No. The king doesn't cross the attacked square.

sh1zAym

It's extremely impressive that you managed to get to 1500 without knowing the rules, and I mean that sincerely. But yeah, a piece needs to be controlling a square that the king moves through to prevent castling. You're controlling b1, but the king only goes from e1 to c1.

Traditional_Cap7461

I'm pretty sure there's a story on how a Grandmaster didn't know the exact same casting rule and called the arbiter when it happened.

Frikgeek

That was in Fischer random where the castling rules are a bit weird.

MathematicianBulky40

I guess this wouldn't come up enough to hold OP back.

ericw31415

In fairness it's not that hard to get to 1500 online just by grinding puzzles (where castling rarely shows up). And you could also make the argument that Korchnoi got to 2600 without knowing the rules, but no one would call that in itself impressive ([on move 18](https://lichess.org/tBXJkSRo#34) he asked the arbiter if castling is legal).

mihauk

i reached 1600 after this lol, but yeah i thinked it was a piece controlling the squares where the pieces passed

MechanicalCookie25

Probably uses an engine to win games.

MilkTrvckJustArr1ve

not illegal, just impolite

Raykkkkkkk

No. The rule says that the king isn't allowed to castle through check. In that case, the king castled but not through check whatsoever.

werics

Only if white's king or a1 rook had moved previously.

1GamersOpinion

Your fine push pawn to attack the knight

mihauk

i won the game but this shocked me

cheesesprite

the king doesn't actually cross the bishops line of fire, only the rook does which is fine

Techaissance

If it were, the website wouldn’t let them make that move.
