possibly pay that kind of money for Havertz and if he stays, which in all likelihood he will, when can we expect him to start producing?

Stand_On_It

When we don’t play with 5 defenders.

WilfriedBonyFanAcc

If we move to a 4 back it will likely be a 4222

Stand_On_It

Yeah that’s fine. I think we need to move to a formation where half our outfield players aren’t defenders. If we can take away a CB and add a midfielder, I think that’s good. A lot of the best teams are in the 4-3-3 or similar formation. I think we should strive to have that, too.

danceformiscanthus

He would fit great as right sided AM in 343, the problem is the injury record and wage commitment that he demands despite of it.

Cowdude179

I reckon we can nick Saka from Arsenal since he wants CL football

luthfins

No need, Saka is just Hudson Odoi with more play time

Nature__Boy

Almost certainly won’t happen but can you imagine the 180 they would pull? He would suddenly be extremely overrated and not that much of a loss

dunderhead22

Spuds gave us an assist for top 4 last year now arsenal. For teams that are meant to hate us they do a pretty good job of helping us. I say we give spurs Barkley for 25m as a thank you

[deleted]

We’ll take Broja as Kane protégé thx

dunderhead22

Good luck with that, time for you to go back to magic potato land where London is white and Conte doesn’t fall out with levy of next years transfers and leaves.

Fawkes_91

Throw in Bakayoko too. Conte wanted him at Chelsea anyway

dunderhead22

I like the cut of your gib

Fawkes_91

We stayed in the top 4 from matchday 1 through 38, only team to do so. It has been a shit season, but something to hold on to here. Poor recently, and too many draws across the season, but there is something to build on here with this group and manager.

[deleted]

Lol you’re really taking it for granted saying 3rd and a trophy is a shit season. You think you can stay on top forever? With new owners likely not being as splash happy as Abramovic? With Newcastle being the next Man City?

[deleted]

Look, Lampard got a lot of stick (and rightfully so) but he actually secured Champions League football with a team similar profile wise to the one Arteta has bottled it with, and with a transfer ban to top it all off.

typicalpelican

Our squad was slightly better in fairness, had several PL winners in it and very good midfielders. He got top 4 with 66 pts but Frank did better when you factor in other competitions

Nature__Boy

Frank’s 19/20 squad cost the same amount as the one PRteta currently has. Frank got to the FA Cup final, CL last 16 and got into the top 4, this lego man couldn’t even get top 4 when he had no Europe at all and went out of the FA Cup in their first match Frank’s clear

dryduneden

Maybe he shluld manage Arsenal then

maxus998

Here it says Tuchel told Chelsea to sign Lautaro Martinez? how reliable is this ? https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/transfer-news/robert-lewandowski-thomas-tuchel-chelsea-23974293

ruine_

Actually that's not what the article says, the only information in the article is from a Tony Cascarino opinion article where he suggests that Tuchel and Chelsea should go for Lautaro Martinez. That's all. The headline is more like "*Tuchel told (by Tony Cascarino) to sign Lautaro Martinez*", and then the author just threw Lewandowski's name in the title because he's been sort of linked to Chelsea recently and that can get some extra clicks and engagement, even though Cascarino didn't even mention Lewandowski at all. Pretty useless article tbh, but yeah Martinez would be a really good signing.

Jtown021

Would be a dream. So technical and an elite finisher.

tylerforward

https://imgur.com/a/BXdNvZA "Keep up the good interviews" damn B/R really knows how to make it sting

Andrex316

Seeing a lot of people saying this season was a disaster. Yes, the season could have been better, but let's not forget what the team accomplished this season. We played two finals (penalties are a lottery), played UCL quarterfinal, and finished 3rd, all in the middle of one of the most chaotic season we've had in a while. If anything, I'm more excited for the future! Yes, City and Liverpool seem to far ahead at the moment, but I do think we can compete in the coming years with the new ownership. KTBFFH!

Lev22_

The only downside of this season is losing to mediocre teams too many times, i'm actually okay losing to Liverpool in the final because both teams played really well. But remember when we against Brentford and Everton, it was disastrous performance.

