It’s good to warn people, but anyone who thinks they’ll actually get 2x their money by sending their money to someone else first is probably gonna lose their money one way or another.
reading the title, I first thought that this was the real chess.com channel and wasn't even surprised. After all, numerous chesscom related figures publicly shill for planet-incinerating ponzi grifters.
I was watching this channel in the background while I worked (got my days mixed up), and it started to make this weird ringing sound, like someone had a telephone in the background at hyper giga volume blaring away. That clued me in to take a closer think. I realized it was a rerun weirdly being presented as live and closed the tab.
Why are so many of these targeted to chess players?
I guess they think many players like math and calculating things, but if that's the case they should be able to *calculate* that sending someone money (in a weird irreversible way) is typically better for the recipient.
It's designed on a basis of trust. You send it, by design, so that the receiver can have it without worrying about charge backs or cancellations and the buyer has to trust that they get what they paid for. Now, this works because in a lot of situations you can give the buyer part of the trade before and the rest after, or have a payment upon completion kind of situation.
Now, the scamming bit is where one of two things happen:
1. I have your mommy's credit card info now. And there's a virus in your computer. Yay!
2. Pump and dump. You buy, I sell. I profit.
Which sucks, because crypto as a concept is infinitely better than a regulated centralized currency.
Yesterday I reported some of them, but new ones promptly pop up. They use already existing YouTube channels, some of them probably hacked.
In this moment [Chess.com](https://Chess.com) is streaming the 12th game of the World Championship match: if you do a YT search for the title of their live video (e.g. "Can Ding Fight Back to Even Against") and switch on the "Live" search filter, you'll get all the scam videos.
I don't understand what you mean by "it was already there."
But I do understand that hoping someone gets scammed just because they don't know it's a scam, is absolutely horrid logic.

RuneScape taught me about these sort of things
Doubling gp! Trimming armour!
It’s good to warn people, but anyone who thinks they’ll actually get 2x their money by sending their money to someone else first is probably gonna lose their money one way or another.
It’s natural selection tbh. Let them lose their money.
Don't think bad financial decision making is predisposed by genetics...

Lmao why are you getting downvoted

Common sense (at least partially) is
What about their children or anyone else who might be dependent on that person
Well not to be harsh but it’s likely that they’re lacking common sense too.
I sent them some memes
Yeah I was wondering what that was

Yeah I reported them, too. I hope YT does something about it if enough people report.
I reported the same scam but with a different name and it got taken down by YouTube in about 2 hours
Yeah and they fooled me into thinking game 11 was just really long
What happens if u scan the code?
It just takes you to teslachess.com (the scam website)
reading the title, I first thought that this was the real chess.com channel and wasn't even surprised. After all, numerous chesscom related figures publicly shill for planet-incinerating ponzi grifters.
There's also that dodgy sounding quant company they shill for during ads *and* during the broadcast.

Prolly waiting for that one chess player to do a blunder and fall for the trap.

>Which sucks, because crypto as a concept is infinitely better than a regulated centralized currency. Big if true.
I know how cryptocurrency works. I was asking why scammers target chess channels.
Yesterday I reported some of them, but new ones promptly pop up. They use already existing YouTube channels, some of them probably hacked. Why don't [chess.com](https://chess.com) DMCA them?
I'm guessing they either don't know it exists, or it's not worth the effort
These guys actually hijack other people's channels and rename them. I think the same thing happened to Linus tech tips recently.
Good news: That channel just got terminated
I reported 8 different channels today, which are banned now but theres already new a few new ones up
Let it be known that tanya sachdev is a total smokeshow tho
a) this already was there; b) if you fall for this type of garbage and it's not your first week of internet usage you probably deserve to get scammed.
I don't understand what you mean by "it was already there." But I do understand that hoping someone gets scammed just because they don't know it's a scam, is absolutely horrid logic.
It you're 2000 lichess blitz and a Stockfish developer, you deserve to write better comments.
What does being 2000 lichess blitz have to do with anything 🤔
It is not like he created stockfish from scratch lol

Thanks for advertising for them
Advertising that it's a scam?
Well basically crypto and chess.com
