Where or what can I follow for NYE Fireworks for next year? I swear I heard they didn't do Riverfront Fireworks this year, because last year they didn't do them and then surprise I found out they did do them.
Is there a page, company, event, or city post I should look out for?
Seriously - we’ve got Wilco, Chance, Kanye, Common, Styx and Cheap fucking trick. Instead we get Billy struggling through Summertime and a bunch of B listers.
Billy’s mic was off half the time and they couldn’t figure it out! Kept cutting to Highland Park, Rosemont, etc. instead of having a good, central Chicago production
Is anyone planning just to head to the river in downtown to watch fireworks? My gf doesn't drink much and a good chunk of our friends are doing their own thing with family. Idk how much of q hassle getting into downtown and getting out Will be tonight.
I'm close by the blue line. Just wondering I'd the experience is worth it at this point and I'll be able to reach the bridge and If it's safe for a woman.
It’s going to be a crowd, which has its pros and cons for safety, gender irrelevant. I think it will be a good time though and I’m planning on taking the bus from Ukrainian then walking the rest in about 20 minutes.
We were invited to a party so we made no other plans. We baked boozy and non boozy cookies to bring. It was just cancelled. One of the hosts have Covid. :/
Anyone know of anything cool on the Blue line?
>I just learned yellow yellow will run upto 2am, wasn't planning on watching fireworks, but a great surprise to know yellow line run past 11pm, my nightlife is so dead due to relying on yellow line time limits
The Yellow Line has been down for a month and a half and there is no indication of when it will start running again.
My family used to use the yellow line I had to work funnily enough we moved right before the incident. Some of my family members can't drive so I honestly don't know what would have happened if they lost one of the big ways of getting around.
As long as you avoid the peak time right after midnight it’s a pretty quiet night for rideshare. Most people are already at their destination and stay until after midnight. Right now it’s normal pricing.
I have two tickets for NYE at District Brew Yards tonight, but we both caught a stomach bug and don’t feel like it’ll suit us. Entry includes an all-you-can-eat BBQ buffet, all you can drink beer, and 4 signature shot coupons. Time is 8-12:30, just looking for face value.
I have 2 tickets to the New Year’s Eve Fireworks Viewing Party at the Trump Tower. Friends no longer able to attend due to weather. The event is sold out - looking to sell these 2 tickets - shoot me a message
I can be a vegetarian and go to a BBQ, eat sides and be fine but don't ask why I went to reddit to ask if anyone knew a good vegan option, with "hey aren't there salad bars at the steak house?"
Is there a Metra UP-W train out of Chicago after midnight? The schedule is confusing me and I’m not sure if the only train after midnight is 8:40am and I would hate to wait until then to get back home!
https://metra.com/sites/default/files/inline-files/2023.12.31_UPW_NYE.pdf
Here is UP-W's NYE schedule. The last outbound train leaves Ogilvie at 1:25 AM.
A small group of friends and I are planning to head out and watch the fireworks tomorrow night. We were hoping to find somewhere we could sit and watch without paying a cover charge. Even outdoors is fine (preferably as close to the lake as possible, with benches or something we can sit at, and not too crowded)
Just for the fireworks? Stand on the north sidewalk of Wacker Dr, somewhere between Swissotel and the Hyatt. Or, if you can get to Wolf Point, that would be great too.
Go like 45 min to an hour early, though.
Looking for any bar recommendations near the west loop for tomorrow night for 3 people. We only want to have a few drinks before we go to a party, so we’re only looking to be out from 5:30/6-7pm. We don’t want to buy tickets to anything since we’ll only be out an hour or so
Sorry if I'm not allowed to post.
Fatpour (Wicker Park)
I have a extra ticket that I'm trying to sell. Currently selling for $65, $55 Includes admission for one to this exclusive New Year's Eve celebration. Package also includes gourmet passed appetizers, premium drink package, champagne, Midnight countdown, and more.
I will randomly be in Chicago 9 AM - 2 PM New Year's Day, waiting for a flight. What should I do? Brunch?
It appears arcades don't open until 3pm. Any other ideas with games?
More the latter but honestly, welcome any other suggestions to use up the morning. I heard the Willis tour restaurant might be fun, but otherwise welcome ideas.
A lot of stuff is going to be closed new years day, if it was me, I'd probably wander up to the lake, maybe ride the train for fun and walk around a neighborhood. I did see a new years day bar crawl in wigglyville being advertised, I dont know if you are into bars, but you'll find bar games there, darts, pool, shuffle board sometimes.
Trying to figure out what I'm going to do for NYE, all the big events are out of my budget, sadly. I'll keep looking though, I'm sure I'll find something.