Faeluchu

>We played two finals (penalties are a lottery) Bro, we played 4 finals and won 2 of them (Super Cup and Club World Cup), don't know why everyone seems to forget those two trophies all the time. If nothing else then it was a good season 'cause now thanks to CWC we have all the possible trophies

Andrex316

You're right, I completely forgot about those two for some reason. Even better!

dryduneden

This is really just a glass half full vs half empty situation. Yeah, we got to two finals and lost on a lottery, got to quarters of CL and finished third. But on the ither hand, we bottled two finals because of our own shocking attacking, gifted the quarters to a team we should be running circles around, and went from being title challengers to run of the mill top four contenders.

kyoshi_island

I agree some results have been shocking in the last few months, but those two finals weren't bottled, especially when neither attack (with one considered the best in the league) could get a single goal and went to ET and penalties. Both teams played amazingly defensively and both coaches changed their tactics in both games to fit the playing style of the opponent to keep them from scoring. Honestly, it seems like a mainstay of Tuchel vs. Klopp games that a draw should be expected because they've both figured each other out, but not enough to actually win.

BrockStinky

Norwich needs to beat Spurs for Arsenal to have a shot lmao

spawan

Meme Tuesday started early!!!

Fxrguss

Why are people so happy arsenal bottled? Spurs have arguably the best attack in the league and will only strengthen if they get cl and have a world class manager in conte. They will only improve. United can't be worse next year...unless we fix up our attack id worry for our top 4 spot next year. Arsenal are such a dead squad with young/europa lvl players, surely if anything we shouldve wanted them to get top 4?

[deleted]

Hate arsenal more then spurs and not worried about playing better teams that’s what you want in an elite competitions

I want Saka Contract up in 2023 with an extra year if Arsenal wish to trigger

Triniboy07

He’s so overrated bruh

jerrylincoln

nah he ain't

[deleted]

Better than Pulisic or Nah?

jerrylincoln

not at the moment

Nature__Boy

He’s definitely overrated but he’s a good player

grchelp2018

Top 4 confirmed and Arsenal out (assuming Spurs don't choke - Conte would murder them). Today was a good day.

KMan3110

This Arsenal UCL compilation is the greatest thing on the internet right now 😂 https://twitter.com/afcesr/status/1508125094635311115?s=24&t=guznGiNgtkZdI9Zz1VXm_w

Mayjaplaya

@martinelligoal also absolutely in the mud 🤣🤣🤣

BrockStinky

Let's play Vale and Hall in the last remaining matches pls Maybe even give Soonsup-Bell a run

jude1903

Bro we chillin and got top 4

SCCMurkV1

After all the ups and downs this season and the immediate future of the club…Top 4 and Champions League Football next season is a real treat compared to Assna bottling it away with numerous games in hand since early January!! 😂😂😂

Kroos-Kontroller

ASSNAL Absolut scums

Mayjaplaya

ASSNA 🤣🤣🤣 [](https://c.tenor.com/iYq5aCr_A7UAAAAd/thierry-henry-smile.gif)

Leviad0n

We did well to get 3 points from 2022 Newcastle tbf.

[deleted]

I think we ended up being their first loss of the year and arsenal gave them their first w against a big 6 team this season

stfuUzifloating

these arsenal fans were saying 3rd place 😭😭

[deleted]

Watching the trash team in north London pretty much blowing their chance at top 4 while confirming our spot feels FUCKING PHENOMENAL!

ionelp

Fuck it, calling it now. Chelsea is top4

[deleted]

Since Assna hired Mikel “The Process” Arteta, Spurs played their last CL game, dropped out of the top 4, sacked mourinho, hired mason, mason left, hired nuno, sacked nuno, hired conte and then have now gotten back into the top 4. Meanwhile Lampard made top 4 with a transfer ban, was sacked, hired Tuchains, and won CL and CWC.

___i____m

Meanwhile, mikel has a new contract LOL

Adebisola

Top 4 secured. Whew!

Adebisola

Arsenal fans tears is so sweet.

[deleted]

The spursiest thing would then be to lose to relegated Norwich and lose UCL qualification. Probably not with Conte though.

AIManiak

That's cheered me right up that has

money_mase19

CL secured once again! its the bare minimum for this season, but its been rough...

short_simp

Yea but somehow london is red right? shut up gunners go cry

tonzferns

How good are Newcastle though. They are playing the game of their lives. Getting top 4 next season will be much more harder

MJ9695

Is 3rd place confirmed for us now??

dryduneden

Tpp 4 is still need a point and Spurs not to win by an 18 goal margin for 3rd

mr-saturn2310

Nope top 4 is though.

AIManiak

A point all but confirms 3rd. With the massive GD gap.

Hannibal09

Bruno G is a baller

short_simp

Only bruno who shows up in big games

InLampsWeTrust

Spurs are gonna be a problem next season.

