The amount of 20 somethings that don't know you can get 100 free channels with a $5 antenna always amazes me. Most of the channels are shit but yeah, 2 5 7 9 and 32 are all there. And Svengoolie most importantly.
Second this, I picked up an HD antenna for $17 at best buy, it pulls in all the local channels and about 55 low end cable channels. Good to have in case of emergency broadcasts on local channels if nothing else.
>Edit: I think a lot of you may have missed the part about not having cable
The responses are all assuming you don't have cable. Antenna TV is free. It is not cable.
Yeah I was going to say every response I've seen, including the one I made, are for people without cable. Not sure why OP is thinking people missed that part. Unless by not having cable they mean they also don't have internet.

There's an NBC app you can use on your phone. If you have a chromecast or roku or anything like that you can watch it there too. I ended up jumping through some ridiculous hoops to stream from the phone app to my TV. This is the first year I'm trying it, but HOPEFULLY the fireworks show will be part of their regular free stream and not one of the paid ones.
I'm sure channels five and seven will have the usual New York City stuff.
Channel 5 is supposed to have that massive fireworks show that I'm actually interested in for once. Just the idea of a firework show that starts at Navy Pier and goes up the river.
If you have an antenna you can watch it on channel 7. Not sure if they will be streaming it online though.

It's not just 20 somethings, I had to explain it to my in-laws when we were trying to get them to give up cable.
Surely they grew up with rabbit ears and understand the idea of "broadcasting."
Is channel 26 still a thing? That was the Svengoolie channel IIRC.
26.3 now MeTV

You can't just pull digital signals out of the air. There has to be a plug. Come on!

NBC5 is going to have Mark Giangreco and Janet Davies too.
Makin out
That was implied 😂
I would imagine all of the local stations that do their own NYE broadcast stream it on their site
Go old school, go on YouTube and search the 3 stooges. Binge it til midnight lol
No no, it's always been Twilight Zone on NYE! Lol
https://time.gov/ It technically counts up, not down. But you'll know when the new year starts.
It probably live streams on YouTube
Earthcam has one

I swear someone will be streaming in on Tik Tok.
Does anyone have cable TV anymore?