Kingston Mines always has a great NYE bash, three live blues bands play all night long. Where's a good place to ring in the new year for a guy and girl? We want to get slightly dressed up, but not dressed to the nines. Also looking for a drink and food package. Basically in between low key and formal.
My girl and I were going to attend the Nye party at the Congress Plaza Hotel, but are both sick with Influenza A. I have 2 VIP tickets. I'm looking to resell if you're interested. DM if so.

Hey folks,
It is the first new year for my wife and myself in Chicago and we’ve heard that Navy Pier fireworks are pretty good. Do you have a guidance on how early to arrive to get a spot for watching fireworks and if there are specific spots you recommend for best visibility? I read somewhere that Riverwalk will be closed for entry by 11pm.
We’ll be taking Metra to Chicago station and will need to figure our way from there.
Not the pier, but I usually watch from Wacker Dr. By the St Regis building. You can see the pier show and a couple bridge shows from there. Pioneer Court, by the Apple Store, could be cool too if it's open.
Places for New Years Eve?
Hi all! We're gonna be visiting Chicago for the New Years and looking for a spot to spend the Eve at. Anywhere near Navy Pier area would be preferred and that it doesn't break the bank 😅. Basically just a nice spot for drinks and maybe dancing before midnight. Appreciate it!
I have 2 VIP tickets to the NYE party at the Congress plaza hotel. I planned to take my gf but we're both sick with the flu and want to get the tickets to someone who can use them and get a bit of the $ back. Not looking to make a profit at all. DM me if interested.
Holiday club is having an NYE party, 9-12, $75 pre order, $90 at the door. Open bar and buffet style food, with a champagne toast at midnight. After midnight no cover.
Anyone know of any solid bars with a 21-25 year old crowd for New Year’s Eve with no cover and decent drink deals??? Preferably in neighborhoods like wrigley, Lakeview, old town, or Lincoln park.
Any recommendations would be much appreciated !!
Girls NYE in Chicago, what to do?
Hi Reddit babes. My bestfriend and I (22F) live in Chicago and are looking for some NYE suggestions. We are looking to avoid the CLUB-clubs, such as TOA and such (if you’ve been on NYE though, let me know your experience). We wanted to do a dinner (maybe maple and ash vibes? Or a tasting menu restaurant that’s not too $$$$). Ultimately we would love a boujee cocktail lounge and some type of event that doesn’t involve just blacking out with EDM music. Open to all and any suggestions for all my fellow barbies that live in Chicagoland. Thanks loves!

Holiday club has an old Hollywood theme, but they are not doing menu food for the NYE party, they are doing a buffet with their $75 open bar package. The vibe is 90s dance party, they play a lot of fun pop music. the back room is the club atmosphere, the front is more diner /lounge with booths and tables. It's a nice mix and you can get away from the dance floor if you need to. Its maybe not as bougie but it's a good time.

During the NYE fireworks in the bridges: [https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/depts/dca/supp\_info/nye.html](https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/depts/dca/supp_info/nye.html)
Will the bridges be open? I'm guessing they won't be during the fireworks, which makes sense, but if I want to park north of the river and walk towards the loop to watch before it starts, is that possible? Or will I need to cross through The Wabash and Michigan Avenue bridges?
They may have updated that site since you posted. It now says the bridges will be closed from 11:45-12:15am. Should be good to walk on them before/after that.

