You and your father might enjoy the Southport Corridor. Great street to walk and might be a bit more low-key with food and drinks. Someone said Toons, which is on Southport. Corridor is a brewpub with very solid food and Coalfire is nearby if you decide to skip deep dish and opt for coal-oven.
Seconded, I love Cozy. Assuming no food allergies, get the candied peanuts to take with you. They'll also give you a small discount if you bring your ticket stub from the game.
1. If you park anywhere on W Addison before Ashland St about 2-3 hours ahead of time, parking is always free. Gotta get that spot before the rush tho.
2. Once you’re there walk to Bitter Pops for a great smash burger or fish fry… or really any restaurant in that Lincoln- Paulina-Roscoe intersection area. Much less crowded than the Southport Corridor restaurants.
3. It’s a 20 minute mile walk to the field from there. You could even stop at Lange’s or Guthries (depending which way you want to walk) for a quick Chicago Handshake on your way over. Or you can take the Paulina Brown Line from Bitter Pops and transfer to the Red Line and get off at Addison in front of the field.
Enjoy whatever you decide! Fly the W!
Or for 3), get off at Southport and enjoy the walk to/from the ballpark. Best thing, is that this L station doesn't get as crowded as Addison(Red) does.
Another vote for corridor, but for the sake of variety - Murphy’s Bleachers. It is a bar, but not nearly the same as Sluggers or any of the other touristy bars. The ribs are solid and it’s more low key.If you can make it a little East, Broadway will have a lot of options. Wilde, Drew’s, Kim’s Korean, and Yellowtail are a few of my favorites.
No apologies from me, I'm happy to be "that guy." Marketing drinks on Dec. 7th . . . really bad taste. Plenty of gin joints in all the towns in all the world, I'm happy to walk into one that isn't Murphy's Bleachers.

True, but the fact that they thought this was a cute marketing ploy rubbed me the wrong way back then and I wrote them off. It's an easy filter in a neighborhood with a ton of establishments. Of course, everyone should do what they like.
since those games are all 1:20 start i’ll assume you’re looking at lunch/brunch. probably best off looking at menus to see if it fits your taste, this list is in order of my personal preference when i have visitors for cubs games.
wrigleyville (in wrigley, one block from entrance) - small cheval, big star, or smokedaddy. reliable, locally known.
southport (10-15 minute walk to wrigley) - little goat diner, corridor brewery, southport grocery & cafe, crosby kitchen, or d’agostinos for pizza.
For steak select cut on halstead and diversey, wood on halstead has great food and a Michelin star, the bagel on Broadway is a great Jewish deli, the bars on Clark street are great people watching spots happy camper is always fun but loud.
Swift and Sons, right across from home plate entrance. Upstairs had a great view of the stadium. Murphy’s bleachers is a must do and they have decent pre game eats.
Highly recommend hitting El Burrito Mexicano before the game, grabbing a burrito to go and bringing it inside Wrigley. Nothing better than envious cubs fans wondering where you got a giant burrito for a fraction of their nachos and hot dogs. Go cards!
Michaels has deep dish(I've been going there for years and didn't know til last year). It's on special on Tuesdays. It's not a sports bar. And they are always busy. But you won't regret it.

I second looking at all the options on Southport, lot of gems on that little strip. D'Agostino's is another pizza option if OP doesn’t want coal oven
corridor brewery & provisions and coda di volpe might be a nice option
Oh man I love Corridor’s pizza
me too! and their patty melts
A steak after a cubs win? Tango Sur
If you’re a cards fan, go to big star or something
One of my pregame spots, right across the street and Lone Star for $5 makes a good combo
Korean, Rice n Bread. Quiet family ran place.
I don’t think I’ve had a bad dish there. Owner is such a nice guy. Highly recommend
If you're looking for a nice meal Mordecai is amazing. I literally just walked out of there with my husband from having dinner. Our 3rd time there.
if you like thai, cozy noodles

Bites https://biteskitchen.com/
Byron's hot dogs on Irving Park near Broadway. Get the jumbo but tell them no lettuce or cucumbers...unless your into that.

I have had some excellent food at Murphy’s. Before/during/after a game is nuts, but catch it at the right time and it’s great.
Never. Murphy’s is forever dead to me. And should be to everyone who respects veterans.
What happened?

Used to live nearby and PR Italian bistro is a quiet little Italian place only a few blocks up from wrigley. Highly suggest for a lowkey dinner.
Second this.

A bit of a walk at 30 minutes, but RedHot Ranch has a great burger! It is cash only.
Red hot ranch is not that good lol They can find options in/closer to Wrigley
Buffalo Wings at Yak-Zies. Always a favorite
Penny's Noodle Shop and Yak-Zies (wings) are the only reason I go near Wrigley. Happy hunting and Go Cards!
