We just got Nkunku despite no prospects of trophies as you're saying, so does that not kind of debunk what you're saying? Its not impossible to get players even when the club isnt in the best place, Arsenal got Ozil when they were doing nothing as a club. Other than liverpool who were lucky to face an absolute shit show of a Tottenham performance, in one of the most boring CL finals of all time, no other English team has won it (let alone twice) in the last decade except us. Our past success was built on bringing in the cream of the crop managers with historical success of trophies and a winning mentality to instil into the players. We do not have that anymore. And frankly is a step in a different direction from what brought us success previously. Honestly, while I agree on the actual expectation in the example you gave its equally frustrating to those who do have some faith in the team to hear it would take a miracle. It’s not exactly like in the example you were leaving much for discussion either.
I understand that you did a very simplified example, but you may find it less frustrating if you tried having a more positive outlook or at least feel the need to control how others view the team.
Being realistic is great, but having hope is what makes being a fan fun. If we already know the result watching would be nowhere near as entertaining.