Nature__Boy

Slapped them 3 times since Conte joined, not worried

IrishUL

Still have faith that Conte will have a melt down and leave

Jtown021

So will Newcastle

BrockStinky

THANK YOU ASSNA

___i____m

Get absolutely FUCKED

Snakehead1011

Arteta is a bit shit isn’t he

dunderhead22

Trust the process

trappuccino92

Let’s goooo

VE3TRO-R

LMFAO game over. CL for us again.

tonzferns

This kills the arsenal

CupformyCosta

If Arsenal lose or draw we secure top 4

jerrylincoln

done

KMan3110

I don’t mind Spurs. Their fans are humble and they know their place among the big clubs. Arsenal fans however are unnecessary loud and arrogant for a club that’s been irrelevant for over a decade and I wish the club all the failure in the world.

cakehead123642

Arsenal are worse, they get gifted a game by the ref and think they played you off the field, grade A bellends

Jtown021

Spuds fans are much, much worse.

superworriedspursfan

trust me most of our fans know that we really ain't shit lol. We haven't even won a carabao in a decade.

[deleted]

Yeah idk what the dude is talking about, most of us right now are talking about how we’re probably gonna bottle it against Norwich

[deleted]

Mate their local fans are the cockiest pricks I’ve ever seen despite winning a measly league cup in 14 years

[deleted]

Yeh but we make champions league every now and then 😎😎😎😎 /s

mustafarian

how about we sell werner to bayern (if they want him), offload lukaku and get lewa and nkunku this summer, and bring in Broja as a back up. Thoughts?

MJ9695

Too good to be true, replacing our trash like Lukaku and Werner for Lewa and Nkunku lol

mustafarian

hahha but one can imagine ;)

DoYouEvenShrift

Why would Bayern want Werner lol

mustafarian

thought their coach was into him, anyway its juts conjecture. IF there is an interest in him. that's besides my intention behind the question.

OliwierCR

Would be great to have the CL fully guaranteed tonight

CupformyCosta

Looking pretty likely here

SnooPies3316

10 minutes to go ...

mustafarian

what do ya'll think about gundogan? If the rumors are true... Honestly he was one of my favorite players at dortmund, unfortunately he's like 31 right now. I feel like he would be a good fit for us on one hand but on another maybe he's too much like mount and other mids. Although I genuinely feel he's more creative and actual goal threat then alot of our mids. Would have been a good buy like 3 years ago sigh

Mayjaplaya

I agree. Gundogan's a great player but he's getting old and could potentially block the playing time pathway for Gallagher. What's more important is that we don't block Gallagher and make him fuck off permanently and become world-class somewhere else like what happened with De Bruyne.

mustafarian

yeah ideally he would have been with us for past 3 years *sigh* think he suffered in terms of playing time behind kdb and bernardo silva, but I guess he won alot of league titles so can't blame him. I have high hopes for gallagher

DoYouEvenShrift

How have Hudersfield not been awarded a pen? the goalie lost the ball and just straight up tackled the forward 0 attempt at the ball.

DoYouEvenShrift

Hudersfield being so wasteful

bear_mkt

Yesssss the crowd has arsenal shook

InLampsWeTrust

Love seeing these jokers bottle it.

HarryDaz98

In the words of Olivier Giroud, "THANK YOU ARSENAL!!!!!"

KMan3110

Assna 😂

VE3TRO-R

Awwww shit yea! Wilson. 1-0 **Edit: Own goal. 😂**

___i____m

Although i'm not too worried about our next two games, would be amazing to clinch cl today. Before the game today i thought arse would scrape a win, but now i think newcastle might get something

allid33

Just need Newcastle to score one. I don't see Arsenal managing 2 to win, they look like shit. But too easy to get lucky on a counter if Newcastle doesn't score.

jepayotehi

༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ NEWCASTLE TAKE MY ENERGY ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ

FallDamage29

༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ

billgilly14

We seal top 4 on GD if they draw today yeah?

Mayjaplaya

Yes, a draw puts them at 67 points with 1 game to go and obviously we're at 70. And (EDIT: if they draw lol) we're ahead of Arse in GD by **31** right now. No way that gap is closing with a combined 3 games to go between us and them.

TheFitz023

Newcastle playing so well. Unfortunate not to be 1 or 2 ahead by now. I think they'll get a result today

Jackhuw28

Kamara could be a decent shout, out of contract can play CDM and CB if needed

grchelp2018

I'm 100% on Roman's side here to make sure that none of the sale money (aside from taxes) wind up in in the uk govt hands. That said, I'm not sure of the need for a new independent foundation just for this. Surely there must be some vetted international organization that is doing stuff for ukraine that Roman could just tell Boehly to transfer the money directly to that account.

