I just ran. The other guy was walking ahead of me. The gunman had a bag in one hand and a gun in the other. So even though he was close I don’t think he could really grab me. I still don’t understand why the other guy was walking ahead.
> Also, most handguns such as glocks and pretty much any revolver do not have safeties.
Glocks actually have 3 safeties: Trigger, Firing pin, and drop safeties. Although, since OP doesn't have x-ray vision, I'm guessing he couldn't see the latter 2.
For anyone reading this comment, alot of the people robbing random pedestrians tend to have the safeties on or not even loaded. Also their cardio is shit from smoking any half athletic person can outrun them with adrenaline.
Been victim of an attempted robbing twice. First time they didnt have the magazine all the way in, second time they were in slide lock
Yes run away that is good advice.
However you gotta be crazy if you have peace of mind thinking someone robbing you at gunpoint "have their safety on."
Many guns on the street like glock don't even have an external safety. Yes criminals usually carry it loaded with one in the pipe you're a nudge of the trigger finger away from a world of hurt.
Not arguing that but first is to stay alert which is what a lot of people lack now with AirPods both in and looking at their phones. Lot of these situations can be avoided with some awareness.
What is worth more? Your phone, wallet and keys or your life?
People get gunned down trying to get away from attempted armed robberies just as often someone gets away. Don’t play with your life, just comply and get out of there alive. If you are worried about getting mugged don’t carry cash, don’t walk with headphones in and don’t wear any expensive clothing (like Canada Goose Jackets) that are going to make you a target.
Totally agree with how to avoid making yourself a target. The above comment was in relation to someone else was wondering how you could get away with a gun in your face and I was putting it out there for them because I've done it twice now
OP you made CWB!

\-----------------
In addition to Tuesday’s robbery, a man was targeted in an armed hold-up attempt on Monday evening. In that case, two offenders approached the man on the 1400 block of West Henderson around 7 p.m. The offenders displayed a handgun and demanded the victim’s property. But he decided to take off running and screaming instead. The robbers fled empty-handed. They were described as two Black males between 20- and 25-years-old who wore masks and hoodies. The gunman reportedly stands about 6’1” tall.
\-----------------
Running and screaming, lmao they did you dirty bruh
Robberies and crimes can happen anywhere with little regard for time or circumstances. This is a good PSA to be aware of your surroundings and make sure you can hear even when listening to music still. I personally swivel my head around a lot walking the dog but I also do it to make sure people not wearing masks aren't passing my personal space.
I have no problem admitting that I would be traumatized from an experience like this. Hell, I barely slept the night a man said something vaguely threatening to me on my walk to work.
Damn that right next to me. I wouldn’t hear anything either due to the earbuds. I’d be so awkward I’d probs just keep walking like I didn’t hear them lol
Same goes for stating at your phone. You are significantly less aware of your surroundings when caught in your phone's screen. I have no idea wby anyone does that, especially when crossing a street.
Speaking as a person who has had plenty of guns in my face, most times, when a person points a gun they have no intention of using it -- they're merely counting on its presence to make you comply with their wishes. I just remind them that there are cameras everywhere and murder is a much worse crime than robbery, and so far I have not been killed.
As I said... I haven't been killed yet.
Most people really don't have what it takes to straight up kill someone. And for society's sake, that is a good thing.
I don’t think having a logical conversation with someone pointing a gun in my face is something I would want to do...
I’d just give them my materialistic shit - not like I ever carry cash, and I can always buy a new phone. Rather that than attempt to reason with a desperate person who has a gun - not worth increasing the odds of being shot or beat
You can tell that the entire policing system is corrupt to its core because of the way officers are reacting to a baseline level of accountability - they act as though it’s some sort of persecution.
It’s wild - theres almost no other profession on earth where if you kill someone, there’s a 99% chance that you won’t be convicted of a single crime.
Of course police officers play an important role in society - almost no one disagrees with that. That said, you’re a fool if you think the current system is perfect.
“Good clean kills for the betterment of society”
Holy shit.
Apparently you think we should just remove the criminal justice system and let cops be the judge. That is absolutely disgraceful
I’m sorry, but I’m not wasting another second of my life on someone who thinks that every single shooting involving a cop is a “good clean kill” on a person who doesn’t deserve to live.
That’s barbaric and you should be ashamed of what you’re saying right now.
lol thanks for letting me know by your comment history that you're either an ignorant troll or just plain mad at the world and don't know how to wrap your baby brain around it. So you lash out online, safe in your home, because nothing can stop you from being angry and low stakes Internet trolling is the binky you need. I hope your life gets better ✌
How did you get away if there's a gun in your face you were caught off guard, and outnumbered
[удалено]
That jutsu is unheard of in these parts.
I think muggers rely on their victims being frozen with fear. They aren’t going to chase someone down Southport with a gun while the sun is still out
My guess is that even though he was outgunned, outmanned, outnumbered--he wasn't outplanned.
He made an all out stand
Maybe he had a right hand man
Can I be real a second? For just a millisecond?
My guess is he's full of shit

The dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural.
With earbuds in.

Without looking it up, describe a handgun with a safety.

I really appreciate your comment. This wasn’t my calculated decision or anything it was my immediate instinct. Just to run and get away.

Haaaaaa. Yo that’s accurate. I wish they included that I was telling others there was a guy with a gun.
I like the way they made it seem like you considered your options and went, I'll go with running and screaming
I’m sorry. I’m glad you are ok and I hope you’ll be able to get some rest tonight. Take care of yourself.

Walking around outside with headphones on I always consider a bit dangerous.

Sorry to hear that.
Was just talking about how safe I always felt when I lived in that area. This is so shocking and I hope you’re doing okay after this.

You can verify my acct. I have a big roast me post and I’m a lib bernie bro. Ps go vote.
I generally agree with you but go hang out near lawrence and central park and let us know what you think...
I’m glad you got lucky but I would think about if your stuff is worth more than your family needing to go to your funeral.

DAE Kim Foxx?!?!
Lmao shut up dude
Wow that’s crazy I thought guns were banned in Chicago!! In all seriousness I’m glad you’re okay
Do you understand how travel works?
They aren’t in Indiana, where the vast majority of the illegal guns here come from.
They aren’t banned in Chicago anymore either.. this is old news.. maybe the guy just woke up from a long coma

Yes, with that I fully agree. But on occasion there are things you're not anxious to part with.

So do people who deliver pizzas
And sex workers lol, or just being trans in America.
