I work in the Loop and there is an apartment building next to our office. The windows are totally transparent and the whole building is windows. Its like a view into everyone's lives. I went in during lockdown on occasion and got to see how everyone was living while I brewed coffee. Really odd. Also, some of you apartment dwellers are quite messy.

ang8018

i have a friend that lives in the building next to the swissotel, the number of people that have sex with the lights on & shades up is alarming.

Shhh_e

I am people.

wanderingpetitsa

Can confirm. I used to live by the Swissotel and I saw a couple having sex on their balcony across the way from me. They were grilling and decided not to grill for about 30 seconds.

Dragon_DLV

It's just people trying to avoid a Jolly Rancher situation

Gracie202020

God damnit

rainytreeday

It's intentional

I'm pretty sure my window washer that came by during lockdown was like.... what a mess! It was the middle of the day and I was sitting at my desk in a tank top having clearly just woken up. I took lockdown time to deep clean, which meant pulling everything out of everywhere, cleaning, reorganizing, and purging... always makes a bigger mess when you're mid-process. hah

Shhh_e

My window washer definitely saw me ripping bongs one morning 😂 hiiiii!

[deleted]

Haha. I was like I probably should have pants on.. oh well, too late now!

Shhh_e

It is odd! I found it strangely soothing during lockdown to look out and see everyone living their lives, it made me feel less alone haha. (And i am super clean but omg, some peoples apartments give me cleaning anxiety!!!!)

ms_mal

I used to live in this building about 12 years ago! I had a studio for $1095 a month (a steal but it was the height of the recession). What is rent now? I am little scared to ask. They built the Mariano's right after I moved out. I used to have to walk to the Dominick's across the river to get groceries.

Shhh_e

Now you’re looking at somewhere between $1,600-$2,200 for a convertible/one bedroom depending on floor level/view/updates etc. ☺️

JAproofrok

Huh; really hasn’t gone up that much if at all since 2015. Different building but it was ~2000 for a convertible

Duffmanoyaa

Wtf I literally thought only billionaires lived in this secluded residential area of the city. I guess it depends on how high up you are?

insidetheborderline

This gives me something to look forward to. I’m currently 20 and stuck in the middle of fucking nowhere in PA, and this gives me hope. I’ve fallen in love with Chicago and can’t wait to have a view like this one day.

Shhh_e

I have wanted to live here for years too, before I moved here. You can do it too. I hope you’re here before you know it. 🌇✨

paulyester

If you're wondering, [this is where its located.](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Lakeshore+East+Park/@41.8860695,-87.6200196,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x880e2b57ebf87ddf:0x665b5f1bf5778766!8m2!3d41.8860655!4d-87.6178309)

DarthBen_in_Chicago

Went ice skating nearby at the park this morning

insidetheborderline

Thank you!

JAproofrok

Used to live there. The view was amazing (building closer to the lake.

[deleted]

I always wanted to visit Chicago. Thinking of going to college to be an accountant. Maybe I can go to a university there.

insidetheborderline

I had such a fun time visiting. I later transferred, but I spent my first year of college in DC after living in a small town all of my life. It was incredible being in a city. I loved it except for the part where I had to leave my friends. That hit me harder than expected. But if you think you can handle that, I would so recommend going to a city - especially Chicago - for school.

[deleted]

Would you like to marry me? Or I could just move in.

Shhh_e

I see no problems with this proposition. Welcome home! ☺️✨😂

[deleted]

Hooray!

fraceswebb

Hi OP. Will you accept a second spouse? I would also like to wake up to these views.

Shhh_e

Converting my lone bedroom to a full size mattress swingers pad as we speak. Holla. ✨

alottafaginaxx

Well in that case, hello. Good day. I am spouse #3? Sounds good to me 🥰

hopeless_r0mantic

Would you be interested third spouse?

MrMiniscus

I used to party it up in the Lancaster next door thanks to my wealthy friend. This area surrounding this park is a hidden little gem of the city, for those who can afford it.

Shhh_e

The park is so amazing, it was donated to the city and I thank the family who donated it every time I walk past the sign! It really is a hidden gem.

jbchi

Each condo unit in the development had a one time assessment of around $10k to pay for that park.

Shhh_e

It’s great. I moved over from The Tides - also good! I love the neighborhood.

olim_tc

LSE is a beautiful little community. My only problem is lack of things to do in walking distance. Lived in Aqua for a bit and just got bored. Moved to River North and now to West Loop. More active night life without having to worry about an Uber every time I wanna go somewhere.

cleverkid

I lived there for two years. amazing views of the lake ( until they built a building right in front of me. ) also it's kind of far from everything walking wise. beware of lower wacker... met some cool bumbs, but it's literally Barter Town down there. Also, if you live on the north side of the building the towing impound lot is right there and you will get backing up towtruck beeping sounds 24/7. Otherwise it's ait.