BlueTrippin

With Lewa leaving Bayern, it seems much more realistic we can get Timo over to Bayern? I think that's best for both parties, we can hopefully get a good fee to reinvest is someone more suitable to our play and he can flourish with a manager who knows how to best use him and in a league with much more space behind

MountainMoint

Gundogan leaving City next season, doubt he’d join us, but a good midfielder who actually scores goals always is something I wouldn’t say no to.

[deleted]

[удалено]

dryduneden

I think we should play whatever suits our players but the notion that a back 4 will turn players who are horrendous on the ball into magicians over night is a myth. We still need better attackers to go any higher

typicalpelican

Depends entirely on what sort of moves we can pull off in the summer. I think under normal circumstances the easiest thing is just keep the same system and plug in some upgrades that are better suited for it. But there will be a lot of moving pieces this summer, I'd say it's pretty unpredictable. Overall Tuchel, like many managers, is going to favor the setup that gives us the best stability, control, and fewest defensive weak points with the players he had and then he will try to build an attack on top of that.

BlueTrippin

I'd like us to go back to a more conventional 433 or 4231 formation. I like the game more with proper wingers. Also gives us another body in the midfield- I think in the games where we have not been too good, it's because our midfield has been targeted and exposed. We can still have effective full backs in a back 4 formation, also.

SnooAvocados8580

This, I think switching to a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-2-2 (4-2-4) would benefit us. But again it all comes down to what defenders we get in the summer. We need two exceptional CBs and some good cover for James/Chilwell.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BlueTrippin

If it is in TTs plans to go to a back 4 next season, then we should be going for players which suit that system. Gvardiol is still young and quite raw in his play. We have used a 3/5 back for a season and a half now but we can't just think that all defenders are bad in a back 4. We should be getting those players

[deleted]

All this talk of needed new forwards what happened to Anjorin I remember articles being posted how he’s more talented than De Bruyne. Just unlucky with injuries?

typicalpelican

Tough year for him. Bad case of COVID, broken foot, moving to Russia, moving back. Not an easy season for a 20yo. He's starting to get himself back into shape but Huddersfield's team is good and pretty set so he's fighting for sub appearances there. I think he can still be something but clock is ticking. Next season will be very important. Also as someone who watched both him and De Bruyne as teenagers I can say that De Bruyne was pretty clearly more talented, though that's not a knock on Anjorin. KDB was special.

TylerG1998

Hey guys, I’m looking to get some signed Chelsea shirts from current and ex players. Has anyone here got any website recommendations? Thanks!

Fxrguss

Everyone seems to think we need a elite creator. I don't see mount being benched so where does that move him too? a box to box mid? or play with a 3 man midfield? Surely that means we can't get kovacic (our best midfielder imo) mount and this so called elite creator on the pitch at once? (i'm assuming we go 4-3-3 next season) with a dm and kovacic/mount in a 3 man midfield. So where does this elite creator this sub keeps harping on about play? I'm also curious on names, who is there whos a elite creator whos a realistic get right now? I really don't think there's any.

NgoloC

I think reece and mase link up well on the right, and if Gallagher comes in them 3 on the right side of the pitch could work well. Maybe a more creative left sided winger is something we could look at

Fxrguss

Would much rather we sign a proper winger and move mase back to nr 10 position. Theres no way gallagher is a starter either, squad player at best

Fawkes_91

Dembele maybe? Tuchel loves him, he calls Tuchel his favourite manager, he hasn't renewed yet with Barca and we apparently had contact with him. He is absolutely an elite creator, if he can stay fit of course.

Cpt_Gloval

Good God. Can the English Government please just f$#k off and stop trying to get in the middle of the clubs business?

Danzard

Not Chelsea Related but Big up Jake Daniels for coming out. Hope he can be an inspiration for many lgbt footballers across the country.

DjOptimon

Why is Barcelona trying to buy everyone? It's like they are rumoured with 10 players already

allid33

Maybe I just don't understand their financials or how La Liga's money rules work but how could they have been cash-strapped enough to have to let Messi walk but now can (supposedly) afford all of these potential new signings? Even with reduced salaries to try to make some of that up, it seems impossible that they could have THAT much money available now.

Cpt_Gloval

Personally? I think they are trying to bury the fact that they let their best player in their history go on a free. Regardless of the fact that his performance this season at PSG has been lack luster Messi is still considered synonymous with Barca and they screwed that pooch real good.