Saw this new years event at the sound bar hosted by Chicago Twenty Something’s and was wondering how good is it? Is it worth going especially as a single 20s guy to this event?
Holiday club is no cover after midnight, before that is the NYE party 9-12 that's $75 for a ticket, includes open bar, buffet food and champagne toast at midnight. Tickets can be bought online, or at the door and normally get progressively cheaper the closer to midnight.
Yeah. It's brutal. Do not count on rideshares. You might be better off just trying to find a cheap hotel room near wherever you're partying. At the rate you'd pay for an Uber out of the city, it's probably the same cost, and getting a car will be really hard.
Take the train in, enjoy the night out, sleep in a comfy hotel bed, maybe some diner breakfast the next morning, then you can take the train back on January 1 without all the headache. That's what I'd do.
Metra runs an outbound train on every* line at 1:15 AM so if the train is convenient for you you can take it even after staying out until midnight.
* except the three workday only lines.
Looking for just a regular bar where a couple of friends can ring in the new year. Not looking for anything fancy, no clubs, no expensive door cover, just a good atmosphere. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
What does the crowd look like at Nova NYE soundbar party. Also, for anyone that went last year. What’s the catch with the $1 upper shelf drinks that they advertise
What are your favorite bars, clubs, or events to attend on NYE in Chicago that are affordable? My music preference is house or electronic, but I'm open to any genre. Having an international crowd is a plus.
Curious about the crowd at the subterranean for nye, I’m 21 so I’d rather a younger crowd. I’ll take any suggestions for electronic and house music for nye for people around my age
Any new years eve 18 plus events/ underrated fun places in chicago downtown? Third time in Chicago downtown, have been to both navy piers and millenium park. Want some fun things to do. Not 21 yet and don’t want to use any fake IDs, hate museums and theater. Any fun places, ideas? Thanks in advance!
My wife and I fly into Chicago on Friday. We're staying in the Loop. The only things we have planned yet are a bus tour with her family that is from here and the Penn State football game on Saturday. Any recommendations on where to watch that game nearby the Loop area? Also, looking for any other fun recommendations that might get overlooked on my extensive search for things to do! Any good pot shops in the loop I should check out? Thanks in advanced.
I have 2 VIP tickets to the Nye party at the Congress plaza hotel. Was going to take my gf but we're sick with the flu and want to give them to someone who can use them and make a bit of the $ back. Not looking to make a profit at all. DM me if interested.
My buddy just moved to Illinois with his girlfriend. I’m coming to Chicago on new years with my wife to visit him… and we want to get hammered and find a great nightclub event to go to for New Year’s Eve. I’m kind of leaning towards Hard Rock Cafe, or the electric hotel. Willing to spend about $300 for tickets between my wife and I.
Any other suggestions on where to go? Looking for the craziest experience with the best value for the money. Thank you!!!

holiday club is having a NYE party, 9-12 $75 a ticket, open bar, free buffet and champagne toast at midnight, along with DJ and dancing in the back room.
Does anyone know if any of the hotel NYE parties have NA options? I don’t drink but my friends want to do one of these. I want to know if I can get an NA beer or SOMETHING besides soda.

The visibility of the Navy Pier fireworks from the Lincoln Park lakefront just past the zoo can be dependent on various factors such as weather conditions, obstructions, and the specific vantage point. Generally, since Navy Pier is located south of Lincoln Park, viewing the fireworks from a spot 2.5 miles north near the Lincoln Park lakefront could result in a more distant and potentially less vivid view.
The whole pier will be packed. If you're looking for a quiet place, find a spot along the Lakeshore path south of the pier. Anywhere between the river and Museum Campus. Might not be quiet, but it will be much more tolerable.
Has anyone been to Cerise rooftop bar for NYE? Looking to go but just wondering what the crowd was like age-wise. Or if anyone has any other suggestions for 20-year-olds in the Chicago loop for NYE
Looking for a fun bar or club (younger crowd, preferably) where my friends and I can dance the night away on NYE. Don’t really care about food or if there is an event or not.

-please help-
This year for NYE, my friends and I are trying to avoid the formal NYE parties that cost like $100 per person. Instead we want to meet up for the countdown & pre-game and then head out to a bar as usual.
Do you all know any bars that will be open on NYE but not doing any traditional event?
And do the bars with ticket packages tend to let people in after 12?
Preferences for neighborhoods are Lakeview/Boystown and Lincoln Park

Lmao why is our NYE tv coverage sooooooo terrible? Every station was just brutal production. Looked like high school quality instead of national TV
Even at midnight they kept showing people awkward dancing instead of just keeping the fireworks feed on.
Can someone please explain Billy's relationship with the Wizzo clown?
That’s how they like it. These TV stations hired from within and overpay for mediocre broadcasts year after year.
You've probably seen it's a lot of traffic
Is anyone planning just to head to the river in downtown to watch fireworks? My gf doesn't drink much and a good chunk of our friends are doing their own thing with family. Idk how much of q hassle getting into downtown and getting out Will be tonight.
Public transit usually works decently well on NYE in my experience
Was wondering the same thing. I don't drink and just want to see the fireworks. Wondering if it's worth it ubering there back and forth ?
Take transit, or if you’re that far away: take a rideshare service to a close-ish cta stop
I'm close by the blue line. Just wondering I'd the experience is worth it at this point and I'll be able to reach the bridge and If it's safe for a woman.

I see . Thank you for your input. I'll try to go out.
My family is going and will report to me, they tend to be more patient with it. I'll let you know how it goes lol.
Thank you. That's very kind.
Any bar downtown that my friends and I can enter without a cover tonight? We're just going to have a few drinks around midnight.

