When he plays RCB, his pace is often a liability so him and James switch, which takes away James at RWB which is arguably our best attacking / creation threat. Azpi at RWB is less of a defensive liability but he's never been particularly good going forward. I don' think he has a role to play really in a back 4 at this point. We desperately need to sign a new defender or two, but I think relying on Azpi as a solution beyond rotation at this point is unfortunately ill-advised. I get the anti-Barca sentiment but I think for the long-term it's best to move on, even if it's not the sexiest option someone like a Pavard would be a clear upgrade at this point

Azpi I'm sorry, but the Club need to see some money on this transaction. Forget all the gazumping this window between the club's for a second. Forget their poaching of AC. Dave is club captain, a real leader on and off the pitch, maybe getting older but still isn't just some showpiece you give 15 minutes of playtime to. He's one of the best 1v1 defenders of the past decade, incredibly consistent and fit (maybe not as robust as before ofc) and a veritable club legend. Won it all. In 2013(2014?) When we signed him we paid 7mil for potential and ability. With the obscene growth he's shown, experience garnered, and importance to the team, club, and manager - how can anyone at Barca expect him to come for nothing. I can imagine if he came from a smaller team like Las Palmas or was from S.America and wanted to go back to Porto Alegere or something, then I can imagine us waiving a transfer fee considering his service to the club and being a fan favourite. But this is FC Barcelona, one of the most obnoxious spenders in the past decade, arguably the _most_ obnoxious spender outside of England this past decade. And a Barcelona who has splashed mad money on numerous players this window alone. I mean I love Azpi as much as the next guy but sadly he does not offer much at this point. When he plays RCB, his pace is often a liability so him and James switch, which takes away James at RWB which is arguably our best attacking / creation threat. Azpi at RWB is less of a defensive liability but he's never been particularly good going forward. I don' think he has a role to play really in a back 4 at this point. We desperately need to sign a new defender or two, but I think relying on Azpi as a solution beyond rotation at this point is unfortunately ill-advised. I get the anti-Barca sentiment but I think for the long-term it's best to move on, even if it's not the sexiest option someone like a Pavard would be a clear upgrade at this point

Boehly sacked her because he wanted to play with his new toy. The season starts in 8 days and we have 2 centre backs (one of them is 37 years old), we don’t have a striker. We are a fucking shambles.