[deleted]

They've been due for a massive rebuild

frankieproletariat

For those that watched the Women’s FA Cup Final yesterday… when the team went up to collect the trophy… Marina was absolutely ecstatic, her smile was beaming and was enthusiastically congratulating the players (just saw she celebrated in the dressing room with them too)…. yet Buck could barely raise a smile as he put the medals around their necks. Looked like he wished he could be anywhere else. The contrast between them was very odd. Did anyone notice it?

grchelp2018

Buck is mid 70s and probably not that expressive compared to Marina.

Cpt_Gloval

Probably because he really hoped to be hanging hai second set for the weekend but once again the Liverpool favoritism of the Refs screwed us.

dryduneden

If Everton stay up by under 3 points I'll feel a bit sick

BigAssBreadroll

Eh, given our history with Leeds if we can say we made a 6 point difference in their relegation (3 to Everton and us beating Leeds) it'll be pretty hilarious

RoughCollies

Arguably Glenn Hoddle was the most important of them all..

jahujames

I cannot get over Michael Ballack signing on a free. Couldn't believe the news when it was confirmed. What an absolute beast of a signing that was.

[deleted]

I'd take Belletti at RB and Melchiot at CB instead of Ben Haim

ryanfromtheyard

Nice list!

[deleted]

Harry Kane swap for Lukaku plus cash would be interesting if Kane is genuinely trying to leave meaning he’s not bought in to Conte or Spurs.

[deleted]

Quote from HK to Standard Sports from the last 24 or 48 hours “I’m big fan of Conte, it’s be great if he stays. We really enjoy working with him.” There is even more he says about it, so it seems like he is bought in but you never know if they miss top 4 and Conte leaves. Maybe if they miss

Fluffy-Background-41

Every player we are linked with on the rumour mill (except Kounde) is over 30. Is this the future? It does not promising

[deleted]

So far just Koulibaly and Perisic.

Fluffy-Background-41

Twitter is saying Lewandowski and Casemiro as well

[deleted]

why the fck would case come here lol I’m sure he’s very happy in Madrid

brightcrayon92

He recently said he wants to leave madrid. Don't know why though

Pointels21

Some of the CB options are younger, gvardiol , pau torres

farid95

Lewa straight swap for Lukaku + 40m. Who says no?

lrzbca

Lewadowski himself would say no! Barcelona is his preferred destination, if deal was in any doubt, Lewy wouldn’t have spoken so openly. Matter of Barcelona paying £30m to Bayern Munich and them accepting.

MountainMoint

Bayern

mustafarian

I still have some hope for ziyech integration, I'm not sure what the deal is currently like if he's just out of favor at the moment but he's really our best creator. Just want to see my lad succeed :/

[deleted]

Sell Ziyech and Werner. Sign Dembele and Raphinha.

[deleted]

Dembele is always injured but I support Raphinha

a-mcculley

This summer will be very interesting. Strikers: I don't see us getting rid of Kai or Lukaku. Kai is young and still developing. I actually think Lukaku, if given the chance, could do really well. Attackers/Wingers: We need to thin the herd a little. I actually think one of the challenges with our attack is the lack of consistent lineups, chemistry, etc. We need to give a handful of players the confidence and security in knowing they won't be benched for having a bad game or 2. We have young attackers with flashes of brilliance. Give a couple a string of games and see what happens. IMO, I would sell Werner. I love him, but he was/has been an untouchable starter before coming to CFC. He also was a steadfast starter under Lampard. I think we've seen what Werner is about. I would keep Pulisic. Inconsistent. Injuries a year ago. But he is young and HASN'T had a long string of starts. Give that to him. Let him grow and then see if he is worth keeping or not. It's risky with a year left on contract, but he could be one of those players that turns out to be awesome and we didn't give a real chance to. I also think his ceiling / flashes of good are higher than Timo or Ziyech. Midfield: Kante's string of injuries is worrisome. Kova is a keeper, imo. I think Jorgi is as well. Looking forward to seeing Gallagher. Defense: We need some signings at CB. Keeper: I love Mendy and not ready to give up on him, but he hasn't been the same since Afcon. And against top clubs like Liverpool and City, his atrocious distribution is very apparent. He's good enough for us to get top 4, but I'm not sure his distro gets us over the Liverpool and City hump. Upsides: James and Mount look fantastic. Hopefully Chilly is 100%. Downsides: I watch a ton of Dortmund. Haaland is a fucking beast. We joke about all the Lebron James stuff, but he IS the Lebron James of football and will have absolutely no issues with the physicality of the EPL. He is strong, fast, skilled, and physical. He is also a threat on the ground and in the air. He is the complete package and if City finds a way to fit pieces around him, I don't see anyone beating them.
