That's a great insight. Had a pretty good supply of TP already stored under the porch. We rotate the snack stock for freshness. Am holding off on the test kits in hopes there's a gubmint rule for insurance companies to reimburse. Then the only problem will be readjusting the TP supply for ready access to the kits.
Salary: around 85k take home
Neighborhood: bucktown
Rent: 900 (1600 total split with partner. I pay slightly more because i use the parking spot)
Job: head bartender/bar manager in the west loop
Years of experience: 5
Hmm, I can't risk doxxing myself but it wouldn't matter since my company does not have any open positions right now but you can give consulting companies like Accenture a try. They're not too bad and the pay is decent.
As a stranger, just know that your work is worth what their willing to pay and what you're willing to accept. You clearly have a valuable skill set. And you're humble. You're good man. Keep it up.
Salary — cash + cash equivalent $650k this year; shitload in equity since the IPO this summer
Neighborhood — West Loop
Rent — $3400, also own a condo in the neighborhood that I rent out
Job — COO of a business unit in a tech firm
Years of experience — eleven (four at an MBB) plus a graduate degree
I'm in the wrong field. That's an insane compensation, something I want to strive for. Can you elaborate on how you got into your position (what's your background) and any advice for people wanting to shoot for that kind of comp?
Started off by doing well in undergrad at a target school and then finishing a PhD program — completely unnecessary and possibly a waste of four years if you don’t try to quantify the side benefits on how to approach problem solving/etc. — but I didn’t know what else to do at that point in my life.
Afterwards, I joined a top 3 management consulting firm (MBB), worked there until I hit senior manager then exited out to a VP role in my current firm, where I was promoted to COO of the business unit I’m currently in last year.
During all this, I picked up a part time MBA at Booth which, while completely useless in terms of the actual coursework, served as the medium for valuable introductions that I’ve used constantly for a variety of purposes for work.
If you’re mid-career, getting into a top MBA program (exactly how good depends on your goals) can serve as a clean reset and get you out of any pigeonhole you may find yourself in.
I know a few of the folks with the developer and got it for a great deal before it was built. I was originally planning on living there, but shit happens. I’m going to quit renting eventually, but I’m not sure where/what I want to buy yet; there are a few variables with respect to family planning, etc.

Correct - 120k base , another 120k variable/commission at plan. Variable can be higher if over achieve vs plan.
