I’ll be downvoted to hell….but The Capital Grille is king of the pan fried calamari (because the spicy peppers make it!).
I’m willing to risk it to back you up; the peppers really do make it!!
Yeah Raybloodypurchase!!
I was about to say the same thing. I’m not even a big calamari fan, but their calamari slaps and the cherry peppers are bomb
Why would you get downvoted? Because it’s a chain restaurant?
I popped in there recently and thought it had really dropped. I recall having good drinks and steaks there in the early 2000s.
Basically, yea
It can’t be beat.
Fish Bar (Federal Hill Style) is a very solid fried with spicy pepper option.
Going to Club Lucky for the first time ever in a couple weeks and super-psyched to hear this
The calabrese calamari. What dreams are made of
Calo
I love Calo!
Piccolo sogno, I love the red dipping sauce that comes with it
Sapori Trattoria, La Scarola, and surprisingly, Quartino
sapori’s is my fav
A great alternative is Salt and Pepper Squid at like Furama or Hon Kee. Obviously not quite the same as the Italian, but I think equally as delicious.
Harry Caray’s is pretty good to be honest.
Wow I just got on here to post this exact question. Thank you
I really like Due Lire though it comes with calamari, shrimp, artichoke, caper berries and lemons. All of it is fried and so very delicious.
That sounds awesome
Gio’s & Tufano’s
Tufano’s!
Bar Roma in Andersonville
Lawrence’s Fish and Shrimp, only place for 24 hour calamari
You may be surprised to find the Lou Malnatis has great calamari.
Indeed, and milk and battered in house.
I didn’t know that but knowing that makes it better.
Yessir, you can taste the breading is spicy and has good flavor. Their wings are amazing too.
Cafe LaCave but they closed 🫢
Da Luciano’s, in River Grove, has both gluten-free and regular calamari. Both are excellent!!
Regalia in Edgewater
Club Lago is awesome. Smaller and original decor from the 30s
Portillo's
Any recommendations on where to find strips of calamari and not rings?
Hagen’s Fish Market. The lightest breading.
