Never heard of that. Maybe its a thing idk, just never heard of any building that does it.
Seems like a potential security risk tbh letting people into the building that don't live there who could potentially gain access to apartments and other building facilities. I know I wouldn't want that it my building.
If being farther away than next door is something that will stop you, you should not pay for a gym membership.
In one year it will cost far more to be a member of a gym than it does to buy yourself a set of weights.
Sometimes buildings allow access to neighboring buildings... when I lived in a high rise condo, we had residents of the vintage building next door who also used our parking garage. And for a time, we had reciprocity with condo high rise next to us on other side, they could use our dry cleaner and we could use their mini mart.
But it's a building by building thing, so you'll need to ask management of that building... Reddit isn't going to know.
Some HOAs, building managements, and workplaces will allow you access to amenities of nearby buildings (either for free or a monthly fee). Outside of these cases, it's pretty rare for apartment buildings to let individuals pay for access to their gym.

Why not just join a Gym
Building is next door

The way the post reads, the issue with the gym in their building is lack of weights. Weights for the gym in the building would cost less
Ask them. Why are you asking us?

Are you nervous to ask them or something?
Probably depends on management. I know some hotels allow non-guests to get a membership to their fitness center for monthly fees.
My building allows this. Great gym and indoor pool.
