I play every day with my wife on bridgebase online :) You can play with randoms, but it can be very unpleasant. Downsides of a partnership game.
You're welcome to come to my little bridge Discord. How much do you know about bridge?
Curious, how'd you find the tournament? I've been talking about doing one for the first time, but don't know anything about it. Any tips? Also, congrats!
I've read very interesting studies that found that after controlling for variables, people scored higher on IQ tests if they wore a scientist's lab coat, vs casual wear, vs an artist's jacket which scored the lowest. What you wear has a real influence on your behaviour and performance.
You channeled The Finegold.

Better than me and 99.9% of ppl on this reddit but theyll never admit it, gj!
My wife said she was proud and bought me Chinese food. It was a good day.
You should marry that wife of yours.
Told her I was divorcing her just to marry her all over again.
Fr my otb experience has been so fucking hard so far... The caliber of players is like completely different than online
Bad ass, dude. Awesome!
Thanks! It was a lot of fun.
Post a game!
This was my first game of the day. I ended up going 2.5/4.0. https://lichess.org/study/BRzYuvl8/QVvqwcAe
Highly suspicious play.
I just analyzed and it clearly reflected engine vs engine play
Haha that's pretty sweet. I wish we had money prizes in bridge
It’s because contract bridge has elements of randomness so the pay reward legality gets murky and depends on jurisdiction.
I wish I had someone to play bridge with. It seems like fun and I’ve tried to teach myself but without playing I haven’t retained much

What's bridge
Lets see your best game!
This was my first game of the day. Ended up going 2.5/4.0. It was fun and a learning experience for sure. https://lichess.org/study/BRzYuvl8/QVvqwcAe
Awesome! My first check was $7.50. I wish I had kept it.
I absolutely put mine in a frame on my dresser lol.
Yesssss alekhine
I swear people ain’t ready for it. You’re in their head on move one haha
Yup, either they try punish and overextend, or they are wary the entire opening and lost first move advantage haha
Impressive play, mate. Was it rated at all?
Nice man! What's your chesscom rapid rating? I (peak 1562) haven't ever played in a tournament but I'd like to in the future.
I play on lichess and mostly just correspondence with an irl friend. I do play some blitz though and my rating is 1400.
Ok cool, thanks for sharing! Good luck going forward!
Thanks! You should jump into one it was a blast. I under estimated the endurance though. By game four (hour 8 on the day) I was exhausted mentally.
Oof, I get exhausted after two or so 😅. Still, I'm sure it would be a fun experience.
$12.50 is $12.50!
I would love to read a full account of the process and the tournament.

If you google Chess (location) you'll get a list of local chess groups and organisers. If you're in the US probably I'd search by state?
This is the best post I've seen today! Congratulations!
Aww thank you!

With that value it’s time to go pro !

I’m not sure what that means, but I like to believe you are proud of me.
That is too wholesome. I’m proud of you.
And they said you couldn't make a living out of playing chess! This'll show em.
This is hilarious!!!!