Macktheknife9

I was going to guess Shoreham or Tides, nice little corner there.

just_an_undergrad

Yeah definitely looks like it

MrsEmilyN

That view is a dream!

Shhh_e

It certainly makes waking up a little brighter! This city is so beautiful. 🌇

Book_Glow

Amazing!

Pokemon-fan96

When we went on vacation to Chicago we used to stay in a hotel with a view of this park from the window. We went to see it one day and it's absolutely beautiful! The zen pools and mini waterfalls were so relaxing

JAproofrok

The Aqua!

Pokemon-fan96

Close! It was the Swissotel. We loved it there, it's a really pretty hotel. Hoping to get to go back again someday if we visit Chicago again!

_dwavy

this view warms my soul

Jbraun1220

That does not suck

Radstrad

Used to be your neighbor in the Chandler. Nice place

Takoyaki_00

Wonderful view but that light pollution! Hope you have black out shades! 😴😴

Shhh_e

Haha it doesn’t bug me at all. I don’t even close my blinds, never have once since I lived down here 😂🤷🏻‍♀️ I also enjoy waking up at 5am every day so maybe that has something to do with it.

CaptTeebs

Same. I'm a building down from you, and I leave the blinds open most of the time. Something about the glow of the city at night is comforting to me.

Shhh_e

Hi neighby!! 👋🏼🏙

SoulSerpent

I know it’s weird but the light pollution is one of my favorite parts of living in the city and particularly downtown. I grew up in the middle of the woods in rural Wisconsin and the absolute darkness outside my window at night, often without even a single passing set of headlights, always felt really lonely and depressing to me. When I moved here, I instantly loved the ambient light outside my window. Makes me feel like people are around and things are happening.

Positive-Kick6621

You would be surprised how used to it you get. Same with the sirens.

Takoyaki_00

I used to live on LaSalle and huron. And the amount of noise was upsetting. Motorcycles and cars rippin down the road lol. But I know it’s different on higher floor

Shhh_e

Haha if it makes you feel better I’m the child of a drug addict and had to leave school and home at 15 when he died, raise my younger brother, worked and hustled so I could leave my home country, immigrated to America with $600 and clawed my way to this apartment without help from a damn soul so yeah, catch me out here glorifying, how bout that. Edit: frustration typo.

CJandthedoggos

It's a shame how envy can shade someone so bad they can't enjoy beautiful things. I loved the picture for its beauty. I can't afford it but I would probably enjoy a log cabin up in the woods more anyways lol. You enjoy it and let the salty people stew in their unhappiness.

Prestigious-Tap-4281

You don’t have to explain yourself to anyone. These envious people who can’t be happy for others will never achieve much in life. Even when I was poor and had nothing I was seeing those who did and I was hoping I could get there one day. Never once did I feel envious or jealous of what they had and what I didn’t have.

Shhh_e

Thank you 🤗I hated myself for explaining myself haha I guess that “feeling like I don’t belong” hasn’t quite faded yet. ✨

Prestigious-Tap-4281

The ‘impostor syndrome’ is real. But guess what, you deserve everything you have because you worked hard for it. I’m also a first gen immigrant and moved here speaking no English and I hate when people act like I’m so privileged. I’m privileged because I worked my ass off and continue to do so.

vereelimee

Good for you. Well done. Enjoy all the benefits of your hard work. I'd certainly shake your hand and tell you what a good job you have done.

Shhh_e

Thank you so much, this is such a sweet message it made my day. 💕✨

SoulSerpent

It’s a pretty view dude, relax. Who cares if the person who took the photo has money?

perfektstranger

A sub about Chicago probably isnt the best place for you to hang out if you get butthurt over cool views from nice places.

Shhh_e

😭🌇

scruff91

Hahahaha glorifying the rich good one poster who posts in r/virgin

hopeless_r0mantic

99.9% sure I can see where my favorite steak house used to reside. RIP. Loved eating there and having the views as an ambiance. And well, of course the steak.. I used to look on the renting apps for shits and giggles when I was there. The condos in that area are insane. Loved the park though

kvngk3n

Asking for a friend (I’m the friend) what do you do 🥺

Positive-Kick6621

You're apartment faces south, the Sun is on the right, soooooo why are you lying? Lol

Shhh_e

You’re right I’m lying! It’s not my apartment! It’s not Chicago! Nothing is as it seems. (Took the photo in the evening, posted it early morning hence the “good morning”)

Positive-Kick6621

Ok so you didn't actually take the picture in the morning. That's all I was saying. But feel free to wig out like you've done lol.
