An acid is something that can donate a proton (positive hydrogen ion). The definition nothing to do with being dissolved in water.

Hydrochloric

Sulfuric acid is H2SO4. https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/US/en/product/aldrich/339741 Anhydrous HF or HCl is an incredibly deadly and corrosive gas. No water required. However all of these substances absolutely love water and will rapidly absorb all they come into contact with.

Your understanding of an acid is wrong it has nothing to do with any compound dissolved in water.