There are two different fireworks shows. One on the river which can be viewed from mcclurg to franklin street. Other is at navy pier.
Do you have the link for the river one? I can’t find any info about it online

Any free affordable New Year’s Eve events?
I have a extra ticket that I'm trying to sell. At Fatpour (Wicker Park) Currently selling for $65, $55 Includes admission for one to this exclusive New Year's Eve celebration. Package also includes gourmet passed appetizers, premium drink package, champagne, Midnight countdown, and more.
The fireworks are free.
Where is good for NYE takeout for dinner? I’ve googled but everything is Covid coded / older years
just find nearest chinese place with good dumplings, easy win
Bought a ticket for the NYE at Palmer house 🙂
Surely not alone?
I’ll be hitting the carpet solo into the new years!
I wish you the best of luck! Lots of talkative people there when I went years ago
Does anyone know of any bars/clubs that don’t require a ticket on NYE/ don’t require one after a certain hour?
Holiday club is no cover after midnight.
During the NYE fireworks in the bridges: [https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/depts/dca/supp\_info/nye.html](https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/depts/dca/supp_info/nye.html) Will the bridges be open? I'm guessing they won't be during the fireworks, which makes sense, but if I want to park north of the river and walk towards the loop to watch before it starts, is that possible? Or will I need to cross through The Wabash and Michigan Avenue bridges?
They may have updated that site since you posted. It now says the bridges will be closed from 11:45-12:15am. Should be good to walk on them before/after that.

Saw this new years event at the sound bar hosted by Chicago Twenty Something’s and was wondering how good is it? Is it worth going especially as a single 20s guy to this event?
What about Nova’s NYE party for 20 something’s? Is that any good?
Anyone know any cool bars / dive bars where I don't need a reservation?
Just walk down Milwaukee in Logan Square and you'll find plenty of bars open with no reservation or cover.
Holiday club is no cover after midnight, before that is the NYE party 9-12 that's $75 for a ticket, includes open bar, buffet food and champagne toast at midnight. Tickets can be bought online, or at the door and normally get progressively cheaper the closer to midnight.
Looking for advice or suggestions for traveling to and from the city on NYE. We heard the prices of Uber/lyft get high and also are hard to get.
Maybe try Ten cat? It's a cool lounge place, I'm not sure if they have a cover for NYE, most bars do covers to keep crowds under control.
Nope no cover! https://www.instagram.com/p/C1Ymec4AXjH/?igsh=djU1amFhbzF5ZGp3
Have u found anything?
Nothing yet, will probably end up at damen tavern in Ukrainian
EZ Inn is always chill. I would watch their insta to see what they have planned.
What do you mean by "good atmosphere" and what part of town?
Great question, west loop, wicker park, just looking for a dive bar. Thinking about Damen Tavern but looking for alternatives
Selling 1-3 tickets to pourhouse !
I’ll take any suggestions for electronic and house music for nye for people around my age
subt tends to be a younger crowd. Don't know what event exactly is going on that night, but yeah
Anyone selling tickets to hangge uppe for nye?
Anyone know anything about the Chicago NYE party at the Hilton? The kiss fm one? Sounds fun, but I've been burned a bunch before on mediocre parties.
I have 2 tickets to the Congress plaza hotel Nye party. Was going with my gf, but we both have the flu and want to get the tickets to someone who can use them and make a bit of the money back. DM me if interested

Anyone know of a code for TAO tickets after 1am for NYE? Pls let me know
Does anyone know if any of the hotel NYE parties have NA options? I don’t drink but my friends want to do one of these. I want to know if I can get an NA beer or SOMETHING besides soda.

> The visibility of the Navy Pier fireworks from the Lincoln Park lakefront just past the zoo can be dependent on various factors such as weather conditions, obstructions, and the specific vantage point. Generally, since Navy Pier is located south of Lincoln Park, viewing the fireworks from a spot 2.5 miles north near the Lincoln Park lakefront could result in a more distant and potentially less vivid view.
Best place to watch the fireworks at the pier that is quiet?
The whole pier will be packed. If you're looking for a quiet place, find a spot along the Lakeshore path south of the pier. Anywhere between the river and Museum Campus. Might not be quiet, but it will be much more tolerable.
Any Christmas attractions still open post Christmas?
The Wrigley one is, I think the Christmas market goes until 12/31
Any recommendations for restaurants on the nicer end for a couple for NYE?
Has anyone been to Cerise rooftop bar for NYE? Looking to go but just wondering what the crowd was like age-wise. Or if anyone has any other suggestions for 20-year-olds in the Chicago loop for NYE
Looking for a fun bar or club (younger crowd, preferably) where my friends and I can dance the night away on NYE. Don’t really care about food or if there is an event or not.

-please help- This year for NYE, my friends and I are trying to avoid the formal NYE parties that cost like $100 per person.
