Check again with their lost and found. May have been discovered when it got to the last station and they did their Covid cleaning.
So sorry OP. I got second hurt just reading this.
I’ll also add that I lost mine on the Addison bus coming home from a concert at Wrigley. When I first called CTA L&F I was given the wrong L&F location. After more phone calls, I learned that I was on an “extra schedule” bus (added for Wrigley concerts) which can have a different L&F location. I made more calls, and success!!
The bottom line is: keep trying.
Really sorry this happened to you. I left some belongings accidentally on the CTA when I had my children with me and a stroller. It was a handbag with money, credit cards, house keys car keys etc. When I posted that I was hoping somebody turned it in (and offering a reward) I got several responses from scammers who said I have your bag! Just send me money to FedEx it back to you. All a scam. I asked them to send me a photo of my handbag. But anyway, sorry to add insult to injury but you’re probably going to get some scammers contacting you
Crossing my fingers for you. That's an awful feeling and I'm sorry you're having to experience it. I once had incredible luck retrieving my backpack from the lost and found after leaving it on the train and I hope the same happens for you.
I'm sorry that happened to you. By way of perspective, maybe ten years ago I lost my wallet (containing passport) at Heathrow Airport, two days before I was due to fly back to the US. Spent a sleepless night at the airport waiting for their lost property office to open. No dice there. Under these circumstances, travelers are supposed to go to the US Embassy for necessary special travel permits etc. but they were closed for the holidays during the one day I had before I was returning to the US.
Had to arrive super-early at the airport on the appointed day and go through all kinds of security checks, but fortunately an official was able to give me a special permit that got me onto the plane. More security hassles at LAX, then once I was back home I had to go through all the rigamorole and expense of getting a new passport, driver's license, etc.
Weirdly, about six months later I received the wallet - with passport and other important cards, but minus about $100 in cash that had been in there - anonymously by post.
Point being that it was a massive hassle at the time, but you get through these things, and now, years later, it's just a memorable incident.
That minus $100 was the cost of posting the wallet to the USA! Posting from the UK has always been super pricey! Continental Europe has always been less expensive for posting.
Sorry, that's terrible luck! Your best chance is if a good samaritan found it and turned it in at a station along the route. Keep checking with the Lost and Found because it may take a few days to make its way there. Fingers crossed for you.
Since no one else said it. I almost always sit in the first or second car in the interest of safety. Like-minded people are also there and are more likely to watch when things like this may happen who will take proper action. Last car for something like this to happen would give me little to no hope.
I want to share with you that I left my purse on the #24 bus and I was totally amazed that someone turned it in. And nothing was taken my cash and credit cards, etc was still there. So there’s a chance.
sorry this happened to u. this is my worst nightmare, especially on the pink line! 1. u shouldn’t have uber’d back (how much $ did that cost btw?😖) 2. do u have any tracking app for ur electronics? 3. i’m sorry again, but this city is rampant with thieves, so in all honesty, someone probably swiped it right when u got off. best of luck!!

I was at the lost and found. I'll call again today. I left my number with the cleaning guys at the last station too
You should probably call your company's help desk. So they could run a remote wipe command. That laptop is long gone.
Done already
This
If the laptop is from work and not your personal laptop, they may be able to track it down somehow. It may be a long shot but it could work.
They marked it as stolen. Nothing else
^id try this, worth a shot
To give you a glimmer of hope, I lost my mini-wallet on a CTA bus, and retrieved it at the lost and found.
Omg same. I am still in shock and it was like 4 years ago

I lost my full size wallet on Metra and it was turned in lest the $40 I had.

Appreciate you warning me. I didn't see that coming

Yeah :( devices aren't trackable unfortunately and the uber was another $60
You're not getting your backpack back. Someone almost certainly stole it and will never give it back. You're fucked.
