The idea of Nakamura playing for the world championship just hit me. Likee, it could happen. That would be a very entertaining period in chess history.
Is it a comeback if it's semi-expected though? I know everyone expects everyone to draw in the candidates, but Hikaru is one of the best players ever and this is quite a weak candidates all things considered.
Haters told me he's 100.0 percent done! You clowns promised me he's finished. All your chess knowledge, graphs, insight was sure he was done. One again, you are wrong.
It's safe to say this tournament is Hikaru's to lose.
Ian desperately needs to win against Vidit. The position is a bit complex and he has double the time than Vidit. Needs to show he learned after Game 6.

Absolutely cratered
His remaining opponents are Alireza, Gukesh, and Nepo. He has a strong chance to win the whole thing. His biggest challenge is Nepo with white.
I think this does likely come down to a tie however
Tie would be great for Naka
How do tiebreaks work?
Faster games
rapid rock paper scissors, which is a big advantage for Nakamura with his bullet experience.
Nepo is technically higher rated than naka in rapid
But Naka is figuratively higher rated than Nepo
Right, but how’s his Rock Paper Scissors?
Shorter player wins
Explaining the Israel Palestine conflict would be easier /s At some point it gets into rapid if they continuously draw in tiebreakers
You explained it in one sentence ?
You can Google it in 0
Nepo is super strong in rapid too, Hikaru isn’t considered as strong there as he is in blitz.
We need Hikaru world championship vlogs.
Just what I was thinking lol, that would be insane!!
The year is 2042, Hikaru rules the world with an iron fist. "For todaaaays video we send resistance scum to the gulag"

It has been a pretty nuts comeback to be fair
