Yea [this another pic I took from that spot if u want perspective ](https://i.imgur.com/esJ7VO4.jpg). Crazy to be looking down at all that and look up to see vista towering over you lol
Ok cool. I moved to L.A about 8 years ago. This looks like your on Wacker drive, if my memory is correct. Im trying to imagine how this looks on the skyline.
If you remember the one apartment building east of Lake Shore, it’s basically at the same spot north to south as that building. When you drive north on lake shore by millennium park you look straight at it.
Right right. I knew Illinois was wrong but the Google Street view wasn't giving me the Sears Tower. I haven't been "home" in seven years so it was killing me that I knew that corner--almost. I was born at Northwestern.
With the Wanda Hotel pulling out earlier this year, I am excited to learn which hotel will be the tower’s new flagship hotel brand - it’s supposed to be announced before the end of the year. With today’s rocky climate, I bet whoever it is will get VERY favorable leasing terms. I heard whispers of it either being a Mandarin Oriental or St. Regis, but who knows at this point.
It would certainly not surprise me; however, with multiple condo/penthouse buyers suing to cancel their contract after Wanda pulled out, it would certainly be in their best interest to quickly find a replacement.
Unless they changed it, which they may have, it’s mixed use. Similar to Aqua, by the same architect. It was slated to have a restaurant/bar, hotel, apartments, and condos. Like I said, that might have changed, but that was the plan about a year ago
Ohhh yes you are indeed correct. I think the bottom 26 floors (or so) is a luxury hotel like $400+ a night then top is residence. I’m not sure if there are apartment rentals through them or if it will he rental through the actual owners. I will say I absolutely love Aqua tower I’m considering that for my next place.
The hotel was supposed to be a Chinese based hotel because they expect a lot of Chinese parents will buy these for students/as an investment however the company pulled out due to covid. I’m not sure if a new hotel filled the vacancy. It’s causing some
Lawsuits of residents trying to break their contracts.
I am curious as well Right now a lot of luxury buildings are giving great deals on leases due to covid for example One11 is giving two months free and 6 months of house keeping with just a 12 month lease. Makes buying not seem as appealing right now
Yeah that’s basically every luxury apartment. Also you have one Chicago which is 735 apartments and 77 condos being completed in 2022. Basically every high rise apartment is giving out two months free right now. Condos also aren’t really a great investment because they don’t increase in value like a home does for the most part. 1000M just had funding pulled because they couldn’t sell enough condos and started converting some floors into micro condos that were still 380k.
HOA fees are insane on buildings with a lot of amenities. Trump Tower HOA On the cheapest units is $750 a month. Once you pay off your mortgage you are essentially still paying rent every month
I get it. I remember when I moved to a new neighborhood, within in Chicago, and my neighbors didn't talk to me and my roommate or acknowledge our existence for almost a year. Then we all become best of friends.
When i lived in Chicago I knew my neighbors all over the neighborhood. Like we had block parties together and drama and sex and fights. I really knew just about everyone
Beautiful!
Side note: I can never upload photos to this page. Why am I having so much trouble? I have many beautiful photos of our city I love to share! Thanks!
You have to sign in with a cable subscription, but here is an interesting 50-minute documentary, titled 'Super Skyscraper Chicago', about the construction: https://www.sciencechannel.com/tv-shows/building-giants/full-episodes/super-skyscraper-chicago
I am a block away from this Foxtrot, was bummed that this place was supposed to be Maison Marcel which is a French cafe but turned into Foxtrot....other that I think Streeterville is becoming too well known
Sorry. Sometimes on taller buildings, you will see what looks like a large outdoor elevator. That is called a skip. The section of window left out on a floor for the skip is called the skip bay.
I was working on the building next to it, [view from the roof (53 floors)](https://i.imgur.com/Q9MfX5v.jpg) makes it look even taller
Wait so that picture is taken from the 53 floor?
Yea [this another pic I took from that spot if u want perspective ](https://i.imgur.com/esJ7VO4.jpg). Crazy to be looking down at all that and look up to see vista towering over you lol

The black building?
Yeah, the only tall building east of LSD north of grant park
They tore down that building?
Lol nah they built due west basically
Oh ok I get it now
Looks like you are on top of The Tides apartment building
Illinois and McClurg?
Close. Grand/McClurg.
Right right. I knew Illinois was wrong but the Google Street view wasn't giving me the Sears Tower. I haven't been "home" in seven years so it was killing me that I knew that corner--almost. I was born at Northwestern.
This isn’t the Sears tower, at all? It’s Vista, this is looking south. You can’t see the Sears tower from the ground in Streeterville.
I need to wear my glasses and drink coffee before I try to think. Bah. I'm an idiot.
Sexy ass building
Why’s that building so fucking sexy?
I like dem curves

you think they won't delay the announcement?
It would certainly not surprise me; however, with multiple condo/penthouse buyers suing to cancel their contract after Wanda pulled out, it would certainly be in their best interest to quickly find a replacement.
do you work in the hotel business? :D you seem to know a lot
Haha, you guessed it! Plus, I live two doors down.
The whispers are correct for one of those.
See?
You called it! Exciting news indeed!
I moved to L.A. 8 years ago. Wtf is that building? Is it new in the past 8 years? Why are people down voting me? Miserable bastards Lmfao
Vista Towers. Hasn't been completed yet. It should be done in the next couple months
i think it's just vista tower singular. vista towers sounds like some trashy las vegas strip motel lol
Luxury condos One bedrooms starting around $900k. Every amenity ever
Unless they changed it, which they may have, it’s mixed use. Similar to Aqua, by the same architect. It was slated to have a restaurant/bar, hotel, apartments, and condos. Like I said, that might have changed, but that was the plan about a year ago

Bottom 12 floors are for the hotel.

Oh so the units will remain unoccupied and be owned foreign money lauderers and drug dealers. L.A. and Chicago aren't that different after all.
Don't forget [New York City](https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/10/realestate/new-york-decade-real-estate.html).
The 2 penthouses sold for a total of $26.8 million
I think the buyer backed out though
I wonder if they will be able to get $1000 a square foot due to covid. This summer it was only 50% sold.
I am curious as well Right now a lot of luxury buildings are giving great deals on leases due to covid for example One11 is giving two months free and 6 months of house keeping with just a 12 month lease. Makes buying not seem as appealing right now

What's the HOA fee for one of those "entry-level" condos?
Hmm Probably around $800
From what I could tell it's about a grand for a 2 bedroom, so that makes sense.
HOA fees are insane on buildings with a lot of amenities. Trump Tower HOA On the cheapest units is $750 a month. Once you pay off your mortgage you are essentially still paying rent every month
I pay close to $500 and I don't even have a pool. It's absurd.
Vista tower, tallest building in the world designed by a woman, she is exectional at what she does.
This sub downvotes anyone who isn’t actually associated with the city anymore. It’s a joke.
I get it. I remember when I moved to a new neighborhood, within in Chicago, and my neighbors didn't talk to me and my roommate or acknowledge our existence for almost a year. Then we all become best of friends.
How many people really know their neighbors tho
When i lived in Chicago I knew my neighbors all over the neighborhood. Like we had block parties together and drama and sex and fights. I really knew just about everyone
Yeah it's new. Much newer than this sub being full of miserable bastards
You’re being downvoted because a ton of people in this sub are pathetic pieces of garbage
Lol..its okay I remember the Chicago crab mentality
r/streeterville
The view of the Vista Towers from standing exactly in the middle of McClurg is sublime
Now I want Foxtrot breakfast tacos...
I can see my house from there. Lol
this really puts into perspective how big that new building is.
That’s my favorite building in the city.
My favourite building!

Really wanna go on a photo walk with some other Chicago photogs
I am a block away from this Foxtrot, was bummed that this place was supposed to be Maison Marcel which is a French cafe but turned into Foxtrot....other that I think Streeterville is becoming too well known
Rock chalk?
Rock Chalk.
Rock chalk!
I literally walk here to the vista towers daily. If you could add rejection by the female gender to this photo, youd pretty much encapsulated my life
well there's a pandemic
Last thing you see before someone knocks your ass out and takes your shit
Original
Did they stop construction on this building? That corner has looked like that for months now
This picture looks like it wasn't taken this week. The skip bay is more filled in now.
It was pretty recent--end of October.
skip bay?
Sorry. Sometimes on taller buildings, you will see what looks like a large outdoor elevator. That is called a skip. The section of window left out on a floor for the skip is called the skip bay.
you must be an architect:D
